[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 15-17 points

**Overview**: While Serperior looks underwhelming with its mediocre stats, it is quite threatening due to Contrary Leaf Storm and strong utility moves. Tera provides Serperior with coverage options it desparately needs, chiefly Ground and Fire. Tera Stellar allows Serperior to boost its Special Attack with Contrary, providing another option when looking to sweep. Serperior's excellent Speed makes it one of the deadliest cleaners and Tera Captains available in Draft. Serperior can take a while to gain the sufficient Contrary boosts it needs to win a battle, making it important that it is positioned well and supported by its teammates for the snake to truly excel.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Contrary Sweeper**: Serperior can make a frightening sweeper in the later stages of battle. A single Leaf Storm can be all it takes to put it in range of sweeping. If boosted high enough, even Grass-resistant Pokemon might soon find themselves overwhelmed by it. Choice Scarf allows Serperior to outrun all unboosted and most Speed-boosted Pokemon, making it very difficult to answer.

**Substitute Attacker**: Serperior can take advantage of its switch-ins with Substitute, allowing it to freely use Glare on threatening opponents or Leech Seed on passive walls. This set allows Serperior to have a frightening amount of staying power while also finding windows to set up on a full paralysis turn.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Leaf Storm, Giga Drain

**Setup moves**: 130-Base Power Nasty Plot (Leaf Storm)

**Utility moves**: Substitute, Glare, Leech Seed, Taunt, Synthesis, Knock Off

**Coverage**: Tera Blast, Dragon Pulse

Niche Moves
========
**Dragon Tail**: Dragon Tail can be used to hit Serperior's checks as they switch in, ideally with entry hazards up so that they can be chipped down for later.

**Dual Screens**: Reflect and Light Screen are useful options on teams looking to take advantage of a utility set to provide a sweeper, or even itself, valuable turns to set up.

**Endure**: Endure can be paired with a Custap Berry to surprise faster revenge killers like Greninja, Iron Valiant, and Darkrai. It can also be used alongside Leech Seed to stall out additional turns of passive damage.

**Wrap**: Wrap allows Serperior to trap a passive opponent, allowing it the turns it might need to set up with Leaf Storm or Stellar Tera Blast.

Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf is a great item on Contrary Sweeper sets, allowing it to blaze past most of the metagame while also setting up with Contrary Leaf Storm.

**Leftovers**: Leftovers is commonly used on utility sets for passive recovery. Reasonable defenses, Substitute, and Leech Seed combine well with Leftovers to give it a surprising amount of staying power.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots is a great item in battles against hazard stack teams.

Niche Items
========
**Life Orb / Miracle Seed / Choice Specs**: Damage-boosting items are great on sweeper sets that don't need a Choice Scarf to outspeed threats, potentially allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO Pokemon it otherwise couldn't.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash allows Serperior to function as an anti-lead against opponents it is faster than, virtually guaranteeing two uses of Leaf Storm. It is also useful in conjunction with Mirror Coat as a surprise check to a specially offensive threat such as Iron Valiant or Greninja.

**Light Clay**: If Serperior is using dual screens, Light Clay is useful for extending the duration of them, allowing teammates more time and opportunities to set up.

**Lum Berry**: Status is one of the most threatening things for a Serperior to face. Lum Berry can help it flip the tables, letting Serperior lure in would-be threats and ensuring safety from danger.

**Resistance Berries**: Using a resistance Berry is useful for Serperior luring opposing threats and taking a hit an opponent isn't expecting.

Tera
========

Serperior is simultaneously one of the best Tera Captains and one of the most Tera-reliant Pokemon on the board and is thus priced with the assumption that it will be your Tera Captain. Tera Stellar is one of the best options for Serperior, making Tera Blast a neutral coverage option for types Serperior struggles to hit effectively while also raising its offensive stats by one stage each. Tera Fire and Tera Ground provide Serperior with coverage for the Grass- and Fire-type Pokemon it has difficulty in dealing with, respectively. As one of the greatest Leaf Storm users ever seen, Tera Grass helps it pack even more punch and reach sweeping range faster. On defensive sets, Tera Water provides a great defensive typing while also enabling it to fight the Fire-type Pokemon likely to switch in on it.

