RED is a perfect trainer (OU RMT)

Welcome to my 3rd RMT! Do you know who's the best trainer in HG/SS game? (warning, spoil don't read if you don't want), Yeah it's RED. RED is difficult to beat when he's played by IA. I'd an idea, what it could be if RED play versus real players, with advanced stuff. I tried with this optic to build the best RED's team to play competitively on the OU ladder, or cart. Now, look the team. :p

.:RED's team advanced:.

Blastoise @ lumberry
Ability: Torrent
Bold, 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpA
- Surf
- Protect
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic

The lead! Bulky water and rapid spinner make of Blastoise a good anti-lead, it's good versus ground lead such as Gliscor. Generally the first turn I rapid Spin'ed to counter SR lead, after the opponent switch you win a free turn to use Toxic + protect and begin a little stall. Lumberry for alteration statut. If the opponent taunt me, I just surf or switch for an other pokemon, because Blastoise isn't the star of the team...

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Static
Hasty, 152 Atk / 104 SpA / 252 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Grass knot
- Substitute
- Focus punch.

The star of the team, an absolute beast. Who doesn't think that pikachu can OHKO the majority of wall in the game. It cans counter the Skarm/bliss combo too. Use substitute on an opponent wrong switch, and sweep. Light ball multiply x2 his attack and spe.attack. Exemple of what it cans doing:
- OHKO Skarmory with Thunderbolt
- OHKO blissey with focus punch
- OHKO Hippodwon with Grass knot
- OHKO Swamper with Grass knot
- OHKO tyranitar with focus punch, etc...

Charizard @ Choice Specs
Ability: Blaze
Modest, 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- HP Electric
- Air Slash

Charizard got more than 500 sp.atk with choice spec. Just switch-in and sweep. When opponent's heatran/arcanine are KO'ed, you can just spam Fire Blast to deal big damage versus pokemon who doesn't resist fire. HP electric to counter Vaporeon and suicune. Air slash for Heracross or breloom if I'm not sure that my opponent has heatran or not.

Venusaur @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
Bold, 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Grass Knot
- Sludge Bomb

The main staller of the team. In other term it's my defensive physic tank. Accorded with Snorlax, I can endure attacks. Sleep powder force to switch, and with leech seed + leftovers I regain 24% of my HP each turns, it's difficult to kill. Bad luck I can't use stealth rock, because venusaur make many switch for my opponent with leed seed. :'(

Lapras @ leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Careful, 160 HP / 96 Atk / 252 SpD
- Waterfall
- Return
- Curse
- Iceshard

The other star of the team, after Pikachu. Lapras is a tank, and with the curse+priority STAB move combinaison, I really don't understand how it can't be OU. It's really fun to play, and really strong. I can take paralysis without problem, and I switch in generally versus baton-pass team like ninjask, who doesn't think I've a priority move who OHKO him.

Snorlax @ leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
Sassy, 244 HP / 28 Def / 236 SpD
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Body slam
- Fire Blast

What will be Red without his Snorlax? Like a big cuddly toy who sleep, it's my statut absorber, fireblast to OHKO foretress, and to inflict more damage than firepunch versus skarmory. Special tank with rest, it's pretty well in the late-game. I don't know If I'll go for the curse version, because I need a statut absorber. Body slam to hit strong with STAB.

Thanks.

Ash and Red are not the same person. Red is the main character in the Kanto Manga while Ash is the main character in the Anime series. The Manga and Anime are pretty different but Ash and Red have similar teams for the most part. All of the games are based off of the Manga, not the anime. Also, Ash never actually evolved his Squirtle or Bulbasaur. He stopped Bulbasaur from evolving and he released Squirtle, he never had that team.

Red's team is Pikachu / Poliwrath / Aerodactyl / Snorlax / Gyarados / Venusaur or Charizard.

I will move this to Other Teams. It's not as competitively viable as it can be, but is a "themed" team intended for OU play.

Red's team is Pikachu / Poliwrath / Aerodactyl / Snorlax / Gyarados / Venusaur or Charizard.
There are actually 3 different people. Ash is completely unrelated to both of them, while Red from the manga is based on Red from Pokemon Red and Jade (the original Japanese games). All the manga are based on the video games, not the other way around. That's why Red from Brawl, HG/SS, and Leafgreen/Firered look different from Red in the original Red, Blue, and Green(Jade) manga.

And Red from the Manga never had a Charizard, he borrowed it from his rival to go through Silver Cave/Mountain. I never red that one, but I heard about it.

...I realize how complicated that sounds.....

His real team is supposed to be Pikachu, Charizard, Venasaur, Blastoise, Snorlax, and Mewtwo. They changed Mewtwo for Espeon in Silver and Gold, then again to Lapras in HG/SS.

Your team is really solid. I can't really see anything wrong with it, but you might wan't some more Attack/Sp Attack EVs (and Return, unless you want that Paralysis instead of xtra power) on Snorlax.

I would stick with the Status Absorber Lax. It helps out the team more than Curselax, unless you really want an xtra sweeper.
