[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to a wide array of set options, a generally good movepool and access to Misty Surge, Tapu Fini establishes itself as a true jack of all trades. Tapu Fini is typically used as a more supportive Pokemon, supporting the team with Misty Terrain which is helpful against common status spreaders such as Amoonguss, Venusaur, and Spectrier. It also has access to a vast range of supportive tools such as Light Screen and Reflect for damage reduction, Icy Wind for speed control, Heal Pulse to heal allies, and Haze to counteract common setup strategies such as Weakness Policy Solgaleo and Swords Dance Groudon. There is also merit to a more offensive Tapu Fini set thanks to its positive matchups against Yveltal, Galarian Moltres, and Incineroar. Tapu Fini's main downside is that while it is a jack of all trades, it is also the master of none. Often its different roles are performed better by another Pokemon, such as Grimmsnarl being a much more effective Screens setter. It also has weaknesses to some of the most common offensive presences in the metagame, most notably Regieleki, Zapdos and Kartana. What distinguishes Tapu Fini from the rest is the great ability and wider movepool that allow it to do multiple things on a single set.

name: Utility
move 1: Moonblast / Dazzling Gleam
move 2: Icy Wind
move 3: Haze / Light Screen / Reflect
move 4: Nature's Madness / Heal Pulse
item: Wacan Berry
ability: Misty Surge
nature: Timid
evs: 236 HP / 44 Def / 4 SpA / 92 SpD / 132 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam are both fine options as Tapu Fini's STAB move. Moonblast does more damage to a single target with a chance to lower their Special Attack, whereas Dazzling Gleam is a good spread move. Both allow Tapu Fini to hit Pokemon weak to Fairy such as Yveltal, Grimmsnarl, and Palkia for good amounts of damage.

* Icy Wind serves as a team's method of speed control, being able to cripple faster attackers such as Zacian-C and Calyrex-S.

* Haze is used to counteract any boosts gained typically from Max Moves such as Max Airstream and Max Quake, but it is also usable against common Weakness Policy users such as Solgaleo and against Zacian-C's Intrepid Sword. Alternatively, Light Screen allows the team to show more resilience against common specially attacking threats in the format such as Dialga and Calyrex-S, whereas Reflect helps against more physical threats such as Zacian-C and Groudon.

* Nature's Madness allows a more utility-based Tapu Fini to deal substantial damage to Pokemon it would otherwise struggle against such as Incineroar, Solgaleo, and Dialga. Heal Pulse is generally a good supportive move to keep its allies healthy and pairs particularly well with Pokemon that have a fair amount of bulk such as Galarian Moltres and Palkia.

* Tapu Fini's EVs and Wacan Berry allow it to comfortably take strong Electric-type attacks such as Choice Specs Regieleki's Thunderbolt and Life Orb Thundurus's Max Lightning. Its HP investment allows it to take minimal damage from any weather damage and Leech Seed from defensive Ferrothorn, and its Speed allows it to outspeed base 130s such as Spectrier and Tapu Koko after one Icy Wind.

[SET]
name: Calm Mind
move 1: Moonblast / Dazzling Gleam
move 2: Muddy Water / Scald
move 3: Calm Mind
move 4: Protect
item: Leftovers / Sitrus Berry / Aguav Berry
ability: Misty Surge
nature: Modest
evs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 196 SpA / 4 SpD / 52 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam are Tapu Fini's primary attacking moves, with their Fairy typing allowing them to hit Pokemon such as Grimmsnarl, Palkia, and Urshifu-S for super effective damage. Dazzling Gleam is a great spread move, but Moonblast deals more damage to a single target and offers a chance to drop the opponent's Special Attack.

* Muddy Water is often the preferred Water-type STAB move for Tapu Fini, as it is an effective spread option that can swing games with the chance to lower both opposing Pokemon's Accuracy. Scald is a nice alternative that has perfect accuracy, and can burn targets after Misty Terrain has expired or if they are airborne, but it only hits a single target. Both of these moves are effective for hitting Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Incineroar well.

* Calm Mind allows Tapu Fini to survive Modest Magnet Regieleki's Thunderbolt and then KO it in return with Moonblast with just a single boost, as well as generally putting it at an advantage late-game with its raised Special Attack.

* Calm Mind Tapu Fini often needs a source of longevity due to its lack of worthwhile natural recovery. As a result, Leftovers is the primary item for Tapu Fini, as it often wants to stay on the field for longer periods of time. Its HP maximizes recovery off of a single turn of Leftovers healing . Sitrus Berry and Aguav Berry are also other options for one-time recovery, but in longer games Leftovers often gives more recovery altogether. Tapu Fini's Speed allows it to outspeed common base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Charizard and Volcarona when at +1, often from a partner's Max Airstream or Regieleki's Electroweb.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Tapu Fini may also choose to use a Choice item such as Choice Scarf or Choice Specs. Choice Scarf allows Tapu Fini to outspeed a vast majority of the metagame with the exception of Regieleki and to often perform a useful role for the team. This may include dealing a good amount of damage to faster, but weaker Pokemon such as Cinderace, using Trick to lock the opponents into a single move, or using Soak to support team members such as Zekrom and Rillaboom and often help them take a KO. Choice Specs is used on fully offensive Tapu Fini, and its damage can be devastating to unprepared teams. These both, however, come at the risk of locking Tapu Fini into a single move for extended periods of time unless it switches, which often detracts from the versatility it usually provides.

Your improvement in such a short time is remarkable.

(don't forget to switch move order of Icy Wind and Haze etc in set 1)
