SS OU SD Lucario team

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Meteor Mash
- Extreme Speed
First off, the mon I decided to build this team around, Lucario isn't the best mon out there by a long shot, but he does have some unique qualities. First off, he's has a powerful stab combination with fighting and steel, as well as access to three different priority moves. I went with the RU set of sd, cc, meteor mash, and espeed. Sd is to boost lucario's power, cc and mm for stab, and espeed for a powerful 80 no +2 priority. Another option might be ice punch over mm and bullet punch over espeed. Inner focus is used to prevent lando from lowering lucario's attack, though justified could used to bait knock offs. I'm using adamant rn over jolly for the extra power as lucario is already decently fast, though jolly can out speed modest specs lele which is very important as lele's terrain keeps lucario from using his priority, which is a big deal for a mon with only base 90 speed.

Tapu Fini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Trick
- Scald
- Moonblast
Tapu fini is used as an urshifu and weavile switch in. Just the standard offensive scarf set. Scald and moonblast for stab, trick to cripple walls, and defog to get rid of hazards. Scarf also lets fini act as basic speed control for the team.

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- U-turn
The final member of the steel fairy dragon core. Dragapult acts as the strong special attacker of the team, typically just spamming shadow ball to soften up opponents. U-turn lets it act as a pivot, tbolt is kinda filler rn and can be replaced with either flamethrower or surf, depending on what you find more useful.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- U-turn
I decided to go with defensive lando to have a stealth rocker that could take some damage before going down. Eq is the obvious stab, knock for utility, and u-turn for pivoting. 92 speed lets lando outspeed jolly bisharp iirc, which, even though rare, is something I feel should be accounted for.

Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 220 Def / 40 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Heat Wave
The hawlucha check of the team. Even though lucha itself is mainly on ho, zapdos checks it and quite a few other mons. Heat wave over defog as I already have another defoger. Static is used for its 30% chance to paralyze on contact, letting it punish melm and moistshifu for just spamming their stabs.

Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Defog
- U-turn
- Knock Off
And finally, scizor, the special tank of the team. Defog helps with hazards, though will probably get replace by roost as fini already has defog. Bullet punch provides good priority. Knock off is used for utility, and u-turn lets scizor act as a slow pivot. Scizor is used to check lele and kyurem, who's powerful attacks could rip through the team otherwise.

Anyways, have a great day and happy battles

Hey RedDiamond1024, thanks for posting your team here!

I haven't used Lucario in years, and honestly I assumed it'd be real bad. After using the team for a while, I was really impressed! Lucario scares out a surprising amount of mons, and +2 E speed is no joke. The team is built to really solidly cover a lot of the threats in the current meta, while making good use of many of those same threats.

Specs Dragapult :choice specs: :dragapult: is a fantastic partner to Lucario :Lucario: as the two form a really nice 2-prong pair of attackers. Dragapult’s immediate speed and power let’s it smash holes in teams (it’s really insane how unprepared for this mon teams still are) that Lucario can exploit later on down the line. Lucario covers a lot of the threats to Dragapult like Weavile:Weavile:Heatran :Heatran: and Blissey :Blissey:

Moving onto some of the things that are hard for this team to play around:

:Blacephalon: :volcarona: Fire Types :Heatran: :Victini:

These guys are pretty overwhelming for a lot of teams right now honestly. Fini does an alright job of checking theif it’s healthy, but with no recovery and subpar damage output vs a +1 SpDef Volc, it’s definitely a notable weakness.

:Ferrothorn: :Melmetal: :Magnezone: Steel Types :Corviknight: :Kartana: :Skarmory:

Defensively, Zapdos is doing double-duty countering a whole lot of the meta including most steel and water types, but steel type mons are particularly hard to handle defensively if Zapdos goes down.

With all that said, here’s my suggestion:

Scizor:scizor: -> Heatran:heatran:

:sm/heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Toxic

Heatran traps, removes, or cripples a huge amount of threats to SD Lucario, as well as patching up many of the threats to the team. Bulky ground type mons like Garchomp :garchomp: Hippowdon:hippowdon: and Landorus-Therian:landorus-therian: as well as water types like Toxapex:Toxapex: and Slowbro:slowbro:

Additionally, it handles steel types extremely well, and provides the team with a hard counter for many of the fire type mobs that were troublesome like Volcarona and Victini. It also improves the matchup vs a few other mons like opposing Zapdos :Zapdos: and Buzzwole :Buzzwole:.

A few other tiny tweaks:

:Lucario:
Jolly > Adamant
This one comes down to preference, but I found the extra speed incredibly helpful.

:Landorus-therian:
SpDef > PhysDef
Having 2 bulky physically defensive flying types felt repetitive. SpDef lando is a great set right now, and helps against a lot of things like Koko and opposing Heatran

:Dragapult:
Flamethrower > Thunderbolt
I never clicked thunderbolt, but it is always nice to cook a ferrothorn

This was such a fun team to work on, and I really liked how it turned it. I hope you enjoy!

Here’s a paste of the updated team:
:Lucario: :Tapu Fini: :Dragapult: :Landorus-Therian: :Zapdos: :Heatran:

This is just not true. Lele is faster. I think Lucario is not good in OU, but let me know how far you get with it.
Jolly lucario does out speed modest lele even though lele is five points faster, natures make a large difference, for example adamant zera has a speed stat of 385, while jolly skewda has a speed stat of 408, even though zera has a base speed stat of 143 to skewda's 136. A bigger difference than lele's 95 to lucario's 90.
