Draft Registeel (DONE)

AceTrainerOrange

formerly orangelego21
[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 7 onward

**Price Range**: 4-5 points

**Overview**: Stealth Rock, Body Press, and speed control in Thunder Wave are all serviceable traits that let Registeel provide some budget utility options. Registeel can take most neutral hits with naturally high Defense and Special Defense alongside fantastic resistances to Flying, Dragon, and Fairy. However, Registeel's lack of pivoting, recovery, and consistent offensive pressure holds it back.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wall**: Registeel can swap in, sponge an attack, and set Stealth Rock or use Thunder Wave to provide support.

**Setup Sweeper**: Iron Defense or Curse alongside Body Press can turn Registeel into a potential wincon, although this can be difficult with only Rest as a recovery option.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Heavy Slam, Iron Head, Flash Cannon

**Setup Moves**: Curse, Iron Defense

**Utility Moves**: Rest, Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Brick Break

**Coverage**: Body Press, Earthquake, Ice Spinner, Shadow Claw, Rock Slide, Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast

Niche Moves
========
**Explosion / Steel Beam**: Registeel can create momentum for its teammates and fire off one last hit before going down.

**Amnesia**: Amnesia can be used in some matchups if Registeel only needs Body Press for an attacking move on sweeping sets.

**Sleep Talk**: Sleep Talk can be used with Rest on sweeping sets to allow Registeel to become less passive when asleep.

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Registeel can munch on Leftovers as one of its only forms of recovery if it intends on sticking around a while.

**Sitrus Berry**: Sitrus Berry helps Registeel gain more immediate recovery throughout a game.

**Resistance Berries**: The Chople, Shuca, and Occa Berries can all be used to let Registeel lure in offensive threats and bait them into attempting to KO it, only to be punished by an attack or Thunder Wave.

Niche Items
========
**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can increase Registeel's damage output after taking a super effective hit to surprise and possibly KO unsuspecting foes.

**Eject Button**: As Registeel's only pivoting option, this allows Registeel to swap in on an attack and swap back out to let a frail teammate in safely.

**Red Card**: Registeel can hold a Red Card to take a hit from boosted Pokemon and force them out in a pinch.

**Chesto Berry**: Chesto Berry can be used alongside Rest to grant Registeel a more proactive recovery option.

**Rocky Helmet**: Registeel can punish contact moves with chip damage from Rocky Helmet.

Tera
========
Registeel doesn't Terastallize very often, as its original Steel typing is often enough to make it serviceable. However, if Registeel is selected as a Tera Captain, defensive options such as Tera Water and Fairy can aid Registeel's walling prowess. Tera Fighting can also be used to boost the damage output of Body Press.

Draft Strategy
========
Registeel is drafted as a supportive, utility-based defensive option for teams that require answers to strong Fairy-, Flying-, Psychic-, or Poison-type Pokemon.

**Wallbreakers**: Registeel appreciates partners that can create progress with strong attacks, such as Great Tusk, Iron Bundle, and Iron Valiant.

**Bulky pivots**: Pokemon such as Tornadus-T, Alomomola, and Galarian Slowking can form a defensive core with Registeel while taking hits.

Checks and Counters
========
**Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-type Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Great Tusk, Iron Hands, and Gouging Fire can outright break through Registeel with strong super effective attacks.

**Disruption**: Taunt, Encore, and using Trick with a Choice item, often from Pokemon such as Meowscarada, Tinkaton, and Gholdengo, can cripple Registeel's longevity.

**Setup Sweepers**: Pokemon that can avoid Thunder Wave via Substitute or Lum Berry, such as Keldeo, Palafin, and Iron Hands, can use Registeel to create setup opportunities to wallbreak or clean games.

**Chip Damage**: Registeel is prone to being worn down over time, and with unreliable recovery options, it can be taken down through repeated hits and entry hazards.

