SS OU Specs Torn Time (Ft. Setsustsna)

Teambuilding Process: I startered with the offensive core of specs :tornados-therian: and choice band :zeraora:. Than I added the defensive core of spdef :landorus-therian: and :slowbro:, though slowbro would get replaced with eject button :toxapex: as the bulky water pivot by Setsustsna. Than I added :corviknight: to help with matchups like :tapu lele: and :kartana:. The final member is :weavile: who helps in beating dragons, giving the team a valuable ghost switchin, and a powerful stab knock-off all in one.

Catastrophe (Tornadus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Icy Wind
- Focus Blast
- Heat Wave
- Hurricane
The star of the show, torn brings catastrophic stab hurricanes, steel melting heat waves, rock crushing focus blasts, and dragon freezing icy winds. Torn's main issue is unfortunately accuracy, since two of his moves are only 70% accurate, but also means opposing rain teams have to face down unmissing hurricanes head on. Regenerator mitigates Torn's weakness to stealth rocks meaning its not as limited in its switching in as other mons.

Clout lion (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 4 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Toxic
Standard spdef lando, not much to really say here. Toxic is used over knock off since we already have two offensive users of the move. Setsustsna's variant uses defog instead of stealth rocks for double defog.

Gibralter (Toxapex) (F) @ Eject Button
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Knock Off
- Haze
- Recover
- Scald
Eject button lets pex act as a one time pivot when hit. Pex is naturally a great wall and can take many attacks, also Regenerator helps it keep coming in and out of battle healed up.

Gigawatt (Zeraora) @ Choice Band
Ability: Volt Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Toxic
Cb zeraora, this thing can decemate weakened teams once the ground type is dead. Toxic is used over play since it is more effective than play rough at beating lando over the long game.

Caeser (Corviknight) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Roost
- Defog
- U-turn
- Brave Bird
Corviknight is here as a special wall that takes hits from the likes of lele and pult. Brave bird is used so that corv isnt passive, especially against threats like sub by landorus.

David (Weavile) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
Weavile here rounds off the team with its ghost resistance and access to ice stab. While Setsustsna opted for a choice band weavile with low kick here, I went with sd + hdb set so that I could set up if I ever got the opportunity and start reking havack. Adamant is used over jolly as I don't need the speed control thx to zera already being on the team. Icicle Crash is used over triple axel for a more reliable ice stab, though TA is still an option.

Here are some replays with the team, and even though they are mostly the old version, they still give a good idea of how the team is played.

Just came here to give my input and why I made the changes that I did.

Peak (two alts in top 52, 53). I actually got three alts in top 100 and one of them at top 50 but didn't get a ss

My Version
https://pokepast.es/072f038429d5e818

Eject Button Pex > Slowbro
The team with slowbro makes it a bit easier to play around, but it's way way weaker to both volcanion and weavile. Eject button makes weaviles knock offs weaker in the late game. The team can manage SpDef Heatran a fair bit, but it just can't switch at all against eruption heatran, so eject button helps you for at least 1 turn.

SpDef Corvi
The original version was mixed corvi, which could barely handle lele. I just made it full spdef since you don't really need to handle any physical mons besides like dd pult, and it helps a lot against lele.

Defog Lando
Since you already have Specs Torn, might as well make weavile cb and lando defog for the support. A single round of rocks doesn't help calcs in any way. A couple of rounds do help, but I find it very difficult to both keep them up and set them up in the first place. The 4 speed Ivs are so that you are faster than 0 speed heatran.

CB Weavile + Toxic Zeraora
I did think a lot about the last move for zera, it could either be volt switch for pivoting, play rough for garchomp and buzzwole, or toxic. However, I realized that TornT and Weavile already deal with Garchomp fairly well, and for breaking through buzzwole with play rough, you would have to get the predict right a couple of times, which is just very hard to do. Toxic allows you to just have to predict buzzwole once, and then cb plasma fists, icicle crash will beat it later on.

Calcs

Specs Icy Wind + Zera Knock Off on SpDef Lando
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Zeraora Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian: 103-122 (26.9 - 31.9%)

Weaknesses

:Heatran: Eruption + Magma Storm Variant
:Buzzwole: + :Chansey: or :Buzzwole: + :Blissey: Specially if one of them has aromatherapy
:Weavile: CB Beat up
Hazards stack. This one is just hard man lol

Couple last things

I have been playing a lot with this team and peaked around top 40 so far, as I said before. I sadly don't have many replays since I've been focusing on ost and not laddering. I'll make another post in the future with replays and a higher peak if I manage to get it. Thank you for reading!

New version I tried for a while: https://pokepast.es/5475cd8f99eac2ba

Changes since my last version:
  • Corvi 25->0 speed IVs
  • LandoT 4 speed IVs -> 0 speed IVs and sassy nature
  • Corvi is now shiny (cool!)
New Peak Top 30:

Few more observations:
  • Rain is hard but doable
  • Electric spam kinda hard, as they weaken LandoT and the team just crumbles to Koko after that
  • Nidoking :I
  • Gotta play aggressive against pex. If you weaken it once, don't let it recover at all.
Ty for reading!
