BDSP Scizor

:dp/scizor:

[OVERVIEW]

Scizor is a defining Pokemon in BDSP OU due to its amazing typing, bulk, and versatility alongside its decent coverage. It's easy to fit on teams, checking common wallbreakers in Latios, Alakazam, and Weavile. It can be a slow defensive pivot, thanks to U-turn, a defensive Swords Dance cleaner late-game, or a dangerous offensive Swords Dance sweeper; the former two even can be compressed onto the same set. However, Scizor finds itself too reliant on Bullet Punch to deal damage, which allows Steel-resistant Pokemon such as Skarmory, Heatran, and Lucario to take advantage of it. Scizor is also vulnerable to the common Magnezone, which can trap and easily deal heavy damage to it. Scizor has a quadruple weakness to Fire, allowing Pokemon such as Garchomp, Clefable, and Togekiss to run Fire-type coverage, bait in Scizor, and OHKO it. Furthermore, defensive Scizor is setup fodder against the likes of Feraligatr, Dragonite, and Nasty Plot Rotom-W.

[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Bullet Punch
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Roost
move 4: Swords Dance / Defog
item: Leftovers
ability: Technician
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Technician-boosted Bullet Punch makes up for Scizor's low Speed tier, as it can be a reliable revenge killer. U-turn is the other STAB move of choice to slowly pivot and safely bring in other teammates. Swords Dance allows Scizor to become a sweeper or a late-game cleaner, using priority Bullet Punch to sweep. Defog is another option if your team already has a setup sweeper or lacks a Defogger. The EVs allow Scizor to always check Latios at full HP, being able to tank two Choice Specs Surfs after Stealth Rock damage. Alternatively, a spread of 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD can be used to better check Weavile while still not being too weak to Latios.

Scizor appreciates Defoggers like Gliscor and Latias to allow it to come onto the field more comfortably. Scizor is quadruply weak to Fire, so Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Latios, Latias, Starmie, and Rotom-W pair well with it. Starmie and Rotom-W are amazing with Scizor, as they threaten Infernape, Heatran, Skarmory, and Lucario. Additionally, Rotom-W and Gliscor are slow pivots and can form potent VoltTurn cores with it. Dangerous wallbreakers like Garchomp, Infernape, Latios, and Crawdaunt benefit from Scizor's slow U-turn allowing them free entry. Weavile, Alakazam, and Mamoswine also benefit from this, as they struggle to enter the field at times. Scizor finds it hard to deal with Magnezone Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp provide reliable counterplay against it. Scizor struggles greatly with setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Rotom-W, Feraligatr, and Dragonite, so Unaware Clefable makes a good partner to handle them Scizor struggles to dealing with the majority of bulky Water-types like Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Milotic, so partners like Shaymin and Rotom-C are helpful to deal with these checks, and Scizor can check the likes of Weavile for them. Shaymin can provide Healing Wish if Scizor is at very low HP and Rotom-C can cripple Scizor's checks with Trick Tangrowth can also help check Rotom-W, but due to its lacking Special Defense it is a lot shakier at doing so.

[SET]
name: Offensive Swords Dance
move 1: Bullet Punch
move 2: Quick Attack
move 3: Brick Break
move 4: Swords Dance
item: Life Orb
ability: Technician
nature: Adamant
evs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 216 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Quick Attack is another priority move used as coverage, as it is also boosted by Technician and can hit the likes of Rotom-W and Infernape. Brick Break deals with Magnezone and Heatran, OHKOing both after a Swords Dance. The EVs allow Scizor to outspeed Modest Magnezone, and maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature notably enables Scizor to 2HKO the likes of Gliscor and Skarmory after a Swords Dance.

