Shedinja Mistake!

Team Focus
This team focuses on a very special Pokémon: Shedinja. As all of you know, Shedinja's ability is Wonder Guard, which makes him immune to every attack not Flying, Rock, Ghost, Fire or Dark type. There's a lot of work to be done though, as Sandstorm, Hail, Stealth Rock or Spikes completely ruin Shedinja. All of this team's members work together to keep Shedinja alive the best they can. Especially the first four members provide excellent support, and I doubt if I'll ever replace these. The last two members are more replacable, and I would like to hear your opinion about them. Read on and rate if you like.

On to the Team

dpmfa260.png

Swampert @ Leftovers
Relaxed : Torrent
252 HP, 252 DF, 6 SD
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Swampert leads this team. A quick Stealth Rock is huge, and Swampert pulls it off with great success. Earthquake and Ice Beam provide great coverage and help me counter threats like Tyranitar and Garchomp which are quite common in today's metagame. A key rock resist really backs Shedinja up as well. I've chosen Roar in the last slot, as it helps against Ninjask or anything else that want to set up.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid : Natural Cure
160 HP, 132 SA, 216 SP
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Rapid Spin

Starmie is really an all-star to this team. On top of spinning Stealth Rock and Spikes away, it switches in against threats like Gyarados or Mixape and fends them off with ease.

dpmfa292.png

Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Adamant : Wonder Guard
255 AT, 255 SP
- Shadow Sneak
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance
- Sunny Day

The reason why the others exist. This little bug often has the opponent with his back against the wall, as your everyday team only has about three ways of dealing with Shedinja. When those ways are dealt with, nothing keeps Shedinja from sweeping. Sunny Day helps clear the Sandstorm, and aids Heatran in sweeping as a bonus.

dpmfa485.png

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Modest : Flash Fire
6 HP, 252 SA, 252 SP
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Explosion

This team's proper revenge killer and Ghost / Dark / Flying / Fire resist. He can be a direct threat to any team without a Blissey or a heavy Fire resist. Shedinja sets up Sunny Day to help Heatran's sweep, and ruthlessy destroys all Bulky Waters trying to stop him.

Machamp @ Leftovers
Impish : No Guard
252 HP, 12 AT, 236 DF, 8 SP
- DynamicPunch
- Ice Punch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This guy does so much. He makes a very good Blissey switch in, and absorbs all kinds of status. He also counters two top threats to Shedinja in Tyranitar and Weavile with a very important Dark resist. The chaos DynamicPunch's 100% confusion rate causes totally finishes it.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Calm : Natural Cure
188 HP, 252 HP, 76 SA
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Ice Beam
- Softboiled

My special wall. Greatly helps against Togekiss and Gengar and Salamence. Slows the opponent's team down as well. I'm looking for a different EV spread with more Special defense.

No time now, threat list coming soon.

very sandstorm weak means u lose a poke right off the bat
The whole point of the team is to keep Sandstorm/Hail away.

For this, I'd really suggest putting Sunny Day onto something else, as even if Tyranitar/Hippowdon has been dealt with, Shedinja can only clear the skies by risking its own life, with the only possibility of a switch-in being after one of your team members falls (and that means your Sheddy support crew has a member less now). Leave Sunny Day on Shedinja as a last resort but put it someone else.

Starmie has some problems: you have to pray CB Weavile gets killed first, or it can Pursuit the hell out of your spinner.

Spinner gone --> Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes. I know Machamp is your counter to Weavile, but your team depends so much on keeping these threes away, I would suggest using a second Spinner. Maybe Donphan over Swampert or Hitmontop over Machamp?

But he doesn't really have a spare moveslot on any of his pokemon, but he does need another sunny day user IMO. I think maybe taking Ice Beam off Blissy and giving it sunny day... as thats the only spare moveslot I can see on that team. Other then that its a magnificent piece of work, easily the best way I've seen to get shedinja to sweep.

I have been thinking alot. I indeed need something else with Sunny Day. Please understand though that the main point of Sunny Day is to clear weather, rather than setting up Heatran / someone else.

The only reason I have Blissey is because I have huge Togekiss and Gengar problems (althought Shedinja can deal with Gengar in a pinch), and to slow the opponent's team down.

