SM OU RMT Aurora Veil team (ELO 1400+)

Hey guys I've been experimenting with a lot of teams lately and I've had the most with this one so far. It consists of an aurora veil lead with hypnosis, 2 set-up sweepers, 2 walls, and of course, a Lando-T.

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay (lead)
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hypnosis
- Hail

Alolan Ninetails usually almost always leads the team out. I usually start with aurora veil to lessen the damage my team takes which allows my other 2 set-up sweepers to set-up. Hypnosis is fantastic when it lands as it gives me even more time for my set-up sweepers to get going. Its high speed-tier allows it to set-up aurora veil before anything else which helps Ninetails tank some starting hits from other leads. It does well against most leads except for ferrothorn with gyro ball which 1-hko's it even with aurora veil set-up so I either have the option to aurora veil and sacrifice Ninetails or test my luck and hypnosis ferro.

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf (pivot)
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 244 Atk / 68 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Explosion

Lando-T is the pivot of the team thanks to intimidate and good typing. I put a choice scarf on it so it can out-speed various speed threats that the team can't handle since no mon in the team has a priority move and only relies on setting-up to get high speed. Earthquake and stone edge are really good coverage moves and U-turn emphasis its role in a pivot mon. Explosion is my panic button and with Lando-T's high attack stat it kills almost any mon in one hit.

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers (wall)
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Nature's Madness
- Moonblast
- Defog

Tapu Fini is a really good wall due to its great typing and balanced defense and sp.def stats. Taunt helps me take care of status and hazard users and defog takes care of rocks and spikes (but i need to use it sparingly since it also removes aurora veil). Nature's madness weaks the tankiest of mons and moonblast is overall just a great coverage move. I usually switch in to Fini to wall attacks that Ferro can't.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers (wall)
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball

Ferrothorn is such an amazing wall. I not only use it to wall attacks but also to scout enemy moves. Gyro ball and power whip ensure that Ferrothorn isn't just a bullet sponge but can dish out great damage too. Leech seed and stealth rock just frustrate any mon that switches in from ferrothorn. Ferrothorn and fini have such great type coverage and work really well together.

Volcarona @ Buginium Z (set-up sweeper)
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Bug Buzz
- Roost

Volcarona is sucha beast when it gets its quiver dances up. This set is a bulky bugnium-z set. I usually switch in volcarona when I see a mon that can't really dent volcarona so I can start to set-up at least one quiver dance and get going. Its only really effective mid to late game when there are no stealth rocks and toxapex because I swear toxapex is like the bane of this mon's existence. It deals well against heatran is quiver dance allows it to be really bulky against heatrans attacks and roost ensures volcarona lives.

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite (set-up sweeper)
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Mega-Tyranitar is my favorite mon of the team for two reasons. 1 being its bulk and 2 being its really high attack stat. Since sandstorm gets Ttar's Sp.Def to 400+ it can tank so many hits and once tyranitar sets-up its dragon dances it is almost unplayable. Stone edge, Ice punch and earthquake deal so much damage to any mon. It faces problems though with unaware Clefable and eviolite Chansey.

I would be open to suggestions on how to improve this team ! Its really fun to use and I hope it can be even better :)

Hi sevston, this look like a really cool team and while i like the idea, i think it can get improved.

~~ Initial thoughts ~~

First off i gotta say that you mixed some concepts, when i first opened your rmt i was expecting to see some screens HO but the more i was reading, i was getting even more confused. You somehow made a BO screens, i didn't get what your main idea was when you were creating the team, but i'm going to guess that it was HO (let me know if it was otherwise and i'll do another rate).

~~ Minor Changes ~~

645-s.png
Landorus-T
. I recommend to switch lando from scarf into a fast sash suicide lead. Landorus usually doesn't fit in HO teams if it's not double dance, scarf is usually used on balance or BO teams in order to pivot around but here you want to just take rocks up, die and let the process begin.

Volcarona. From roost to psychic and make volc Psychium Z. You were blaming on the toxapex mu... so fixed problem. Psychium Z always OHKO pex at +1 which allows volc to usually sweep from that point. Another reason for this change is that roost only serves to make you lose veil turns .

~~ Major Changes ~~

Ferrothorn
>
786.png
Tapu Lele
. Ferrothorn makes no sense on a team that is supposed to be this "offensive". Tapu Lele behind screens is just a monster and one of the biggest threats on the metagame since thanks to the inmense base power + CM can break throught almost any mon.