This set fits best on hyper offense teams, which value Scizor's Steel typing and priority moves. Dual screens setters such as Azelf and Espeon allow Scizor to set up and sweep more easily. Azelf can provide Taunt and Explosion to stop other leads in their tracks and provide momentum, while Espeon provides Magic Bounce and Yawn to annoy other leads and deny entry hazards reliably. Hazard setters such as Focus Sash Azelf, Focus Sash Mamoswine, Custap Berry Skarmory, and Roserade can put Pokemon in range of Scizor's attacks, like putting Infernape in range of a boosted Quick Attack. Setup sweepers like Lucario, Infernape, Dragonite, and Breloom also provide setup and priority, wearing down threats reliably and creating insane offensive pressure, They can also take out the Fire-types that Scizor lures in, such as Heatran and Infernape, or weaken them with priority moves for Scizor to take them out later on. Similarly, Feraligatr takes care of these Fire-types, and it also forcibly chips bulky Water-types despite lacking priority. Offensive entry hazard removers like Starmie and Donphan not only keep the pressure on the opponent, but also allow Scizor to enter the field without harming its ability to sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Scizor can run a Choice Band set with an EV spread of 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe, a Jolly or Adamant Nature, and a moveset of Bullet Punch, U-turn, Brick Break, and Roost. This set can serve as a wincon on bulky offense or balance teams, but Scizor is severely outclassed by other Choice Band users, as a Choice-locked Scizor is easier to deal with. A 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD set with Shed Shell as the item can be used, strictly on balance, to semi-check Latios and escape Magnezone's Magnet Pull. However, this is rarely run as Scizor prefers Leftovers much more.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-type Pokemon**: Infernape and Heatran can switch into Scizor and effortlessly OHKO it with their STAB moves. However, Scizor can get momentum off of them with U-turn. Heatran must watch out for Brick Break, and Infernape may be OHKOed by boosted Quick Attack and is liable to taking chip damage. Similarly, the likes of Azelf, Togekiss, Clefable, and Garchomp can bait in Scizor and OHKO it with a Fire-type coverage move.

**Magnezone**: Magnezone can trap Scizor and 2HKO it with Choice Specs Thunderbolt. However, Magnezone does need to watch out for Brick Break, which can 2HKO it.

**Water-type Pokemon**: Rotom-W, Slowbro, Starmie, and Milotic switch into Scizor and check it reliably. Rotom-W can status Scizor with Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp or 2HKO it with a boosted Hydro Pump. Slowbro and Milotic wall defensive Scizor forever and can use Scald to burn it, with Slowbro even capable of 2HKOing it with Flamethrower. Similarly, Life Orb Starmie can switch in and 2HKO Scizor with Hydro Pump, but it must watch out for U-turn, which can 2HKO it.

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Pokemon like Skarmory and Lucario can switch into Scizor and comfortably check it. Skarmory can freely set up entry hazards on Scizor and can also use Taunt to prevent it from using Defog. Lucario can use Scizor as a free chance to set up Swords Dance, proceeding to OHKO it.However, Lucario must watch out for Brick Break.

[OVERVIEW]

Scizor‘s (say that it’s very good here, probs like “scizor is one of the best pokemon due to so and so’ or something among those lines) good typing in Bug / Steel, outstanding bulk, a plethora of utility moves, Technician-boosted Bullet Punch, decent coverage in Brick break and Quick attack, and access to Swords Dance make it the one of the most, if not the most, meta defining Pokemon. Scizor is an amazing defensive centerpiece in the meta has great defensive utility, making it extremely good glue for easy to fit, as Scizor checks the tier's wallbreakers such as Latios, Togekiss, and Weavile. Scizor also has a very comfortable place in every playstyle due to it's huge versatility. It can be a Wallbreaker, an extremely dangerous sweeper, or a slow pivot expand on these, and make slow pivot first. However, Scizor has a lot of flaws that are easy to exploit. fluff Scizor find's itself too reliant on Bullet Punch to deal damage which allows Steel-resistant Pokemon such as Skarmory, Heatran, and Lucario to take advantage of it or threaten it. It is vulnerable to being trapped by Magnezone deserves a mention as it can trap Scizor with Magnet pull and 2HKO it. Scizor has a 4x quadruple weakness to fire allowing Pokemon that run fire Fire-type coverage such as Garchomp, Clefable, and Togekiss to bait in Scizor and OHKO it. And lastly, Scizor find's itself being setup fodder against the likes of Feraligatr, Dragonite and Nasty Plot Rotom-W how so?,. Scizor can attempt to setup against them with Swords Dance but will fail to OHKO them before they can OHKO Scizor.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
Welcome to Scizor's most meta defining set.
fluff
Technician-boosted Bullet Punch make's up for Scizor's low speed tier as it can be a reliable revenge killer. U-turn is the preferable STAB move as it can utilize Scizor's low speed tier to be a slow pivot for teammates to come in costless. The EVs and nature allow Scizor to repeatedly switch into the likes of Latios and Weavile move this to the end. Roost and Leftovers is are mandatory because of this as it allows Scizor to keep it's longevity to continue checking them Latios and Weavile. Swords Dance allows Scizor to turn into a sweeper or a late game cleaner, using priority Bullet Punch to sweep. Defog is listed as it allows Scizor to get off hazards as it sees itself having a lot of free turns to pull this off. Additionally if you are using Defog, a Relaxed nature is can be used since foregoing Swords Dance you no longer value speed as much, and it allows it Scizor to be a better slow pivot against other Scizor.

