Ive been playing competitive for about two months or so using a Heatran team i found in RMT and ive gotten quite bored of using that, so i wanted to try something different and i ended up with this team. Win-lose rate using this team is pretty okayish (2:1 ratio probably) but the team seems to have lots of openings which i wanted to fix. I know its not good, just wanted some opinions on how i could improve it. The team revolves around mega-tank shuckle, which i havent seen in any OU team till now.

Wat (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunderbolt
- Fire Blast

Clefable is one of the best fairy types in the game and i felt like i'd need a good fairy type pokemon considering the fact that most OU teams have Fighting, Dragon and Dark type pokemon in them. The EV spread helps to prevent 2HKO moves from taking it out. It also acts as good bait against Taunt spammers who expect it to only be a support pokemon.
Moonblast is for STAB and to take out dangerous pokemon like Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny.
I started off with Wish as my HP recovery move since it also helps in recovering HP to other team members but waiting a turn to recover HP got me destroyed several times when facing 2HKO moves like Latios's Psyshock etc so i decided to go with Soft Boiled instead.
Thunderbolt is to take out annoying water types and especially flying types that might pose a danger to Venusaur
Fire-blast is helpful when faced with steel types (especially against Bisharp)

Overgrown Bush (Venusaur) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 96 Def / 144 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

Mega-Venusaur plays the role of the primary tank in my team. Its good typing takes gives resistance to many types which are quite commonly used in competitive and thanks to Thick Fat, it easily tanks hits from Fire and Ice types which could otherwise pose problems. Its also a good choice to switch in for when facing Bisharp.
Sludge Bomb takes out troublesome Fairy types and acts as a 2HKO STAB against types that don't resist Poison moves. Also, it frequently poisons the opponent making it an obligatory move.
Giga-drain is secondary HP recovery and takes out Water types with ease.
Hidden Power is to take care of Ice Types and to switch in for Slowbro when faced with an opposing Grass Type pokemon. Its also pretty useful against Bisharp.
Synthesis is HP recovery move when faced with a type that resists Giga Drain (for eg Bisharp)

Chill Pill (Slowbro) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Flamethrower / Calm Mind
- Slack Off

Slowbro plays the role of a secondary tank taking care of otherwise hard to deal pokemon like Mega-Medicham and Excadril. Its good base stats make it a very useful pokemon and Regenerator is very useful to get out of tough situations.
Scald is obligatory STAB move which also frequently burns the opponent making it a must have
Psyshock to take out Fighting type pokemon and also is a good counter when facing the occasional Mega-Venusaur (although it is pretty risking considering how dangerous Giga Drain can be)
Im stuck between Flamethrower and Calm Mind, because Calm Mind is a pretty useful move but then again Flamethrower easily takes out Grass types as well as Ice types which can destroy Gliscor.
Slack-Off is a good move to recover HP when Regenerator cant be used. For example when SlowBro needs to stay in battle and also when the opponent uses moves like Infestation
Latias_BW.gif

Latiass (Latias) @ Leftovers/Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Roost
- Defog
- Steel Wing / Psyshock

Latias is the hazard remover of the team and its good EV spread allows it to overtake other Dragon types because of its high speed. Also a good pokemon to switch in when facing a Ground type pokemon which relies on Earthquake to damage
Dragon Pulse is STAB to take out other Dragon Types
Roost is the obligatory HP recovery move
Defog is the main reason why she's in the team, removing annoying Hazards like Stealth Rock, Spikes and especially Toxic Spikes.
Now, here's the part where im confused. I feel like i really need a Steel type move because i have nothing to deal with Fairy types whenever my Venusaur gets taken out. But the only pokemon that can use Steel Type moves (apart from Hidden Power Steel) are Latias and Gliscor. Latias can only use Steel Wing which is pretty good in itself, but its problematic because the Atk stat of Latias is pretty bad in itself not to mention ive kept it a Timid Nature. Because of this Steel Wing doesnt really do much to help me out. For the time being ive been using Psyshock as a Psychic STAB

pussyd3str0y3r (Shuckle) @ Binding Band/Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
- Toxic
- Infestation
- Shell Smash
- Rest