Draft Strategy
========
Serperior should be built around with the intention of being utilized as a late-game sweeper as your primary Tera Captain. Serperior is limited and requires heavy support from its teammates to break through checks. The speedy serpent is also not particularly bulky and enjoys having help from teammates in getting into battle safely.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Serperior has woeful offensive stats and requires at least one turn of setup before becoming a threatening cleaner, so wallbreakers are important in removing obstacles that might stop a sweep in its tracks. Physical wallbreakers like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Garchomp that don't rely on Tera are excellent partners for the Tera-hungry Serperior.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior greatly enjoys entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Skarmory, as they can help in weakening opposing Pokemon into range of Serperior's Leaf Storm.

**Slow Pivots**: Pivot support from Pokemon like Corviknight, Galarian Slowking, and Zapdos can allow the frail Serperior to come in numerous times over the course of a battle without sacrificing health.

**Elite Speed**: In spite of being fast already, Serperior enjoys having teammates faster than it such as Greninja, Cinderace, and Roaring Moon, as this alleviates the necessity to run Choice Scarf against faster opposing drafts, opening up more room for set diversity.

**Grounded Poison-types**: A grounded Poison-type can be very valuable for a Serperior to have, as it does not enjoy running Heavy-Duty Boots and dislikes Toxic Spikes. Toxic poison ruins Serperior's usefulness on its Substitute sets, greatly damaging its sustainability. Glarian Slowking, Clodsire, and Pecharunt are all good teammates.

Checks and Counters
========
**Grass-resistant Foes**: Serperior's lack of coverage options leaves it with few options to hit Grass-reesistant foes. Terastallisation is highly important in providing Serperior with a tool to help circumvent this while also removing its original weaknesses. Serperior can typically break through frail foes on its own, but needs support in handling bulkier ones.

**Special Walls**: Pokemon with high special bulk or that can raise their Special Defense are exceedingly difficult for Serperior to remove. Serperior only has eight PP for Leaf Storm and needs to make sure they count. Special walls can switch in, shrug off the hit while simultaneously forcing Serperior out, and recover the damage. This can leave Serperior unable to perform its role as a late-game cleaner, as it might literally run out of attacks it can use against Pokemon like Zapdos, Deoxys-D, and Clefable.

**Pressure**: Pokemon like Corviknight, and Deoxys-D can be challenging for Serperior to navigate, doubling the PP cost required to use its limited Leaf Storms.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior does not typically want to hold Heavy-Duty Boots as an item but sometimes has to out of necessity. Strong hazard control like Great Tusk, Iron Treads, and Quaquaval make for excellent partners, removing the requirement to run Heavy-Duty Boots. Toxic Spikes can be particularly challenging for Serperior to manage as it puts Serperior on a timer, unable to leverage its high sustainability to win a battle.

**Status Condition**: Toxic and paralysis are two of the most intimidating things for a Serperior to face, as in the right conditions they can prevent a sweep. Speed is, quite literally, Serperior's only good stat and having that cut in half by paralysis can completely shut down its viability as a late-game cleaner. Toxic is also heavily hazardous for Serperior to face, as Serperior has no immediate power and needs extra turns to get going with Contrary boosts before becoming threatening.

