VGC Sash Wet Bear (Urshifu-R) [GP 1/1]

[SET]
Glass Cannon (Urshifu-Rapid-Strike) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Water / Stellar
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet / Taunt
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
Urshifu-R is one of the strongest physical attackers in the format and can punish defensive plays with its ability Unseen Fist. It has a great matchup into Incineroar, since it ignores Intimidate with its signature move Surging Strikes, can switch into Chien-Pao and Calyrex-I, and is able to deal significant damage to Terapagos with Close Combat. Aqua Jet is almost unstoppable with Unseen Fist and can pick off Pokemon low on HP or deal damage before Urshifu-R gets KOed. Taunt gives it a much better matchup into Amoonguss, shutting it down almost completely, and it prevents Calyrex-I from setting up Trick Room. Focus Sash gives it more survivability and helps with its relatively low Special Defense. Tera Water allows Urshifu-R to deal incredibly high damage with Surging Strikes, allowing for an OHKO against common threats such as Flutter Mane and Chien-Pao through Focus Sash. Tera Stellar lets it OHKO Terapagos-S with Close Combat but loses the consistency of Tera Water, since Urshifu-R can no longer use boosted Surging Strikes repeatedly.

Urshifu-R works incredibly well in Calyrex-S teams, since it can threaten the Normal- and Dark-types that Calyrex-S struggles with, such as Terapagos and Incineroar. In exchange, Calyrex-S can deal with Raging Bolt, which is one of the most common checks to Urshifu-R, as Raging Bolt can use Thunderclap before Urshifu-R can move to bring it down to Focus Sash while also being able to switch-in on Surging Strikes. Urshifu-R synergizes well with Rillaboom and Incineroar, since Fake Out and Unseen Fist are a deadly combination, punishing passive plays such as Protect that try to avoid the flinching turn. Their typings also have incredible synergy with each other, allowing them to switch in on many attacks that Urshifu-R is threatened by. With its great physical bulk and natural type advantage, Rillaboom is a great check to it, slowing Urshifu-R down with Fake Out or doing high damage to it with Wood Hammer or Grassy Glide. Urshifu-R also struggles with Amoonguss, which is able to completely wall it while protecting its teammates with Rage Powder or putting it to sleep with Spore. Tornadus is a good partner for Urshifu-R, helping with its average Speed stat by setting up Tailwind, heavily increasing the damage Urshifu-R does while making the Koraidon matchup easier by using Rain Dance and threatening the Grass-types which could otherwise be problematic such as Amoonguss and Rillaboom with Bleakwind Storm. Koraidon and Miraidon are some of the Restricted Pokemon that have the best matchup into Urshifu-R, as Koraidon is able to set up sun and greatly reduce its damage, while Miraidon is able to outspeed it and bring it down to Focus Sash while also pivoting out with Volt Switch.

Urshifu-R is one of the strongest physical attackers in the format and can punish defensive plays you say this and proceed never to elaborate about protect or anything, incin doesn't have protect with its ability Unseen Fist, having a great match-up into Incineroar, since it ignores Intimidate with its signature move Surging Strikes, can switch-in front of Chien-Pao and Calyrex-I how important is this? you're sash so you don't have much bulk anyways, and deal significant damage to Terapagos with Close Combat. Aqua Jet is almost unavoidable with Unseen Fist and can pick up Pokemon low on HP or deal damage before Urshifu-R gets KOed. Taunt gives it a much better match-up into Amoonguss, shutting it down almost completely and prevents Calyrex-I from setting up Trick Room. Focus Sash gives it more survivability and helps with its relatively low special defense stat. Tera Water allows Urshifu-R to deal incredibly high damage with Surging Strikes, allowing for an OHKO against common threats such as Flutter Mane and Chien-Pao perhaps mentions through focus sash. Tera Stellar allows it to OHKO Terapagos with Close Combat, but loses the consistency of Tera Water.

Urshifu-R works incredibly well in Calyrex-S teams, since it can threaten the Normal- and Dark-types that Calyrex-S struggles with, such as Terapagos and Incineroar. It also sinergyzes synergizes well with Rillaboom and Incineroar, since Fake Out and Unseen Fist is a deadly combination, punishing passive plays such as Protect I think this avoids the problem in the first sentence, to avoid the flinching turn. Tornadus is another good partner for Urshifu-R, helping with its average speed stat by setting up Tailwind, heavily increasing the damage Urshifu-R does by using Rain Dance or threatening Grass-types which could otherwise be problematic like? with Bleakwind Storm. One of the most common checks to Urshifu-R is Raging Bolt, since it is able to use Thunderclap before it can move to bring it down to its Focus Sash or KO it if already took some damage so what partners help ursh get around this? if none relevant you don't need to bother but might be good to mention that tera fairy caly s makes for good partnership.. With its great physical bulk and natural type advantage, Rillaboom is also a great check to it, slowing it down with Fake Out or doing high damage to it with Wood Hammer or Grassy Glide. Urshifu-R also struggles with Amoonguss, which is able to completely wall it while protecting its teammates with Rage Powder or putting it to sleep with Spore put the point on torn after this so it flows as torn being a good partner for urshifu because of these checks. Koraidon and Miraidon are some of the Restricted Pokemon that have the best match-up into it, since Koraidon is able to set up sun and greatly reduce its damage while Miraidon is able to outspeed it and bring it down to Focus Sash while also pivoting out with Volt Switch.

Aqua Jet is almost unavoidable (might just be me but this sounds a bit off) with Unseen Fist and can pick up Pokemon low on HP or deal damage before Urshifu-R gets KOed. Taunt gives it a much better match-up into Amoonguss, shutting it down almost completely and prevents Calyrex-I from setting up Trick Room. Focus Sash gives it more survivability and helps with its relatively low special defense stat. Tera Water allows Urshifu-R to deal incredibly high damage with Surging Strikes, allowing for an OHKO against common threats such as Flutter Mane and Chien-Pao through Focus Sash. Tera Stellar allows it to OHKO Terapagos (specify that it has to be w/o tera shell or stellar form) with Close Combat, but loses the consistency of Tera Water (how? Mention that you can't repeatedly click surging strikes next to torn to sweep or smth).

Urshifu-R works incredibly well in Calyrex-S teams, since it can threaten the Normal- and Dark-types that Calyrex-S struggles with, such as Terapagos and Incineroar, while Calyrex-S can deal with Raging Bolt, one of the most common checks to Urshifu-R, since it is able to use Thunderclap before it can kove move to bring it down to Focus Sash (basically all mons can do this, what makes bolt unique? Maybe talk about how bolt can switch in to strikes or smth). It also synergizes well with Rillaboom and Incineroar, since Fake Out and Unseen Fist is a deadly combination, punishing passive plays such as Protect to avoid the flinching turn. (mention the switch synergy) With its great physical bulk and natural type advantage, Rillaboom is also a great check to it, slowing it down with Fake Out or doing high damage to it with Wood Hammer or Grassy Glide. Urshifu-R also struggles with Amoonguss, which is able to completely wall it while protecting its teammates with Rage Powder or putting it to sleep with Spore.
