Sandstorms and Mega Garchomp (Currently 1700)

Garchomp has always been my favorite pokemon so upon its receiving of a Mega Evolution I had to make a team for it.

Garchomp-Mega @ Garchompite

Ability: Sand Force

EVs: 224 Atk / 32 SAtk / 252 Spd

Naughty Nature

- Earthquake

- Draco Meteor

- Stone Edge

- Fire Blast

I chose to use mixed Garchomp as it would allow me to have him out more often than if he was a set up sweeper and after playing with Swords Dance Garchomp I found him difficult to set up and leave out due to his low speed as there were many effective checks to him. Further, most people do not expect a mixed Garchomp and thus he is very effective at destroying walls. I might change Draco Meteor to Dragon Claw as it hasn't been all that useful and I have seen several Goodra, however Draco Meteor kills Hippowdon. Earthquake is the main STAB and also hurts the Fire and Steel Types that wall Genesect. Stone Edge and Fire Blast kill allow him to kill his common switch ins, clearing the way for Genesect's sweep.

Tyranitar @ Leftovers

Ability: Sand Stream

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef

Sassy Nature

- Stealth Rock

- Fire Blast

- Crunch

- Stone Edge

Tyranitar is one of my main leads and also provides Sandstorm to activate Garchomp's ability, he is taken over Hippowdon as he does not share Ground Typing with Garchomp. He also helps take the Fire Type attacks Skarmory and Genesect despise. Tyranitar is also useful in tanking special hits and as such has fully invested Special Defense. Stealth Rock is chosen to help the team, but forces him to run Leftovers. Fire Blast is taken to defeat common leads such as Forretress and Skarmory, because of this I chose a nature that did not harm its bulk or offense and its speed was already below many threats. Crunch and Stone Edge provide STAB.

Skarmory @ Leftovers

Ability: Sturdy

EVs: 224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SDef

Impish Nature

- Spikes

- Roost

- Whirlwind

- Taunt

Skarmory is the team's physical walls and takes the Fighting and Ground Type attacks that Tyranitar hates. Skarmory can also function as a lead and is used when the enemy's possible leads threaten Tyranitar. Spikes are helpful as there is often an opportunity for them to be set up. Roost provides needed recovery. Whirlwind is helpful to prevent the opponent from setting up. Taunt allows Skarmory to halt other leads attempts to set up. I have also seen the need to possibly replace Whirlwind or Taunt (likely Taunt) with Brave Bird as sometimes, he just needs the ability to attack something.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef

Calm Nature

- Volt Switch

- Hydro Pump

- Will-O-Wisp

- Pain Split

Rotom-Wash helps take the Ice and Water type attacks Garchomp and Tyranitar hate. Thus it has defensive investment, although I am not certain that they are optimal. Volt Switch provides STAB and momentum and Hydro Pump gives additional STAB. Will-O-Wisp helps improve his defense as he lacks defense EV's and the Fire types that are immune to it already are in fear of Hydro Pump. Pain Split is one of Rotom's few means of recovery and also help injure the pink blobs, Chansey and Blissey, who often switch into Rotom. Chesto Rest has its merits as well but it is only usable once.

Genesect @ Leftovers

Ability: Download

EVs: 234 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Spd

Hasty Nature

- Shift Gear

- X-Scissor

- Iron Head

- Extreme Speed

Genesect is the late game sweeper of the team. Shift Gear is what makes boosting Genesect work as it is simply a better version of Dragon Dance. Extreme Speed gives him priority and can even allow him to check threats like Talonflame. X-Scissor and Iron Head are STAB although X-Scissor could be replaced by Blaze Kick to defeat steel types but I feel X-Scissor is more beneficial as it allows Genesect to defeat bulky Water Types. Leftovers and the HP EVs make it easier for Genesect to set up, however, I might change them to Life Orb and Speed EVs to give Genesect more immediate power and the ability to outspeed base 95s without setting up. Hasty Nature is there as it makes other Genesect gain an attack boost from Download, and the only other option is Naive.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature

- Psyshock

- Surf

- Thunderbolt

- Roost

After testing, I needed something that could help beat Heatran and Water Types. In order to accomplish this, I decided to add Latias. EV's give her the most speed and allow her to hit the hardest, however I might add some bulk. Psyshock is useful STAB and can hit special walls, especially Blissey, hard. Surf allows Latias to defeat Heatran, who can halt Genesect's sweep. Thunderbolt hits water types for super effective damage. Roost allows Latias to increase her longevity. So far I think she is better than her brother, Latios, for this team as her bulk is often important. Although, I am not certain if she, or this set of hers, is the best fit for the team.

I think a scarf genesect is a big threat to your team seeing as you don't have many switch ins to it, so I would recommend potential check to him like heatran, also I see a big threat against your team being choice specs politoed which can take away your weather and just spam scald/hydro pump dealing massive amounts of damage, also keldeo is really scary too I would actually recommend maybe a gastrodon for that water immunity and sandstorm advantage.

This is just my opinion but i'd swap skarmory for a bulky landorus T with SR so you can be free to run assault vest on your tyranitar. Also you get a little volt turn action with rotom, genesect, and lando. If you are using these suggestion then you might also change genesect to your generic scarf set and swap alakazam for sitrus berry talonflame

Thanks for the input.

I haven't had any problems with scarf genesect as I have always been able to out predict them. As for the water types, I keep testing different options to beat them, currently I have been using Latias.

I tried Landorus-T but found he shared too many weaknesses with Tyranitar and Garchomp. However, I added Stealth Rock to Skarmory and gave Ttar an Axxault Vest. After testing Talonflame, I felt it wasn't that helpful if Stealth Rock was up and that I didn't want to alter the rest of my team to accommodate it. Scarf Genesect has its merits but I would need a new lategame sweeper.