[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 17 15-17 points

**Overview**: At a first glance Serperior might appear to be underwhelming. It has middling offensive stats, next to no coverage options, modest utility, and a lack of dual typing making it so that what moves it can use don't hit very hard. However, hidden beneath that is an incredible ability in Contrary. Contrary pairs well with the Stellar-type, propelling Serperior to greater heights than ever seen before. Serperior's excellent Speed stat makes it one of the deadliest cleaners and Tera Captains available in Draft. Serperior can take a while to gain the sufficient Contrary boosts it needs to win a battle and it lacks highly in utility, and coverage, making it important that it is positioned well and supported by its teammates for Serperior to truly excel.
Stellar is viable on Serp but probably isn’t even in the top 3 best types for it. Tera’s so good to power up its spammable Leaf Storms, or finally give it the Fire/Ground coverage it desperately wants. You can mention Stellar Tera Blast, but focus on the coverage that Tera gives.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Contrary Sweeper**: Serperior can make a frightening sweeper in the later stages of battle, after a single Leaf Storm it can be frighteningly hard to wall, even Pokemon with type-resistances to Grass can find themselves overwhelmed by it. Choice Scarf allows Serperior to outrun all unboosted most Speed-boosted Pokemon, leaving it very difficult to answer.
A few typos/grammar errors in here, but the info is good. Just give it another revision.

**Substitute Attacker**: Serperior can take advantage of its switch-ins with Substitute, allowing it to freely use Glare on threatening opponents, or Leech Seed, to punish passive Pokemon. This set allows Serperior to have a frightening amount of staying power, while also finding windows to set up with Leaf Storm.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Leaf Storm could maybe add Giga Drain

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind

**Utility moves**: Substitute, Glare, Leech Seed, Taunt, Synthesis, Knock Off

**Coverage**: Tera Blast, Dragon Pulse

Niche Moves
========
**Dragon Tail**: Dragon Tail can be utilised on bulkier teams with lots of Entry Hazards to phase opponents and rack up chip damage.
Rewrite this to say you can use Dragon Tail to hit Grass-resists on the switch in, ideally with entry hazards up so you can wear them down for later. It can also be used to prevent a foe from setting up on Serperior, as Grass-resists don’t fear it that much.

**Dual Screens**: Reflect and Light Screen are useful options on teams looking to take advantage of a utility set to enable a sweeper, or perhaps, itself, valuable turns to set up.

**Endure**: Endure can be paired with a Salac Berry on Overgrow sets to raise its Speed and capitalise on the boosted Grass-type attacks. It can also be used alongside Leech Seed to stall out additional turns of passive damage.
I don’t think Endure + Salac is ever worth using. Endure + Custap Berry on Contrary sets could be worth mentioning though.

**Gastro Acid**: Gastro Acid is only ever used with a predetermined plan on nullifying the ability of one or two specific Pokemon in your opponent's draft.
I am doubtful of Gastro Acid's usefulness. I can only think of using this for Sap Sipper Azumarill, which seems way too niche since Serperior can just Tera to hit it instead.

**Wrap**: Wrap is a valuable move allowing Serperior to trap a passive opponent, allowing it the turns it might need to set up with Leaf Storm or Stellar Tera Blast.

Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf is a highly important item on Contrary Sweeper sets, allowing it to blaze past most of the metagame while also setting up Contrary boosts.

**Leftovers**: Leftovers are commonly seen on Substitute Attacker sets allowing Serperior the passive recovery required, when paired with Leech Seed, to set up an incredibly large amount of Substitutes, while fishing for Paralysis with Glare.
Info is fine, but the sentence structure needs some work.

**Resistance Berries**: Using a Resistance Berry is useful for luring opposing threats and taking a hit an opponent isn't expecting.
Move this to niche items

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots is a great item in battles where a large amount of opposing Entry Hazards are likely.

Niche Items
========
**Damage Boosting Items**: Damage Boosting Items are great on Sweeper sets that don't need a Choice Scarf to outspeed threats, potentially allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO Pokemon it otherwise couldn't.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash can be utilised with Overgrow to allow Serperior to fire off an incredibly powerful Leaf Storm. It is also useful when used in conjunction with Mirror Coat as a surprise check to a Special threat such as Iron Valiant or Greninja.
I think you can mention Focus Sash as an anti-lead tech since it will be guaranteed able to use Leaf Storm twice if it’s faster than the opponent. Overgrow isn’t worth mentioning.

