Hello! This thread serves to be a place for successful UU teams intended to help new players get acclimated to the metagame and different playstyles. The subtle differences in each tier can make UU seem overwhelming, even to seasoned veterans of other tiers. Here, you can post your own team for archiving for new UU players to use.

Posting Guidelines
  • Give a short explanation of the role that each member of your team plays, and how the team works.
  • Provide an importable.
  • You must have some experience with your team before posting. Don’t post a team you just made on the team builder and thought looked good. Providing replays is a good way to prove that you have used your team a fair bit and that it’s viable; it will also give us an idea of how to play with the team.
  • Your team must represent the current metagame.
  • Rejected Sample Team submissions will be moved to the SS UU Team Bazaar so that they still may be used by other players.
Sample teams will be selected by myself and a collection of experienced UU players.

What Are We Looking For Right Now?

We are currently accepting submissions! In particular we would be interested in a fatter submission along the lines of a fat balance / semi-stall team, but are open to any submissions :)

I built this team around SubRoost Kyurem + Tspikes. Kyurem is nasty atm and even with boots being everywhere (ban boots btw), Tspikes still go a long way in a lot of matchups, especially vs stall. Tenta also absolutely dunks on Celesteela, one of the best Kyurem switchins, which is much appreciated (creep is for Mamo, but might aswell go for Gyara while were here). This team's go to breaker is Bulu. I had smth else in this slot initially, but I needed another Zera check and this thing has the added benefit of removing/heavily weakening Amoongus aka the best poison type in the tier for Tenta. From there I added defensive Kommo with Helmet to punish U-turning scizors/ get UP, the investment is for ada Bisharp. Next up we have Steela, which is amazing on its own, sponging hits from pretty much every special attacker in the tier, but Tspikes make it even more annoying to deal with(4 Speed to win Steela wars). Last slot is Krook for speed control, Zera check etc plus great synergy with Bulu..
Like any team, this team has some obvious flaws, for example we X out vs G-Molt + Screens, Special Victini, Terrak, Gyara and Mamo are fairly hard to deal with and setup Celesteela has potential to clean sweep if positioned well, but outside of that I've had lots of fun with this build and consider it fairly easy to use.

A team based on the Regenerator Slowking + Amoonguss combo, which is quite difficult to break for some teams.
In addition to being a solid defensive core, Slowking brings Future Sight and Amoonguss brings Spore, allowing the rest of the team to break more easily. Salamence Defogs and brings offensive pressure with Hurricane. Scizor is there to spam U-turn and sweep with SD. The rest of the team is classic.

First and foremost, shoutout to Lily for helping me build this. We chose Bulky Offense to build with and started the team out with Tapu Bulu, which was originally a LO + SD set, but I ended up changing it for Choice Band, which gives it absurd power, especially under Grassy Terrain. Rotom-H was our next addition, acting as the team's hazard removal and reliable Scizor answer. It also provides Volt Switch. Primarina was then added to deal with Latias, as we struggled a lot with it. In conjuction with Tapu Bulu, they form our breaking core for the team. At the time of building this team, we had Choice Scarf Hydreigon, but since it rose to OU, I've now added Krookodile as the team's Choice Scarfer. Electric immunity, revenge kills Latias and Zeraora, etc etc. Kommo-o and Jirachi serve as the main defensive backbone of the team, with Kommo-o setting up Stealth Rock, spreading Toxic, and doing good damage with Body Press. Flamethrower is there for Pokemon like Scizor and Tapu Bulu, discouraging them from setting up on you. Jirachi helps the whole team to stay healthy through Wish, but mainly Kommo-o, Rotom-H, and Primarina, and gives us U-turn support. Jirachi's EV spread allows it to face Roost + 3 attacks Latias, but Calm Mind variants are very hard for this team to beat.

This team focuses on the breaking power of Future Sight Slowking + Choice Band Terrakion because this combination is really hard to handle. Slowking, in general, works really well with Terrakion defensively because it's able to handle Noivern, as well as handle Psychic-types that threaten Terrakion while Terrakion takes advantage of Dark-types that try to switch into Slowking. To abuse that great breaking potential, Porygon-Z was added. Not only does it deal a lot of damage itself, even if equipped with Choice Scarf, but it gives a solid win-condition to the team. Krookodile sets up Stealth Rock reliably and also cripples bulky Pokemon like Galarian Weezing and Skarmory with Knock Off + Taunt. Noivern + Doublade glue this team together by handling Grass-types, Terrakion, Scolipede and more, and providing even more offensive capabilities to the team. If you worry about Calm Mind Keldeo you can try Psyshock > Slack Off on Slowking or Hurricane on Noivern.

A pretty neat stall team that works pretty well on the ladder. Blissey + Skarmory make a really good and classic core that handles the majority of the basic metagame. Skarmory is also able to set up Spikes to reliably wear down threatening wallbreakers. Palossand sets up Stealth Rock and handles "anti-metagame" picks like Terrakion, Lycanroc and Scolipede if it gets out of hand. Mantine helps with other wallbreakers like Keldeo and Sirfetch'd and acts as a reliable hazard remover. Ditto is chosen over an Unaware wall because it deals with screens and stall better. Drapion's role is to absorb and set up Toxic Spikes and it is chosen over Galarian Weezing because it has access to Knock Off. Knock Off + Rest also helps it 1v1 common threats to stall like Galarian Weezing.

