Introduction:

Hello!

My name is Amane Misa and I present you a stall team I have been using for a while...
5de9bd91b5935a4b3b7597dab26e35a6.png

(This amazing fan-art was made by the one and only me. Originally had an Alomomola over Clefable)

This is my first ever *original* stall team. Original stall teams are pretty rare nowadays - everyone (even I) uses `mon from ABR's old Gothitelle stall team - Skarmory + Chansey + Quagsire + Mega Sableye / Mega Slowbro + Amoonguss + [filler]. The filler is very important. It is what makes your stall team actually yours. For example, CBB used a Tyranitar holding a Choice Scarf as his filler and now ABR striked back with his stall, this time using a Weavile holding a Choice Band. We can all agree that these are quite original (I said quite since they trap things just like Gothitelle did, but both are amazing original ideas that I really admire). But... why the hell would you use Sigilyph over Tyranitar or Weavile? That shall be explained later ^^.

Now when Hoopa-U is banned, stall has many opportunities to shine again so I had to at least try to make a stall team by my own (now we only need Manaphy gone in order to let stall control over the metagame >:} )

The Team:

Tinted Lens (Sigilyph) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 132 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Roost
- Psycho Shift

Need a Bisharp lure? How about a Mega Sableye lure? How about a Fighting resist? How about a win condition? If you do, Sigilyph might be the one to do the job!

This bastard is crazy! One of the only Psychic types that are able to set-up on a Bisharp and win without need to make hard predictions and/or mind games, a Landorus-T, a Sub + Calm Mind Keldeo, which stall lacking Amoonguss is weak to, a Keldeo holding a Choice Scarf and many many other popular OU `mon and win!

Cosmic Power raises Sigilyph's Def. and SpD. so it will be really hard to kill it.

Stored Power is its main STAB attack and has 260 BP after +6 Def. and +6 SpD. (trust me, it's not hard to reach it lol).

Roost for restoring HP and stalling (that's the purpuse of a stall team, right ^^?)

Psycho Shift - THIS is how you set-up on Bisharp and help beating an opposing Mega Sableye, something that stall is really weak to. If you don't know, what Psycho Shift does is it transfers the user's status ailment to the target. Having a Flame Orb means you will be burned and what you do is just click it and burn the enemy (I will show calcs later~)! At the end of the turn you will be burned again, so don't worry! The burn does not affect Sigilyph because it has Magic Guard and no physical moves. Psycho Shift can't be bounced by Magic Bounce so don't hesitate clicking it against a Mega Sableye!

As you can see, Sigilyph has some weird EVs... I will explain right now, don't worry ^^.
132 Spe allows it to outspeed Jolly base 70 speed `mon such as Bisharp and Breloom and burn the shit out of them, 248 to almost maximize the bulk and the rest were put to both Defense to deal with physical attackers. Especially Bisharp.

252+ Atk Life Orb burned Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 128+ Def Sigilyph: 208-246 (59.7 - 70.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Life Orb burned Bisharp Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 128+ Def Sigilyph: 140-165 (40.2 - 47.4%)

0 Atk burned Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 128+ Def Sigilyph: 94-111 (27 - 31.8%)

252 SpA Keldeo Scald vs. 252 HP / 104 SpD Sigilyph: 139-165 (39.9 - 47.4%)

Yeah, it is a bit hard to beat Adamant max Atk Life Orb bisharp, but it's not impossible! I've done it a lot of games!

A replay from an alt account showing you how to win games with it: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-359950203

Cute Charm (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 12 Spe
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect

Before Clefable I had an Alomomola. I chose Clefable over Alomomola because that's my only answer to Manaphy and Mega Heracross. The EVs are to avoid the 2HKO from Manaphy's Scald under the rain, making it beatable with Calm Mind (unless it crits you). The IVs are to minimize Foul Play's damage and avoid the 2HKO from Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball (unless it crits you)

Calm Mind helps me sweep teams by setting up against opposite Clefables or Slowbros and most importantly - beat Rain Dance Manaphy 1v1.

Moonblast is its main STAB move, hits very hard even before setting-up Calm Minds.

Wish is used to heal itself and its teammates and to stall PP.

Protect is to use Wish more effectively and to stall PP.

latest

Serene Grace (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled

This set pretty much speaks by itself. Max HP and Def somewhat removes its great weakness to physical attacks, rest put into SpD.

Stealth Rocks is the best move in the game.

Seismic Toss is the #1 choice for move on Chansey. It deals very nice consistant damage and has a good PP number.

Heal Bell is to heal its teammates who suffer from a status.

Soft-Boiled is to remain healthy itself and stall out many `mon!

Weak Armor (Skarmory) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Skarmory is arguably the best wall in the game. You can't set up on it if it has Whirlwind, even if you maximize its SpD it has a high Def stat and has one of the best typing in the game. Oops, almost forgot - it has reliable recovery!

