Sunny Day Team (UU)

I wanted to make a UU team for shoddy and seeing that there are alot of pokemon that benefit from sunny day in some way in UU + NU i decided that i would make my team around that. The idea came around having charizard in my team who is a late game sweeper because he is often under estimated. I have had alot of battles with it on shoddy so far and it has given me a good amount of wins and some of most unfortunate hax defeats. The team is doing well for me however and i'd like to make my team even stronger. Well shall we take a look at the team at a glance? :

Now it's time to look at the team in full detail:

crobat.png

1. X Wing @ Heat Rock
Jolly Nature
Ability: Inner Focus
EV: HP104/Att154/Spd252
Move Set:
1. Sunny Day
2. Brave Bird
3. Taunt
4. Roost
Comment: X Wing my crobat has been doing really well for my team as a lead. Originally i had Jumpluff in there but i changed it to crobat when i had an encounter with one online. Sunny Day is good with crobat as he is an excellent starter of sunny day. Roost is to heal off Damage. Taunt it to screw up other guys even though electrode is faster. If electrode could learn sunny day electrode would be my suicide lead lol. Well crobat is as good as it gets for a sunny day lead in my opinion.

tangrowth.png

2. Bouncer @ Life Orb
Adamant Nature
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV: HP6/Att252/Spd252
Move Set:
1. Power Whip
2. Earthquake
3. Rock Slide
4. Synthesis
Comments: I know what you guys are thinking. Tangrowth isnt a physical sweeper for a sunny day team. He has to set up sunny day. Well i say wrong because i have charizard, Crobat and Jumpluff to do that already. I called him Bouncer because he would do exactly what a bouncer does when he's having fun in the sun and that would be to stop enemies from sweeping the team by sweeping the opposition like a Bouncer stops underage children from entering nightclubs with his bulk and reflexes. Power whip is for STAB. Earthquake and Rockslide are good for nice coverage and Synthesis allows me to heal up and gets a good bonus under the sun well because of the whole Photosynthesis thing :D. He has been amazing for my team, so far.

camerupt.png

3. Vulcan Gun @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
Ability: Solid Rock
EV: HP228/Def76/SpD210
Move Set:
1. Fire Blast
2. Earth Power
3. Stealth Rock
4. Yawn
Comments: Camerupt is like an artillery cannon thats well defended when he's under the sun. With the combination of Solid rock + Sunny Day he no longer fears water attacks and can phaze them out with yawn which is pretty helpful. I couldnt resist the power from fire blast because i like power of accuracy. Earth Power is for STAB and stealth rock is for conjuction with yawn. He has been helpful in instances and has won me a couple of games. There isnt too much else to say about him.

jumpluff.png

4. SpeedDemon@ Heat Rock
Jolly Nature
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV: HP252/Def6/Spd252
Move Set:
1. Sunny Day
2. Sleep Powder
3. U-Turn
4. Encore
Comments: Jumpluff is well an absolute speed demon under the sun. Comes in when the sun's heat wears off and summons the heat back again. When under the influence of the sun he puts things to sleep and encores enemy sweepers and yea he does rock. I originally had him as a lead but when i came across golbat, i decied that i needed him but he wasnt suitable as a lead because crobat leads the team so much better.

shiftry.png

5. Woodwitch @ Life Orb
Rash Nature
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV: Att104/SpA154/Spd252
Move Set:
1. Explosion
2. Sucker Punch
3. Solar Beam
4. Hidden Power [Fire]
Comments: I originally had espeon in this spot but he wasnt doing so well so i decided to put shifty in there instead. I changed him base on suggestions in the rmt. Explosion is to take out dangerous threats such as clefable and chansey. Solar Beam is for STAB and sucker punch gets STAB and first priority which is helpful. Hidden Power fire is for boosted power under the sun. The mix EV's between attack and special attack are the way they are because sucker punch needs some power without Solar Beam and Hidden Power Fire becoming weakish. I chose rash nature because he's going to be pretty fast in the long run while sunny day is up.

charizard.png

6. Blaze @ Petaya Berry
Timid Nature
Ability: Blaze
IV: 30HP
EV: Def6/SpA252/Spd252
Move Set:
1. Fire Blast
2. Solar Beam
3. Sunny Day
4. Substitute
Comments: The whole team was based around him and i cant see why he needs to be changed. Does well in late game sweeps as he usually only gets one shot at a sweep because of stealth rocks. I chose him over typhlosion because of all the other advantages that i have over the stealth rock disadvantage. One of them being is that he is immune to earthquake and he's resistant to fighting oh yea did i also say that he's much cooler looking XD. Well Fire Blast under the influence of Blaze, STAB and Sunny Day does just own stuff. Substitute is so cool as the enemy switches in a counter usually water like slowbro and gets anihilated by solar beam and its even sweeter if i have a sub up after killing him. Surprisingly enough im sometimes able to sweep an entire team with him during the early stages of the battle which is unexpected. He hasnt dissapointed me ever.

Well that concludes the sunny day RMT. I hope that anyone out there has something to say that could help my team a fair bit. I do have a problem with clefable if it manages to set up cosmic power on me. And I was also thinking about changing camerupts nature to relaxed and put explosion over yawn to kill threats while they havent set up yet. Well thank you all in advance for rating this team as i might have missed anything that could expose the team apart from clefable which i mentioned gave me trouble.

I'm not really an expert on making weather teams, but. Seems to me this team has a pretty massive Stealth Rock weakness. You've got two Pokemon x2 weak to it, and Charizard is x4 weak to it, meaning when he comes in for his late game sweep, he has to start at 50% health, since you don't have an adequate way of stopping Stealth Rock from getting on the field (Crobat has Taunt, but this is about it). If you ask me, you need to replace something with a solid Rapid Spinner to give your Pokemon support - especially Chaizard, so he's not immediately KO'd upon switch in.

