Hello, this is my first RMT so if I do anything wrong just let me know please. I've spent a lot of time making random teams and this is the first time I've decided to come here for extra advice as I never seem to be able to break 1700 and just float around the 1600s. (Edit: Advice is already paying off and I've managed to get past 1700) I made this team because I thought that I could get Slurpuff to work well in OU with the prevalence of dragons and it did surprisingly well.
Proof of elo:
My name is different on ladder hopefully this is enough proof.
Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough
- Return
- Drain Punch
Just the standard belly drum set really nothing too fancy but it hits hard. Manage to get belly drum a surprising amount of times against many threats, mainly dragons. If there is no strong priority on the other team this is usually my win condition. I like drain punch as it give Slurpuff more longevity and covers most types really well with these three moves.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Heart Stamp
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
Standard choice scarf user this is here for gaining momentum and for dealing with weak fast threats such as Mega-Zam, Gengar etc. Obviously the 60% chance to flinch is nice even though it doesn't always seem to go in my favour... Healing wish is good usually getting sent to Breloom or Zard-Y.
Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost
This thing hits like a truck and decimates teams that don't run a check for it. I went with modest because it usually forces switches and it can two hit KO a huge amount of Pokemon in the meta. This mon also helps me deal with rain teams that I would usually struggle against and he just does his job quite well.
Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Swords Dance
I love breloom and usually use him as a sort of anti lead most games, he seems to deal with Garchomp and Landorus-T very well and I hate dealing with those two leads. Obviously the sleep leads to hax but not much I can do about that. With a swords dance it hits very hard and Breloom gives me a much needed answer to pokemon such as Mega-Lopunny and Chansey.
Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost
- Defog
Not really a much better offensive defogger in the meta so Latios seemed like an obvious choice. Gives me good type coverage and due to its natural bulk it can usually take a hit and swing back even harder and get a kill. Not much more to say about this, solid.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 188 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
Heatran is my lead usually I realise that this set doesn't really fit in with the hyper offense theme very well but it does its job ok. Its my much needed Talonflame counter as without this it could easily sweep my entire team and its a good rocker. Also good to switch in on most specially attackers and eats up hits incredibly well. Deals with a variety of walls and is also my makeshift Mega-Sableye counter.
Threats:
Mega-Medicham
Seems to get an auto win against my team if I don't play around it well, I have no switch ins and if it comes in against the right mon it kills something every time.
Mega-Manectric
This mon seems to be able to do whatever it wants against my team and although its not a hard counter and Heatran walls it mostly I don't really have a good answer to this mon.
I feel like my team is quite balanced and I made sure to try to answer as many mons as possible but I can't seem to break into the higher ranks and I just wanted feedback on my team to see if that had anything to do with it. Its more than likely just my play but I thought it'd be fun to get constructive feedback from the community. Again please let me know if I'm breaking any rules or anything and anyways I could improve this post. Thanks!
