SM OU Spring is here , BOIS! [Reuniclus Grassy Offense]

Grassy Offense! [SPRING BOIS]

*yay spring woohoo...*

Here's my first RMT ! I wanted to teambuild around Scarf Kartana , when I started the teambuild , I didn't excepted the final result as a Grassy Terrain-based team.

And if the team sounds bad to you , you can change the half of the team , I want to improve myself at teambuilding ! (And it's the point of a RMT)

Teambuilding Process:

kartana.gif

This is pretty obvious , as I teambuild around it. I gave it the Choice Scarf to outspeed threaths like Ash-Greninja , Tapu Koko or Dragon Dance users like Gyarados , M-Tyranitar , Zygarde etc... gave it Leaf Blade for the STAB , Sacred Sword is the best possible coverage , being able to hit Ferrothorn , Heatran etc... Knock Off is here to remove items like Leftovers from Zapdos. I didn't know what I wanted for the 4th moveslot in between Defog or Smart Strike.

I wanted something that can annoy the likes of Lati@s , Zapdos , Charizard-X , Volcarona , and that can wallbreak so Kartana can clean easily the rest of the game , so I choosed Choice Band Tyranitar , it's annoying for the Lati@s thanks to Pursuit , checking Zapdos pretty well and OHKO it with Stone Edge , and it's not OHKOed by +1 Earthquake from Charizard-X and +1 Bug Buzz from Volcarona , Crunch is for the strong Dark-type STAB , the Choice Band make it hard to switch into. And here , I didn't know what coverage-move I wanted in between Earthquake or Fire Punch.

So here , I wanted many things in one or two mons : 1) Something than forces Defensive Zapdos to Roost , so I can bring Tyranitar without fearing the paralysis or getting some damages from Discharge 2) Something that can do some chip damages easily 3) Something that can revenge kill Ash-Greninja so Kartana can be at full when he'll clean. So I added M-Lopunny to the build , it can force Defensive Zapdos to Roost with Return (and having a really high chance to 2HKO full speed Zapdos) , he can do some chip damages thanks to Fake Out and it's amazing speed tier , and it revenge kill Ash-Greninja (and Tapu Koko) easily. It's giving me another mon that can clean , gave it High Jump Kick because it's its strongest-STAB , the drop of power with Drain Punch is too much. Didn't know if I wanted Power-Up Punch , Ice Punch or Quick Attack

Something that can pressure/kill Toxapex , that can pressure M-Scizor , Ferrothorn , Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu and that can place the Stealth Rock will be huge for the team , Utility Heatran was perfect for this (the Fire immunity was good too) , Kartana appreciate having a Magearna and Zapdos check as a teammate , this give me a better Stall/Balance-matchup too. Magma Storm is the Fire STAB-move that can trap the opponent , the main "switch in" to Heatran in a lot of teams is Toxapex , so you can trap it with Magma Storm and then you just spam Earth Power to kill it. Gave it Taunt so the like of Chansey & Clefable can't heal. Stealth Rock so the opponent is forced to Defog or just to get some chip damages on the switch.

As you can see , I have no water resist and no ground resist , so the likes of Ash-Greninja , Keldeo , the Rain-teams in general , Zygarde and Landorus-T will be a pain. I added AV Tapu Bulu , it makes a good bulky core with Heatran , that will now recover 12.5% of its health every turn thanks to the Grassy Terrain + Leftovers. It support Kartana well too , boosting its Leaf Blade to dumb levels. It checks Ash-Greninja , Zygarde & rains really well. Wood Hammer is the strongest STAB , Horn Leech is the secondary STAB , it allows it to heal itself , Superpower allow me to hit Heatran & Ferrothorn on the switch. I never know if Nature's Madness is better than Stone Edge in this team , let me know please !

I tested many things before Reuniclus , first Ferrothorn , because I wanted Spikes , but the team was just 6-0 by M-Medicham. So I put Defensive Mew with Defog , but my match-up against others Heatran was bad , so I gave it Earth Power , it did pretty well but not enough. And then , I put Reuniclus and it's probably the best option : Still a great Medicham switch in , give me a Calm Mind user , pretty good Heatran & Hawlucha check , and a really better Balance-matchup. It wins is 1v1 against Magic Guard Clefable , even if it start Calm Mind too. Psyshock is the STAB and you can hit Chansey with that , Recover is really important so Reuniclus can setup more easily , 44 EVs in Speed so you can outspeed Toxapex and it don't Haze you. I legit don't know what is the best 2nd move for it here , tested Shadow Ball & Focus Blast , and I wanna test Signal Beam , but I don't know.

- Here , I don't have any Defog users , so I gave Defog to Kartana , now , I'm having a Scarf Defog
- Grassy Terrain divide Earthquake power by 2 , so I run Fire Punch on Tyranitar , and it gives another thing against M-Scizor or Ferrothorn that annoys Kartana spamming Leaf Blade
- I'm not really weak to Zygarde or Landorus-T in this team , and I don't need the double priority that much , so I gave Power-Up Punch to M-Lopunny

It's a really fun team to play imo , let me know what you guys think of it !

