Greetings, I was trying to get one of my old rivals back into the game! However, it has been nearly 10 years since he has played. With the meta changing dramatically since DPP release, I'd like some input when revisiting his old team. He only plays Pokemon he finds "cool" so just toss out any updates you'd like to see and we can go from there!
Torterra (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
- Stealth Rock
He originally chose Torterra back in the day, due to the main fact it was his starter Pokemon.
The EV spread is to try and make up for Tortera's subpar speed. And maximizing his damage output as well.
Rock Polish is to boost his base speed stat, so that we can put speed scarf Heatran and other threats.
Earthquake was chosen as a main STAB, and possible catch Heatran if switched in.
Wood Hammer is the Grass STAB. With Life Orb we can blast through Gyarados and hit some other threats for decent damage.
Stealth Rock was chosen, because the team greatly benefits from entry hazards. Return could be used in place, but his team needs some help with entry hazards.
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
Gyarados is one of his favorite Pokemon, so it was auto selected.
EV spread helps with some bulky offense.
Dragon Dance is used primarily on the forced switch. Getting a few DDance can be great for sweeping potential.
Taunt is to shut down Skarmory or other sweepers.
Waterfall is the main STAB. Due to the 30% to flinch the opponent.
Stone Edge to cover Zapdos if he is switched in after a DDance.
Dusknoir (M) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Shadow Sneak
Dusknoir was chosen as he thought he looked cool.
EV spread is to take advantage of his large health pool.
EQ is chosen to kill Heatran.
TPunch is chosen to take out Gyarados/other water types.
Ice Punch is chosen to cover Flygon and Dragonite.
Shadow Sneak for Rotom- and Gengar.
Alakazam (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Zam was another one of his favorite Pokemon, that's why he was chosen.
EV's are to take advantage of his SpA and Spe
Substitute for scouting out moves and choice holders.
Psychic basic STAB.
Focus Blast to couter Ttar, Heatran, and Jirachi.
Hidden Power Fire for Magnezone, Skarmory, Scizor, and Jirachi.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
Scizor was chosen for his appearance, and successor to Scyther.
EV spread to take advantage of Choice Band and Technician.
U turn for scouting and hitting Ttar super effectively.
Bullet Punch obvious STAB
Superpower kills Heatran, and Ttar. As well as does good damage to Jirachi.
Pursuit to trap rotom- and Gengar
Flygon (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Roost
Flygon was chosen since Garchomp was banned.
EV spread to maximize speed and SpA.
Draco Meteor is chosen as a high damage move and OHKO Latias, Dragonite, Flygon.
EQ is for Metagross, Heatran, Jirachi.
Fire Blast for Breloom, Magnezone, Jirachi, Skarmory.
Roost to restore health.
Again, open to changing Pokemon out, just trying to update this team and keep some of the core typing/favorites in if viable.
