Shiny Mega-Venusaur Team!

So, I'm back with...another...RMT. Probably the last one for a while. I've been testing this team out a lot, and I find that using Mega Venusaur is a tad difficult. I say this because I want to run Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, Earthquake, and Leech Seed all at once, although that's not possible. My main problem with this team is getting them all to work together.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite - Bold Nature (Thick Fat)
EV Spread: 252 HP / 68 Defense / 188 Sp. Defense
- Synthesis
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain

Mega Venusaur is pretty much the star of my team. Bold nature is to maximize his naturally high defense, and EVs compliment the nature to make it as resilient as possible. Thick Fat removes its weaknesses to Fire and Ice. Synthesis keeps Venusaur healthy, as it's worn down far too quickly since it sacrifices the Leftovers in exchange for its Mega Stone. Sludge Bomb is to take down opposing Grass types minus Ferrothorn, and fairies. Not too good of a STAB, because it's resisted by many types. Leech Seed helps out the whole team, especially if the leeched Pokemon doesn't switch out. Giga Drain is the main STAB attack here, as it does a nice amount of damage and restores a nice amount of HP. I'd love to fit Sleep Powder and Earthquake on this set (and change to a Relaxed nature) but I just can't find room for it.

Heatran @ Leftovers - Calm Nature (Flash Fire)
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Defense / 252 Sp. Defense
- Lava Plume
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

Heatran, from what I have been seeing by using him, is very helpful. Its ability, Flash Fire, prevents it from being hit by any fire-type move. In fact, fire-type moves aimed at Heatran increase the power of Heatran's Lava Plume attack. This ability is especially useful because Venusaur kind-of-maybe attracts fire-type moves, so assuming I predict correctly, Heatran can get a free switch-in, and a boost. Timid Nature increases his speed so Toxic and Lava Plume and Earth Power hit faster. EVs maximize his special presence and his speed. Note that while I cannot change natures on this particular Heatran, I can change EVs and moves. Lava Plume is obvious because it's Heatran's somewhat-main STAB attack, and has a nice 30% burn rate. As for the second moveslot, I chose Toxic over Will-O-Wisp because Rotom already carries the attack and Lava Plume has a 30% burn rate. Protect is to stall Toxic, and Stealth Rock is sorta obvious.

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf - Bold Nature (Levitate)
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Defense / 44 Speed
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

A different take on the classic Rotom-W set. Choice Scarf + Trick works absolutely wonderful, crippling many Pokemon and forcing a switch, allowing me to switch for free. Volt Switch, Hydro Pump, and Will-O-Wisp are staples to Rotom-W, and Trick completes the set and allows the Scarf-trick strategy to be used.

Aegislash @ Leftovers - Quiet Nature (Stance Chance)
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Defense / 252 Sp. Attack
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Pursuit
- King’s Shield

I added Aegislash to my team to deal with the Psychic types that plague my two main attackers - Venusaur and Conkeldurr. Shadow Ball is a powerful attack that will dent opposing psychic-types, Shadow Sneak is for priority and finishing off weakened Pokemon, Pursuit is to hurt and trap Pokemon who switch out, especially Lati@s. And King's Shield is a staple on Aegislash as it allows it to return to its shield forme.

Latias @ Leftovers - Calm Nature (Levitate)
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Defense / 28 Speed
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

Latias is a great team-helper. Draco Meteor helps her break through walls, though it does reduce her special attack stat. Defog clears the rocks, Psyshock takes care of Chan/Blissey, and Healing Wish sacrifices Latias, healing another Pokemon in the process. EVs are to increase its bulk, and Leftovers to restore its HP at the end of each turn.

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest - Adamant Nature (Guts)
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Attack / 48 Sp. Defense / 20 Speed
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off

Very handy Pokemon. Assault Vest and EVs really balance out his defense. Speaking of balance, his moves are as well - priority, STAB, and coverage. Adamant nature is self-explainitory. Maximizes attack. Guts makes conk appreciate status, as its attack is doubled under its effects when it's burned, poisoned, or paralyzed.