Hey, I like the ideas you've got here and the way you have articulated them are also quite good. Something pops up, however.

You don't have an Electric immunity. In USUM, this is pretty much a necessity of every team, as Tapu Koko can Volt Switch without fear every time it comes in while getting off dangerous chip damage. Granted, Tapu Koko can't switch in freely against your team, your opponent can easily find ways to double-switch to bring it in, or revenge kill something. This is definitely something to think about, as Tapu Koko gains momentum very easily against your team - and offense relies on keeping momentum.
Lopunny seems to be the most replaceable member of the team for a Z-Move Landorus-Therian. I'm going to suggest the Rockium-Z set to break Zapdos, and it still does alright vs Celesteela. It also puts a decent chunk into Defensive Landorus-Therian for your Kartana. I have slashed the final move because any of them work fine and, through testing, you can decide for yourself which works the best for you.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Rockium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish / Knock Off / U-Turn

That being said, however, I am not recommending that you throw in your Landorus into Tapu Koko so easily, as most pack HP Ice, and Specs varients OHKO Landorus. It is there to be a deterrent in a way, though if you feel comfortable risking it, then switch it in.

Well , thank you for the feedback ! I like the idea of Rockium Z Landorus-T over Lopunny , the lack of the Electric immunity is a real problem , you're right. I thought of replacing Tyranitar for Landorus at the end of the teambuild (as they're both here for Zapdos) , but I felt unconfortable with this because of the Grassy Terrain reducing the power of Earthquake. I'll try Landorus-T with U-Turn over Lopunny for sure !

Hey itsjustaperplane! This is definitely one of the better built teams I have seen so far with the the team only having very few weaknesses, so the team does not need that many changes at all. I am going to go through a list of what I think your team is weak to and what attributes it may be missing.

What is your team weak to?

latest
: The team does get annoyed by it quite a bit, I feel. However, only the Z-Movesets really accomplish that, as you do not have switch-ins for the respective attacks. Landorus does need to get the switch-in, though, which it has the opportunity to versus 1-2 Pokémon, depending on the circumstances. So, it is managable but quite the nuisance nonetheless.

latest
: Well, seeing this thing basically makes you want to hit the forfeit button. Hawlucha comes in versus so many Pokémon on your team and once the terrain is up, it is claiming kills after swords dancing once. Now, there is fair counterplay to Hawlucha without changing a single Pokémon, though, but I am going to touch on that subject later on.
How can you improve your team?
Psychium Z > Leftovers (
latest
):
This change, believe it orn not, does take care of Hawlucha. Regardless in what kind of position you are, as long as yur Reuni is above 80%, the Reuniclus can take care of Hawluchas well, as the Reuniclus is pretty much able to OHKO it. Additionally, it is a pretty potent sweeper with Flash Cannon, as it pressures Unaware Clefable to the point, where it has to win 50/50s with Protect. It also kind of gets rid of the aforementioned Zapdos problem, as you can comfortably set yourself up to +2 special attack and then damage it with Psyshock or kill it with Shattered Psyche.
Ice Punch > Power-Up-Punch (
latest
): I think now that the Zapdos problem is pretty much out the way, you do not really need Power-Up-Punch. However, Landorus is still a semi-big problem to the team. A way of making it less annoying is if you run Ice Punch. It also poses as a threat to Zygarde or Garchomp, which can both be threatning depending on what your Tapu Bulu is at.
All in all, there is not much to change. You did a good job building this team. It barely lacks anything, it just needed a couple of minor tweaks. Keeping that in mind, great job and I hope the changes made sense. If not, then that is fine. Have fun with the team ^^

Hey patlop ! Actually , thank you for the rate , I really appreciate it !

- For the point of Landorus-T , you're kinda right , it can be a hard time for the team if it's actually Flyinium Z , I can't really check it well , but the others sets are pretty useless against my team to be honest

- Hawlucha is a pain , yeah , I have only one check and it actually can't KO Hawlucha if it's an Electric/Grassy Seed varient , in all honesty , I really considered Psychic > Psyshock just for this mon

reuni.png
Psychium Z (+ Flash Cannon) > Leftovers:

I'll test that for sure , the points of Hawlucha and Unaware Clefable are interesting , getting rid of Leftovers on Reuniclus make me kinda unconfortable , but they're definitly not necessary , so , seems to be a great change !

Lopunny.png
Ice Punch > Power-Up Punch:

Power-Up Punch was here to pressure a little bit more than usual but I don't use it that much. I'm not a big fan of Ice Punch Lopunny in general , but I'll give it a try since Landorus-T can be a huge threat

Thanks again man !
