Project SV OU - Victim of the Week (Week 57: Okidogi) [CURRENTLY ON HIATUS]

Check:
:sv/cinderace:
Cinderace @ Choice Band
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Sucker Punch

252 Atk Choice Band Libero Cinderace High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Ursaluna: 560-662 (139.6 - 165%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Counter:
:sv/hoopa:
Hoopa @ Air Balloon
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Tera Type: Fighting
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Filler move

Thanks to Air Balloon, Hoopa has one move less to worry about. And I'm honestly surprised Hoopa can tank a Fire Punch from this beast. I chose confined Hoopa over the obviously stronger form because of the neat Normal type immunity.

252+ Atk Guts Ursaluna Fire Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa: 215-254 (71.4 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Ursaluna Headlong Rush vs. Air Balloon Hoopa: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever

If you hit the Focus Blast, Ursaluna is dead.

252+ SpA Hoopa Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Ursaluna: 384-454 (95.7 - 113.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

But wait! Doesn't it fall just short of KO'ing? No it doesn't. If the previous attack was Guts boosted, then that means Ursaluna has already taken burn damage (6.25%) and is now dead. (95.7 + 6.25 = 101.95% = more than 100%)

Your calcs have Ursaluna at 0 HP, but the example one has 252 HP.

Thanks everyone for your submissions this week, voting is now open!
I agree with the comments made in this thread, sorry for any submissions that haven't been included here! Skarmory without Tera is very close to being consistent, but if it switches in on a Fire Punch and clicks Iron Defense on Turn 2, it's a 50/50 to beat it as if it Body Presses on another Fire Punch both Skarm and Ursaluna go down, or if it Roosts as they Headlong Rush it also loses - I've included it but with the specification of Tera Fighting. I've also changed Garganacl to Tera Ghost as if they Facade on the Tera Flying you just lose, whereas Tera Ghost wins 100% of the time as a check since it always lives HLR into HLR with the Defense boost. I've also also given this Primarina Tera Water, as if Ursaluna chooses to use Tera Normal, Sparkling Aria doesn't even 2HKO while unboosted Facade / HLR are a clean twoshot.

I'm back, thanks to everyone for participating. Your winner (so far) for this week is, after a close race broken by just one vote:

Counter
Tera Fighting :zamazenta: by chuggachuggachooo
However, the winning check isn't calculated yet, and that's because we need a tiebreaker. All of the submissions (yes, all of them) received 2 votes, meaning we need to vote again.

For this tiebreaker, please only pick one choice from the above list of checks.

We'll end the tiebreaker in 2 days - next phase and the winning check will be posted on Saturday, July 20th.

Sorry for the wait. Your next victim is the second fastest Pokemon in OU who has historically been used as a hazard-setting lead, but now finds itself with another option in its all-out attacking set. I'm talking about none other than Deoxys-Speed.

:sv/deoxys-speed:
Deoxys-Speed @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Psycho Boost
- Superpower
- Knock Off
- Ice Beam

Deoxys-Speed leverages both its stellar Speed (well, it's in the name) as well as its good coverage in order to force progress. Psycho Boost hits incredibly hard even off of a mediocre 95 Special Attack stat, while Superpower combined with Tera Fighting wrecks Dark-types like Ting-Lu and Kingambit that foolishly think they can take on this speed demon. Knock Off is a generally-good progress-making move which helps against Psychic-types like Galarian Slowking and AV Iron Crown that don't really care too much about Deo-S's main moves. The final slot goes to Ice Beam, a very nice neutral coverage option that wallops Lando-T and Gliscor. How will you stop this runaway attacker?

Submissions end on Wednesday, July 31st.
You may submit up to 1 check and 1 counter.

Pretty sure this was done before but oh well.

Not much Doexys-S can do but Knock Off. Hatterene can Calm Mind then Draining Kiss Deoxys-S away and out-recover the damage output.
252 SpA Life Orb Deoxys-Speed Psycho Boost vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 117-138 (36.7 - 43.3%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Never mind, we've done this before. Sorry about that. The real victim of this week will be 3 attacks IDBP Zamazenta.

+1 0 Atk Unaware Dondozo Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 88 Def Zamazenta: 106-126 (27.3 - 32.4%) -- 59.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Substitute
- Cotton Guard

Since I took the world’s most boring counter, I now must choose a fun check. Turn 1 Whimiscott uses Leech Seed and takes 50% from Heavy Slam. Then it can Cotton Guard, meaning it only takes around 20-24% from Heavy Slam, meaning Leftovers + Leech Seed outheals Heavy Slam damage. Combine this with Protect and Substitute providing more healing time and you’ve won the encounter.

0 Atk Zamazenta Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Whimsicott: 162-192 (50 - 59.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Timid Nature
- Fiery Dance

Iron Moth's resistances to Fighting and Steel allow it to take any two hits from Zamazenta, and thanks to Booster Energy, it's powerful work to 2HKO in return.

+1 88 Def Zamazenta Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Iron Moth: 118-139 (39.2 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Quark Drive Iron Moth Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zamazenta: 220-259 (56.7 - 66.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Clodsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 232 HP / 24 Atk / 252 Def
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Spikes
- Toxic
- Recover

While not as physically bulky as Dondozo, Clodsire resists Fighting, which in combination with Unaware allows it to wall Zamazenta. Toxic followed by three Earthquakes will KO whether Zamazenta teras or not. You might need to Recover if Crunch causes a defense drop or two, which also means you might need a fourth Earthquake if Zamazenta teras to avoid Toxic, but you'll still win eventually.

0 Atk Zamazenta Crunch vs. 232 HP / 252 Def Clodsire: 73-86 (15.9 - 18.7%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Zamazenta Crunch vs. -1 232 HP / 252 Def Clodsire: 109-129 (23.7 - 28.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

24 Atk Unaware Clodsire Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 88 Def Tera Steel Zamazenta: 146-174 (37.6 - 44.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

This set is pretty much impossible for Zamazenta:zamazenta:to break through, with Chilling Water cutting damage and Toxic+Infestation slowly but surely chipping Zamazenta:zamazenta:. Finally, Haze is here to stop Iron Defense boosts. If they decide to go for Tera Steel, Infestation+Chilling Water will still slowly get down Zamazenta:zamazenta:.
