Dragapult @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
- Tera Blast
In this team, Dragapult functions as a banded wallbreaker and lategame sweeper. With his potential ghost stab and specs threats, he is able to scare off a few threats and force switches while u-turning out safely. Additionally, he is able to revenge kill vs banded chien due to his high speed. With the immense power of banded darts, most offensive pokemon will get k/oed in one turn which is very useful.
Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 20 SpA / 156 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Trick
In this team, Rotom is scarfed to outspeed chien-pao giving it a few advantages. First, it can function as a lead vs glimmora, as it ohkos scarf and only dies to two energy balls on sash, which it outspeeds. Additionally, rotom is able to burn and volt switch out on chien-pao, however the lessened bulk makes it a poor switch in. A few other uses include the ability to trick walls/setup mons, threaten tusk with a potential ohko, and a ground immunity to round out the team and foce mind games.
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Pyro Ball
- Court Change
- Gunk Shot
In this team, Cinderace functions as a pivot, being my main hazard remover. With heavy-duty boots, Cinderace can safely switch in on hazards and court change them away. This allows me set up on hazard setters if I want as I can court change them away or avoid most of them with Rotom. Cinderace also functions as a lead mon vs grimmsnarl and orthworm, able to pressure grimmsnarl with poison stab and court change and orthworn with pyro ball. Cinderace is able to switch up and surprise fairy types especially, while u-turning is a great scouting tool. Sadly, Cinderace has to be used as a gholdengho switch in due to my team's weakness to non-scarf/specs sets, able to eat 2-3 non specs shadow balls and 2-3 non specs make it rains while forcing a switch out.
Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Def / 56 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Salt Cure
- Protect
- Recover
In this team, Garganacl serves as a wall. Due to the defensive spread, garganacl is able to switch in to soak nearly any hits then heal, protect, or pressure. Purifying Salt also makes Garganacl a status denyer. Salt cure forces many mind games and is generally a massive nuisance to switch in on. Additionally, Garg is able to go toe to toe with several prominent mons in the meta, especially chien-pao. Finally, having rocks is nice but I have experimented with other sets to varying degrees of success. Lefties is better for switch ins, however, cloak makes ditto matchups much easier.
Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
In this team, Meowscarada serves as a lead vs. most teams not using chien/breloom, with the scarf to outspeed nearly every pokemon in the metagame, spectacular coverage and damage with protean+movepool, and u-turn to maintain momentum off a swap. Additionally, Meowscarada is an amazing revenge killer able to outspeed many boosted mons. Finally, the grass typing is nice as a switch in to spores, especially with Toedscruel rising in usage.
Hatterene @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
- Draining Kiss
- Mystical Fire
- Calm Mind
- Nuzzle
In this team, Hatterenne serves several roles. With court change being my only hazard control, magic bounce is very useful to make opponents think twice before clicking a hazard. Additionally, Hatterenne serves as a good switch in to tusk, able to heal off draining kiss and taking less than half from nearly all his moves. Opponents often double into Gholdengho on Hatterenne, which can be switched up on with tera water+mystical fire. However, this isn't reliable without at least one calm mind active. Finally, Hatterenne is a potential sweeper, although it is walled by clod it does counter ting-lu.
This is my first time playing Pokemon competetively, starting off in gen 9 ou. I used this team to reach 1700 last week, but it's kinda fallen off as the meta has developed to emphasise gholdengho and covert cloak. I'd like some suggestions on what to change to improve this team, and hopefully climb back up again :)