**Salac Berry**: Clever use of Substitute can be used to bring Serperior in range of Salac Berry specifically on Overgrow sets, enabling it to surprise an opponent and outspeed Pokemon seeking to revenge it.

**Light Clay**: If Serperior is using Dual Screens, Light Clay is useful for extending the duration of them, allowing teammates more time and opportunities to set up.

Could maybe add Lum Berry and Custap Berry here. Not forcing either addition.

Tera
========
Serperior is one of the best Tera Captains in the tier format and is priced accordingly, as such, it should always be drafted with the intention of being a Tera Captain. Stellar-type is one of the best options for Serperior, making Tera Blast a Neutral coverage option for types Serperior might struggle to hit effectively, while also raising its offensive stats by one stage each. Tera Fire and Tera Ground provide Serperior with coverage for the Grass-type and Fire-type Pokemon it has difficulty in dealing with respectively. On defensive sets, Tera Water provides a great defensive typing while also enabling it to fight the Fire-type Pokemon likely to switch in on it.

Draft Strategy
========
Serperior should be built around with the intention of being utilised as a late game sweeper as your primary Tera Captain.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Serperior has woeful offensive stats and requires at least one turn of set up before becoming a threatening cleaner, so wallbreakers are highly important in removing obstacles that might stop a sweep in its tracks. Physical wallbreakers like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Garchomp don't rely on Tera and are therefore excellent partners for the Tera hungry Serperior.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior greatly enjoys entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Skarmory as they can help in weakening opposing Pokemon, helping to bring them in range of being OHKOed by Serperior.

**Slow Pivots**: Pivot support from Pokemon like Corviknight, Galarian Slowking, and Zapdos can allow the frail Serperior to come in numerous times over the course of a battle, without sacrificing health.

**Elite Speed**: In spite of being fast already, Serperior enjoys having teammates faster than it such as Greninja, Cinderace, and Roaring Moon, as this alleviates the necessity to run Choice Scarf against faster opposing drafts, opening up more room for set diversity.

Could mention a grounded Poison, since Serp is pretty TSpikes weak.

Checks and Counters
========
**Fire and Grass-type Pokemon**: Serperior's lack of a dual-typing, and coverage options leave it with few options in removing Fire and Grass-type Pokemon. Terastalisation is highly important in providing Serperior with a tool to help circumvent this, while also removing the weaknesses it would have originally.
Could generalize this to “Grass resists.” Add that Serperior can break through frail Grass resists on its own, but struggles with bulkier ones.

**Special Walls**: Pokemon with high Special bulk or those that can raise their Special Defences are exceedingly difficult for Serperior to remove. It is important for teams to play aggressively and double switch into checks to help wear down these Pokemon. Entry hazard support can make it significantly harder for them to consistently switch in. Knock Off can be used to remove Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from passive walls. Blissey is particularly problematic for Serperior as it has enormous bulk, access to healing, and the ability Natural Cure healing it from Glare every time it switches out.
Serperior can easily beat Blissey with Taunt + Leech Seed, so just get rid of that sentence.
This paragraph probably needs to be rewritten entirely cause it feels a little general right now, but you should mention how specially bulky Pokemon wear down Leaf Storm’s low PP. If Serperior is wasting Leaf Storms into specially bulky Pokemon that can shrug off the hit, force Serp out, and then recover the damage, then Serp’s effectiveness as a lategame cleaner is dubious since it might literally run out of attacks.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior does not typically want to hold Heavy-Duty Boots as an item but sometimes has to out of necessity. Strong Hazard Control like Great Tusk, Iron Treads, and Quaquaval all make for excellent partners, removing the requirement to run Heavy-Duty Boots.
Should mention Toxic Spikes being a problem for it

**Status Condition**: Toxic and Paralysis are two of the most intimidating things for a Serperior to face, as in the right conditions they can prevent a sweep. Lum Berry allows a one time check to this and can also be used to lure in Pokemon like Gholdengo, Glimmora, and Rotom-Heat, looking to disrupt Serperior's wincon.
Right idea, clunky phrasing. Emphasize how Speed is Serperior’s only good stat and paralysis cuts into its effectiveness a lot. Toxic ruins its SubSeed sets, but also being put on a timer in general is bad for Serp since it has no immediate power and needs extra turns to get going with Contrary boosts.

