Slowbro is one of the sturdiest walls in NU thanks to its great defensive typing, allowing it to check threats like Cloyster and Lucario, access to reliable recovery, and an amazing ability in Regenerator! Calm Mind allows Slowbro to double up as an offensive threat. Scald's burn chance makes it extremely spammable and makes Pokemon that would otherwise take advantage of Slowbro like Flygon and Alolan Muk fear switching in. Psychic Noise acts as coverage and notably allows Slowbro to beat other Slowbro sets. Covert Cloak allows Slowbro to sometimes win the mirror matchup thanks to making it immune secondary effects from its attacks, although Rocky Helmet is an alternative to chip down physical attackers. Tera Poison gives Slowbro a valuable defensive typing, allowing it to flip the matchup against Alolan Muk and Brambleghast, as well as giving an immunity to Toxic. Slowbro pairs well with special walls like Alolan Muk and Incineroar, creating a solid defensive core. Mienshao is a notable partner thanks to pivoting in Slowbro as well as forming a Regenerator core with it. Slowbro struggles with strong Electric- and Dark-types like Magnezone and Brute Bonnet, so checks like Flygon and Incineroar make solid partners.

Calm Mind allows Slowbro to boost its Special Defense while at the same time making it less passive thanks to the Special Attack boost. that's a weird way to phrase it, the goal of calm mind is to turn slowbro into an offensive unkillable monster Scald's burn chance makes it extremely spamable and makes Pokemon who would otherwise swap and capitalize on Slowbro like Flygon, Krookodile, or Alolan Muk fear swapping in id mention something that resists water, rather than krookodile that would die to surf, tsareena and brute bonnet are good options. Psychic Noise acts as Psychic-type coverage and notably allows Slowbro to beat opposing Slowbro also helps against most walls ngl thanks to blocking Slack Off.