Paragraph 2
Scizor can pair with almost everything in the meta. If using Swords Dance over Defog, Scizor appreciates Defoggers like Gliscor and Latias as they are amazing Hazard removal and allow Scizor to pivot and come onto the field more comfortably. Scizor is 4x quadruple weak to Fire-type moves so Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Latios, Latias, Starmie, and Rotom-W pair well. Starmie and Rotom-W is amazing with Scizor as they threaten Infernape and ,(AC) Heatran and other Pokemon such as , (AC) Skarmory and Lucario as these are all Pokemon that threaten Scizor back or take advantage of it. Additionally, Rotom-W and Gliscor pair well with Scizor as they are all slow pivots to bring in Wallbreakers that can form potent pivot cores with Scizor. Wallbreakers like Garchomp, Infernape, Latios, and Crawdaunt benefit from this Scizor’s slow U-Turn allowing them free entry, as they are dangerous once they enter the field and enter it costless at that. Weavile, Alakazam, and Mamoswine also benefit from this as they struggle to enter the field at times. Scizor find's it hard to deal with Magnezone so Ground-type's like Gliscor and Garchomp provide reliable counterplay against it. Latios, Garchomp and you already talked abt how these dudes like sciz Magnezone pairs amazingly well with Scizor, (AC) as Scizor can switch into Weavile and Handle it while Magnezone Traps other Steel-type Pokemon like Skarmory and Scizor and take them out reliably and allow Latios and Garchomp to wallbreak more easily. Scizor struggles dealing with Rotom-W so partners like Shaymin and Rotom-M can come in and deal with it as Scizor can check the likes of Weavile for them. Shaymin can provide Healing wish if Scizor is at very low HP and Rotom-M can utilize Trick in conjuction with Choice Scarf to allow Scizor to deal with its checks more easily. Tangrowth can also help check Rotom-W but due to Tangrowth's lacking Spdef Special Defense stat, it is a lot more shaky at doing so.

Paragraph 1
Offensive allows Scizor to use Bullet Punch and Swords Dance to turn it into a deadly sweeper. Quick attack and Brick Break are Mandatory as it allows Scizor to get pass Rotom-W, Heatran, Magnezone reliably to allow it to maximize its sweeping power. this is lacking, at least talk about what the evs do and make quick attack and brick break two different sentences.

Paragraph 2
This set fits best on Hyper offense as Scizor provides a solid defensive backbone for the team. Screen setters such as Azelf and Espeon are good partners to allow Scizor to setup and sweep more easily. Azelf can provide Taunt and Explosion to stop other leads in their tracks and provide momentum, while Espeon provides Magic Bounce and Yawn to let it annoy other leads and keep hazards off reliably. Hazard setters such as Focus Sash Azelf, Focus Sash Mamoswine, and Custap Berry Skarmory also work well with Scizor as Scizor is more likely to break walls thanks to hazards as entry hazards can put Pokemon in range of its attacks. Similarly, Toxic Spike Setters such as Roserade and Forretress forre is not good are able allow Scizor to break through the likes of Slowbro more easily with Quick Attack i would probs just put this with the other entry hazard setters, no?. Setup sweepers like Lucario, Infernape, Dragonite, and Breloom work well with Scizor as they all provide priority, Swords Dance dnite doesn’t have swords dance for speed control and chips can wear down threats reliably and create insane offensive pressure, They are also able to take out the Fire-types that Scizor lures such as Heatran and Infernape and are able to take them out with boosted Priority or weaken them and allow Scizor to take them out later on. Offensive Hazard removals like Starmie and Donphan to not only keep the pressure on, But remove Hazards to allow Scizor to better enter the field without harming it's ability to sweep.

**Fire-type Pokemon**: Infernape and Heatran switch into Scizor and threaten it back with STAB and OHKO it flawlessly. However, (AC) Scizor may can get momentum off of them due to with U-turn. Heatran must watch out for Brick Break, and Infernape may be OHKO'd by boosted Quick Attack from Offensive Scizor. you could mention fire type coverage from stuff like clef togekiss azelf etc.