General comment: I feel like Glare isn’t talked about enough in this analysis cause it’s a big part of why Serperior is good, but I couldn’t find an obvious place to talk more about it. Might not be an issue, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

QC 1/2

[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 15-17 points

**Overview**: At a first glance Serperior might appear to be underwhelming. It has middling offensive stats, next to no coverage options, modest utility, and a lack of dual typing making it so that what moves it can use don't hit very hard. However, hidden beneath that is an incredible ability in Contrary. A supremely fast Glare can also be used to shut down opposing set up sweepers before they even have the chance to get going. These sentences can be combined to get the point across quicker - "While Serperior looks underwhelming at first with its mediocre stats, it can be quite threatening with its Contrary ability and strong utility options." Access to Tera provides Serperior with access to Ground and Fire-type moves, coverage it desperately needs. Tera Stellar allows Serperior to boost its stats with Contrary, providing another option when looking to sweep. Serperior's excellent Speed stat makes it one of the deadliest cleaners and Tera Captains available in Draft. Serperior can take a while to gain the sufficient Contrary boosts it needs to win a battle making it important that it is positioned well and supported by its teammates for the snake to truly excel.

If boosted high enough, Grass-resistant Pokemon might soon find themselves overwhelmed by it. Choice Scarf allows Serperior to outrun all unboosted and most Speed-boosted Pokemon, leaving it very difficult to answer. Could mention that Tera Blast is another option for contrary sweeping on stellar sets, or list it as a separate set

**Substitute Attacker**: Serperior can take advantage of its switch-ins with Substitute, allowing it to freely use Glare on threatening opponents, or Leech Seed, to punish passive Pokemon. This set allows Serperior to have a frightening amount of staying power, while also finding windows to set up off the back of Paralysis chance.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Leaf Storm, Giga Drain

**Setup moves**: Calm Mind I wouldn't list calm mind, nobody is ever using it

**Utility moves**: Substitute, Glare, Leech Seed, Taunt, Synthesis, Knock Off

**Coverage**: Tera Blast, Dragon Pulse

Niche Moves
========
**Dragon Tail**: Dragon Tail can be used to hit Grass-resists and incoming checks on the switch in, ideally with entry hazards up so that they can be chipped down for later.

**Dual Screens**: Reflect and Light Screen are useful options on teams looking to take advantage of a utility set to enable a sweeper, or perhaps, itself, valuable turns to set up.

**Endure**: Endure can be paired with a Custap Berry capitalise on the boosted Grass-type attacks. It can also be used alongside Leech Seed to stall out additional turns of passive damage.

**Wrap**: Wrap is a valuable move allowing Serperior to trap a passive opponent, allowing it the turns it might need to set up with Leaf Storm or Stellar Tera Blast.

Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf is a highly important item on Contrary Sweeper sets, allowing it to blaze past most of the metagame while also setting up Contrary boosts.

**Leftovers**: Leftovers are commonly used as Serperior values the passive recovery. Reasonable defences, Substitute, and Leech Seed combine well with Leftovers to give it a surprisingly large amount of staying power.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots is a great item in battles where a large amount of opposing Entry Hazards are likely.

Niche Items
========
**Damage Boosting Items**: Would be better to list them, like **Life Orb/Miracle Seed/Choice Specs** or whatever you had in mind Damage Boosting Items are great on Sweeper sets that don't need a Choice Scarf to outspeed threats, potentially allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO Pokemon it otherwise couldn't.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash allows Serperior to function as an anti-lead against opponents it is faster than, guaranteeing two uses of Leaf Storm. It is also useful when used in conjunction with Mirror Coat as a surprise check to a Special threat such as Iron Valiant or Greninja.

