Introduction:
Hello Smogon!
Welcome to my RMT! I wanted to post this team because it was the team I used to first break 1400 (wow im bad lol). I actually started using Mega Gardevoir because it is my sister's favorite Pokemon and she wanted me to build a team around her. So I did, and it ended up being the best team I ever built. Well it ended up being changed to Diancie lol

Teambuilding Process:
gardevoir-mega.png

I started with an insanely powerful wallbreaker and one of the best Fairy types in OU, Mega Gardevoir.
gardevoir-mega.png
tyranitar.png
excadrill.png

Sand has great type synergy with Mega Gardevoir because she can switch into Fighting types for TTar and Excadrill and they can kill steels for Gardevoir.

keldeo.png

Keldeo helps kill more Steel types like Ferrothorn and Skarmory.

thundurus.png

Thundurus is a great special sweeper and can cripple fast things like Mega Lopunny that really hurt this team.

Gliscor walls and sets up on Excadrill and Mega Lopunny without Ice Punch and is a great stallbreaker.

Since this left the team very weak to Flying types, born ready suggested Mega Diancie

------------------
A Closer Look:
------------------

diancie-mega.png

Diancie
Item:
Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 36 HP / 32 Atk / 252 SpA / 188 Spe
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
Rock Polish
Moonblast
Diamond Storm
Earth Power

Gardevoir was changed to Diancie because Gardevoir is pretty underwhelming in ORAS, especially right now with all the faster offensive teams running around. Diancie also provides a wincon against faster teams with Rock Polish. Moonblast and Diamond Storm are spammable STABS and Earth Power covers against Steel types which would otherwise wall her.

hippowdon.png

Hippowdon
Item:
Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Nature: Impish
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Stealth Rock

Slack Off

Because of Nedor's suggestions, I changed Tyranitar to mixed defensive Hippowdon. Hippo provides a way to reliaby check Excadrill now that Gliscor is gone, and it also helps with Mega Lopunny.

excadrill.png

Excadrill
Item:
Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
Earthquake
Iron Head
Rock Slide
Swords Dance

Next up is the main physical sweeper and semi-wallbreaker of my team, Excadrill. In sand, he outspeeds 99.9% of Pokemon in OU and with a great attack stat he can easily sweep balance and HO teams. Life Orb boosts his power even higher and the EVs max out speed and power. Rock Slide covers for Flying types that are immune to EQ and SD helps Exca wallbreak and sweep easier.

keldeo.png

Keldeo
Item:
Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
Scald
Secret Sword
Hydro Pump
Hidden Power (Electric)

Keldeo was added because I needed a way to check Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor and I have a lot of ways to kill the Lati twins which are problematic for Keldeo. I chose HP Electric because I needed a way to beat Azumarill after it BDs. Choice Specs give Keldeo amazing power and don't give recoil.

amoonguss.png

Amoonguss
Item: Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Nature: Calm (+SpD, -Atk)
Spore
Clear Smog
Giga Drain
Sludge Bomb

Amoonguss is my pivot and counter to most Water types, such as Azumarill and Keldeo. Spore can almost remove a non-grass Pokemon from the game and Giga + Sludge are STABS. Clear Smog removes stat changes which can stop sweeper in their tracks.

latias.png

Latias
Item:
Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
IVs: 29 HP / 0 Atk
Draco Meteor
Psyshock
Recover
Defog

Based on Nedor's suggestion, I changed Gliscor to Latias. Latias provides a switch-in to Water types which I desperately needed. Lati also provides Defog support which frees up a moveslot on Excadrill. Draco Meteor has incredible power with Life Orb, and Recover heals off the recoil.

