VGC Reg G: Zacian + Copestar

Pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/5682f6c044dadc8e

Hello there, Smogon fellows! Currently crafting a team for my very first tournament, and I wanted to run a gimmick, so my thoughts went to Flamigo.

So, here we are now. My current efforts into making a Flamigo team work, in the era that has Miraidon and Calyrex-I.

zacian-crowned.gif

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
Level: 50
Tera Type: Stellar
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Behemoth Blade
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Protect

My choice for Restricted Mon. Nothing fancy in terms of moveset, just STAB in Behemoth Blade/Play Rough, and Swords Dance for running through the meta (when it's unresisted) and setting up Flamigo's Costar. My main Miraidon/Koraidon killer. Overall, the best Pokemon on my team.

flamigo.png

Flamigo @ White Herb
Ability: Costar
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 60 Atk / 196 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Wide Guard
- Detect

The star of the show! White Herb for activating Acrobatics, and I decided to move EVs to Defense instead of Attack because the thing should always come in while Zacian or Kingambit have a boost. Wide Guard is good for protecting against things like Heat Wave and Icy Wind. Detect protects against Imprison. Kills Koraidon well, and, with team support, deals with Calyrex-Ice.

kingambit.png

Kingambit @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
Level: 50
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 244 HP / 180 Atk / 84 SpD
Brave Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

Standard Kingambit set. Swords Dance for setting Flamigo up, and Tera-Flying for dodging Ground type moves (aside from Gravity Groudon). Kowtow Cleave deals with any Horses, and Iron Head deals with whatever Fairies may come out.

pelipper.gif

Pelipper @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 4 SpA / 140 SpD / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Tailwind
- Weather Ball
- Wide Guard

My Groudon/Koraidon deterrent. Sets up Rain, disrupts Urshifu with Hurricane, and blocks spread moves with Wide Guard. It also has Tailwind to help the attackers sweep a little. Tera-Ground to stop electric moves like Electro Drift from running through it.

clefairy.gif

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Friend Guard
Level: 50
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 172 SpD / 52 Spe
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Follow Me
- Protect
- Life Dew
- Thunder Wave

Redirector, and general support. Thunder Wave for speed control, Life Dew for healing, and Protect for... protect. Tera-Steel's just a good defensive type to have, so I slapped it on in case I ever need to use my tera on my support pokemon.

rillaboom.gif

Rillaboom @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 244 HP / 116 Atk / 20 Def / 76 SpD / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Grassy Glide
- High Horsepower
- Fake Out

Last and not the least at all, my Miraidon deterrent. Stops Electric Terrain, and has High Horsepower to deal big damage to it. Fake Out is always a good thing to have, and so is Grassy Glide. Tera-Fire to resist Flare Blitzes and Glacial Lances.

Got some suggestions:

1. That Zacian-C pretty much drops to any super-effective attack, running some bulk would be nice, but up to you. I'm also not a big fan of Tera Stellar, especially since it just leaves you weak to Amoonguss, Landorus, Kyogre, etc. I like Tera Grass for this reason, but up to you (water is also an option for Incineroar, Chi-yu, and more).

2. Although I get White Herb to some extent, it just isn't worth it. I think a Focus Sash variant is much more potent, moving the defense EVs into attack. Otherwise looks solid. Also, run Dual Wingbeat over Acrobatics (beats sash ursh)

3. I don't think there really are enough Fairy-types out there to justify Iron Head (Flutter is the only one that really threatens you and drops to Kowtow anyway). Protect is a much better option there. For me, Tera Flying is kind of meh, and Tera Dark would do way better into Ice Rider, but that's a preference thing.

4. I think Ogerpon-W would be much better than having both Pelipper and Clefairy, packing Water-type coverage and redirection in one package. Rain isn't benefiting you enough, Tailwind can be filled by the next slot too.

5. Clefairy should be swapped out for Tornadus, getting Tailwind, Bleakwind Storm, Taunt, etc.

6. Rillaboom looks good.