Shuckle plays the role of the Stalling Tank pokemon. Its good Typing takes out Fire type weakness and extremely high Def and Sp.Def stats can tank even super-effective moves with ease.
Toxic is the obligatory crippling move to take out opponents with ease
Infestation is really important as it not only gives passive damage per turn but also prevents the Pokemon from switching out (switching out turns the Toxic poisoning into Regular poisoning). The Binding Band also makes sure that the opposing pokemon takes extra damage from Infestation
Shell-Smash with Contrary as ability makes Shuckle the staller it is. Raising Def and Sp.Def to 4x makes sure that Shuckle tanks any move the opponent throws at it with little to no effort.
Rest is needed to recover HP and also to deal with Cripplers using Toxic/Will-O-Wisp to take out Shuckle.

AIDS (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Def / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Roost

Gliscor plays the role of the Hazard setter in my team. Its flying type gives immunity to Ground types and its ground type takes away its weakness to Electric, leaving Ice as the main type it needs to watch out for.
Stealth Rock is obligatory Hazard move
Earthquake plays the role of STAB and easily 2HKOs pokemon that do not resist ground type
Knock Off is to deal with Flying types who are immune to Earthquake and also to take out items like for example Leftovers, preventing opponent from recovering HP
Roost is obligatory HP recovery move
Threats : Like i mentioned before, the team does have openings which can be exploited with ease. The main problem ive been facing is Taunt when using Shuckle. Since Infestation is the only damaging move in my set, im basically unable to do anything till the Taunt goes away. Also, Fairy types are pretty hard to deal with because of the absence of a Steel Type move.
Again im pretty new to competitive so it would be really nice if anyone could help me out here in improving this team. And this is my first forum post, so if ive broken any rules or something please tell me.
Thanks in Advance ^^

I am on my phone but,
for a quick thing soul dew is banned in OU so u cant slash it.
and shukle is better with lefties than binding band as passive recovery is needed and that extra binding band damage isn't noticeable

I see. One of my friends suggested that i should use Soul Dew instead of leftovers for Latias thats why i mentioned it in the post. As for Shuckle, I switched from Binding Band to Leftovers.
Anyways, as i mentioned in the post, is there any way for me to fit in a good steel type move?
Thanks again

Hi

So first off this is a pretty nice team but it could use some optimization. On Clefable your move set should consist of Soft-boiled / Moonblast / Thunder Wave / Fire Blast. Utility Clefable offers Speed Control for your team which it would love to have. Although the CM set could have worked the team on a hole would love being able to stop Sweepers while gaining"speed". Next I suggest you run Swords Dance>Stealth Rock on Gliscor. Stealth Rock is really a waste on Gliscor. This Gliscor set works as a Stallbreaker for the team with its deadly Swords Dance set and give you a great WinCon. Lastly you should run Calm Mind over Flamethrower on Slowbro. For this team Slowbro works better as a great WinCon through Calm Mind as it gets many chances to setup through Regenerator.

Finally I believe you should run Heatran over Shuckle. Sticky Webs although how appealing it seems isn't great in the OU Metagame as Bisharp and Serperior can easily exploit it to heavily dent your team. Heatran gives you a great Fairy resist and gives your team Stealth Rocks which you now lack. Thunder Wave with Clefable is also far better speed control than Sticky Webs. As for Latias I believe you should run Mandibuzz instead. You still maintain hazard removal but you team doesn't get dented by the likes of Gengar and Bisharp who currently exploit the holes in your teams composition. It also fits the bill as a bulky defogger better than Latias for Stall teams.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 192 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
- Roar
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume

Mandibuzz @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 108 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Foul Play
- Knock Off
In short
Clefable = Soft-boiled / Thunder Wave / Moonblast / Fire Blast
Slowbro = Calm Mind > Flamethrower
Mandibuzz > Latias
Heatran > Shuckle