QC 1/2

[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 7 onward

**Price Range**: 4-5 points

**Overview**: Registeel’s defensive stats and utility options may look impressive at a glance. Access to Stealth Rock and speed control in Thunder Wave can make Registeel look attractive; However, Registeel’s lack of pivoting, recovery, and lack of consistent offensive pressure hold it back from ironclad glory.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wall**: Registeel can sponge hits and respond with utility or an attack.
specifically mention setting hazards/spreading para here as well instead of saying utility - its a bit vague which is not needed considering this section is so short

**Set-Up Sweeper**: Iron Defense /or Curse and Body Press can turn Registeel into a potential win condition.
mention rest as only recovery again and how it makes it difficult to work well as a bulky sweeper
I know its Registeel and theres not much to say here but these sections should have a bit more info

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Heavy Slam, Iron Head, Flash Cannon

**Setup Moves**: Curse, Iron Defense

**Utility Moves**: Rest, Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, Brick Break, Sleep Talk

**Coverage**: Body Press, Earthquake, Ice Spinner, Shadow Claw, Rock Slide, Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast
it has the same spatk and atk so special moves are solid on it especially after losing stoss - sleep talk might be niche up to you on that

Niche Moves
========
**Explosion**: Registeel can create momentum for its teammates and fire off one last hit before going down.

**Amnesia**: Amnesia can be used in some matchups if Registeel only needs Body Press for an attacking move on sweeping sets.

**Gravity**: Gravity can be used to the benefit of teammates such as Landorus-I to hit opposing Levitating or Flying-type pokemon.Registeel can also use an accurate Zap Cannon to snipe pokemon like Primarina and Moltres.
a bit too niche

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Registeel can munch on Leftovers as one its only forms of recovery if it intends on sticking around a while.

**Sitrus Berry**: Sitrus Berry helps Registeel gain more immediate recovery throughout a game.

**Resistance Berries**: Chople, Shuca, and Occa Berry can all be used to lure in offensive threats and bait them into seeing a KO on Registeel, only to be punished by an attack or Thunder Wave.

Niche Items
========
**Weakness Policy**: Weakness Policy can increase Registeel’s damage output after baiting a super-effective hit.

**Eject Button**: As Registeel’s only pivoting option, this allows Registeel to swap in on an attack and swap back out to let a frail teammate in safely.

**Red Card**: Registeel can hold a Red Card to take a hit from boosting pokemon and force them out in a pinch.

**Chesto Berry**: Chesto Berry can be used alongside Rest to grant Registeel more freedom in its recovery options.

Tera
========
Registeel doesn’t utilize Tera very often, as its original Steel typing is often enough to make it serviceable. However, if Registeel is selected as a Tera Captain, other defensive options such as Water or Fairy can aid Registeel’s walling prowess. Fighting can also be used to boost the damage output of Body Press.

**Wallbreakers**: Registeel appreciates partners that can create progress with strong attacks, such as Great Tusk, Iron Bundle, Iron Valiant.

**Bulky pivots**: Pokemon such as Tornadus-T and Galiarian Slowking can form a defensive core with Registeel while taking hits.

Checks and Counters
========
**Fire-, Ground-, and Fighting-type Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Great Tusk, Iron Hands, and Gouging Fire can outright break through Registeel with strong super-effective attacks.

**Disruption**: Taunt, Encore, and using Trick with a Choice item, often from pokemon such as Meowscarada, Tinkaton, and Gholdengo can cripple Registeel’s longevity.

**Set-up Sweepers**: Pokemon that do not fear Thunder Wave and/or can survive Registeel’s attacks can use Registeel to create set-up opportunities to break or clean games, such as Pecharunt, Gliscor, and Garchomp.
might want to add chip damage here considering unreliability of its recovery

(different examples would be better here- pecharunt isnt a good sweeper and garchomp doesnt want to eat an ice spinner. could also say pokemon that tank its attacks can substitute on its twave and set up from there)

**Chip Damage**: Registeel is prone to being worn down over time, and with unreliable recovery options, it can be taken down through repeated hits and entry hazards.