**Light Clay**: If Serperior is using Dual Screens, Light Clay is useful for extending the duration of them, allowing teammates more time and opportunities to set up.

**Lum Berry**: Status is one of the most threatening things for a Serperior to face. Lum Berry can help it flip the tables, luring in would-be threats and ensuring safety from danger.

**Resistance Berries**: Using a Resistance Berry is useful for luring opposing threats and taking a hit an opponent isn't expecting.

Tera
========
Serperior is one of the best Tera Captains in the format and is priced accordingly, as such, it should always be drafted with the intention of being a Tera Captain.

========
Serperior should be built around with the intention of being utilised as a late game sweeper as your primary Tera Captain. Expand on this if possible, another sentence or 2 is fine, can talk about its weaknesses that need to be patched up by teammates

**Grounded Poison**: A grounded Poison-type can be very valuable for a Serperior to have, as it does not enjoy running Heavy-Duty Boots. A grounded Poison can help to control opposing Toxic Spikes which Serperior is very weak to. Toxic poison ruins Serperior's usefulness on its Substitute sets, greatly damaging its sustainability. Glarian Slowking, Clodsire, and Pecharunt, are all examples of this.

Checks and Counters
========
**Grass Resistances**: Serperior's lack of a dual-typing, and coverage options leave it with few options in removing Grass resistances. Terastalisation is highly important in providing Serperior with a tool to help circumvent this, while also removing the weaknesses it would have originally. Serperior can typically break through frail Grass resistances on its own, but needs support in handling bulkier ones.
Could generalize this to “Grass resists.” Add that Serperior can break through frail Grass resists on its own, but struggles with bulkier ones. Leftover notes from scribble's qc

**Special Walls**: Pokemon with high Special bulk or those that can raise their Special Defences are exceedingly difficult for Serperior to remove. Serperior only has 8 uses of Leaf Storm and needs to make sure they count. Kinda makes me think maybe pressure is worth mentioning somewhere too, either in here or separately Special walls can switch in, shrug off the hit while simultaneously forcing Serperior out and recover the damage. This can leave Serperior unable to perform its role as a late-game cleaner as it might literally run out of attacks it can use against Pokemon like Zapdos, Deoxys-Defence, and Clefable. Knock Off can be used to remove Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from passive walls as they switch in. Substitute Attacker sets are useful for managing these difficulties as Serperior can utilise Taunt and Leech Seed to sustain itself while removing utility from the opposing wall. Already discussed in common roles

Speed is, quite literally, Serperiors only good stat and having that cut in half by Paralysis can completely shut down its viability as a late-game cleaner. Toxic is also heavily hazardous for Serperior to face as Serperior has no immediate power and needs extra turns to get going with Contrary boosts before becoming threatening.

Tera
========

Serperior is simultaneously one of the best Tera captains Captains and one of the most Tera reliant Pokémon Tera-reliant Pokemon on the board and is thus priced accordingly with the assumption that it will be your Tera captain Captain. Stellar-type Tera Stellar is one of the best options for Serperior, making Tera Blast a Neutral neutral coverage option for types Serperior might struggle struggles to hit effectively, (rc) while also raising its offensive stats by one stage each. Tera Fire and Tera Ground provide Serperior with coverage for the Grass-type and Fire-type Grass- and Fire-type Pokemon it has difficulty in dealing with, (ac) respectively. As one of the greatest Leaf Storm button clickers users ever seen, Tera Grass helps it pack even more punch helping to and reach sweeping range faster. On defensive sets, Tera Water provides a great defensive typing while also enabling it to fight the Fire-type Pokemon likely to switch in on it.