I think it's also a problem that you lack any kind of priority move whatsoever. Charizard won't be sweeping anything if he's starting with 50% health, then hit by a Choice Banded Aqua Jet from Azumarill. Granted, you have a lot of speed already from things like Crobat and Jumpluff, but I think it should be considered.

Also, it seems to me that this team lacks any adequate way of dealing with Chansey and Clefable. Clefable will absorb the status you try to give it with Jumpluff, then probably Encore you, and then soak up your hits and recovery the cover. Due to all of these problems I've mentioned, I think replacing one of your members with Hitmontop might be a good idea. You can Rapid Spin, get priority with Mach Punch, Sucker Punch, and Fake Out (good for flinching), and have a better way of dealing with Clefable. You said Espeon seemed to be the weak link in the team, so I might start by replacing him and see how it goes.

Hope this helps a bit.

Encore >> Stun Spore on Jumpluff. Stun Spore shares Sleep Powder's inaccuracy, and encoring a sweeper that comes in to set up on Jumpluff leaves you a free switch in to one of your SD boosted sweepers.

Get rid of Espeon for Shiftlry, he makes an amazing mixed sweeper in the sun.

Also, tangrowth makes a great mixed sweeper-give him hidden power:fire over rock slide. This allows him to hit physical walls and is powered by the sun.

I think Tangrowth doesn't need Synthesis as much as Swords Dance or Sleep Powder. Granted, Jumpluff has Sleep Powder already, but I think it might help on Tangrowth. It's owned me in the past.

I would consider Victreebel over Tangrowth or Shiftry. Its a so amazing mixed sweeper in the Sun...
the set:

Victrebell: Life Orb
252 Attack, 112 Spe, 144 SpA
(+ Attack, - SpD)
29 HP IVs (=HP digits ending in 9: 299 gives 11 turns > 10 for LO recoil)

Leaf Blade
Sucker Punch
Hidden Power Fire
Swords Dance

Sweeps teams, probably the best Attacker of all Chlorophyllers, including Tangrowth. Here is the statistics:

1hkos Steelix after Swords Dance with Leaf Blade: Hidden Power [Fire] does ~ 80% to Skarmary, 1hkos Scizor, Forretress, 2hkos Jirachi, Metagross, and Sucker Punch 1hkos Celebi after a Swords Dance, Swords Dance Sucker Punch 1hkos Rotom-Appliances, Leaf Blade 1hkos Tyranitar, Hidden Power Fire also 1hkos Lucario. Leaf Blade 1hkos Gyarados after a Swords Dance (not including Intimidate). *Say you use Memento Jumpluff after setting up Sunny Day. Victrebell can take 1 Bullet Punch from Scizor after Swords Dance just barely, and the advantage over Tangrowth is having more Speed, allowing it to invest more into both of its offenses. *Tangrowth has to have max Speed to Outspeed the 130 Base Speed Pokemon in Sunny Day (since Hidden Power Fire reduces the Speed IVs for Tangrowth by 1, the full 252 Speed EVs are required to reach 198 or 396 in Sunny Day conditions). Additionally, Victrebel can still sweep without Sunlight with Sucker Punch if necessary.

Hidden Power Ice, I find unnessary since Victrebell does alot of damage to Flygon, and even Gliscor with leaf Blade after a Swords Dance, and can severely dent a Salamence with a Swords Dance boosted Sucker Punch (not factoring in Intimidate). Anyways Victrebell has allowed me to sweep teams with this set, outspeeds anything with less than 407 Speed (including Scarf Rotom Appliances, Scarf Heracross, etc.)

This set is also capable of surprising opponents with Sucker Punch, because alot of People don't even know that Victrebel knows it. (It has helped me secure KOs on Gengars, Alakazams, Azelfs, etc. that think they can finish off Victrebel when the Sunlight wears off)

NOTE: I have no credit for this set. hhjj have.

You are in desperate need of spin support, half of your team is weak to stealth rock. I don't know which of your pokemon you are least reluctant to drop, but I think of all the UU Spinners Blastoise offers best synergy with this team. So whoever you drop, if anyone, I suggest Blastoise.

crobat is a good lead for this. i have a friend who has been messing with using him and he single handedly killed my whole team with it. it was ridiculous.

i agree with blastoise. a solid spinner, grass and electric are resisted by youre team and he helps with an ice weakness in your team. The difficulty is finding a place for him and honestly, its up to you.
personally i dont much like charizard, hes not too fast (i mean in the way of priority, his base stat is fine) and finds it tough to overcome SR weakness. Thats just personal preference, go with him if h works for you
pretty solid team.

Exeggutor is one of the best choices for a sunny day team because it is the strongest pokemon with chlorophyll in terms of BS sporting a 125 Base special and 2x speed in sun it hits pretty hard and can sweep a team easy. Solarbeam is a must with STAB and no turn charge in Sunny Day conditons it hurts. Sleep Powder is always useful for a free turn to assess what to do. Sunny day on this set should is a should be but if you have a support poke to do that it is not compulsory but if you want Exeggutor to live longer than 5-8 turns Sunny Day is needed. Explosion is very viable to go out with a ton of damage.
NATURE:Modest
EV's: 252 Sp atk, 252 Spe, 4/6 HP
Modest packs in a massive 383 SP atk stat for you to work for and Spe in sun is 418 outspeeding literally everything other than Electrode.
Item: LO or Lum
LO gives much more power
Good Luck with the team
pretty good for a sunny day team

Oh and maybe U turn on crobat is more helpful as you might need him later to summon sun as he is the quickest on your team to do so
Btw Tangrowth is BL so i think thats not considered UU
