MAH BOY MC SAPÃO IS HERE

evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

With the recent Dexit cut, there are very few viable defensive Ground-types in the metagame. Gladly, Seismitoad is one of them. With a good typing, an ability that provides either a immunity and a form of recovery and a great support moverpool, Seismitoad can differ itself even from its brother in typing, Gastrodon, with the access to Stealth Rock and Toxic. Talking about these two moves are self explanatory: While Stealth Rock provides support to the team chipping damage upon every switch-in made by the opponent, Toxic, a move with very scarce distribution this gen, puts opposing Pokemon on a timer, potencialy neutralizing walls and setup sweepers like Jellicent and Gyarados, respectively. Scald also provides support with the respectable chance of burning fools, cutting their Attack stat by half and helping Seismitoad to deal with them easier, such as Galarian Darmanintan. Earthquake aims mainly to hit Electric- and Steel-types, such as Toxitricity and Excadrill, with the added benefit to hit Tyranitar in its weakiest defensive stat, factoring sandstorm. The EVs used in this set makes Seismitoad to be physically bulk as possible, while the Relaxed nature is used to mantain both Scald and Earthquake's power untouched. Leftovers provides passive recovery, in conjuction with Water Absorb, that not only makes the frog immute no Water-type attacks, but also heals 25% of its HP every time it is hit by one of these moves.

This set tends to fit on defensive teams, being a great hazard setter and a complete shutdown to Rotom-W and Rotom-H, only really fearing Will-o-Wisp. Seismitoad's partners can also appreciate the ability that it has to check Dragovish, since its most powerful move in Fishous Rend only heals Seismitoad. However, since Seismitoad only heals itself by Leftovers and its ability in Water Absorb, Wish support from the likes of Clefable can be beneficial, allowing it to keep checking threats. Defoggers like Mandibuzz and Corviknight also fits well with it, since Seismitoad needs to be healthy as possible to keep switching into moves it would take, and hazards, specially Toxic Spikes and Spikes, can deter this function. Toxapex and Ferrothorn can also form a hazard stack core with it, with the former being capable of removing Toxic Spikes from the field upon switching.

[SET COMMENTS]

With a good offensive typing, a valuable Electric immunity and access to Stealth Rock, Seismitoad carves its niche as a powerful Swift Swim abuser. Since its focus is to hit hard as possible, Hydro Pump is the Water-STAB move of choice, 2HKOing even against targets that resist it, such as Hydreigon and Dragapult, with the former needing prior minimum chip damage. Earth Power is a good Ground-type STAB that allows Seismitoad to win the 1v1 against Toxapex, as without it, Seismitoad can barely do anything against Toxapex. Focus Blast transforms Ferrothorn in a not-so-safe switch-in, as it can be 2HKOed by it, while also being a way to hit defensive Rotom-W without rain-boosted Hydro Pumps. Stealth Rock is self explanatory, alliviating the pressure that rain teams have to setup it and opening the possibility to Ferrothorn, one of its most common teammate, to use Spikes. Life Orb is the item of choice, as it boost Seismitoad's power while giving it the freedom to switch between its moves, depending on the need. Modest is used since in rain it already outspeeds everything up to full-invested base 100 at +1, while also giving Seismitoad the most damage output possible.

Since this set is used only in rain-oriented teams, Pelipper is a obrigatory teammate with it, since Pelipper's Drizzle supports Seismitoad by setupping rain. Ferrothorn is also a wonderful partner, pivoting into Grass-type moves for it with ease, while providing Spikes support for Seismitoad, enabling it to achieve KOs more easily. Barraskewda is another great partner for it, reaching insane Speed under rain, while providing great support with a strong priority move in Aqua Jet, picking up weakned opponents.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm going to have to QC reject this analysis. It almost entirely misses the mark on Seismitoad's niche and it would take way too much effort from our part to patch it up. I think it'd be easier for us to let someone else write this.

QC Rejected 1/2

edit: The writer asked to drop it, will move shortly.
