Going from 4-1 predicts in week 1 to 1-4 in week 2 is kinda depressing, but I suppose it goes to show how competitive and unpredictable this pool is. Let's move on to week 3:

SV UU: Skarpherim vs Amukamara aka the tera blast ice torn+scarfdrill user vs the sd cobalion user. I'm ngl Skarph's creativity caught me off guard last week (me and many others i bet), showing us he can take on anyone. On the other hand, Liam is the only other 2-0 in this pool besides Punny, so that speaks for itself. Gonna be a close one but going with Liam.

SV UU: bbeeaa vs JustFranco how much must a man hate grimmsnarl, in order to use a max hp scarfed brick break okidogi? A lot. Bea got his first sheet win as a UU mainer after loading a fantastic mu against Lily, while Franco showed us a different type of team than the ones he usually prefers and took a huge win against pdt, albeit with some luck in the end. It still shows that Franco can be unpredictable so I'm gonna bold him due to his much larger experience in the tier.

SV UU: Lyssa vs Lily Crazy how they've both started at 0-2, but here's my biased take of the week.

SV UU: Punny vs pdt time for the 2 best players of the pool to clash, according to the UU experts. The winner of this game will get established as the top dog in this pool, perhaps. Bolding Punny just cause I have to bold someone, very hype game.

SV UU: TPP vs vivalospride I trust in the vivalos-mossy duo to bounce back vs TPP. Tons more experience, not much more to say about this. I guess this is also the part in which I should say that I hope Vert's situation turns out well :pray:
 
hm last week didn't go the best. hopefully this week is better (5/10)

SV Ubers: entrocefalo vs. false - Ngl I didn't expect 0-2 entro to be reality. HOWEVER. I really really did not like false's game vs Reje last week. There were a lot of misplays that could've been avoided (like the tera fairy on treads) while entro hasn't really had that; week 1 he lost to an 18% roll and a speedtie and week 2 he got cteamed. Given that context I def still favor entro here

SV Ubers: Kate vs. Icemaster - Certified banger. I probably favor Kate here but like. Ice can totally just fish harder and get the W :totodiLUL: mu fish ass tier

Uncharted Terrors vs. Circuit Breakers
Reje vs. M Dragon - I don't know enough about either player's history in this tier to really judge this one, but I favor M Dragon based on his clean game vs Kate and Reje's messy W vs false

7u9i2 vs. RichardMillePlain - Richard has been doing super solid while 7u hasn't had the best results so far. Giving it to Richard.

Yo, we are back with WEEK 3 of our predicts. The total tally so far is 35 predicted games out of 78 (people getting subbed out don't count as predicts) .. so we're ass. Sub-50% success rate. Worse than the Ape.

We tried something new today that might provide more content and feedback specifically into replays. Feedback is appreciated as always and hopefully people will enjoy this yap session over a nice walk in nature or something

SV NU Week 3 Preview

[PLA] watashi vs etern [GIB] - GAME OF THE WEEK

watashi had a solid performance in Week 2, demonstrating again sharp decision-making alongside something new a well-constructed team. The inclusion of Protective Pads Shao was a smart move, adding depth to an already strong lineup of top tier NU mons. To highlight his continuous top tier clicking a standout moment was when he read Nunes, Boombursting raw with Toxt against Flygon, which helped secure a key KO on Zong eventually.

Etern fielded a capable team but struggled with execution. While he didn’t perform poorly, but he missed some key opportunities. The Bulk Up Scrafty could have set up against Quag, Muk, and Zong, especially with a Tera boost, potentially winning the game on the spot after a +2atk+2 def boost. Instead, the endgame hinged on a series of Air Slash flinches, highlighting a lack of favorable outcomes when it mattered.

This matchup is certainly one to watch, as watashi builds on his momentum from two strong outings. Etern, aiming to avoid an 0-3 record, will do everything he can, he is on the right track in the end, just needs a bit more luck . Expect focused and high level gameplay from both, but given their recent performances, I’m leaning slightly toward watashi in this next game.

[DYN] McMeghan vs Stories [TMS]

Roro is making waves with a solid 2-0 record after another dominant win, utilizing a completely off-meta stall composition featuring Ditto. It’s interesting to note that the last player to find high-level success with stall in NU was Freezai’s teammate, Diamonds, who topped the ladder with stall months ago. Since then, the meta has shifted dramatically towards more offensive and balanced teams, especially with the rise of Chansey making traditional stall seem less viable. Yet here we are, with Roro proving that unconventional strategies can still shine, executing his game plan effectively.