788.png
Tapu Fini >
612.png
Haxorus
. This might be looked as a weird pick, but i think haxorus in this specific team perform really well since with mold breaker + veil it can sweep entire teams. Also to mention that fini is pretty weird and has no use behind screens.

~~ The team ~~

I hope you enjoy the team and feel free to make any questions about it.:psyglad:

Hi, I don't think this build is well made with veil in mind. But I think we can do a different route from making it a veil offense (found above) and remove the veil instead do more a balancy or bulky offense type build.

Threats:
1547785666235.png
Mawile: Both the All out attacker and Sword dane variants can destroy you. The AoA version has coverage to hit everything on this team hard with no real way to pivot around, especially if spikes go up. The SD sets get a setup opportunity. Volc is the only true “measure” which involves sucker 50 50s.

1547785938456.png
Magearna: Shift gear varients can absolutley destroy this team depending on the set. If focus blast+tbolt+flash cannon is the the set or even fleurblast dual, then it absolutely destroys you. Calm mind pain split is also a very tough matchup and requires Volc healthy at all times.

1547785703108.png
Charizard Y: It can come in on Ferrothorn as long as rocks aren’t up or on leech as well as coming in vs Fini and can proceed to kill something. There’s no real pivot here, you just kinda die. You have to stone edge it with Lando.

1547785976972.png
Excadrill: z sd sets in sand are insanely scary and require you to pivot perfectly to not be 6-0d once it sets up an sd. You have to keep Ninetales healthy while also making perfect pivots if Ninetales goes down to eventually revenge kill it with Lando.

1547785833552.png
Protean Greninja: It’s coverage, specifically from the physical protean z fight set can demolish this team. The only faster mon is scarf Lando and you can qd with Volc and hope gunk shot doesn’t poison.

1547786074215.png
Kyurem Black: the LO set pounds everything on this team if it’s hp fire. Z ice sets also have an easy time taking kills as Lando is the only faster mon once again.

1547786406971.png
Pinsir: If Tyranitar gets chipped for about 15%, +2 earthquake kills it. And close combat ohkos it straight up. You gotta use Lando to revenge kill with stone edge and it can die to quick attack.

1547785771348.png
Rotom-W: It can get so much momentum off this team so easily with volt switch and can even burn pivots like Ferrothorn if the terrain is down. Lando can’t even come to block it with the threat of pump, wisp, and the fact Lando can’t even do much to Rotom.

1547786122295.png
Tornadus-T: This team lets Tornadus get momentum so easily with u turn. It also can’t be chipped by rocks as much due to regenerator. Lando can’t even kill in one shot with stone edge if Torn is helmet. Torn can proceed to spam knock off (specifically on the Fini), hurricane, and u turn around very freely. It even defogs away hazards. The z move sets also take a life.

1547786715367.png
Garchomp: z move sets absolutley nuke this team. It can set up rocks, sd up, click z to obtain a kill, and do even bigger damage due to the lack of quicker ways to revenge kill.

1547786649360.png
Toxapex: Isn’t killed in one shot by anything on this team (Lando does 85 with EQ if max hp no def) while it can proceed to spam toxic (spikes), recover, and scald.

Major Changes:

1547785737805.png
Ninetales—>
1547785858281.png
Gliscor
This will bring a way to dispatch Mawile, Toxapex, some Magearna, and Tapu Koko. The SD set will also your matchup vs stall. It also benefits from Tyranitar’s sandstorm chipping switch ins as well as pursuit trapping things like Latis which plays a big role in Gliscor breaking.

1547786768546.png
Landorus—>
1547786794268.png
Kartana
This will bring a much faster scarfer and with Gliscor being the ground type, Lando is less needed. Kartana helps a lot with speed control and outspeeds many pokemon that boost speed and other scarfers in general at the moment. It even acts as a defogger in the back for Volcarona’s support.

1547786832799.png
Ferrothorn—>
1547786855441.png
Celesteela
This change will make your team much less vulnerable vs things like mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele as you now have a safe swich in for them. It can also act as a good Tornadus/Kartana check and is able to wear the opposing team down with leech seed.

Minor Changes:
1547785798165.png
Mega Tyranitar: I would make the Tyranitar a bulky stealth rock setter as this not only gives you rocks but a great way to trap things like Latis for Gliscor and Kartana. It also gives a secondary Heatran pivot. It can help vs Reunicles as well.