Generally speaking, there are a lot of slashes because the team is very flexible; you can change up the sets so they match up well against the people that are on the ladder when you're playing (for example, if people run Magneton while you're playing you can easily make Skarmory Shed Shell).

Some threats include SubCM or CM + Taunt Keldeo, for which you can try Haze or Air Slash, respectively.

This is the team I posted in the teambuilding competition thread, but I tweaked the crawdaunt set a little bit because I think this version is a little better. The team is a standard mienshao+washtom voltturn, built around the idea of using mienshao to uturn into crawdaunt on checks like palosand, doublade, weezing, jellicent, etc. Crawdaunt takes advantage of this and gets free opportunites to fire off strong attacks. I made it SD because I felt like it helps the fat matchup immensely which would be better suited to newer players. Rotom is here to provide a check to daunt, incin, krook, and lycan and a needed ground immunity; it also forms a devastating voltturn core with mienshao. Jirachi is here for a fairy resist and kyurem check, as well as rocks. Same set as in the last team because this is the best rocks jirachi set s/o TMM. AV hat once again helps with the noivern and kyurem matchup, and helps provide something to switch into rotom volts and a needed sturdy fighting resist. Noivern rounds out the team to provide speed control, defensive utility and free uturns into our breakers on blissey and slowking, giving crawdaunt more opportunites. The team has three mons with paralysis so you can easily turn opponents team into crawdaunt food; for example, if you bring rotom in on slowking, you can twave the kyurem on the switch and THEN volt, this way you can turn it into crawdaunt food the next time that sequence occurs. Defog on washtom and magic bounce on hat prevent tspikes from ruining crawdaunt. This team is super super easy to use and honestly pretty mindless-just make sure to keep crawdaunt healthy when playing fatter teams so you can get as many chances to break as you can.

The concept of this team is p simple, Future Sight with Slowking into Terrak gets you multiple kills on most fighting resists, allowing you to spam CC afterward. SR Krook is the glue to many teams, but with rindo so polteageist isnt a problem (assuming you broke the sash, if not, click X) G-weezing is the defogger and the primary check to Krook and fighters. Scarf Rotom-Mow so you can get in Terrak and scare out bulky waters, alongside crippling with Trick. Mixed Jirachi is a DOOZY tho. s/o to Juno for this set, but not only does it THROTTLE stall squads, but it also lures in pokemon that would eat up an Iron Head, including pokemon that Terrakion loves gone, such as Slowking, Palossand, etc.

Virizion benefitted massively from shifts stealing Skarmory from us, mixed sets are now even more potent wallbreakers, and can make use of VIrizion's fantastic typing giving it the unique ability to check Rotom-Wash, Rotom-Mow, Krookodile, and Zarude all in one single slot. Its main answers in Doublade and Weezing-Galar still take around 50% from a Life Orb Leaf Storm, making them poor checks long term. Stone Edge gives it the ability to threaten Noivern, Chandelure, and Talonflame trying to check it, and offensively check Scyther. Future Sight Slowbro-Galar helps to make switching into this Pokemon even harder, and can help to check checks to Virizion like Sylveon and Noivern for it. Rocks Volt Switch Cobalion provides a nice secondary check to Pokemon like Zarude and Krookodile, an offensive check to Pokemon like Obstagoon and Sylveon, and can give Virizion nice momentum bringing it in on Slowtwins and Rotom-W, among others.

Defensive Sylveon gives the team another Fighting-resist and Noivern check, taking pressure off of Slowbro-Galar on this front. Wish support can also help to keep Doublade and Cobalion afloat, and with its special investment it can somewhat help to check Keldeo should Noivern get Icy Winded. Noivern provides strong speed control and an offensive check to Pokemon like Terrakion and Keldeo, Defog support, noteably having a nice matchup versus the various Spikes setters being used atm like Roserade and Heracross, and helping in Webs MUs due to its consistency in finding opportunities to Defog, and invites in Pokemon like Rhyperior and Gigalith for Virizion. Doublade rounds off the team with a defensive check to Terrakion and Cobalion, a fat win con that takes advantage of Virizion pressuring all of its main checks like Rotom-W, Offensive Weezing-Galar, and Noivern, and is also the teams main Lycanroc-D check.

Pretty straightforward spikes offense. I started with Golurk + Klefki for hazards with Sharpedo for cleaning. Rotom-Wash forms a neat defensive core with spdef Klefki. Both of them can spread paralysis. Terrakion did not seem very threatening at this point so Salazzle seemed a good pick. Zarude finished the FWG core and improved the match up against Waters. It goes nicely with Salazzle especially as it pivots on Cobalion and can threaten the bulky Psychic-types in the tier. Having no removal makes webs dangerous especially when Araquanid is the setter, but Boots Zarude and Salazzle remain solid.

A screens team definitely deserves recognition. It's a basic Grimmsnarl + 5 set up sweepers. Though screens as a whole can be customized quite a bit with different set up sweepers. Most variations do not need a Rocker just because of the combined power being enough to overwhelm, but SR can still be handy for breaking random focus sashes. Terrakion threatens most of the tier with its STABs and can safely SD up with its bulk behind screens. Polteageist is a massive threat to any build without a Dark-type. Cloyster is a classic cheese mon with decent coverage. Chople Incineroar can set up nicely behind screens with Intimidate. Necrozma is always useful and is a great sweeper with Autotomize and Meteor Beam + Power Herb.