**
Magnezone**: Magnezone can traps Scizor and 2HKO's it with Choice Specs Thunderbolt. However, Magnezone does need to watch out for Brick Break, (AC) as it can be 2HKO'd by it.

Scizor's good typing in Bug / Steel, outstanding bulk, a plethora of utility moves, (such as?) Technician-boosted Bullet Punch, decent coverage in Brick Break and Quick Attack,(remove comma) and access to Swords Dance (you dont really have your priorities straight with this, since the bulk is decent but not outstanding, bullet punch is very important, should point out the access to recovery immediately, and THEN talk about utility (defog) and SD sets) make it the one of the most, if not the most, meta defining Pokemon. Scizor is an amazing defensive centerpiece in the meta making it an extremely good glue for teams as Scizor checks the tier's wallbreakers such as Latios, Togekiss Alakazam, and Weavile. [OVERVIEW]

Scizor is one of the most meta defining Pokemon due to an amazing typing in Bug / Steel, decent bulk, amazing versatility ranging in both defensive or offensive Swords Dance sets, and Defog, (AC) sets and decent coverage in Brick Break and Quick Attack. Scizor has great defensive utility making it easy to fit as Scizor checks wallbreakers in Latios, Alakazam, and Weavile. Scizor also has a very comfortable place in every playstyle due to its huge versatility. It can be a slow defensive pivot thanks to U-turn, defensive Swords Dance for late game cleaning, or offensive Swords Dance sets to turn Scizor into a dangerous sweeper. However, Scizor finds itself too reliant on Bullet Punch to deal damage which allows Steel-resistant Pokemon such as Skarmory, Heatran, and Lucario to take advantage of it or threaten it. It Scizor is also vulnerable to being trapped by Magnezone and can easily get become heavily chipped, making Magnezone a reliable check to Scizor. Scizor has a quadruple weakness to fire, (AC) allowing Pokemon that run Fire-type coverage such as Garchomp, Clefable, and Togekiss to bait in Scizor and OHKO it. Defensive Scizor finds itself being setup fodder against the likes of Feraligatr, Dragonite and Nasty Plot Rotom-W since Scizor has little ways of threatening them effectively and is easily forced out.

[SET COMMENTS]

Welcome to Scizor's most meta defining set. Technician-boosted Bullet Punch makes up for Scizor's low speed tier as it can be a reliable revenge killer. U-turn is the other STAB move of choice as it allows Scizor to be a slow pivot to safely bring in other teammates on the field. allowing free entry. Roost and Leftovers are mandatory as they it allows Scizor to be a long-term check to the likes of Latios. Swords Dance allows Scizor to turn into a sweeper or a late game cleaner, using priority Bullet Punch to sweep. Defog is another option if your team already has a setup sweeper or lacks a Pokemon that can use Defog. The EVs allow Scizor to always being able to check Latios at full HP, being able to tank two Specs Surf after Stealth Rock damage, while the rest is dumped in Defense. and support nice physical bulk to blanket check Garchomp and Mamoswine, all though Scizor can be shaky at this. (then why mention it?) Additionally, an EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd can be used if another Latios check is on the team and these EV's allow Scizor to better check Weavile. (maybe mention the impish 156 spread to better check Weavile but I never saw max def scizor ngl)

