This is my first time on the competitive team and I want my team to be the best that it could be. I would appreciate any feedback.
Leonardo (Smeargle) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Stealth Rock
- Sticky Web
- Endeavor
This my lead and I usually start off with spore than go with Sticky Web and Stealth Rock since they gain the best synergy together for this team. Sticky Web is vital for my Exploud since it's really slow. Endeavor is used in the last slot, making use of Smeargle's Focus Sash and Mega Pinsir revenge kill with Quick Attack.
SoundWave (Exploud) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Boomburst
- Overheat
- Focus Blast
- Surf
The pokemon that this team is built around. The main selling point of this set is Boomburts that has next to no drawbacks, as nothing is immune to it due to Exploud's Scrappy ability. Overheat and Focus Blast couple well with Boomburst, being gives Exploud a powerful option against exceptionally bulky Steel-types such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn. Surf hits ground types hard. Due to Exploud's rather low Speed, the EVs focus on maximizing its attacking power and bulk, trying to give it as many opportunities as possible to attack the opponent. The Speed EVs allow Exploud to outspeed minimum Speed Rotom-W.
Megatron (Pinsir-Mega) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Return
- Earthquake
Mega Pinsir is a switch in to fighting types that come in on Exploud. Swords Dance is the obligatory boosting move of this set, pushing Mega Pinsir's already outrageous attack to new levels. Quick Attack is the most used move of this set, receiving the Aerilate boost and type change, while also helping offset Pinsir's average Speed against faster Pokemon. Earthquake gives Pinsir valuable coverage, primarily hitting Aegislash who would otherwise counter it. Return is the strongest stab option.
BoogityBoo!!! (Gourgeist-Huge) @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 253 Def / 4 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Leech Seed
- Will-O-Wisp
- Seed Bomb
- Protect
This is the team's spinblocker since I need Stick Web and SR up to sweep with Exploud. With solid Speed, high Defense, and low HP, Gourgeist-S makes excellent use of Leech Seed, which inflicts additional passive damage to the opponent while restoring Gourgeist's health. Combined with Protect, Gourgeist has solid sustainability and can quickly sap the strength of a healthy opponent. Seed Bomb in the final moveslot is Gourgeist's most reliable STAB option.
StarScreen (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt / Ice Beam
This is the team rapid spinner and I needed something to take out fire types and I need another special attacker. Scald is Starmie's STAB of choice, as it has a nice 30% chance of inflicting a burn, softening the physical blows Starmie might need to tank. Psyshock is boosted by STAB, has a solid Base Power, and is capable of hitting Gengar. And finally, Rapid Spin supports the team by clearing the field of hazards. Thunderbolt or Ice Beam for coverage.
Smiley (Goodra) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Gooey
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
This is my team's special wall and main special attacker. When running Assault Vest, Goodra can act as an incredibly bulky pivot that can deal solid damage to the opponent in the process. Draco Meteor is an incredibly powerful STAB move that deals huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it, and can rip common offensive Pokemon such as Talonflame to shreds. Fire Blast provides this set with much-needed coverage against the likes of Ferrothorn and Excadrill, which can both switch into a Draco Meteor with relative ease and threaten to set up in Goodra's face. Thunderbolt gives Goodra a much-needed coverage move against Togekiss and Azumarill, common Fairy-types that will oftentimes try to switch into a Draco Meteor. It's also useful for vaporizing bulky Water-types such as Gyarados, Vaporeon, and Tentacruel. Focus Blast rounds off this set's coverage by 2HKOing specially defensive Tyranitar, which can easily shrug off a Draco Meteor and threaten to 2HKO Goodra with Crunch.
Hopefully I posted everything the proper way. I would appreciate any constructive criticism and positive feedback!