It's pretty self explanatory webs shit, mainly supporting wak as a breaker with hazard removal in Tsareena that also comes in on a lot of the stuff that'll force wak out like grounds and waters. Wak's evs basically outpace max speed base 60s with webs up. Noivern takes pressure off of wak's back to some extent gluing the team together defensively and not making wak and speed ties the things that stop coba/keld from running thru everything if it comes in on a bish knock. Speed control aside from webs is appreciated ofc, Rak is p self explanatory as a rocker, dark resist, offensive noiv/bish/etc answer. Boots can honestly be a large number of things but I went with boots mainly just trying to keep the chip on rak to a minimum because it's hp stat is actually pretty important as an out for a handful of things in terms of trading and all that, no other item specifically stood out a ton either. Bee is very self explanatory considering it's the webber, nice speed tier and REALLY great pivot for alowak which is the main thing that makes it better than it otherwise would be here, stops krook from 6-0ing, etc. Bish is the steel, fog deterrent, great speed tier/dmg output for webs in general. Taunt on noiv keeps progress on passive stuff better and makes bumass noiv not completely deadweight vs more defensive builds, which is p important since this is offense, you could do u-turn and it'd be ok tho.

Noivern was chosen as an obligatory offensive partner that checks Fighting-types for Porygon-Z, most notably Cobalion. Galarian Slowbro helps with the team's general weakness to stuff like Sylveon and Noivern and acts as a great mixed sponge that still has good offensive potential. Zarude is the obligatory Polteageist check and U-turn bot that brings Porygon-Z in on stuff like Incineroar but in general it's mostly here for the Ghost and Electric resistances. Cobalion rounds off the team as a Stealth Rock setter that acts as a one-time pivot into stuff like Mamoswine and brings in Porygon-Z safely on foes like Slowbro with Volt Switch.

This Hyper Offense team has a simple goal, overload the opponent with the pressure of setup and use Indeedee's Psychic Terrain to prevent revenge killing attempts. With a plethora of dangerous sweepers both orthodox and unorthodox you will have many options for whatever matchup is presented. Froslass and Barbaracle form the hazard setting core, with Froslass having Taunt to prevent Defog and spinblocking, while Barbaracle also contributes to offensive pressure thanks to Shell Smash. First Impression is teched onto Haxorus in order to have some form of priority for revenge killing outside of terrain as the speed of this team is not very high, and it only needs Outrage and Earthquake to pose a threat. Rotom-Frost is an underrated offensive threat that can setup on Water-types like Milotic very safely and proceed to sweep with Salac Berry's speed boost and a Nasty Plot. Finally, Polteageist is one of the more polarizing setup sweepers in the tier, easily cleaning through weakened team if it ever finds room to setup.

These teams are built around Taunt Noivern. With home it regained Toxic, allowing it to annoy most defensive cores lacking Bronzong. Juuno's variant has gone for a more standard balanced approach with the ever-prevalent core of Milotic + Umbreon + Weezing-Galar, while Estarossa instead decides to utilize Gastrodon for its unique ability to check mons like Heliolisk. The EVs on Milotic help it check physical attackers better while still living Choice Specs Chandelure's Shadow Ball at full. Imprison is a neat tech to abuse opposing Waters and prevent yourself from being Toxic'd yourself. Taunt Umbreon was chosen on these teams over Heal Bell because with the ubiquity of Taunt and status absorbers / clerics it wasn't necesarry to the framework of them, also forcing switches and allowing them to keep up momentum vs fatter teams. Bronzong is a great glue mon, even with Knock Off's distribution returning, still being able to check many threats in the tier. Lastly, Juuno's variant elects to go for some offensive firepower and revenge killing with Mamoswine and its powerful stabs + Ice Shard, while Estarossa's uses Charizard as an alternative defogger and Lucario check, which also lets him free up Aromatherapy on Weezing.

This Bulky Offense aims to keep hazards up with the combination of Gigalith and Golisopod doing a nice job of pressuring most removers in the tier, and then take advantage of them with strong breakers like Choice Specs Gardevoir . Gigalith is equipped with Heavy Slam and an Adamant nature in order to 2HKO Galarian Weezing, as well as just generally adding a bit less passivity to its other attacks. Golisopod has reclaimed its spot as the strongest First Impression user in the tier, and can use that both for revenge killing and to force things out to lay Spikes. Roserade was needed as a switch into Water-types which the team was lacking, with Life Orb boosted Leaf Storm and Sludge Bomb it can both break and disrupt with Sleep Powder. Rest lets it get back to full if weakened and still annoy Water-types later in the game. Doublade acts as the teams Steel-type and win condition, and Shadow Sneak is important for keeping threats like Polteageist in check. Lastly, Flygon is able to provide the team with some pivoting in U-turn and revenge kill dangerous Pokemon like Dragon Dance Haxorus and Drapion.

This team takes Sticky Web to utilize an underrated sweeper, Swords Dance Incineroar, in order to pressure the opposition, outspeeding past Cobalion while webs are up. Araquanid was chosen over Ribombee due to its higher bulk and ability to check Inteleon, Toxic is also a great way to pressure Noivern that may attempt to check it.. SD 3 Attacks Cobalion can also lure Noivern with a +2 Stone Edge, also providing a single use check to Mamoswine thanks to Shuca Berry. Incineroar and Cobalion both pair well together, using one to break bulky Water-types for the other. Mamoswine is the necessary rocker and another soft Noivern check, and under webs it becomes faster than any unboosted grounded Pokemon in the meta. It's priority is also key in staving off Haxorus, which can otherwise prove a threat to this team. Specs Toxtricity provides more muscle, Volt Switch to pivot in the setup sweepers, and the ability to be a check to Cobalion should it get out of hand. FInally, Scarf Gardevoir is a crucial member of the team with a Dragon Immunity, Healing Wish for a 7th teammate, and extra speed control should Webs not be up.