The EVs are self-explained, it helps Skarmory tank even special hits, while also being able to tank a lot of physical moves.

Spikes is for the beauty of hazard-stacking.

Brave Bird is chosen over Iron Head because of how weak this team is to Mega Pinsir and Mega Heracross.

Roost - Reliable recovery is mandatory on Skarmory.

Whirlwind - you think you can set-up on me?

Keen Eye (Sableye-Mega) @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Toxic

That's pretty much your average utility Mega Sableye. It is annoying as hell to lots of teams and is used so much on stall teams and even on balance teams.

This EV speard allows it to switch into offensive Heatran's moves while also being able to wall lots of physical attackers and to outspeed neutral speed Mega Sableyes (most of them).

Knock Off is mandatory on every stall team.

Will-O-Wisp is to cripple set-up attackers and `mon in general. Almost nothing appreciates being burned.

Recover is to remain healthy and to stall PP.

Toxic is used over Foul Play or Fake Out because lots of players love switching Talonflames on Mega Sableyes.

Damp (Quagsire) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Curse
- Recover

The last member of the team and a very important one. Quagsire's niche in OU helps it be one of the only reliable if not the only reliable Mega Charizard-X counter and that niche is its ability, Unaware and a very good bulk. Without its ability this cute would've been forgotten in NU if not on PU...

The set is pretty much self explained, the highest odd HP stat it could get, max defense and 8 to SpD because wynaut.

Scald is chosen because it is the second best move in the game.

Earthquake is a powerful STAB.

Curse helps me beat Mega Pinsir, Outrage Mega Charizard-X (it's a thing, apparently) and to beat teams in general.

Recover helps Quagsire recover HP and stall. Without it, nobody would use Quagsire in OU despite its great ability.

Threats & Past Threats:
Manaphy - if it's Tail Glow + 3 Attacks it might somehow be beaten... If it's Rain Dance + Tail Glow just click X. Unaware Clefable

Mega Pinsir and Mega Heracross - If you don't have Skarmory and/or Prankster Will-O-Wisp from Sableye you will have to hope Alomomola burns with Scald. If it doesn't burn them, click X. Skarmory's Brave Bird, Curse Quagsire and Unaware Clefable

Clefable - dangerous, but could be stalled by Chansey and Sigilyph together.

Togekiss - could be stalled if you don't get flinched by every Air Slash.

Some special set-up `mon with Substitute - Whirlwind with Skarmory or hope you survive a hit with Clefable and proceed to Calm Mind on its face. If not, click X.

DennisEG - Suggesting me Clefable + its EVs, Curse Quagsire and new Sigilyph EVs.

That's it! Feel free to post any suggestion but please don't tell me to replace Sigilyph... That will not happen!

Thank you very much for viewing this thread!

Hey dude i really enjoy watch this kinda random mon put it into a good stall skeleton or standar stall build. Im not a fan of using stall at all but after Hoopa got ban is a very solid playstyle nowondays, After reading your rmt there's nothing much to say. However, i would like to help you a bit to solve your matchup against some of the threats you mentioned in the threat list section. So let's hope into it:
  • I think the real threats are Manaphy and Heracross because the other ones can be handle or played around, but as you said CM rain dance manaphy immediately 6-0 your team, i personally think Alomomola or Quagsire are the weakess links there, 1 of the 2 can be replaced by CM Unaware Clefable just to help the team deal with RD Manaphy. If you replace Clef > Alomomola you should be careful of CB Azumarril or add Curse>Toxic on Quagsire. But if you choose that Quag is the weakess link alomomola should pack Rocky Helmet > Leftovers to weaken more easily physical attackers. Clefable with the set i've suggested allow you to always take 2 scalds from manaphy under rain, and proceed to set up and beat it 1 v 1, also allow you to beat Magic Guard clef.
  • And the final change would be add a bit more speed on sigilyph like 248 HP / 120 Def / 132 Spe Bold Nature. With this ev spred you drop a bit of special bulk but the speed is needed in case Jolly Bish or Jolly Loom which are kinda a problem, you can always go more speedy for mega heracross and burned before sweep your team. The ev spred would be 252 hp / 52 def / 200 Spe Bold Nature, it also allow it to outspeed fast tran and you can set up in front on it.
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 72 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Wish / Moonlight
- Protect / Heal Bell

Thanks for your suggestions! I replaced Alomomola with an Unaware Clefable and put Curse > Toxic on Quagsire. Haven't encountered any Manaphys yet but the Curse on Quagsire helped me beat a Mega Charizard-X with Outrage XD.

I will update the thread soon! Again, thanks for the help!

Fun fact: Giving 12 IVs on Speed to the Clefable set you suggested me actually avoids the 2HKO from a neutral attack Ferrothorn all the time (unless it crits you ofcourse).