If I can find something that sets up Sunny Day and has some huge special bulkiness and / or resists, I would be very pleased. Now checking if Zapdos can learn Sunny Day :)

About the Weavile / Tyranitar thing. Yes, I know when Starmie's a goner, Shedinja hasn't got long to live. Choice Band Weavile and Tyranitar are often leads (especially Weavile) and I should be warned by then. I have already made sure that my team has very good ways of countering them (Machamp, Swampert) but there's not so much I can do against Pursuit.

And also, please do not underestimate what Shedinja can do in OU. This is not a joke or gimmicky team, this is purely competitive.

Edit: Zapdos can learn Sunny Day. Still thinking... Advice greatly appreciated!

Why dont use Bronzong with Rain Dance? I used it on my Shedinja team and it worked great. Or tenteacruel perhaps who can also help with Rapid Spin? 2 Rapid Spinners is very usefull for Shedinja and Starmie can easily be defeated.

I still remember Bologo pairing a Shedinja with a defensive Blastoise. It seemed to work out pretty well and went something like this:
Blastoise@Leftovers/Damp Rock
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpAtk(not sure on the EV's)
Bold
-Surf
-Rain Dance
-Rapid Spin
-Yawn
Rain Dance gets rid of the weather effects while Rapid Spin gets rid of the spikes and whatever else might be out there. Yawn is important because it nets you free switches. There are also plenty of Encore users that could really help your team out.

I don't get it.Even though your team is focused on Shedinja, you should at least make it more useful. In this team, it's just a waste of slot. Nah, not worth it.

Ditch Shedinja. It's useless to your team overall. It can't sweep and doesn't support your team against anything.

Seeing as your team is BandHeraweak, regardless of taking out Shedinja or not, you should consider something to either wall it or revenge kill it. I suggest Gliscor or Dugtrio to do the job respectively, as Gliscor completely walls it while Dugtrio traps and OHKOs with Aerial Ace. This allows you to dominate that threat or ease it from your worries. What you choose is your choice preference I guess, seeing as with Gliscor, you can lose a potential 'sweeper'.

You can probably tell that MixApe can take your team apart one by one, Grass Knotting your Swampert and Starmie (KOing with SR/Spikes up), Close Combatting your Blissey and Heatran while Fire Blasting Machamp and Shedinja to smithereens. At this point, Gliscor is still a viable option on your team, but Dugtrio would be more useful than Gliscor (and always more useful than Shedinja will ever be) as it can trap and Earthquake it to death.

As for the Dugtrio set, seeing how you already have Machamp to counter Blissey, I suggest using the Life Orb set for versatility. Only slightly weaker while being unable to 2HKO Blissey, which you wouldn't need.

Go Mild with Heatran so Explosion can do more damage.

Anyway, if you're not ditching Shedinja, you should at leasts till consider the above pokemon as Shedinja doesn't change anything against them.

Jr is tired, so ignore that infernape comment he made.

A big thing I dislike about this team is a simple lategame TTar (which can be used as late game) switchin ruins your all your hard work by killing off the bug. You're also got no way to actually kill the bugger, since the TTar user can just switch out of Machamp and Swampert. This means that Sunny Day would only be a band aid soloution. So I suggest getting a CB Dugtrio in there somewhere. My suggestion is to possibly replace Swampert for it, since Swamp has the least synergy in your team (Bronzong does the whole SR setting up better IMO but that's neither here nor there).

Hope that helped!

188 HP, 252 HP, 76 SA
There's a typo in Blissey's EVs. If you want something more special defensive, the standard spread of 80 HP/252 def/176 sp.def allows you to live through Lucario's Aura Sphere and specs Heatran with Sunny day in affect.

If you're dead set on keeping Shedinja it's advisable to keep another spinner handy since, as mentioned before, Starmie doesn't do to well against pursuit. Forretress over Machamp would counter Tyranitar and Weavile just as well while giving some spikes support. I'm also worried about how Tyranitar and the less common Weavile can just completely scew Shedinja over with Pursuit; Tyranitar more-so since it switch into anything Shedinja has (x-scissor will never ko) and kill it with sandstorm. For that reason I suggest running Baton Pass over Sword dance to scout for Pursuiters as well as Will-O-Wisp over Sunny day to support the team a little. Baton pass is illegal with sword dance btw.