Former Team Members:
gliscor.png

Gliscor
Item: Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 8 Def / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Nature: Careful
Swords Dance

Earthquake
Knock Off
Roost

Last but certainly not least is my secondary physical wall/sweeper/stallbreaker, Gliscor. Gliscor is a Pokemon that can almost do it all, as he is able to wall a good portion of the metagame and he can stallbreak fairly well. Poison Heal is a amazing ability for a defensive Pokemon as it is a status immunity coupled with double leftovers. DOUBLE LEFTOVERS. 244 EVs invested into HP let Gliscor hit a Poison Heal number, allowing it to gain maximal recovery from Poison Heal each turn. 56 Speed EVs enable Gliscor to outpace Adamant Bisharp and Breloom.
tyranitar.png

Tyranitar

Item: Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Nature: Relaxed (+Def, -Spe)
Stealth Rock

Crunch
Ice Beam
Stone Edge

Tyranitar was added because he has pretty good synergy with Mega Gardevoir, as she can switch into Fighting type attacks for him, and Tyranitar can switch into Ghost and Poison moves for Gardevoir. Tyranitar is my SR settter and my bird check, both of which are extremely important RN. Crunch and Stone Edge are decent dual STAB coverage, and Ice Beam is coverage for Garchomp and Landorus. The EVs and nature max out Defense because his SpDef is already extremely high with sand up.

gardevoir-mega.png

Gardevoir
Item:
Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace ---> Pixilate
EVs: 24 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
Hyper Voice
Psyshock
Focus Blast
Will-O-Wisp

What better way to start then with the star of the show. Mega Gardevoir is a crazy powerful wallbreaker and her dual STABs are only resisted by Steel types. Focus Blast covers for that but the accuracy is extremely shaky. Not as shaky as Rock Slide, but still shaky. Will-O-Wisp is a lure for Scizor which does threaten my team if Keldeo dies. Psyshock hits on the physical side, allowing her to break through special walls such as Chansey. Trace is a great ability before mega evolving because you can do many things such as stealing Regenerator from Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Slowbro, utilizing Magic Bounce from Mega Sableye to reflect Will-O-Wisp, taking advantage of Manectric's Lightning Rod, Intimidating Landorus-T and Gyarados, and trapping Magnezone locked into a Hidden Power.

thundurus.png

Thundurus
Item:
Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
Nasty Plot
Thunderbolt

Hidden Power (Ice)
Thunder Wave

Next up is my main special sweeper and only way to slow down faster threats, Thundurus Incarnate. Thundurus is one of the only Pokemon in the game with access to prankster T-Wave, which is probably one of the best Ability-move combos in the game RN because offense is everywhere. Nasty Plot allows Thundurus to sweep weakened teams with his pretty good BoltBeam coverage.
Threatlist:
scizor-mega.png
I have to keep Keldeo alive
rotom-wash.png
Very hard to kill, i have to get Latias in on it

Hi.
You could try Choice Scarf Tyranitar with Pursuit, you get Lati@s to helps Keldeo in sweep. And Celebi in place of Gliscor, a good switch in Rotom-W and Mega Lopunny, chek Azumarill and can paralize another mons.

I hope I've helped. Have a nice day.

I'll get straight into the build as it is suboptimal and can be improved with multiple changes. I like the recent rise of Mega Gardevoir builds both in RMT's and on the ladder as I've always felt like it was a solid Mega. Personally, using two Ground types with your main Keldeo / general Water switch-in being your own Keldeo is a terrible idea. With some prior damage on Mega Gardevoir and a removed Thundurus, which are two easily accomplished goals, both Specs and Scarfed Keldeo runs through your team with relative ease. Opposing Sand Offense is extremely annoying for this build as your main way of dealing with it is a SpD Gliscor which isn't reliable by any means; SD LO / Balloon Excadrill with the right amount of Sand turns cannot get revenge killed. Threatening Physical attackers, specifically Mega Lopunny has a form of counterplay in Thunder Wave Thundurus and Excadrill in Sand, but is still problematic indefinitely.

As I feel Gliscor is completely irrelevant on this build and saps momentum, a beneficial change of Defog Latias > SpD Gliscor should be made. This would help in checking the problematic Waters mentioned above, while breaking Rotom-W which is on your threatlist. Running Defog would enable you to have an extra move on Excadrill, so I'd change Rapid Spin to Swords Dance as it provides a lot more wallbreaking power and pressuring slower teams that rely on Hippowdon as a check.

