Stealth Rock is the corner stone of this set, as Mega Tyranitar can leverage its great bulk to provide the team with hazard support. Crunch is the main STAB move, dealing reliable neutral damage to most targets such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Serperior. Superpower threatens Steel- and Fighting-types that come in expecting a Stone Edge such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, Excadrill and Keldeo. Stone Edge can be used instead, for better neutral coverage into Fairy-types such as Clefable and to hit common metagame threats like Volcarona and Thundurus. Pursuit allows Mega Tyranitar to trap bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Cofagrigus, Cresselia, and Mega Latias. Alternatively, Taunt can be used to ensure Stealth Rock are not Defogged by Skarmory, and to provide the team with stallbreaking ability.

36 Speed EVs allow Mega Tyranitar to outspeed non-invested Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Seismitoad. 104 Attack EVs with an Adamant nature provide enough attack power to guarantee 2HKOs on Slowbro and Ferrothorn, as well as enough all-around power to make Mega Tyranitar a threat to many metagame threats like Thundurus, Rotom-W, and Zapdos. The investment in HP and SpD allows it to survive a Focus Blast from Mega Alakazam, Thundurus, and Mega Charizard Y, from full and in sand. It also gives Mega Tyranitar useful all-round bulk, allowing it to absorb special attacks from Pokemon like Zapdos, Heatran, and Volcarona.

Usage Tips
========

With its comfortable bulk, Mega Tyranitar can use Stealth Rock against a variety of different targets. It also takes on opposing Excadrill, threatening and OHKOing with Superpower. It is used best in the early and mid-game, where it can set up Stealth Rock and open up defensive cores. As Mega Tyranitar provides Sand for its usual partner, Excadrill, it can be important to time those Sand turns correctly and keep Mega Tyranitar alive as long as possible or needed. Thanks to its bulk, Mega Tyranitar can be used as a check to Mega Alakazam, Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y.

Team Options
========

The best partner for bulky support Mega Tyranitar is a Sand Rush Excadrill, which benefits from the Sandstorm it provides and makes up for the Mega Tyranitar's lack of speed. In addition, Mega Tyranitar can check threats to Excadrill such as Mega Alakazam, Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y, while Excadrill can deal with Clefables that can be annoying to Mega Tyranitar. As it is very weak against Fighting-types like Keldeo, Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham, good Fighting-type resists like Clefable, Slowbro, and Reuniclus are good partners. Mega Tyranitar appreciates strong Ground immunities like Zapdos, Skarmory, and Tornadus-T, all of which can switch into opposing Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill — key threats to Mega Tyranitar.

This Mega Tyranitar set is chosen used when the team needs requires a Stealth Rock setter provides more clarity. Crunch is the main STAB move, dealing reliable damage to most targets and threatening Psychic-types like Slowbro, Latias and Mega Alakazam. Superpower beats enemy Excadrill and Bisharp, and delivers a 2HKO to Ferrothorn. Stone Edge can be used instead, allowing Mega Tyranitar to OHKO Flying-type threats like Thundurus, Tornadus-T and Zapdos after Stealth Rocks, as well as threatening Volcarona. Pursuit allows Mega Tyranitar to trap Psychic-types like Slowbro, Latios, and Mega Latias, and can also be useful for dealing damage to select choice locked Pokemon like Magnezone and Weavile. Alternatively, Taunt can be use to help pressure defensive cores by restricting their self-healing, status-, or hazard-setting moves.

With its comfortable bulk, Mega Tyranitar can use Stealth Rock against a variety of different targets. It also takes on opposing Excadrill, threatening and OHKOing with Superpower. Its time to shine is usually in the early and mid-game. Here it can provide Stealth Rocks and open up defensive cores for the Sweepers. As Mega Tyranitar provides Sand for its usual partner, Excadrill, it can be important to time those Sand turns correctly and keep Mega Tyranitar alive until Excadrill has finished its job or no longer needs the Speed boost to succeed. Thanks to its surprising bulk, Mega Tyranitar can be used as a counter to Mega Alakazam, Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Tyranitar appreciates strong Ground immunities like Zapdos, Landorus-T, and Gliscor, all of which can reliably switch into opposing Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Excadrill — key threats to Mega Tyranitar. Rephrased it a bit

Stealth Rock is the corner stone of this set, as Mega Tyranitar can leverage its incredible bulk to provide the team with long term hazard support. Crunch is the main STAB move, dealing reliable neutral damage to most targets such as Landorus-Therian, Rotom-Wash, and Serperior. Superpower threatens Steel-types and Fighting-types that come in expecting a Stone Edge such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Keldeo. Stone Edge can be used instead, for better neutral coverage into Fairy-types such as Clefable.
