SS OU SS OU Barraskewda Hyper Offense

Hey guys, it's geo here for my second rmt and first one since ORAS OU. I played hella ORAS in all tiers but mostly stayed out of gen 7. I've mostly been playing balance this gen, but I decided to give hyper offense a try. I peaked around 1550 with this team after around 2-3 hours and it feels strong enough to go further. Any feedback or discussion is appreciated. pokepaste

Barraskewda @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Psychic Fangs

I specifically wanted to give barraskewda a try as he's a cool pokemon that I've been meaning to build around for quite some time. I decided against a rain team as it's not really my style. I went with adamant as it still outspeeds any pokemon under base 120 speed: namely cinderace, while not really having any need to outspeed faster threats like weavile. I kept swift swim despite the lack of rain as max geyser sets up rain, and the double speed comes in handy for some late game sweeps. Move pool is pretty straight forward: stab, ferro coverage, dragapult coverage, and toxapex coverage respectively. Having crunch for dragapult really comes in handy when you need to ohko it in rain for game.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Next I needed a hazard setter, and with the intention of hyper offense, I decided to go with a dedicated lead. I see a lot of other lead excadrills as well so I don't always actually lead him, but drill just does so much in the current tier. Moldbreaker is amazing as the counters this gen are limited to corsola and corviknight, as well as allowing us to guarantee rocks a good portion of the games. Rapid spin for opposing hazards, but also doubles as a pseudo set up move: +1 speed drill is nothing to laugh at with its already incredible 130 base attack and dual stab.

Dracozolt @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Outrage
- Low Kick
- Aerial Ace

As I mentioned before, drills main counters this gen are corsola and corviknight, and barraskewda doesn't appreciate those walls either, so I decided to go with one of my favorite new pokemon: dracozolt. Choiceband hustle allows bolt beak ohkos on so many bulky pokemon, and even 2hkos ferrothorn and corsola. This thing absolutely shreds slow defensive teams. I specifically chose this over dracovish because he makes switches to ground types super obvious, allowing barraskweda to come in on the double. I also personally like dracozolt more as his coverage moves do more damage due to hustle and a slightly higher attack stat. Outrage is for stab and hits pokemon that resist bolt beak, low kick hits drill and is nice to have while dynamaxed, and then aerial ace is almost strictly for the dynamax boost, but I guess never missing with hustle can come in handy.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

At this point, the team was feeling a bit slow and lacking in special attack. I decided to try scarf hydreigon as it outspeeds and ohkos scarf darmanitan and outspeeds and ohkos non scarf dragapults. Dark pulse is absolutely devestating this tier so its great to spam, and then flash cannon is absolutely necessary for grimmsnarl and hatterene. I sometimes miss not having dragon coverage, but I really appreciate the momentum u-turn brings to the team, as well as think the coverage moves are absolutely necessary. Hydreigon also has decent bulk with great defensive typing, allowing it to pivot around all sorts of pokemon that might scald burn our physical attackers. This guy is absolutely great this gen and I'm definitely going to look into running more of him.

Grimmsnarl-Gmax (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 196 HP / 252 Atk / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave
- Sucker Punch
- Spirit Break

I needed a dragon resist, and am super afraid of random dynamax sweeps, so my go to fairy pivot this gen is grimmsnarl. I cannot stress enough how good prankster twave is for stopping dynamax sweeps by the likes of gyarados and hawlucha. This also helps me check annoying pokemon like darmanitan and dracovish if I'm having trouble catching them with favorable matchups. ALSO, thunderwaving a ditto does a great job of taking the reverse sweep threat off the table. Taunt is great for stopping corviknight and corsola from setting up or recovering, as well as stopping random pokemon from setting up subs or the like. I went with spirit break for the 100% accuracy and sucker punch is great for finishing off fast pokemon who have set up or even ohkoing dragapult and blade forme aegislash. Speed evs are for outspeeding univested corviknight.

Hatterene-Gmax (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psychic
- Mystical Fire
- Healing Wish

Lastly, I've needed a fighting resist, and I've been running into a lot of sticky web teams, so Hatterene is a great bulky pivot to deal with both. I haven't really experiment much with this mon, but having the threat of magic bounce on your team feels great: especially when it doesn't get ohko'd by everything like espeon. The set is pretty straightforward: dual stab, fire coverage, and an extra slot. I thought healing wish would be pretty cool on this team to bring back a potential sweeper or keep dracozolt healthy through stall teams, but it doesn't really come up much so I may give calm mind a shot. She's been pretty great so far, but I'm considering replacing her with a dragapult or something else that threatens dracovish more because I see a lot of those and my hydreigon doesn't have a dragon move.
