Booster Energy Great Tusk outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, enabling it to act as a check to a plethora of threats such as Baxcalibur, Kingambit, Sneasler, and unboosted Iron Valiant and Iron Moth. Bulk Up allows Great Tusk to potentially function as a wincon by setting up on common physical threats it forces out such as Kingambit and Sneasler. Furthermore, the Speed boost from Booster Energy enables Great Tusk to set up immediately against the aforementioned threats. Bulk Up also ensures non-Tera Blast Fairy Kingambit will be unable to break through Great Tusk. Headlong Rush's higher damage allows Great Tusk to pressure foes like Galarian Slowking and Amoonguss better, but Earthquake can be used if the stat drops are undesirable. Ice Spinner rounds out Great Tusk's coverage, allowing it to deal heavy damage to Landorus-T, Enamorus, and Dragonite while also chipping Zapdos. Head Smash can also be considered, since it allows Great Tusk to lure in and eliminate Moltres as well as OHKO Enamorus and defensive Zapdos at +1 at the cost of reduced longevity due to recoil. Tera Ice powers up Ice Spinner to secure a clean 2HKO on defensive Zapdos. Additionally, Tera Ice removes its Fairy-type weakness and lets it live a Moonblast from non-Choice Specs Iron Valiant and Enamorus in a pinch while also providing a better matchup against Baxcalibur. If running Head Smash over Ice Spinner, Tera Water can be used instead for a generally good defensive typing; it flips Great Tusk's Water weakness into resistance in addition to the aforementioned Tera Ice's defensive utility. This set fits most easily on offensive and hyper offense teams, which appreciate the tremendous role compression Great Tusk offers. Since this Great Tusk set lacks Rapid Spin, Cinderace is an excellent partner, being able to provide hazard control with Court Change. Great Tusk appreciates strong offensive wincons such as Booster Energy Iron Valiant and Iron Moth, Baxcalibur, and Dragonite that can potentially work with Great Tusk to break down opposing teams. On hyper offense teams, hazard setters such as Hisuian Samurott, Glimmora, and Sandy Shocks are appreciated to assist Great Tusk and its teammates.
