One of the most heavily debated on match ups of all time. Which is the better physical wall; Skarmory or Hippowdon? The winner of this match up in my opinion deserves the title 'D/P Standard Physical Wall'.

Skarmory vs Hippowdon

Hippowdon doesn't get 2HKO'd by Heracross's Close Combat's. Can get only 3HKO'd by Tyrani-Boah if Ev'd right and is genrally better at evrything Skarmory does except for countering gyrarados. Skarmory also gets OWNED by Magnezone so Hippowdon > Skarmory
This its very true Skarmory only walls Gyarados better or so I have found from experience
If it depends on the team, then a standard team with the basic necessities. A mixed sweeper, physical sweeper, special sweeper, mixed wall, physical wall (Skarmory or Hippowdon) and special wall.
A pokemon really depends on the team as everyone has said.
though I would go skarmory. IMO it's more versatile, Has option to spikes, which hippowdon can't. Both have 50% recovery, Skarm i believe is faster, and skarmory has more resistences...with two weaknesses that can be utalized into easy immunities with electrivre and heatran around.
Ill go Skarmory as it can wall and attack....it can surprise with brave bird.
So in terms of versatility : Skarmory

I still prefer Weezing, but Hippo over Skarm. More Hp, more offensive power.

But Hippowdon can use Stealth Rock also, which is considered best of all three entry hazards. (One turn setup, hits everything)
