Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Name: All-out-Attacker
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Smack Down / Stone Edge
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch / Megahorn
[SET COMMENTS]
With its colorful coverage and high Attack, Rhyperior is a strong physical attacker on Rock teams. Furthermore, its high HP and Defense stats coupled with a great defensive ability in Solid Rock give it massive survivability, letting it take incredibly strong hits from attackers like Chien-Pao and Iron Hands. Smack Down synergizes well with Earthquake, removing the Ground immunity from Flying-types like Corviknight, Skarmory, and Zapdos so that they can be hit by Earthquake. Alternatively, Stone Edge packs higher power which allows Rhyperior to OHKO Ogerpon-H. However, Smack Down is preferred due to its utility and better consistency compared to Stone Edge. Fire Punch targets Steel-types that are not threatened by Earthquake, such as Scizor. Ice Punch threatens Dragon- and Ground-types such as Dragonite, Garchomp, and Landorus-T. Megahorn can also be used to possibly OHKO Ogerpon-W. However, Ice Punch is preferred since it threatens common checks to many Rock-types.
Glimmora makes for a great partner for Rhyperior, as it sets up an array of entry hazards including Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes, as well as removing them with Mortal Spin. It also threatens Grass-types such as Meowscarada and Hydrapple for Rhyperior. Kleavor also sets up Stealth Rock with Stone Axe, and it doubles as a great physical attacker that threatens Latios, Hoopa-U, Air Balloon Heatran, and Greninja and a pivot with U-turn. In return, Kleavor appreciates Rhyperior taking on checks to it, like Kingambit and Choice Scarf Hisuian Arcanine. Tyranitar is another option for a Stealth Rock user, and it also sets up sandstorm to raise Rhyperior's poor Special Defense stat, letting it take attacks like Gholdengo's Make It Rain, Landorus's Earth Power, and Choice Specs Flutter Mane's Moonblast from full HP. Specially defensive Garganacl takes pressure off of Rhyperior by helping it against Water- and Steel-types like Primarina, Empoleon, and Heatran by wearing them down with Salt Cure and removing said Steel-types with Iron Defense + Body Press. Ogerpon-C handles Water- and Ground-types like Primarina, Keldeo, Swampert, and Landorus, and it appreciates Rhyperior dealing with Fighting- and Poison-types like Iron Hands, Sneasler, and Okidogi in return. Choice Scarf Iron Boulder outspeeds and threatens Pokemon Rhyperior hates, such as Greninja, Iron Valiant, and Choice Specs Kyurem. In return, Rhyperior takes on Dark- and Steel-types types such as Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Excadrill. Hisuian Arcanine is another great teammate, as its Fire typing allows it to threaten Grass- and Steel-types such as Amoonguss, Meowscarada, and Corviknight, and it also picks off weakened sweepers like Iron Valiant and Azumarill with Extreme Speed. It appreciates Rhyperior taking out Ground-types like Excadrill and Gliscor in return. Choice Band Terrakion is a great early-game wallbreaker, as it threatens the likes of Garganacl, Archaludon, Corviknight, and Skarmory with Close Combat; in addition, its access to Upper Hand allows it to punish priority moves from threats like Breloom and Hisuian Samurott. Lastly, Shell Smash Minior appreciates Rhyperior taking out threats like Kingambit, Chien-Pao, and Scizor so it can sweep late-game.