Vileplume is a defensive mon that handles Pokemon like Cobalion, Doublade, and Haxorus. It's also pretty good against stuff like Escavalier, CC locked Pangoro etc. and checks stuff like Rotom for the team.
Incineroar was picked as a check to Psychics like Gardevoir, Reuniclus etc. and is also capable of Toxicing bulky waters bc Vileplume doesn't rlly take them on on its own very consistently.
Rhyperior is the rocker and also checks Noivern decently, which is important because the Sylveon on this team is offensive. It's also a great answer to Gigalith which is handled by Vileplume but it's nice to have a backup answer.
Noivern is Noivern, it beats down offense and it defogs. It's important on this team because otherwise I'd just get destroyed by CB EQ from Haxorus.
Cobalion is an interesting set with an Occa Berry to account for my relative weakness to opposing Noivern (hurricane in particular) and stuff like Darm and SD Incin too. It's also a really solid wincon bc Doublade doesn't tend to last long vs my team.
Sylveon is here because I needed a solid wallbreaker, and it appreciates things like Escavalier and Gigalith being handled so well by the rest of the team. I choice it over Gardevoir because it's a better Vern check and handles some annoying things, like Ribombee and Golisopod, a tiny bit better.

Another take on Sylveon balance, this uses a Gastrodon/Gigalith/Escavalier core to deal with most metagame threats right now, backed by cleric Sylveon to keep them going and provide a solid answer to CB Haxorus. The team's breaking power comes from Pangoro, one of the hardest Pokemon to switch into in UU, who also serves as a de facto DD Necrozma check.

Following the april Tier shifts, the UU tier is expected to be fairly shaken up due to the loss off extremely pivotal Pokemon like Zeraora, Skarmory, and Slowking. For the time being I have moved the illegal teams to the Archive, the remaining teams are legal but fair warning that they are from a previous metagame and may not be the best choices in this metagame.

Sample teams will be updated once we feel that the newer metagame has settled to the newer trends with the loss of these major Pokemon and potential action on Pokemon like Alakazam, and are comfortable with publishing new sample teams. There will be no time frame on this that we can guarantee, but we will make sure that you are all aware once we begin this process.
 
Now that the UU Viability Rankings have been updated and the 7th week of UUPL is over, we feel comfortable opening up Sample teams to submissions again now! Make sure to provide a description of similar quality and length to those in the team archive with your submission!

We will be independently adding some sample teams of our own choosing in the next few days too, expect these to be updated into the OP soon. All submissions are welcome in the mean time and will be discussed for inclusion also.

Lycanroc-D squad because I felt like making something that KOs Thundy-T under webs. SR Krookodile because role compression with its typing is nice here, particularly the Ghost resist. Passho helps lure Raikou and does give you a chance at staying in vs stuff like Rotom-W and Scald Glowbro. Heattom gives removal and a Scizor check. Amoonguss gives the pivot into everything like Primarina and Scizor as it always does and is the main Knock absorber. SubCM Primarina because the bulk for Salamence and Keldeo is appreciated but I wanted the wincon here. Finally, Scarf Jirachi finishes a VoltTurn core. gives me a Steel-type, Speed control, and HW support is kinda nice for Prima + Lycanroc-D.

Short description here because as you can see I ran the same defensive core of Krook + Heattom + Amoonguss. I really wanted to give Gardevoir a try because Trace has nice utility for dealing with the Regen Grass-types and you completely wall non-Sludge Wave Thundurus-T, which is rather rare to see. Noivern gives the team some Speed control and I can get away with a 3 Attacks set here thanks to Heattom having Defog. I've been comfortable with it + Scizor BP being enough to cover a majority of really threatening things. Structurally this team is more flawed than the above simply because you really on Gardevoir as the Fairy-type for stuff like Kommo-o and Salamence/Noivern but I thought I'd share it anyway because it has been fun to use.

Playstyle: Defensive

Explanation: If you've never used a defensive team before, AKA stall, then feel free to message me as it's a different beast compared to every other playstyle.

It's unusual to run this playstyle now so I'll just mention how the team deals with common threats (S through A+) and breakers:

  • Keldeo is countered by Tangrowth mainly but if it's choice locked, clear some other Pokemon can take on the hit.
  • Scizor is countered by Salamence and Quagsire.
  • Primarina is countered by Chansey and Tangrowth.
  • Tangrowth is countered by multiple Pokemon.
  • Aegislash is countered by Umbreon and Tangrowth generally although it depends on the set.
  • NP Thunduruss is countered by Chansey although I generally lose to Taunt and Chansey needs to pivot out if it has Focus Blast
  • Gyarados, Mamoswine, and Cloyster are countered by Umbreon.
  • Dragon Dance Salamence is countered by Umbreon and Quagsire.
  • Clangorous Soul Kommo-O can be countered by Chansey if it doesn't run a Fighting STAB (and +1 uninvested Close Combat doesn't OHKO) but otherwise is a large threat.
  • Choice Band Azumarill must be predicted against with Tangrowth/Slowbro-Galar and is a large threat, Belly Drum is generally countered by Quagsire.
  • CM Hatterene is countered by Quagsire if it runs Psyshock and Slowbro if it runs Psychic.
  • Chandelure is difficult to counter - Salamence may need Earthqake or Toxic for this reason.
  • Crawdaunt is checked by Tangrowth, Umbreon, and Salamence depending on the set but hard to deal with.
  • Taunt Mew is countered by cycling through Regenerator Pokemon, Nasty Plot needs to be Toxiced by Blissey.
  • Growth Venusaur is difficult to deal with but Umbreon can hit it hard and Salamence outspeeds outside Sun.
  • Nasty Plot Heal Bell Togekiss generally just wins
Please note the team also has all the general utility moves of stall - Wish (not even necessary as all mons have decent recovery options), Defog, Heal Bell, Knock Off and Toxic.

