This is my first RMT, I would be happy for some feedback from the community.
Also my English is not that good so Im really sorry for any grammer mistakes I make in this post.
Introduction
This trick room is a bit unusual as it's main slow sweeper is a bit unusual and the movesets of the pokemons on the team may seem kind of strange, but all of those make this team to have a great syrengy.

More Explanation On The Team
Sylveon @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Hyper Voice
- Protect
- Stored Power
- Calm Mind
Sylveon is the main sweeper on this team - and also the main win condition of this team.
I chose to use Sylveon for a couple of reasons:
It has access to a multi-target move (Hyper Voice)
It has a move that can go through substitutes (Hyper Voice)
It has a low enough speed (which works well with the trick room set up)
It has a high spDef stat and an avarege spAtk stat
It has access to the pixilate ability, which grants normal moves the fairy typing (which no pokemon is immune to) which also gives x1.3 base power to his normal attacks and a x1.5 stab damage, and is the only one to access this ability without any mega evolution (which allows it to hold an item)
It has access to the Stored Power move - which works well with the weakness policy and it's calm mind.
The quiet nature is used to achieve minimum speed on Sylveon to get the most out of the trick room
A little bit about the moveset:
Hyper Voice - goes well with pixilate, 90 base power with WP would be enough to do some massive damage to all opposing pokemon
Protect - In case the upposing lead is heavily offensive, using protect would be pretty much letting Sylveon to be graced until the first turn setup is done
Stored Power - This is used for two purposes:
* beating extremely tanky pokemon
* Countering a wide guard strategy
This move deals an high damage especially when used with shuckle's acupressure
Calm Mind - In case shuckle is down earlier than I expected I wanted Sylveon to be able to setup on his own, so I went with calm mind
Shuckle @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 200 Def / 60 Spe
Impish Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 Def / 0 SpA / 30 SpD
- Hidden Power [Poison]
- Guard Split
- Power Split
- Acupressure
Shuckle is used as a support pokemon in this team (such a supprise), but is really different from the normal shuckle set.
Shuckle is used in this team for several reasons:
Sylveon is really weak in the physical side and his spDef is high, but I would want it to be higher - by using a guard split Shuckle I am able to double Sylveon Def and multiply his SpDef by 1.5.
I wanted to trigger Sylveon's weakness policy without doing almost any damage - a minimum spAtk Shuckle with HP poison works really well with doing that.
Also another positive side for this shuckle is to counter an opposing taunt, as shuckle would go for HP poison on Sylveon first turn instead of a normal setup move, it also allows shuckle to not use struggle while taunted.
The impish nature is used to reduce speed (for trick room) and to boost Shuckle's defense for the guard split on Sylveon.
A little bit about the moveset:
Hidden Power (Poison) - It's used to trigger Sylveon WP without doing alot of damage and also to not use struggle while taunted, could also be used to down focus sash opposing pokemon
Guard Split - Sylveon has a low Def stat and many steel type attacks are physical, by using Guard Split on Sylveon his base spDef and Def both go up to around 400.
Power Split - In case of an offensive lead that could risk Sylveon a power split on the most dangerous attacker for Sylveon while using protect on Sylveon could spare Sylveon until the trick room set up is done
Acupressure - This is an interesting one: It could be used for both setting up shuckle so Ninetales could go and use psych up on shuckle and to sweep by itself or to make Sylveon stronger/bulkier and it's stored power stronger
Slowbro-Mega @ Slowbronite
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Light Screen
- Heal Pulse
- Slack Off
Slowbro is used as a support pokemon in this team as well as the main trick room setter, he's also really slow which allows it to move first usually after setting up trick room.
His support is really important to help Sylveon sustain through the 2-3 first rounds of the battle.
The relaxed nature is used to lower Slowbro's speed to get the best use out of the trick room.
A little bit about the moveset:
Trick Room - As a really bulky pokemon by nature, Mega-Slowbro is really reliable for setting up the trick room
Light Screen - Just another damage reduction for the team to make Sylveon sustain through the first few rounds of the battle
Heal Pulse - Used to heal Sylveon if the opposing team damaged it too much in the first rounds, also used to heal shuckle in case it starts to run low on health
Slack Off - Didnt have an idea for a 4th that will suit this set well, slack off was the best I could think of to help Slowbro to stay alive through the battle
Ninetales @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Psych Up
- Solar Beam
- Rest
I wanted a 2nd win condition and a good swap for when Sylveon gets low, another thing I wanted was a no trick room sweeper - just in case something went wrong with the trick room strategy - Psych Up Overheat Ninetales combined with Skill Swap Contrary Spinda looked like a really good choice, as it also grants me a really threatening counter for steel types that threathen Sylveon.
Also with Slowbro's Light Screen Ninetales' Drought abillity most water attackers will not be able to take it down easily.
The timid nature is used as it looks as the best option to use without trick room active.
A little bit about the moveset:
Overheat - Used to take down some steel threats that threaten Sylveon, in case Spinda swapped contrary to Ninetales it would get a SpAtk boost; In the other scenario Ninetales could use psych up to restore it's stats.
Psych Up - If Shuckle already buffed himself or Sylveon is already buffed, or the opponent is buffing himself, Psych Up gives me an oppertunity to buff Ninetales and by that effectively making it a really threatening sweeper as well
Solar Beam - Combined with the Drought ability, it could easily heavily damage / take down (especially if already buffed) upposing threats (Ground, Rock and Water types)
Rest - I wanted an option to recover after I've got some stat boosts on Ninetales, Resto-Chesto looked for me as the best way to allow it to recover it's health
Spinda @ Focus Sash
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Skill Swap
- Rapid Spin
- Wish
- Hypnosis
Spinda provides another great support to the team with wish to heal the team, Skill Swap to give Ninetales the contrary ability and to counter opposing Wonder guard baloon electric pokemon / Sturdy shedninja and etc. It's rapid spin is useful to get rid of entry hazards and to take down focus sash pokemon. Hypnosis is great just for disabling opposing sweepers / support pokemons.
The sassy nature is used to lower Spinda's speed to get the most out of the trick room
A little bit about the moveset:
Skill Swap - Used to counter alot of Wonder guard / Other abilities based strategies, also used to give Ninetales the contrary ability and re-activating the Drought ability by swapping it to an opposing enemy.
Rapid Spin - Used just to not struggle at taunt and clean any annoying entry hazards
Wish - Used to heal team members or in some weird scenarios to heal Spinda itself
Hypnosis - Just to try and disable an upposing pokemon for some time, could be really handy in some situations.
Malamar @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Topsy-Turvy
- Trick Room
- Superpower
- Knock Off
Well, this team needed a 3rd win condition, which is used with trick room as well, in case the trick room is still on, it also needed a way to get rid of opposing pokemons' boosts, I also wanted to ensure I have another trick room user on my team, Malamar was the perfect choice for that.
The brave nature is used to lower speed to get the most out of the trick room.
A little bit about the moveset:
Topsy Turvy - Used to weaken opponent boosts, or to buff Ninetales after using Overheat before earning the Contrary ability.
Trick Room - Used in case I need to setup trick room again and slowpoke is already fainted.
Superpower - Used as in the normal contrary malamar strategy, also allows Ninetales to psych up malamar and to get some defense by doing that.
Knock Off - A stab dark move, to counter opposing psychic/ghost types, also allows me to counter some strategies be knocking off the opponent's items.
That's all for this team be sure to check some of the team footage on Showdown:
