Swampert vs. Donphan

Who provides the better team support? They seem to be similar... Swampert has more resistances, but Donphan has higher Atk and Def... and also access to Rapid Spin...

They even have similar moves!

Swampert; Avalanch + Earthquake
Donphan; Ice Shard + Earthqake
(Both have Stealth Rock!)

When all is said and done, which is better? Or does it just depend on the team they're in?

I vote swampert in general, partly because of it being able to use special attacks as well, but really it depends on what team they are in.
 
Swampert is much better with Ice Beam than Avalanche in most cases IMO.

Swampert provides a much better wall than Donphan since it doesn't have an Ice weak and it can use the two most commonly used moves in the game (EQ/IB) reasonably effectively.

Donphan, on the other hand, can Rapid Spin (predictable but useful) and can also take out damaged Dragon types without too much risk no matter how many stat-ups they have with Ice Shard.

It depends on your team really, if you need a Rapid Spinner and have trouble revenge killing Dragon types, pick Donphan. If your team is already full of ice weaks or if you have a Raikou problem or something (>_>) then pick Swampert.
 
There's no poll. You disappoint.

I prefer Swampert for its mono weakness and its ability to deal damage from both special and physical attacks. He's really sturdy. Although, it depends on what a team needs. Donphan is a good rapid spinner, something it can do that swampert can't.

Thank you for not holding a poll, too many useless polls going around. Well, you're comparing two Pokemon that really shouldn't be compared. The only reason to use Donphan is Rapid Spin, since he's outclassed as a bulky Ground by both Pert and Hippowdon. Pert does everything he does better(except Spin). Overall, Swampert's ability to hit hard from both ends of the spectrum, while also taking hits from both sides puts him way ahead of Donphan. If you're looking for a Physical wall that can Spin, Forry is a much better choice.
 
Swampert is the an Awsome Tank, but like strike said, you cant compare Donphan with Swampert, now if you wanna know who is better, Swampert rapes Donphan.
 
this thread is largely pointless since it 99% depends on what actual team you're trying to support
 
I think the biggest difference between the two is that Swampert resists Steel and isn't weak to Ice while Donphan can Rapid Spin. Both have different ways of taking out Dragons. Jump's right though.