Draft Strategy
========
Serperior should be built around with the intention of being utilised utilized as a late-game (ah) sweeper as your primary Tera Captain. Serperior is limited and requires heavy support from its teammates to break through checks. The speedy serpent is also not particularly bulky and enjoys having help from teammates in getting into battle safely.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Serperior has woeful offensive stats and requires at least one turn of set up setup before becoming a threatening cleaner, so wallbreakers are highly important in removing obstacles that might stop a sweep in its tracks. Physical wallbreakers like Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, and Garchomp that don't rely on Tera and are therefore excellent partners for the Tera-hungry (ah) Serperior.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior greatly enjoys entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Skarmory, (ac) as they can help in weakening opposing Pokemon, helping to bring them in range of being OHKOed by Serperior into range of Serperior's Leaf Storm.

**Slow Pivots**: Pivot support from Pokemon like Corviknight, Galarian Slowking, and Zapdos can allow the frail Serperior to come in numerous times over the course of a battle, (rc) without sacrificing health.

**Elite Speed**: In spite of being fast already, Serperior enjoys having teammates faster than it such as Greninja, Cinderace, and Roaring Moon, as this alleviates the necessity to run Choice Scarf against faster opposing drafts, opening up more room for set diversity.

**Grounded Poison-types**: A grounded Poison-type can be very valuable for a Serperior to have, as it does not enjoy running Heavy-Duty Boots. A grounded Poison can help to control opposing Toxic Spikes which Serperior is very weak to and dislikes Toxic Spikes. Toxic poison ruins Serperior's usefulness on its Substitute sets, greatly damaging its sustainability. Glarian Slowking, Clodsire, and Pecharunt, (rc) are all examples of this good teammates.

Checks and Counters
========
**Grass Resistances Grass-resistant Foes**: Serperior's lack of coverage options leave it with few options in removing Grass resistances leaves it with few options to hit Grass-reesistant foes. Terastallisation two Ls, remember Smogon loves staff is highly important in providing Serperior with a tool to help circumvent this, (rc) while also removing the weaknesses it would have originally its original weaknesses. Serperior can typically break through frail Grass resistances foes on its own, but needs support in handling bulkier ones.

**Special Walls**: Pokemon with high Special bulk or those that can raise their Special Defences special bulk or that can raise their Special Defense are exceedingly difficult for Serperior to remove. Serperior only has 8 uses of eight PP for Leaf Storm and needs to make sure they count. Special walls can switch in, shrug off the hit while simultaneously forcing Serperior out, (ac) and recover the damage. This can leave Serperior unable to perform its role as a late-game cleaner, (ac) as it might literally run out of attacks it can use against Pokemon like Zapdos, Deoxys-Defence, and Clefable.

**Pressure**: Pokemon like Corviknight, and Deoxys-Defence can be challenging for Serperior to navigate, doubling the PP cost required to use its limited Leaf Storms.

**Entry Hazards**: Serperior does not typically want to hold Heavy-Duty Boots as an item but sometimes has to out of necessity. Strong Hazard Control hazard control like Great Tusk, Iron Treads, and Quaquaval all make for excellent partners, removing the requirement to run Heavy-Duty Boots. Toxic Spikes can be particularly challenging for Serperior to manage as it puts Serperior on a timer, unable to leverage its high sustainability to win a battle.

**Status Condition**: Toxic and Paralysis paralysis are two of the most intimidating things for a Serperior to face, as in the right conditions they can prevent a sweep. Speed is, quite literally, Serperior's (aa) only good stat and having that cut in half by Paralysis paralysis can completely shut down its viability as a late-game cleaner. Toxic is also heavily hazardous for Serperior to face, (ac) as Serperior has no immediate power and needs extra turns to get going with Contrary boosts before becoming threatening.

