[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 5 onwards
**Price Range**: 9-10 points
**Overview**: Gallade is an extremely potent physical attacker. With the addition of Sharpness, Gallade now has strong STAB moves in addition to a large number of coverage moves. This allows Gallade to both function as a Wallbreaker or a Setup Sweeper depending on the matchup. This power is only limited by weak Physical bulk combined with a moddling Speed stat.
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Gallade can easily deal lots of damage to slower foes thanks to Sharpness boosting strong STAB moves paired with a naturally high attack stat. Running Choice Scarf can allow Gallade to outspeed unboosted foes and threaten a KO.
**Setup Sweeper**: Using Agility once can allow Gallade to outspeed all except the fastest Pokemon. Swords Dance or Bulk Up can be used to boost its Attack to the point that neutral STAB attacks can KO bulkier Pokemon.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Sacred Sword, Psycho Cut
**Setup Moves**: Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Agility
**Utility Moves**: Will-o-Wisp, Trick, Taunt, Encore, Brick Break, Memento, Thunder Wave, Destiny Bond, Substitute
**Coverage**: Leaf Blade, Aqua Cutter, Night Slash, X-Scissor, Aerial Ace, Knock Off, Ice Punch, Triple Axel, Stone Edge, Thunder Punch, Shadow Sneak, Poison Jab, Fire Punch, Earthquake
Niche Moves
========
**Teleport**: Teleport gives Gallade a pivot move, although a lack of damage and requiring Gallade to take a hit relegate this to a niche option used only if you are confident Gallade will live the turn.
**Reflect & Light Screen**: Having access to both Reflect and Light Screen allows Gallade to bring Light Clay in a support role in part thanks to Sharpness-boosted STAB moves being so threatening even without a damage-boosting item.
Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf allows Gallade to outspeed all but the fastest of foes, as Sharpness still allows Gallade to deal large amounts of damage even without a damage boosting item.
**Damage-boosting Item**: Choice Band allows Gallade to easily KO foes slower than it in one or two hits. Gallade can run Life Orb to boost damage without restricting Gallade to clicking the same move, and Twisted Spoon, Black Belt, or Expert Belt to deal slightly more damage in specific matchups.
Niche Items
========
**Assault Vest**: Gallade's large Special Defense stat can be paired with Assault Vest to allow it to tank Special Attacks. A naturally high attack stat combined with Sharpness and an excellent selection of coverage moves allows Gallade to mitigate the downsides of no status moves nor damage-boosting item.
**Resistance Berries**: Gallade can use a resistance berry to gain a free turn against a poor matchup to setup either an Agility to outspeed other opponents or a Swords Dance to clean up the rest of the opposing team.

Draft Strategy
========
Gallade is a physically frail wallbreaker that can be used to deal large amounts of damage to bulkier foes.
**Entry Hazard Support**: Good entry hazard support can allow Gallade to KO Pokemon that would otherwise threaten it. These hazards can also wear down opposing Ghost-types. In addition, a significant hazard presence can capitalize on any foes bringing Rocky Helmet rather than Heavy-Duty Boots. Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Iron Treads fulfill this role.
**Slow Pivots**: Gallade is not too bulky, and as such would prefer to be pivoted to after the opponent has attacked. Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Alomomola can allow it to get in and apply pressure in different ways, whether it be to setup on the opposing switch-out or deal large amounts of damage.
**Strong Special Attackers**: Having both a strong Physical attacker in Gallade and a strong Special Attacker can pressure the foes meant to counter the other. Preferably this Pokemon should resist Fairy- or Ghost-type attacks, such as
Checks and Counters
========
**Steel-types**: Steel-types are immune to Poison and resist Psychic, greatly forcing Munkidori to use the unreliable Focus Blast to damage them. Pokemon like Corviknight, Jirachi, and Gholdengo are excellent counters.
**Faster Wallbreakers**: Attackers that outspeed Munkidori and can easily KO it mitigate the threat it poses. This includes Meowscarada, Greninja, and Azelf.
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially Defensive Pokemon take little damage from most of Munkidori's attacks, with the exception of Psyshock. In addition, they can run Lum Berry, Covert Cloak, or Rest to mitigate damage from Toxic Chain. Pokemon like Snorlax can also run Immunity to be completely immune to Toxic. Other Pokemon that counter Munkidori in this way include Galarian Slowking and Alolan Muk.