On the other side, Stories faced off against BJ last week in a match that was decided by some tough luck. Her +2 Atk, +2 Speed Scrafty took five turns to activate Shed Skin, with only a 20% chance of that happening. If Toxic had ended just one turn earlier, she would have avoided being in Scarf Flygon’s outrage range and could have potentially won the game. There were also risks taken with staying in Flygon, as it could have been bluffing a Scarf; even if it was Banded, a Tera Bug First Impression would have KOed it . This interaction highlights Stories' tendency to take risks, which often pays off, but this time, it led to losing Scrafty and opened the door for a Demon Zong sweep.

The upcoming match between Roro and Stories should be exciting to watch. Roro’s ability to keep bringing wacky strategies and perform well with six random Pokémon is impressive. Stories has enough courage that she might just be the one to match Roro’s creativity. We could be looking at a clash between a Sand Team and a Hard Trick Room next week.

Honestly, this matchup feels like a coin toss. Both players are in great form, and what they’ll bring to the table is a complete mystery.

[TER] Elias PSY vs Freezai [BRE]

Elias really proved me wrong last week, putting on a strong performance against Etern. He effectively disrupted Etern's pacing and didn’t allow him to set up Scrafty, playing aggressively with Volt/Turns and consistently applying pressure. This time, he used again Legion/Kilo duo but this time in different composition and had some really nice touches like bulky lefties Legion and Protect Kilo. Despite facing a matchup that wasn’t in his favor, he navigated the game well, making the right moves most of the time.

On the flip side, poor Freezai faced a tough challenge in week 2, getting stalled and then Dittoed. However, his team was a definite upgrade from week 1. Against any meta team, it had the tools to compete effectively. Decid is a nice pick right now, easily handling threats like WetBull and Zong while avoiding contact punish. Its versatility adds even more value to his lineup. Still, it was a difficult matchup for him, and like the previous week, his gameplay was solid.

Looking ahead, I’m putting Elias slightly ahead this week. Freezai has shown improvement, but Elias seems to have a better grasp of the meta, which is where the real advantage lies.

Odds: 55-45
[FOX] Danny vs Dr. Phd. BJ [ISL]

DANNY HAS ARRIVED,he’s officially on the board with a win against zS, and it was a well-deserved victory. The game featured some favorable crits for Danny, but he really excelled at shutting down zS’s Webs HO. The Wisp from RedBull was a game-changer, and his Tera usage was spot on. Overall, he played smart, avoiding unnecessary risks and steering his team to a clean win.

DRPHDBJ, as I mentioned in the Stories recap, had a bit of luck on his side. Even when facing a boosted Scrafty, he kept maximizing his chances with well-timed protects. The play where he anticipated the encore lock and switched to Lazzle was huge! Another week, another win for him, showcasing strong fundamentals and an impressive S-tier team build. Did he get lucky against Stories? Sure. But he executed his game plan effectively regardless.

This matchup could easily have been the game of the week. We have two players on the rise, both with similar gameplay styles, teambuilding philosophies, and support systems. The only reason it doesn't take the top spot is the 1-1 vs. 2-0 record, which lowers the pressure a bit. However, that might actually work in their favor, allowing for more creative plays and risks taking.

All in all, this match promises to be exciting. The biggest winner here will be the viewers

[SHO] zS vs [SPA] Thiago Nunes

This week was rough for zS, who now sits at 1-1 after facing Danny. He brought a Webs HO against a team that just didn’t care about it, and the RNG definitely didn’t do him any favors. Danny got a couple of huge crits, landed a Wisp, and activated poison touch repeatedly while zS missed a Hurricane. The game-changing moment was definitely that Wisp hit, which was an 85% chance that went Danny’s way.

With all the Boots Spam and Levitate+Flying teams around, Webs didn’t seem like the right call. But we did see the strength of Life Orb H-Braviary; if not for A-Muk, it could have swept the game. Also, if zS had gone for a Tera and DD again with Thorns, he might have pulled off a win with an EQ/ Ice Punch/Supercell Slam. Despite the tough matchup and bad RNG, he kept it close until the end, which says a lot about his skill.

As for Thiago his team building, it’s still on point. The synergy of his six Pokémon is solid. Specs Inteleon could be a real threat, especially with less Vaporeon floating around. Unfortunately, he faced one. But regarding gameplay he was still super passive/predictable if had a super effective move, he was using it.

Looking ahead, I think zS should take his next match comfortably. Thiago really needs to step up if he wants to make this interesting. He has the experience and a good team behind him, so he could definitely turn things around, but so far, he hasn’t shown much to suggest that will happen.