Some easy changes you can make on the team - make Slowbro Assault Vest so it becomes the Keldeo counter and beats special Kommo-o more easily and gives you a chance against Togekiss and Growth Venusaur. You could then make Tangrowth Rocky Helmet physically defensive (or itemless) to better deal with Crawdaunt, Azumarill, and Conkeldurr. It's actually probably a better objectively to make this change but I enjoy having the slightly match up fishing threat of CM Slowbro. Salamence should probably be Earthquake to check Chandelure which is rising in usage.

I'd note this stall is good vs other stalls because it has a status absorber (Slowbro), Knock Off, double Regenerator, and a potentially useful sweeper (Slowbro).

Due to requests last time, I will be including the rejection reasons below directly for the other teams. If you would like more detailed feedback regarding your teams, feel free to ask for help in the UU Discord!

Twilight requested that his other team not be included as they were very similar structures and he felt the Lycanroc one was noteably better.

Sulo - A few issues were raised with your CB Zygarde team. One of the major problems was that it really struggled with Salamence and Noivern while running an Amoonguss, Scizor, and Kommo-o that all gave it chances. Mew matchups were also not fun here, Flamethrower Spikes Mew walled a large portion of your team and could cause inevitible problems for your 3 non boots pokemon and make it really easy to wear them down, while Nasty Plot Mew posed a humongous threat to this team.

Sulo - The Mixed Clanger + Moltres team has a hard time really beating Mew in general, especially when facing Knock variants as your Moltres will subsequently have great issues with the common Rhyperior/nihilego pairings with mew if it tries to keep Spikes off and loses its boots. The Jirachi set is also really unideal here, it tries to compress too much onto one set and becomes really ineffective as a Wish user and very passive.

TotomonGang - The Hex Chandy team has one enormous issue that's immediately present thats really hard to work around; simply put Noivern and Salamence completely wreck this team as your only checks to them are a Rotom-Wash without recovery and Lycanroc-Dusk, while they get plenty of opportunities versus your defensive Kommo-o and Amoonguss, on top of revenging other things.

mark6870 - Cool attempt to get Metagross to work in UU! This team was certainly interesting, unfortunately the offensive Ghost matchup, eg. Chandelure/Aegislash, was completely impossible here, with 3 slow Ghost weak Pokemon, and no Ghost resists.

Sulo - Similar issues with the Jirachi set here for your Gastrodon + Glowbro balance. This team in general though has major passivity issues, and needs some more offensive presence to really complement the Balance nature of the team, as it's about as passive as Pif's stall sample is but with far less staying power, reliable cleric support etc.

HydreigonTheChild - We really liked this Hatterene + Tspikes Nihilego team, but one issue we simply couldn't really properly resolve was the really poor SD Knock Scizor matchup. We discussed options such as Fire Fang Krookodile + Rotom-W instead, but we felt this really just made the SD U-turn matchup rough instead, and felt this team needed to be looked at more deeply to properly solve the Scizor issue. Atm, with Rotom-H being your only real check, Scizor just Knocks it and your Rotom then has major issues with Stealth Rock there after, especially as Hatterene doesn't have a good matchup versus most stealth rock setters, just the spikers. This was nonetheless a really cool premise and one we spent some time trying to look for some solutions to, and i'd be interested to see you spend some time on it and try to fix this issue!

mark6870 - The CB Haxorus team looked incredibly heat and something that Lily said she'd 100% have fun using on ladder. Unfortunately, this team has major speed control issues, as the fastest Pokemon is Keldeo. The team also felt like it lacked a lot of synergy in places, and some matchups versus Pokemon like Mew and Rotom-H VoltTurn sort of teams felt lacking.

JustFranco - We loved the basis behind your team a lot. There were some issues that we couldn't really fix with some small changes super easily though without destroying the identify of your team. The most major ones were the poor Spikes matchup - Mew spikes up against at least 3-4 members of your team quite comfortably, while you have no removal, and the pretty tough Zarude matchup. We also felt that the Mew set having 0 attacks was really tough to justify, really opening up the possibilities of SD scizor getting nasty late game when steelix was chipped.

laevin - We also thought that your DD mence team was quite flames. We didn't really feel comfortable with the matchup versus threats like Specs Primarina and offensive Ghosts like Chandelure and Aegislash, which the 0 attacks Mew made a lot worse by opening opportunities for them to overwhelm Mence and Zarude. Lily also raised questions of how important Magneton actually is here compared to a more useful Steel-type, and commented on the fact its basically the only thing stopped Scizor running through this team.

Since I used this team for about the first 30 games I did not save many replays because it was low ladder. My record on my alt is 49-11 with 5 of my losses coming at the end of the run so this team did well on early ladder losing only 3-4 of 30+ games. It is extremely easy to pilot and is a really fun team to use. Wish pass and Heal Bell paired with certain Pokemon like Rhyperior or Life Orb Mienshao are hard for this team but that is one of many possible match ups.

Both of these teams were successful for me. I find them to be solid and easy to use which is what Samples is all about. I hope you enjoy!

A few stall teams that I've been laddering and using for UUFPL recently. Link embedded in the images

The idea is to use Guzzlord to have an enormous amount of PP plus it beats certain threats handily like Aegislash, Chandelure, and NP Mew which can all trouble stall badly. Defog Mew is relatively unstandard but fine because it can beat Spikes Mew, which is important in this metagame as Salamence, stall's typical Defogger, dies to the common Ice Beam/Taunt Spikes Mew. Slowbro-Galar doesn't run this move combination often (usually Psychic+Fire or Poison+Water) but Poison+Fire lets it counter Scizor and still have the important Poison stab. Bulu is necessary to outspeed Azumarill and Crawdaunt.

Using stall without Chansey is OK if threats Chansey beats are generally covered (Primarina = Bulu and Mantine; Raikou = Bulu; Thundurus-T = Stunfisk). The Defoggers beat Spikes Mew which again is very important and Stunfisk is a serious threat as it lives a long time with Leftovers and Grassy surge support plus it can set up Rocks quite reliably and it has above average special bulk even for a wall. Physically Defensive Umbreon helps counter Mamoswine, Salamence, and Gyarados which all can otherwise threaten stall.

Pyukumuku is rather rare on stall but it does help reliably beat some threats like most Rest Talk Moltres-Galar which can otherwise beat some stal teams. It's a general nice surprise if you're expecting set up sweepers and unlike Quagsire it beats Keldeo including CM Variants as Spite goes through Substitute; you beat Mew too. Again, I'm wary of using Salamence as the only Defogger because Mew is such an important Spiker these days so Mew also has Defog. Again, the things covered by Chansey are generally beat especially as Specs Primarina is rare now.

I might consider removing the current sample stall right now; Togekiss with Nasty Plot and Heal Bell is ever rising and having a team essentially 6-0d by it shouldn't be in the samples if it's a meta threat now. These are all perfectly good teams but feel free to move this entire post to the bazaar thread - I wanted to post here since I think this thread is more visible and understand that some people are using the Togekiss weak stall, which is a bit of a shame.

Thought I would share yet more webs cheese for the community to plague the ladder with. I have had a lot of success with this team, and I believe that it will only get better after July tier shifts because the loss of Scizor and Mew mean 2 less Defoggers, and nobody appreciates a powerful Bullet Punch in general anyway. Moreover, the beauty of HO is that these sweepers need not be static; you can just swapped out a mon for another (we have too many viable sweepers) and do more test runs until you feel comfortable with the team.   • :ribombee: Not sure why this mon got unranked. It may not do much against Steels, but with its phenomenal speed, more often than not it can get its webs up. Toxic punishes the Rotoms and Moltres who may try to Defog, and sweepers like Primarina and Gyarados that may try to set-up. Psychic if you want to hit Poisons, Stun Spore for para hax, or U-turn for momentum. I don't really fancy Slurpuff as I find it too reliant in having its Sash used or Knocked Off to activate Unburden.
  • :thundurus-therian: Super standard.
  • :necrozma: Quite able at keeping rocks up and busted Meteor Beam is busted. Chose this over Krookodile for the better stall matchup, and it hits Quagsire hard. You could trade rocks for Autotomize as well. (Also I predict this will rise from RU)
  • :azelf: Also super standard. Gleam for better coverage as Energy Ball hits only Quagsire and Mamoswine. Fire Blast if you want more power.
  • :azumarill: Chose this over others like Gyarados and Diggersby as the latter two leave the team weaker to Lycanroc-D and Mamoswine.
  • :aegislash: Useful typing, blocks Spin, and hits hard. I tried Weakness Policy but found it too situational for my liking.
Achieved decent GXE scores on several alts with lousy nicknames, click hide tag if you want proof lol.

Conkel Squad V2

Conk is legit really good and I have wanted to build with it for a while, it comes in and punch huge holes for the rest of the team to abuse. Jirachi sets rocks and checks things like nihilego and mamoswine for virtue of being a fat steel, it is a good pivot and uses psychic to inmediately damage tenta and buzz which would be harder matchups without it. Salamence forms a really good core with jirachi checking krookodile and zarude while being a good deffoger, Flamethrower and Hurricane are interchangable, however I feel Hurricane is more valuable as Flamethrower doesn't do much damage to our steels. AV Slowbro finishes up the defensive core handling a ton of special attackers like the rotoms and keldeo, Future Sight is also incredibly good when combined with conk so there's that. Also I am running Ice Beam to secure the Salamence matchup and actually be able to 2HKO thundurus. Zarude and Lycanroc are the other offensive parts of the team, they provide good speed control with scarf and priority while also being effective late game cleaners after conk has destroyed the opposition.