So, that's that. Thanks for reading this great wall of text...!

Hey there! Gonna share a few thoughts on your team.

First of all, I don't get why you would run your Heatran with offensive stats, seeing as your moves are quite defensive. The dilemma I see here is that you want to use a defensive Heatran with offensive stats, which, quite frankly, won't just work. Unless you equip Heatran with a Choice item, it won't be all that threatening offensively, and will still be checked by all of its relevant checks. Because Heatran is part of your defensive core, I suggest you run a traditional specially defensive Heatran, and I will give you a set for guidelines. Also, if you run a specially defensive Heatran, a physically defensive M-Venusaur could compliment it well, but it's ultimately your choice. Also, a few things to correct on your description of Heatran. First of all, your Heatran doesn't have Fire Blast, so it seems funny to mention it. The second point is that M-Venu doesn't generally lure in Fire-types, and even if he does, won't generally be troubled by them, unless they are exceptionally powerful, such as Char-Y's Fire Blast in Sun.

move 1: Lava Plume
move 2: Protect
move 3: Roar
move 4: Toxic
ability: Flash Fire
item: Leftovers / Air Balloon
nature: Timid / Calm
evs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD

Even though I think Rapid Spin + SR Excadrill can theoretically work, I just don't think that set is optimal. In order to be a true offensive threat, Exca needs all of his relevant attacing moves (EQ, Iron Head, Rock Slide). Thus, he is left with a choice of either Rapid Spin or Stealth Rock. I would maybe try and replace Heatran's Roar with SR, and try to run Excadrill with 3 attacking moves + Rapid Spin. Furthermore, I'm not too convinced in having 2 Choice Scarf users, even though Rotom-W will most likely Trick his away at some point in the game. I think your team would definitely benefit from having a physically defensive Rotom-W, and I will put down one possible set. It would also work as an additional powerful check to Flying spam. That's all of my thoughts for now, good luck with the team!

move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Pain Split
ability: Levitate
item: Leftovers
nature: Bold
evs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe

P.S Le 100th post.

Thanks for replying! I actually did make some improvements to the team, and I did opt for a defensive Heatran set. I added a bulky Latias set in Excadrill's place, and a bulky-attacker Aegislash in Garchomp's place to deal with the Psychic-types that plague my team. I'd agree that an offensive Rotom-W seems out-of-place on this team, so I'll definitely consider changing its EVs to be a bit more defensive! I'll have the RMT updated later today.

Hey I have one suggestion that would make your team a bit sharper offensively and that would be Keldeo > Conkeldurr. Assault Vest/Guts Conk is pretty nice but almost all players are privy to this strategy. So Conkeldurrs assault vest will likely be knocked off before it can be of any use or opponents will avoid using status moves and conk misses out on that delicious attack boost.

Choice Specs Keldeo is a classic monster he's been destroying teams since gen 5 and now he's back from his short stint in UU to drink more tears. Although he no longer has permamnent rain to back him up, nothing wants to switch into a specs boosted Hydro Pump. He also works very well with garchomp they have good synergy (Keldeo resist ice and Garchomp is weak to ice .. etc) and they can take out (some of) each others checks/counters.

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Flying]

Hidden Power Flying is mainly for Venusaur switch in's as it has a chance to 2HKO the bulky special attacking variant, and it 3HKO's the specially defensive variant. I hope you try him out, good luck and have fun with the team.

Don't run speed on Conkeldurr if you have AV I suggest you use a spread like this: 252 Atk 252 SpD 4 Def trust me maximizing it's special attacks let's it take a lot more hits. Also if you're gonna run a Bold nature on Venusaur I would max out it's physical defense.

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to update the RMT again, right now. When it's done, I'll edit this post!

EDIT: It's updated! I'll see about using Keldeo over conk, by the way.
