Hello, I started playing this gen and this is the my first team I have been succesful with, so I thought I will post it, I’m open to all suggestions, so lets get started. I made this team when I saw that Band Terrakion has nearly no switch-ins and after playing this team in ladder 1500 and doing some changes, here is the team I have built.
Terrakion @ Choice Band
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
My initial pokemon, the only pokemons that can switch into close combat are ghosts, Clefable, Sylveon, Togekiss and scarf Dragapult. And for stone edge Ferro, Excadrill, Tyranitar and Seismotoad if im not forgetting anyone. Its preferable to play carefuly and save Terrakion for the late game, as it can outright win matches if it finds an oppening when ghosts and fairies are gone.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 220 HP / 224 SpA / 64 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Giga Drain
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave
I was trying a support Clefable and I had trouble with excadrill and seismitoad, and celebi solves that while being a really good support pokemon and Steal Rock setter, the EV’s are for outspeeding max speed Pelipper and 2HKOing him with Giga Drain. Getting Arcanine and Togekiss statused is very bad so make sure you Heal Bell.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Atk / 164 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Toxic
- Spikes
A regular Ferrothorn set, spikes because Celebi has rocks, toxic because it helps me a lot against stall and 92 attack EV’s for 2HKOing Dragapults because they love to switch into Ferrothorn.
Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 196 SpD / 60 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun
- Hyper Voice
This is my main counter against fairies like Clefable and Sylveon, who give me a lot of trouble, it can also check special Dragapult and Aegislash, the speed EV’s are for outspeeding max speed Aegislash. It switches into fire attacks directed at Ferrothorn and Celebi.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 236 SpA / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Dazzling Gleam
- Defog
- Soft-Boiled
I was using Corviknight instead of this but i wanted something with more offensive pressence, and togekiss is really useful, she can wear down Mandibuzz and Hippowdon and is the only hazard remover in this team, so you shoud be careful, but if you can get your own hazards in the opposing side you dont have to be impatient with Defoging. The speed EV’s are for outspeeding 8 speed Mandibuzz.
Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
It serves the same purpose than G-Darm did, I normally throw him as lead and U-turn out. His Flare Blitz can be your main win condition if Terrakion can’t do it.
THREATS
Scarf Dragapult can nearly auto win if Arcanine is out, so make sure you dont let him switch in freely and dont risk Arcanine until you know what set he is using.
Excadrill is a big threat, if he switches in against Togekiss the only ways to stop him are Celebi and sacrificing someone for bringing in Dramanitan, and if he has swords dance the only way is sacrificing someone, you can make the opponent think that your Togekiss has flamethrower so he doesn’t use SD or doesn’t switch in.
Seismitoad stops both my win conditions if he is max Def, so you need to wear him down with ferro or killing him with Celebi.
Tyranitar can only be beaten by Terrakion, and if he has ghosts in the back, which normally happens, it becomes a guessing game, you can stone edge if you feel that he will switch into Dragapult. If you can will-o-wisp Tyranitar witch Arcanine you have got no more problems.
Some setup sweepers like substitute+DD Dragapult give me lots of trouble, but as this build isnt very common I am not really worried.
And I think thats it, I would love if you could make me some suggestions, thank you for taking the time to read my post.
