- Wood Hammer / Swords Dance

[SET COMMENTS]
With priority, pivoting, and item disruption in one slot, Thwackey is a threatening all-out attacker or Swords Dance sweeper without the repercussions of being locked into one move. Knock Off creates progress against foes resistant to its STAB moves like Pignite and Ivysaur. U-turn pivots from unfavorable matchups like Tinkatuff, Pignite, and Hisuian Sliggoo. Wood Hammer can potentially 2HKO Dunsparce and Pignite after Stealth Rock; Swords Dance is a solid alternative to bolster the power of its attacks. Life Orb is used to make Thwackey even scarier to switch into, though Eviolite can be used instead to bolster its defenses and ease setup.

Thwackey fits on a variety of balanced and offensive team compositions, owing to its strong offensive toolkit. Thwackey's Grassy Terrain is valued for mitigating Ground-type damage from foes like Piloswine and Gabite's Earthquake. Examples of good partners include Tinkatuff, Koffing, and Monferno; the former two provide defensive utility with status and hazards, respectively, while Monferno helps form an offensive VoltTurn core while providing Knock Off utility. Quaxwell is another solid partner to it, checking Fire-types like Raboot and Monferno while being a slow pivot to form VoltTurn cores. Poison-types like Koffing and Ivysaur and Tinkatuff prove to be challenging opponents; checks to these respective types like Girafarig and Piloswine are appreciated, while Thwackey provides passive recovery to its teammates in return. Steel-types like Tinkatuff and Hisuian Sliggoo also stand out as great partners, both appreciating the reduced damage from Earthquake while providing defensive utility from the former and wallbreaking from the latter. Thunder Wave users like Drakloak and the aforementioned Tinkatuff can slow down faster checks like Misdreavus and Raboot and make Thwackey even more daunting to switch into. Other breakers and cleaners like Pignite, Vigoroth, and Wartortle benefit from Thwackey's offensive pivoting and can break through the opposition easier.

name: Swords Dance should we change this to like "offensive pivot" and just slash SD instead? i feel like that's a better example of how thwackey is used if it's not band, just 4 attacks with sd slashed with uturn or wood hammer. i feel like sd is actually less common rn
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Grassy Glide
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: U-turn / Wood Hammer
item: Life Orb / Eviolite
ability: Grassy Surge
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

use this formatting found at the bottom of this post in the spoiler that says "full template"

mention why thwackey is good in this role as a breaker/cleaner. good ability, knock, uturn, good offensiving type, etc With a Swords Dance set, Thwackey can power up its threatening STAB attacks without the repercussions of being locked into one move. Knock Off creates progress against foes resistant its STAB moves like Pignite and Ivysaur. U-turn is preferred to pivot out from unfavorable matchups like Tinkatuff and Pignite; Wood Hammer remains a viable alternative to 2HKO Tinkatuff and potentially OHKO Dunsparce at +2 after Stealth Rock. Life Orb is used to make Thwackey even scarier to switch into, though Eviolite can be used instead to bolster its defenses and ease setup.

what teams does thwackey work best on? Thunder Wave users like Misdreavus and the aforementioned Tinkatuff can slow down faster checks to it and make it even more daunting to switch into. maybe mention breakers/cleaners that pair well with thwackey

Wood Hammer can 2HKO Tinkatuff (this is not correct if it retains evio, mention this after 'potentially...') and potentially 2HKO Dunsparce after Stealth Rock; Swords Dance is a solid alternative to bolster the power of its attacks. Other breakers and cleaners like Pignite, Girafarig already metnioned giraf once, maybe change it to smth like raboot or vigo?, and Wartortle benefit from Thwackey's offensive pivoting and can break through the opposition easier.