[overview]
**Draft order**: Round 2 onwards

**Price range**: 15-17 points

**Overview**: While Serperior looks underwhelming at first with its mediocre stats, it can be quite threatening with its Contrary ability and strong utility options it is quite threatening due to Contrary Leaf Storm and strong utility moves. Access to Tera provides Serperior with access to Ground and Fire-type moves, coverage it desperately needs coverage options it desparately needs, chiefly Ground and Fire. Tera Stellar allows Serperior to boost its stats Special Attack with Contrary, providing another option when looking to sweep. Serperior's excellent Speed stat makes it one of the deadliest cleaners and Tera Captains available in Draft. Serperior can take a while to gain the sufficient Contrary boosts it needs to win a battle, (ac) making it important that it is positioned well and supported by its teammates for the snake to truly excel.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Contrary Sweeper**: Serperior can make a frightening sweeper in the later stages of battle. A single Leaf Storm can be all it takes to put it in range of sweeping. If boosted high enough, even Grass-resistant Pokemon might soon find themselves overwhelmed by it. Choice Scarf allows Serperior to outrun all unboosted and most Speed-boosted Pokemon, leaving making it very difficult to answer.

**Substitute Attacker**: Serperior can take advantage of its switch-ins with Substitute, allowing it to freely use Glare on threatening opponents, or Leech Seed, to punish passive Pokemon or Leech Seed on passive walls. This set allows Serperior to have a frightening amount of staying power, (rc) while also finding windows to set up off the back of Paralysis chance on a full paralysis turn.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Leaf Storm, Giga Drain

**Setup moves**: Bye bye! 130-Base Power Nasty Plot (Leaf Storm)

**Utility moves**: Substitute, Glare, Leech Seed, Taunt, Synthesis, Knock Off

**Coverage**: Tera Blast, Dragon Pulse

Niche Moves
========
**Dragon Tail**: Dragon Tail can be used to hit Grass-resists and incoming checks on the switch in Serperior's checks as they switch in, ideally with entry hazards up so that they can be chipped down for later.

**Dual Screens**: Reflect and Light Screen are useful options on teams looking to take advantage of a utility set to enable provide a sweeper, or perhaps, even itself, valuable turns to set up.

**Endure**: Endure can be paired with a Custap Berry to surprise faster revenge killers like Greninja, Iron Valiant, and Darkrai. It can also be used alongside Leech Seed to stall out additional turns of passive damage.

**Wrap**: Wrap is a valuable move allowing allows Serperior to trap a passive opponent, allowing it the turns it might need to set up with Leaf Storm or Stellar Tera Blast.

Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf is a highly important great item on Contrary Sweeper sets, allowing it to blaze past most of the metagame while also setting up Contrary boosts with Contrary Leaf Storm.

**Leftovers**: Leftovers are is yes, "Leftovers" is singular commonly used as Serperior values the passive recovery on utility sets for passive recovery. Reasonable defences defenses stop being british, Substitute, and Leech Seed combine well with Leftovers to give it a surprisingly large surprising amount of staying power.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots is a great item in battles where a large amount of opposing Entry Hazards are likely against hazard stack teams.

Niche Items
========
**Life Orb / Miracle Seed / Choice Specs**: add spaces around the slashes Damage Boosting Items are great on Sweeper Damage-boosting items are great on sweeper sets that don't need a Choice Scarf to outspeed threats, potentially allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO Pokemon it otherwise couldn't.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash allows Serperior to function as an anti-lead against opponents it is faster than, virtually guaranteeing two uses of Leaf Storm. It is also useful when used in conjunction with Mirror Coat as a surprise check to a Special specially offensive threat such as Iron Valiant or Greninja.

**Light Clay**: If Serperior is using Dual Screens dual screens, Light Clay is useful for extending the duration of them, allowing teammates more time and opportunities to set up.

**Lum Berry**: Status is one of the most threatening things for a Serperior to face. Lum Berry can help it flip the tables, luring letting Serperior lure in would-be threats and ensuring safety from danger.

**Resistance Berries**: Using a Resistance resistance Berry is useful for Serperior luring opposing threats and taking a hit an opponent isn't expecting.

Tera
========