The thundy and aegi matchup is a bit worse than I would like it to be, as bro gets knocked and scarf zarude is only an okay-ish aegi check but it really isn't unmanageble and your own offense can overwhelm them. Scarf + Double Prio is a form of speed control that I really enjoy on my teams as it is very consistent and matches up well against the many offense teams and random junk that ladder has to offer. I have used it quite a bit, and reached the 1600 with it I'll link some replays right below. (BTW we running the optimal shiny jirachi to bluff Moonblast 0_0, it actually may or may not be the optimal thing to do idk) (This team has no ground which is a bit worrying but cmon, its eleki we are talking about)

Hey guys now that the VR shift has happened, we are looking for sample team submissions again for the post shift metagame!

rain balance I built with Expulso for BLT -- pretty standard but with some interesting sets like Hydro / Hurri Mence that can really do lots of work in this meta. standard defensive pelipper for consistent rain and utility, defensive amoong as the premier rain grass, lefties krook to support barra through knock off, set up rocks, and provide elec immunity, tp chansey to get barra in and absorb special attacks, mence as defogger and consistent damage output, and barra to clean and break holes. it's performed really well on the ladder and in tours!

A pretty simple team of T spikes Nihilego + Scarf Krookodile. Nihilego supports the team with knock and t spikes and threatens many pokemon with its dual stabs, it can easily sweep teams with the help of beast boost. Krookodile as my speed control and the rocker of the team, it helps nihi with some of its problems like aegislash, jirachi, and allows nihilego to use toxic spikes due to krookodile being the stealth rocker. Buzzwole is the physical breaker of the team and helps soften things up for a nihilgeo or hatterene sweep at the end of the game by spamming its stabs and potentially winning on the spot due to beast boost. Hattrene covers major weaknesses of the teams of having nothing vs dragons like salamence, noivern, kommo-o, and can check zydog. Hattrene threatens to sweep many weakened teams with a boosted draining kiss. Amoonguss is the defensive grass on the team which gives me sleep to help pokemon like nihilego and buzzwole take advantage of them. More sp. def on amoonguss allows it to take special attacks such as primarina's and keldeo's hydro pump, Nihieglo sludge wave, aegislash shadow ball, and thundurs psychic. Moltres is here to deter pokemon from spamming u-turn such as jirachi, mienshao, and zarude while threatening burns to contant users such as tapu bulu, buzzwole, celesteela, and lycanroc-d. It also provides emergency defog support and is the ground immune pokemon of this team.

This is rain w/o Swift Swim which is probably crazy but it still works! It has a very similar core to km's consisting of setter + two abusers + krook&among&chans for support & role compression. Icy wind on peli can come in clutch against some dragons, especially DD mence if needed (or it locks itself into outrage and you claim w/ azu) since the team's dragon resist isnt exactly sturdy. Hurricane or Scald can work but honestly I never clicked any of those. Specs Keld under rain is borderline uncheckable, great buttons mon. Among, Krook and Chansey form the backbone of the team, keeping a decent amount of the metagame in check. Both bring great support to the rain abusers, through Spore and Teleport against the more offensive teams or Toxic chip from krook against fat Mence or Tang that could prove annoying. Azu rounds up the team and can prevent some painful mons for rain to win on preview (sub cm keld/prim, clanger), matchup against those may prove very difficult still.
This did very well on ladder, I always forget to take replays but I got wins against every major playstyle which was pretty reassuring. The team wasnt offense weak during my tests despite being swimmer-less which was my biggest concern when finishing building, and with keld & azu's breaking abilities under rain it's often possible to find a path unless you're facing tons of rain counters.

didnt feel like only putting this so let me also bring the squad I posted in bazaar, I'm pretty sure this isnt the correct way to do things, but this got built very recently, it holds up very well and it owned ramo (can send the replay if it entertains anyone but will avoid unnecessary exposure).

Band Entei is immensly fun right now, I like Flare Blitz over other coverage options, sleep talk or toxic for rawer damage output in some matchups. It also brings good utility with Extreme Speed for offense/rain matchups and burn chance which is always great early on. AV tang covers two of its greatest weaknesses (ground/water), brings utility through mostly Knock off and body slam para chance. Krook brings rock, form a good "aegi checking core" with av growth and is overall a great glue to most teams rn. Defog mence does the defog mence things, went for hurricane after a decent amount of test games and it sometimes helps, I wish I had dm in some matchups though. Scarf Jirachi brings speed control and is good at forcing (sometimes) favorable 50/50s against some scary breakers like lycan or mamo, the latter being able of running through this team with little effort. Primarina rounds up the team pretty well, brings an additional rain check in these bad weather times, notably helping against specs keld and kingdra. It also works as a good status absorber against fat and can force some good trades to put stuff in range of entei/jira if needed. (p much c/ped my bazaar post).

Hey. Ain't sure people gonna support the team because there is some gimmick in it but since there isn't a Hazard Stack HO provided yet, I though it could be nice to share mine (and if it's not accepted, it still might be useful in the Team Bazar thread). The team is straightforward, most of the time you're leading with either Krookodile or Froslass to set some EH and prevent the opponent lead to set them. Don't forget that it sometimes more interesting to grab a KO with Krookodile than setup SR and it can be similar with Froslass by getting a double KO with D-Bond or slowering the opponent Pokémon with Icy Wind. Then we have LycanDusk which really abuses EH since they're chipping opponent's Pokémon. I tend to prefer Crunch over Stone Edge in order to bypass Aegislash. DD Salamence is insanely dumb if the opponent doesn't have Mamoswine or LycanDusk to revenge kill it and acts overall as a solid win condition. MMQ is an emercengy check to a big chunk of the metagame and can really be clutch vs some MUs such as Rain teams which are annoying to face. I tend to like Wood Hammer because I was tired to be fucked up by Quagsire Stall on the ladder but if you're not afraid of it, Shadow Claw is much better in this case. Last but not least Jirachi provides a good pivot and Choice Scarf user which can support all the team thanks to both Trick + Healing Wish. Like I said, pretty straightforward, yet pretty effective.

