Hello all! With the terrastalization suspect tests coming soon, I wanted to make a team that could counter all of the common teams on ladder. Since Hyper Offense was so prevalent, I decided to make a stall team to be able to counter all of the common teams on ladder, mainly glimmora or grimmsnarl teams.
Here's the team: https://pokepast.es/96e12777983233c4
Roaring Moon @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 152 SpD / 104 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Roost
Roaring moon is truly the most consistent answer to Chi-yu in this meta, surviving 3 flamethrowers and almost 1 shotting it back with earthquake. Although other pokemon, like Ting-Lu also can counter Chi-yu, Roaring moon was set apart by access to roost, a form of reliable recovery. Roaring moon also bring a bunch of notable resistances, namely, ghost. It can wall gholdengo(Depending on the set), armourage, ceruledge, iron moth, skeledirge, and more. I will admit that against some teams it can be dead weight, but it is just a consistently strong mon overall, even if it doesn't clearly wall something. Speed Evs are to outspeed max speed timid Chi-yu.
Blissey @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Shadow Ball
- Stealth Rock
Can't have stall without blissey! The de-facto special wall of our team, blissey picks up the slack where roaring moon can't. There isn't much special about this blissey, aside from maybe shadow ball, which is 100% neccessary because of gholdengo. Tera ghost is to tank any fighting moves in a pinch, and the rest of the moveset is completely standard.
Dondozo @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Liquidation
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
- Curse
I haven't been able to build a team without this guy yet, he's too strong! Dondozo is the main physical wall of our team, and he's definitely the MVP. With leftovers and RestTalk, he's a reliable force that can annoy the opponent throughout the game. He is also the "Wincon" of the team; if all of the special attackers are dealt with by blissey and roaring moon, he can clean up a game by just clicking curse. He also counter any non-taunt anihilape, so to beat anihilape, you should send in dondozo, start cursing, and see if he has taunt, and if he does, switch to amoongus. Tera dark is super important because of espathra, as fighting tera blast doesn't doo too much damage since most espathra are running 0 special attack.
Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Clear Smog
- Spore
- Giga drain
- Foul Play
Amoongus was an obvious pick for the team, since we were weak to iron valian, meowscarada, and the likes, and we didn't have a regenerator pokemon. This set also counter taunt anihilape, because with tera normal and clear smog you should win the 1v1 as long as amoongus is healthy, by clicking clear smog when they bulk up and using spore and rocky helmet to slowly chip it down. Sludge Bomb and foul play are nice for chip, and regenerator of course is an amazing ability.
Hatterene @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nuzzle
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Healing Wish
Hatterene is an insane utility mon against glimmora/other hazards stackers. It's typing is also a huge boon, because the 4x resist to fighting is spectacular considering that roaring moon and blissey are both weak to fighting. Nuzzle is obvious for paralysis, and I uses psychic > psyshock because of great tusk. This set is specially defensive because some glimmoras are running sludge bomb, and I didn't want hatterene to lose to any glimmora set.
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- U-turn
- Body Press
Finally, corvinknight! We needed a steel type, as well as a defogger, and right now, the options are very limited. Another standard set, with tera ground being the only unique thing, this is for electric types like Iron hands in a pinch, since we didn't have a ground type. Roost is for recovery, u-turn is for pivoting, and body press hits hard againt chien-pao, chi-yu, and roaring moon.
Threats:
This team: https://pokepast.es/b7c816f1f73cb2bf
This team is very common on ladder, and the combination of such strong attackers with hatterene can be devestating. You have to tera normal amoongus, and make sure that you don't spore hatterene, as it will reflect it back to you, mainly you should just click clear smog against anihilape and espathra so they do not snowball against your team.
Sun:
Specs Chi-yu and scovillan hit very hard, this matchup is one where you just can't make mistakes, it's not as bad as the matchup above, but still something to be wary of.
