Roaring Moon @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Substitute

Throughout the generation, the terrifying Dragon Dance Roaring Moon has always been synonymous with Tera Flying and Acrobatics. However, with recent innovations from OLT XI, it has branched out with running Tera Ground and Earthquake instead. Unlike the Acrobatics variant that still requires a coverage move to deal with the omnipresent Kingambit, the near-perfect coverage that Dark and Ground provide means Roaring Moon can more easily afford to run a utility move instead. In this case, Substitute lets it take advantage of defensive stalwarts like Alomomola, Garganacl, and Tera Steel Sinistcha; avoid status from Gliscor and Clefable; and dodge Kingambit's Sucker Punch post-Tera. Moreover, going for Tera Ground over Tera Flying lets Roaring Moon muscle past walls like Curse Garganacl and an otherwise solid check in Sticky Barb Clefable more easily, since Earthquake avoids the Sticky Barb transfer, while preventing Roaring Moon from being revenge killed by Raging Bolt. Since this Roaring Moon set has a harder time against Landorus-T, Great Tusk, and Zamazenta, it's paramount to pair the ancient dragon with multiple explosive physical attackers like Gouging Fire and Kingambit to overwhelm them early-game.

Throughout the generation, the terrifying Dragon Dance Roaring Moon has always been synonymous with Tera Flying + Acrobatics. However, with recent innovations from OLT XI, it has branched out with running Tera Ground + Earthquake instead. Unlike the Acrobatics variant that still requires a coverage move to deal with the omnipresent Kingambit, the near-perfect coverage that Dark + Ground provides means Roaring Moon can afford to run a utility move instead Tera Fly can and often does still run Taunt, change the wording to avoid implying that it cant, just that its a bigger sacrifice. Just adding "more easily" before afford is prob fine.. In this case, Substitute lets it take advantage of defensive stalwarts like Alomomola, Garganacl, and Tera Steel Sinistcha; avoid status from Gliscor and Clefable; and dodge Kingambit's Sucker Punch post-Tera. Moreover, the choice for Tera Ground over Tera Flying lets Roaring Moon muscle past walls like Curse Garganacl and Sticky Barb Clefable more easily—the latter in particular is usually tasked to limit the Acrobatics variant id mention specifically that earthquake doesn't transfer the barb—while preventing Roaring Moon from being revenge killed by Raging Bolt. Since this Roaring Moon set has a harder time against Landorus-T, Great Tusk, and Zamazenta, it's paramount to pair the ancient dragon with multiple explosive physical attackers like Gouging Fire and Kingambit to overwhelm them early-game.
