Thanks to its seven eyes, Registeel is able to stare down just about any threat in the current metagame. With the combination of Iron Defense and Amnesia, Registeel is capable of boosting its defenses to such heights that even some of the strongest moves in the format can barely scratch it. Additionally, Body Press is extremely potent when combined with Registeel's naturally high Defense and Iron Defense, allowing it to not only improve its already stellar defenses but also dish out good damage to even Pokemon that resist it, notably 3HKOing common Zapdos variants at +2. Heavy Slam is an alternative option that punishes Minimize Chansey hard, as well as threatening a 2HKO on Scope Lens Togekiss. Leftovers is the ideal item for Registeel as its longevity and desire to stay on the field allow for the most recovery. Registeel's EVs offer it very balanced stats that make it equally resilient against both physical and special attacks. Registeel really appreciates Blastoise, Grimmsnarl, and Rillaboom as partners, as they clear out some of its few weaknesses in Landorus-T, Urshifu-S, and Urshifu-R.
