RMT - A team based around a TrapPassing Umbreon

Time to get some help for this team here :) , I've been getting help everywhere lately but here seems to be the best for strategy...

Graphix the Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
Nature: Hasty
IVs: 1 HP / 13 Attack / 15 Defense / 3 Special Attack / 28 Special Defense / 26 Speed
EVs: 6 HP, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Tri-Attack
-Dark Pulse

I evolved it BEFORE I started playing competetive... So I'm out of Dubious discs, but it's high Base Special Attack will have to make it work until I can get my hands on another one... This is the basic Special Sweeper set for it as you may know... and for the third time, this pokemon is there to hit stuff... Choice Scarf to make up for its bad Base Speed and max itself above 400, all of the moves get nice coverage...

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
Nature: Impish
IVs: 24 HP / 6 Attack / 31 Defense / 19 Special Attack / 31 Special Defense / 31 Speed
EVs: 252 HP, 128 Special Defense, 130 Defense
-Baton Pass
-Assurance
-Mean Look
-Wish

The centrepiece of my strategy, Mean Look, then Pass to a counter... I believe this is referred to as "TrapPassing"... Wish is there for the obvious healing, not much else to say as this is a straightforward set... The EVs make both of its defenses about equal... Although, this seems a bit TOO predictable, so I have Assurance to score some damage if Taunt should appear...

Swampert @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
Nature: Brave
EVs: 240 HP, 180 Defense, 190 Special Defense
-EarthQuake
-Avalanche
-Curse
-Rest

A CursePert, used for its possible tanking power and to counter the big Tyranitar weakness this team apparently has... Just spams Curse while healing with Rest and hittine with either of its two attacking moves... That's its job in full...

Gliscor @ Leftovers
Trait: Hyper Cutter / Sand Veil
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP, 4 Attack, 252 Defense
-Aerial Ace
-Knock Off
-Roost
-Earthquake

Straightforward Gliscor, takes some physical hits and hits back hard with the strength of its moves... It will simply use Roost when running low on HP and switch in the event of a Special Attacker...

Blazer the Infernape @ Life Orb
Trait: Blaze
Nature: Naughty
IVs: 0 HP / 25 Attack / 16 Defense / 22 Special Attack / 25 Special Defense / 26 Speed
EVs: 129 Attack, 129 Special Attack, 252 Speed
-ThunderPunch
-Close Combat
-Flamethrower
-Grass Knot

All-Out Mixed Sweeper Infernape... I couldn't get an Ice Hidden Power that was stronger than 45... so this will have to do... It's there for the hits it will dish out... you may have noticed that it has both ThunderPunch and Grass Knot, that's so ThunderPunch can get a nice hit on the lighter of the water types and most flying types will feel the pain too, obviously that makes Grass Knot's sole purpose for hitting the generic heavier pokemon that don't resist it... Vaporeon is no longer a safe wall against it...

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Special Defense, 6 Defense
-Nasty Plot
-Air Slash
-Roost
-Thunder Wave

Paraflinch FTW!!! The most common set for a Togekiss... Just to catch my opponent off-guard when they think they've figured out my battle plan... It's the only Pokemon that won't be Baton Passed in as it counteracts its moveset and it has decent defenses to begin with... So basically I put up a Nasty Plot and I sweep with Paraflinch...

I sorta need help fixing the strategy behind the team... normally I'm awesome at that kind of stuff, but I'm having Strategists Block if you get what I mean...

This team has now had a few changes... It looks pretty balanced in the way of stats and movesets... But that's up to all of you to decide... I'll just watch aand fix them to match the team well... I'm now thinking of possibly changing the team so it won't rely on Umbreon to safely switch in half of the team...

I will edit in my rate.

Alright I have to be honest here. I have never seen a team so utterly destroyed by Tyraniboah. As a Lead he will simply Sub+Focus Punch to kill Umbreon, Porygon z, and infernape. Ice Beam will then procede to ohko flygon and kill togekiss who wont get through his subs with air slash. Finally Dark Pulse will most likely ohko starmie.

I have to say, as much as I love flygon you need to replace him for something better as he isnt doing much right now. Since Boah is such a problem, I suggest CurseRest Swampert who actually can work rather well with Umbreons Trap Passing. Simply Curse and Rest while Tar does almost no damage. Then begin to sweep.

Earthquake/Curse/Rest/Avalanche is the basic set.

Now umbreon himself can be switched up as a lead. Too many things beat it (gyarados, gengar, bronzong). I would lead with poryon z. Scarf will allow it to outpace and ohko gengar, gyarados, salamence, ect. Definitely helpful to you. I would also consider HP Fighting over Tri Attack. You can actually really hurt Tar and Magnezone. As good as tri attack is, without adaptibility you dont need it.

The sets look decent otherwise although I really recommend Nasty Plot over ThunderPunch on Infernape. Porygon Z will already kill gyarados and starmie leads, and Nasty Plot Grass Knot ohkos gyarados anyway. Swampert also could deal with them although it wont be easy.
One last bit of advice, I suggest giving Umbreon Payback over Toxic, or at least taunt. You dont want him being beaten by other taunters. I would use payback but that is your choice.

OOPS! I'll try :) I was never the best at describing... *will edit when done* I've edited it, do I need even more detail added?

and in response to the rate you gave:

...I thought Infernape would be able to handle Tyranitar, but I guess I was wrong...

...hmm... I'll look into getting a Swampert...

I guess I'll move Porygon up front... I thought Umbreon would be the smartest idea since I could TrapPass right away... I had a feeling Assuance / Payback on Umbreon was a good idea... my idea was just discouraged in other places... I'll try to figure that one out... and, like Porygon-Z IVs, its Hidden Power will have to wait until I can get another Dubious Disc...

I thought Infernape was too fragile for Nasty Plot so I just trained it without a second thought -__- looks like I have more Chimchar breeding to do...

well, thanks for heping :)

When people see Umbreon they expect it to be a TrapPasser as Umbreon can't do much else outside of that. There are several ways to beat it, by outmuscling it with something like CB Heracross Close Combat/Megahorn, Taunt, or Haze. If CB Heracross comes in you can't stop him from putting a huge dent into someone on your team. If a Taunt/DD/Crunch/Equake Tyranitar decides to come in it will Taunt your attempted Baton Pass, Dragon Dance on your switch, and sweep your team.

You lack general defense against some of the most common sweepers in the metagame - Heracross, Tyranitar, Lucario, Gengar, Garchomp, etc. I would try to add SOME kind of physical wall to stop some of those common threats. Gliscor covers Heracross/TTar/Lucario/Garchomp pretty effectively and would help your team out a lot.

Thanks, another good rate! =D

...OK, I was going to put in a Gliscor originally but I thought Gliscor and Flygon at the same time would cause Ice issues... but since I'm now replacing the Flygon, Gliscor's not a bad idea... I'll just have to find space for it, it will probably replace Starmie since it's doing the least out of what will be leftover...

Maybe I should just wait a bit and edit after I get some more rates...

EDIT: since nobody posted in over an hour, I just edited those 2 rates in, thanks again you two. =P Let's see what everyone thinks now...
