Project SV OU - Victim of the Week (Week 62: Dragon Dance Kyurem) [SUBMISSIONS OPEN!]

As a check Booster Energy Iron Valiant survives scarf headlong rush and ohkos back with moonblast so if given a free switch at 100% it'll definitely win. And if Tusk tries to tera poison or steel Val can kill after with a super effective move.
But the thing is iron valiant def doesnt kill it with cc, its to fat

Knowing I shouldn't vote for myself...

Check: :Chi-Yu: (As much as I wanted to vote for Brambleghast because it's the only other non-Chi-Yu check that isn't mine that actually beats this Great Tusk regardless of whether it Teras and also doesn't need to Tera in order to beat this Great Tusk, and the optics surrounding Chi-Yu have been terrible lately, and I've gotten beaten by Strength Sap Brambleghast in an OU game before, Chi-Yu is just plain more splashable than Brambleghast.)

Counter: :Pelipper: (It's the only counter that doesn't have to Tera in order to work - Avalugg and Amoonguss cannot actually counter this Great Tusk without Terastallizing (Avalugg takes too much from Close Combat, Amoonguss takes too much from Headlong Rush), and I generally have pretty lame luck with RestTalk Dondozo. Great Tusk 3HKOing RestTalking Dondozo if it Knock Offs as Dondozo switches in makes me leery that Dondozo actually counters this Great Tusk, especially since Wave Crash turns being 3HKOd into being 2HKOd too often. Note that Dondozo doesn't need to Tera in this match-up in order to get similar results, and Great Tusk might actually be incentivized to not Tera either simply to rack up Wave Crash recoil instead of get hit by super-effective Body Presses. Talonflame needs to Tera Flying in order to actually dodge all the burned(!) Headlong Rushes all the time, which erase upwards of 70% of Roosting non-Tera Talonflame's max. HP every time.)

Congratulations to Bice and Lectrys for winning this week of Victim of the Week.

Our new Victim shall be...
:ss/dragonite:
Dragonite @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner

Dragonite has continued from where it left off in SS, however this time it has become an even bigger offensive threat. With Normal Tera Type, Extreme Speed suddenly becomes a STAB Base 80 Priority Move, on top of Dragon Dance. Ice Spinner also allows Dragonite to not have to rely on STAB moves with drawbacks such as Outrage or Dragon Claw. Ice Spinner can deal with any opposing Dragons, such as Dragapult, Roaring Moon and Garchomp.

How will you punish this victim? Submissions end Friday!

The combination of Rocky Helmet, Ice Spinner and Body Press allows Great Tusk to be a decently reliable counter to most Dragonite sets. Rocky Helmet will break Multiscale, then Ice Spinner or Body Press will finish it off. Great Tusk is bulky enough to take 2 Ice Spinners from +1 Dragonite, so it cannot be outplayed using Tera if its healthy enough. Unfortunately, Great Tusk crumbles to the occasional Hurricane Dragonite, and there's nothing you can do about it except using a pre-emptive Tera or praying that your opponent is of sane mind.

The key think that separates Skeledirge from other walls is its ghost typing and will o wisp. Combine that with tera fairy means that it's very hard to 2hko at most. Will o wisp is the main selling point as it's a death sentence for any physical attacker especially Dnite and hex is just the nail in the coffin. Lastly, torch song is to makes sure its not a passive wall as well.

Rotom-Wash is never a fan of taking Extreme Speeds, which is why I've labelled this set as a check instead of a counter, but this defensive set is pretty good at outlasting Dragonite without needing to Tera. Simply Will-O-Wisp on Turn 1 and do other things after that:

+1 252+ Atk Tera Normal Dragonite Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 153-180 (28.6 - 33.7%) -- 0.5% chance to 3HKO
+1 252+ Atk Tera Normal Dragonite Ice Spinner vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 61-72 (11.4 - 13.4%) -- possible 8HKO

Mola is a counter, it can switch in on the dd, chilling water, and wish protect itself up... and even if shit hits the fan like dragonite tera's and results in it taking much more, it can always tera ghost and continue to spam chilling water

+2 252+ Atk Tera Normal Dragonite Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Ghost Alomomola: 204-240 (38.2 - 44.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+2 252+ Atk Tera Normal Dragonite Ice Spinner vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Ghost Alomomola: 163-192 (30.5 - 35.9%) -- 45.3% chance to 3HKO

After you ghost tera you are still able to stall out dragonite slowly with chilling water and its ice spinners esp unless it is at +2 it cannot really harm mola can just wish up and chilling water to continue to lower its attack

Skeledirge @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Torch Song
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Slack Off
The key think that separates Skeledirge from other walls is its ghost typing and will o wisp. Combine that with tera fairy means that it's very hard to 2hko at most. Will o wisp is the main selling point as it's a death sentence for any physical attacker especially Dnite and hex is just the nail in the coffin. Lastly, torch song is to makes sure its not a passive wall as well.
fwiw, if suggestions towards a submitted set are about whether they work or do work, it is up to the owner of the original post to decide to change their submission or not.

:slowbro: as a check because it doesn't need to use up a tera to check dragonite

:dondozo: as a counter because dragonite doesnt rly have any good moves to nail it even without it terastalizing + it cant beat it even if it has set up multiple dances

Congratulations to xyeu and Aomori for winning this week of Victim of the Week!

Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- U-turn

Dragapult has continued off from SS OU with a dominant presence, whether it's Choice Specs, Choice Band or HDB, Dragapult always proposes a threat to its opponents. It's fast, strong and has great coverage. How will you deal with this monster?

Wigglytuff @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Competitive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
- Dazzling Gleam

Say hello to the ultimate counter. Immune to both STABs, and takes next to nothing on coverage. Can contribute to the team with Wish and TWave support while threatening to 2HKO Dragapult with Dazzling Gleam.

252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Wigglytuff: 133-157 (27.5 - 32.5%) -- 67.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
8 SpA Wigglytuff Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Dragapult: 192-228 (60.5 - 71.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

All praise the better Scream Tail.

Here's this fatass as a Check

:sv/ting_lu:

Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes

This thing doesn't care at all about anything Dragapult does, easily tanking anything Dragapult can throw at it and freely set up hazards or just go for the good chance of the 2HKO, forcing it to U-turn out.

252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Draco Meteor over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 250-295 (48.6 - 57.3%) -- not a KO
252 SpA Choice Specs Tera Ghost Dragapult Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 77-91 (14.9 - 17.7%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 148-175 (46.6 - 55.2%) -- 68.8% chance to 2HKO

Check

:SV/Meowscarada:
Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Dark / Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- U-turn
- Flower Trick

In a meta where the viable Choice Scarf user meta starts at outspeeding Specs Dragapult and continues climbing up, Meowscarada is in a pretty good position as a Scarfer that outspeeds and OHKOs other Scarfers. Of course, since this Dragapult is Tera Ghost, Meowscarada makes quick work of it:

252+ Atk Meowscarada Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 392-464 (123.6 - 146.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meowscarada: 354-417 (120.8 - 142.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO)

Bonus points for also outspeeding and OHKOing Scarf Gholdengo and making anyone who wants to try Scarf Hydreigon or Sandy Shocks really regret their choices.