Since I'm basic as fuck, I just went for a very simple initial core of Ground + Rotom + Grass. Lefties Krookodile quickly grew to be my favorite set, and is my rocker of choice and also gives me an Electric immunity and some Intimidate support. I opted for Toxic to help against Buzz and Tang as well, but Taunt is also good utility. Rotom-W helps me in the rain matchup and spreads burns, which are extremely valuable to wear down Grass-types and just in general. Amoong gives me a Primarina and Keldeo answer and helps against Toxic Aegi. My own Toxic Aegi is great to wear down stuff like Galarian Moltres, which can be very tricky to switch into if you get the predictions wrong. Lycan gives me some wallbreaking power and likes the Toxic support wearing down its checks. Mence rounds off the team as a defogger and I found that most times Hurricane + Fire Blast does the job well and I don't rly need Draco Meteor. Intimidate core with Krook is also cool if you can manage to get some plays right.

This is a balanced-offensive team featuring teleport Chansey. Buzzwole and Thundurus work relatively well together, and both can abuse Chansey luring in stuff like Mienshao and bringing them in via Teleport. Krook is the rocker, helps with Aegislash and Thundurus, and well as provides Intimidate support. Toxic is also extremely useful for wearing down Tangrowth. Amoonguss helps check stuff like Primarina and Keldeo, as well as provides opportunities through Spore. Finally, Starmie provides hazard control, a backup Keldeo check and helps keep stuff like Lycanroc in check, as well as provides a little bit of speed control as well.

I agree with Laevin, banded Entei is fun but I wanted to take a different route to support it. Spikes Roserade can offensively check Primarina and Azu while making Entei more difficult to switch into and by putting faster targets such as Mienshao in range of Extreme Speed. Krookodile provides the prerequisite Stealth Rock support that provides Knock Off to further cripple Salamence while also checking Aegi. Starmie and Noivern provide more speed in addition to being the backbone against Keldeo. I also just like this combination because Starmie providing Spin support means I don't compromise Spikes, and I can use Noivern over Mence for being a fast U-turn pivot for Entei and Rose. Noivern can also be surprisingly threatening as a late game cleaner while Spikes are down, and bypassing Aegi's sub with Infiltrator is a nice bonus. Speaking of, Aegislash was the last mon I added because I noticed the team was pretty weak to Lycanroc-D and in general is just a solid mon. Team is a bit annoyed by Zarude, but you can put it on the backfoot by drawing it in with Toxic Aegi so its forced to Jungle Heal as Noivern comes in or Roosts off Lariat.

This is a pretty fun rain offense I find easy to pilot. The most unique element is Omastar who is a brutal sweeper, especially post Scizor with its stellar coverage. It can set up on a fair share of passive Pokémon and its speed being kinda lackluster even after a Shell Smash is not an issue with Swift Swim. Barraskewda’s speed and strength paired with Rain and Choice Band makes it a demon against offense. Amoonguss is the teams main glue mon, with Assault Vest and some Special Defense investment it becomes a fine pseudo electric-immunity and beats opposing Rain and Amoonguss. Jirachi is a consistent rocker that can provide Healing Wish support to either give Omastar a second sweep or just allow one to capitalize on Rain turns easier. Jirachi U-turning around with Pelipper can be handy as well. Salamence rounds out the team nicely with its defensive utility against Pokémon like Zarude and generally solid coverage between STABs and Hydro Pump.

Most of this team is centred around stalling the opponent out, with CM Reuniclus as a win condition. Moltres, Jirachi, and Umbreon are all able to spread Toxic. Jirachi supports the team with its bulk, Stealth Rocks, pivoting, and decent speed. Amoonguss shores the team up against rain and most physical attackers. Salamence acts as the fast bulky hazard removal for the team. Umbreon provides cleric support and mixed walling potential. SubToxic Moltres acts as a fast PP staller that can spread damage and status with its excellent bulk and combination of Mystical Fire + Toxic. Reuniclus is able to set up on resisted hits (mostly weak special attacks) and can come in on predicted status moves.

This team is focused on outlasting the opponent and spreading paralysis for Togekiss and Jirachi to abuse with Serene Grace flinches. Togekiss plays many roles for the team: status healer, defogger, and a possible win condition with Air Slash flinches on potentially paralyzed Pokemon. Assault Vest Tangrowth helps to provide the team some backbone against Water-type assaults and scary special attackers, and aids in the anti-Aegislash effort with Moltres by threatening Knock Offs and Earthquakes. Jirachi is again the Stealth Rock support and a bulky pivot for the team, but this Jirachi can also support the team with Wishes, and abuse the paralysis that Chansey spreads. You can also opt for Thunder Wave over Wish in the last slot on Jirachi to allow it to spread paralysis itself. Chansey is the team's special wall but can also take a variety of non-supereffective physical hits, and is able to spread both toxic and paralysis. This allows Chansey to still be useful if a Ground or Steel type threatens to switch in, and prevents it from being useless against Aegislash. Quagsire is the Unaware physical wall, preventing physical setup sweepers like Dragon Dance Salamence from running the team over. Finally, SubToxic Moltres is again here to aid against Aegislash and other Steels, and is fairly fast for a stall team, outspeeding the Rotom formes.
