Shift Gear is the setup move of choice, helping patch up Mega Garchomp's low Speed, and unlike Tidy Up it allows Adamant Mega Garchomp to outspeed Mega Alakazam after a boost. Precipice Blades is an option over Headlong Rush to avoid Burning Bulwark mind games. Bolt Strike and Electro Drift hit numerous targets, notably Celesteela and Fur Coat Yveltal and Mega Slowbro, with Bolt Strike being stronger into Levitate Steel-types while Electro Drift OHKOes Mega Slowbro and Fur Coat Celesteela with Life Orb boost. Alternatively, V-create also hits Celesteela while OHKOing Levitate Steel-types like Arceus-Steel, but has the drawback of reducing Mega Garchomp's Speed and defenses, leaving it more susceptible to revenge killing. Tough Claws should be used with Headlong Rush or Electro Drift, while Sword of Ruin should be used with Precipice Blades. Life Orb offers a crucial damage bonus, letting Mega Garchomp hit benchmarks like OHKOing Ho-Oh and Primal Kyogre unboosted and OHKOing Arceus formes at +1. 132 Defense EVs is an option for Tough Claws sets to ensure that Eviolite Imposter is always OHKOed at +1.

Setup Mega Garchomp has limited longevity considering its reliance on Life Orb, making it more suited to be used as a cleaner when the opposing walls have been conditioned to be able to be broken through. Mega Garchomp can soften up walls for itself in the earlier stages, but support from teammates is necessary due to its lack of sustain. Teammates that can greatly limit Strength Sap healing like Chansey, Blissey, and Magic Bounce users such as Arceus-Poison and Clodsire are almost mandatory to keep physical walls chipped, and in return Mega Garchomp serves as a decent offensive Imposter-proof for the mentioned Pokemon. Entry hazard support from the likes of Arceus-Ghost, Flutter Mane, and RegenVest users also help chip Fur Coat Pokemon in range. RegenVest users can also provide Knock Off and Nuzzle support, the latter is particularly useful to neutralize Imposter users and provide potential setup opportunities. Mega Garchomp can be Imposter-proofed by most Fur Coat users that are not weak to its moves and carrying Strength Sap or Topsy-Turvy, such as Arceus-Fairy, Zamazenta, Yveltal, and if it is not running an Electric-type move, Water-types like Mega Slowbro and Dondozo.

Precipice Blades is an option over Headlong Rush to avoid Burning Bulwark mind games. Could also mention that it avoids rocky helmet and / or beak blast, tho ig beak blast is really only ever ran on steela so probably not Bolt Strike and Electro Drift hit numerous targets, notably Celesteela and Fur Coat Yveltal and Mega Slowbro, with Bolt Strike being stronger into Levitate Steel-types while Electro Drift OHKOes Mega Slowbro and Fur Coat Celesteela. Feel like you should specify that this is in tandem with lo Alternatively, V-create also hits Celesteela while OHKOing Levitate Steel-types like Arceus-Steel, but has the drawback of reducing Mega Garchomp's Speed and defenses, leaving it more susceptible to revenge killing. Would take away lu and add ghostceus (if there's taboo for two arceus formes, then like yveltal? just anything that isn't lu since fc lu is kinda bad rn), and specify that bro / dozo work if chomper is running v-create instead of the electric moves. Also, could add that they would need some kind of setup cope if imp starts clicking shift gear (or just that your improofers should be sap since that always improofs sg)