Hi KidMagic, thanks for the feedback! I'm still a bit conflicted on whether i should switch Thunderbolt for Thunder wave since i dont really have any good moves to take care of Flying types. Also, Taunt has become a really common move which sort of hinders the Thunder Wave strategy. I will switch Manidbuzz for Latias tho, because it seems like a pretty good idea considering the fact that Latias does get taken down quickly and two psychics puts my team at a disadvantage. However, im concerned about taking damage from Stealth Rock considering that Mandibuzz is weak to Rock type. Ill switch out Flamethrower for Calm mind in Slowbro like you suggested. But taking out Latias does leave me at a sort of stalemate when dealing with Dragon types. Should i switch Hidden Power [Fire] for Hidden Power [Ice] in Venusaur?
And I do know that overall Heatran is a better choice over Shuckle, but the main reason i wanted to make this team was because i wanted to try something different. Also, i know the risk of Sticky Web which is why i didnt include it in my moveset. I really would like the Shuckle to stay but if there's no other option i'll switch out Shuckle for Heatran/something better.
Again thanks a lot for your help, appreciate it.

For the most part Heatran takes care of Flying types such as Talonflame and some Torn-T variants and wears them down. Thunder Wave is excellent on Clefable as it baits so many things in only to get paralyzed. Heatran again takes on Dragon types pretty well the most notable ones being Mega ZardX and the Lati's, while also having Fable puts you at an advantage. So keep Hidden Power Fire as it keeps Steel types from running over MVenu completely. Mandibuzz although weak to Rocks just does it better for your team on a whole because of the massive bulk increase.

If you want to try something different I suggest you try out this Shuckle Set over Heatran.

Shuckle @ Mental Herb / Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Encore
- Toxic
- Infestation

This set takes a more aggressive approach with Shuckle by trapping and locking what comes in to a move through Encore. It sets Rocks as well which is again needed. But again Heatran is the better choice but if you want to use Shuckle...

The sets seems pretty good, ill try them out. I'll use the Mandibuzz too and see if it works well with the team and switch in Calm Mind for Flamethrower
Thanks a lot for your feedback

Hey KidMagic
Well the Mandibuzz idea was pretty good but it kinda failed after a few matches. When i switch him in for clearing out Stealth Rock he loses 1/4th of his HP and by the time he's done using Defog he gets taken out. Thundrus and Weavile also easily Blitz through him.
So, after trying the mandibuzz idea i decided to experiment and made these changes.

Chill Pill (Slowbro) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off

Vampire (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Def / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Roost

Ayy Macarena (Heatran) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 192 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Flash Cannon
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

In Short
Slowbro = Ice Beam>Flamethrower
Gliscor = Defog>Stealth Rock
Heatran>Mandibuzz

Ice Beam gives me an edge over Dragon Types for which i had no counter and also helps me blitz through Thundrus who was pretty problematic to deal with before. I chose it over Calm Mind as ill be switching Slowbro in and out for Regenerator and wont be keeping him long in battle, so its overall a better choice.
As for Gliscor, i've replaced Stealth Rock with Defog but I'm not sure whether i should take out Knock Off for Swords Dance because Knock Off is a pretty useful move in itself.
I took in Heatran as it lets me easily counter Zard X,Talonflame and other annoying Flying types. He can tank the hits while setting up Stealth Rock and his good typing also lets him take out Fairy types, especially Klefki (Steel-Fairy rip)
Please lemme know what you think of it
Thanks ^^

Ok, welcome to smogon!
As KidMagic said you need a win condition, so lets see
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Soft-Boiled
- Calm Mind

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Toxic / Thunder Wave
- Slack Off
Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost
- Defog

Bolt-Beam is great coverage and CM lets it become a great win condition and another status on Slowbro helps with SpA attackers and wears down / brings it into a lower speed for Latias to pick off.