Scizor can pair with almost everything in the meta. (that's kind of a blank statement) If using Swords Dance over Defog, Scizor appreciates Defoggers like Gliscor and Latias as they are amazing hazard removal and allow Scizor to pivot and come onto the field more comfortably. Scizor is quadruple weak to Fire-type moves so Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Latios, Latias, Starmie, and Rotom-W pair well. Starmie and Rotom-W are amazing with Scizor as they threaten Infernape, Heatran, Skarmory and Lucario. Additionally, Rotom-W and Gliscor pair well with Scizor as they are all slow pivots that can form potent pivot cores with Scizor. Garchomp, Infernape, Latios, and Crawdaunt benefit from Scizor's slow U-turn allowing them free entry, as they are dangerous once they enter the field. Weavile, Alakazam, and Mamoswine also benefit from this as they struggle to enter the field at times. Scizor finds it hard to deal with Magnezone so Ground-types like Gliscor and Garchomp provide reliable counterplay against it. Magnezone pairs amazingly well with Scizor, as a more physically defensive Scizor can switch into Weavile (not really what id mention for a double steel core, Magnezone eats one and Scizor cant always eat one anyway, but generally Weavile isnt the major annoyance of a double steel core) and handle it while Magnezone traps other Steel-type Pokemon like Skarmory and Scizor and take them out reliably. Scizor struggles dealing with Rotom-W (and generally other bulky waters...?) so partners like Shaymin and Rotom-M can come in and deal with it as Scizor can check the likes of Weavile for them. Shaymin can provide Healing Wish if Scizor is at very low HP and Rotom-M can utilize Trick in conjuction with Choice Scarf to allow Scizor to deal with its checks more easily. Tangrowth can also help check Rotom-W but due to Tangrowth's lacking Special Defense stat, it is a lot more shaky at doing so.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set allows Scizor to become a dangerous sweeper or late game cleaner. Bullet Punch is the preferred STAB as it is priority and is boosted by Technician and makes up for Scizor's lacking speed. Quick Attack is another priority used as coverage, as it is also boosted by Technician and can hit the likes of Rotom-W and Infernape. Brick Break deals with is coverage for the likes of Magnezone and Heatran as boosted Brick Break can OHKO both of them. the EVs allow Scizor to outspeed up to Modest the likes of Magnezone and defensive Heatran, and max investment with an Adamant nature is mandatory to capitalize on Scizor's wallbreaking powers, as this noticeably can 2HKO the likes of Gliscor and Skarmory after a Swords Dance. (removed a LOT of repetition)

This set fits best on Hyper Offense as Scizor provides a solid defensive backbone (not really defensive although you can mention being a Steel type, also most importantly gives valuable priority moves) for the team. Screen setters such as Azelf and Espeon are good partners to allow Scizor to setup and sweep more easily. Azelf can provide Taunt and Explosion to stop other leads in their tracks and provide momentum, while Espeon provides Magic Bounce and Yawn to annoy other leads and keep hazards off reliably. **Fire-type Pokemon**: Infernape and Heatran can switch into Scizor and threaten it back with their STABS, OHKOing it effortlessly. However, Scizor can get momentum off of them with U-turn. Heatran must watch out for Brick Break, and Infernape may be OHKO'd by boosted Quick Attack from Offensive Scizor (or repeatedly chipped away since Infernape can't recover). **Water-type Pokemon**: Rotom-W, Slowbro, Starmie, and Milotic switch into Scizor and check it reliably. to blanket check the likes of Weavile.
its not a blanket check, remove "blanket"

Scizor appreciates Defoggers like Gliscor and Latias as they are amazing hazard removal and allow Scizor to pivot and come onto the field more comfortably. Scizor struggles dealing with the majority of bulky Water-types like Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Milotic so partners like Shaymin and Rotom-M can come in and deal with it as Scizor can check the likes of Weavile for them.
I'd add Clefable to this list; it's pretty essential on the balance builds defensive Scizor gets run on, and it can deal with the powerful sweepers that can set up on Scizor like Feraligatr and NP Rotom-W.

This set allows Scizor to become a dangerous sweeper or late game cleaner.

Hazard setters such as Focus Sash Azelf, Focus Sash Mamoswine, Custap Berry Skarmory, and Roserade also work well with Scizor as entry hazards can put Pokemon in range of its attacks.
as a specific mention, scizor needs infernape to take rocks or spikes once to put it in range of +2 Quick Attack

This set fits best on Hyper Offense as Scizor's Steel typing and priority is valuable for the team. Hazard setters such as Focus Sash Azelf, Focus Sash Mamoswine, Custap Berry Skarmory, and Roserade also work well with Scizor as entry hazards can put Pokemon in range of its attacks. Setup sweepers like Lucario, Infernape, Dragonite, and Breloom work well with Scizor as they all provide priority, and boosting moves and can wear down threats reliably and create insane offensive pressure, They are also able to take out the Fire-types that Scizor lures such as Heatran and Infernape and are able to take them out with boosted priority or weaken them and allow Scizor to take them out later on. Offensive hazard removers like Starmie and Donphan are also good partners to not only keep the pressure on the opponent, but also to allow Scizor to enter the field without harming its ability to sweep.
mention gatr cause it loves scizor forcing chip onto Rotom-W and it can take advantage of choice locked ape.

Pokemon like Skarmory and Lucario can switch into Scizor and comfortably check it.
lucario can't really switch into scizor, it values its HP too much.

2/2, do a bit of gp cleaning if you get the chance, just a once over before you put it in the queue
