SS OU SS OU Exploud Team

Hi everyone! I'm posting about a team I came up with a bit ago and have been using it to decent success in the ladder.

My thought process behind the team was building a team around Exploud who is my "breaker" and helps me deal with bulky mons. This thing is honestly ridiculous with scrappy boomburst it 2 shots specially defensive Slowking-Galar, and near one shots pretty much any wall that isn't building special defense. It also has some amazing coverage that helps it deal better with the checks it has like Overheat for steel types and Surf to get some chip on specially defensive Heatran. I decided to pair it with Scarfchomp as my rocks setter that helps check some of the threats to the team, Corviknight and Rotom as my defensive pivots to help facilitate Exploud onto the field and have a way to deal with hazards/apply some status to the opposing team. I rounded up the team with a Hawlucha/Rillaboom core to have a late game win-con after Exploud debilitates the enemy and a way to deal with rain teams in Grassy Glide.

Some threats to the team I've come across are Kyurem who just gets a free-kill everytime he switches in with very little I can do other than try to have Garchomp revenge kill it afterward. Dragapult also does some heavy damage to the team depending on the set, with again relying on Garchomp to revenge kill. Opposing Hawlucha cores can also be a really big issue, specially ones that have Tapu Koko in them. I've found I can deal with most of anything else but the team could definitely have some improvements, I'm just not good enough to see where to do some work. Thank you in advance!

Hello, I love using underrated mons and I haven't tried Exploud yet so I might try your team out. Some major changes I would recommend tho (sorry i type this from my phone so I will not include the pokepaste of the updated team, but i'll explain the changes):

1. Swap Corviknight for Spdef Scizor. This gives you a sturdy Kyurem check, as it tanks any hit barring specs Focus Blast, which i'm not sure if it even 2HKOs. Even if they FB you can pivot around. Plus they have to hit twice. And you can run Defog on it too thus keeping a somewhat similar role. Just run max HP max Spdef 4 Def on it, moves would be U-Turn, Roost, Defog, Bullet Punch. Careful nature Heavy Duty Boots as item and Technician . This also gives you a Tapu Lele check, similar to Corvi.

2. Landorus over Rotom-W. I don't really think Rotom fits on this team, the only thing it deals with is maybe Melmetsl but you have Lando and Scizor for that. Plus you can run rocks on Lando freeing up a moveslot on Garchomp. Run enough speed hit 222 or 240 depending on your preference, 240 outspeeds adamant Bisharp. Max HP rest into Def, bold nature. This helps you out with your Hawlucha and Garchomp weakness. Stealth Rock U-Turn Earthquake Toxic.

3. Run Acrobatics over Brave Bird on Hawlucha, the extra 10 base power of BB is not worth taking so much recoil. Also run Close Combat over Drain Punch, and Stone Edge over Sub, to hit Zapdos.

4. Run Swords Dance over U Turn on rilla, this gives you another win con in addition to Hawlucha. Especially vs Rain once you kill their flying type, it's over after one SD.

5. Stone Edge/Toxic over Rocks on Garchomp, since you'd be using Lando for rocks.

Hope this helps, let me know what you think!

You should use earthquake over stomping tantrum and fire blast can be replaced with fire fang but thats not really necessaryly needed and replace outrage for Dragon claw so u dont get trapped by fairies after the outrage.

Thank you! I did your suggested changes, only thing I did want to keep is sub on Hawlucha. I've found many games I end up winning because I get a sub on a status move and just get to SD up. I did however change drain punch to CC and brave bird to acrobatics.

Im using stomping tantrum so it doesnt get neutered by my Rillaboom's grassy terrain, also I prefer Fire Blast since it makes it so I don't get chipped by Ferrothorn's iron barbs. I did end up changing Outrage to scale shot though because I kept getting trapped by fairies as you said.

Use high horsepower, 95 power and isn’t affected by terrain

I'd go with earthquake, and try to play in a way that doesn't require you clicking EQ when grassy terrain is active. Somehow. However if you find yourself in many situations where grassy terrain hinders your EQ, stick to Stomping Tantrum.

There is a rillaboom with grassy surge on his team
I understand that but EQ is still better because you can click it outside of grassy terrain. Sure, it may be worse when grassy terrain is up but you can play around it and while ST may do more damage in grassy terrain base 75 is still horrible so it’s not worth it

Or maybe we should give this dude other advice so his team isn’t a hyper offense/balance combination instead of arguing about one move