The next change that I'd make is Mixed Def Hippowdon > Tyranitar. This advantageous change helps in checking Sand Offense along with Mega Lopunny, while maintaining a consistent Stealth Rocker, Sand setter, and providing a blanket check to overlooked threats. Leftovers would be the best item to avoid certain 2HKO's, and I feel as if you don't need the extra turns to abuse Offense with Excadrill because of Thunder Wave providing Speed control.

A few nitpicks I have is to change Will-o-Wisp to Taunt or Encore on Mega Gardevoir to help against bulkier set-up mons and Stall in general to remedy the loss of Gliscor. Also, I would run HP Bug > HP Electric on Specs Keldeo to break Defensive variants of Celebi which wall a large portion of your build, and potentially lure it, so SD Excadrill can clean relatively easily.

I tried to keep the foundation of the build the same because otherwise, it would not be worth a rate. The changes I provided structures a clear and efficient goal, while keeping relevant Pokemon in check. Hope you like the updated build!

It's okay that that you changed a lot, because I'm not that great at team building and I appreciate all the help!

EDIT: Do you think Altaria would be a better fit on this team?

hey man thanks for asking me via PM a rate appreciated, so let's get into it seem like Nedor take all the negative thing and make you a good suggestions. Looking in your threat list i really dont think Loppu is a problem because hippowdon walled very easily even if he had ice punch (same power as return) the problem could be if he pack PuP because you basically gotta sack something and revenge it with Exca, Azu is a problem for every single team that dont pack Amoongus / Venusaur so you gotta play around it after read the rmt and nedor's post i think i could give you some suggestion that might help u a bit too:
  • The first one is Will-o-Wisp > Taunt/Encore on Gardevoir this change help u to lure Scizor because is the ultimate switch in to Garde, so you predict it once and is no longer a threat, Gardevoir + SD exca dominates stall by themself so i dont think taunt is that helpfull in this case.
  • And the last Hidden Power Electric > HP Bug Keldeo the reason why i think this is a good idea is because as you mentioned before you dont have too much for Azu, so BD Azu + pursuit user completely 6-0 your team, this also help if for some reason you lose thundy and the opponent had a mega gyarados too, yes celebi is hard to beat with your team but SD exca + garde should do the work and isnt than neccessary to lure it.
  • Having Nasty Plot thundy i think a better spread would be 176 SpA / 252 Speed / rest Defense this allow you to have a nice chance to live an ice shard after rocks coming from weavile also a LO sucker from bisharp
I think i can only help with that man, the sinergy/mons selection are good overall so gl man!

It's hard to find a balance when trying to fit enough pokemon to have a strong offensive presence, as well as decent defensive footing. This team doesn't have enough to stop a few key pokemon; like Keldeo for example, and the only way to beat them would be to revenge kill them. Your opponent can and will switch out, effectively playing your weaknesses and subsequently forcing you to overcompensate for your lack of synergy.

Swapping Thundurus for Amoonguss helps the team on defense. Amoonguss will even your matchup with mon's like Keldeo, Azumarill, Breloom, Manaphy, and Serperior (to name a few). This relieves some pressure off of Latias to check them and leaves you less liable to prediction. Consider using Hidden Power [Fire] on Amoonguss to prevent Ferrothorn from using free turns to set up hazards. Clear Smog is great in the last slot as well because it prevents mon's from using Amoonguss as bait. It's up to you though. Mega Gardevoir is a strong pokemon, but it isn't particularly overwhelming in oras because of the shift in speed tiers, thus making it easily revenge killed. The Amoonguss suggestion leaves the team open to Talonflame, Pinsir, Tornadus-T, so consider swapping Gardevoir for Mega Diancie. Mega Diancie fits the team better, it can take on flying types that threaten the team, nuke things mid game with its strong attacks, or/and it can also augment its speed to sweep late games. Also consider using an Air Balloon w/ an adamant nature on Excadrill to compensate for the loss of a ground immunity. I also don't see why you would need Hidden Power [Electric] on Keldeo with Amoonguss and Latias, think about changing it to [Flying] or Icy Wind.
