As I promised, here is the second part of the final post I wanted to write to cap off the season. It's even longer than the first part (whoops!) but it has to be as it's dedicated to the players, the real protagonists of this great journey. Without further ado, let's start!
jackofspadesman > our season unofficially started when, after taking the decision to draft you with the first overall pick, I wrote on Discord to ask if you were ready to win a championship together. Maybe it was a bit out of character but it just showed how much I value you as a player and I knew you only had one result in mind. Rbel was our chance to redemption after a fun but disappointing edition of ccc and we were so close, yet so far...
Your season wasn't easy but even in the darkest moment, you didn't give up and you stuck with the team, eventually leading to two important wins against Optidox. You wrote me after the last game that you wanted to do better and I totally understand it because someone who is as talented as you should always aim for a great record.
At the same time, I will die on the hill that the best version of you as a person and as a player is the lovely and laidback Jake we got to know and love in the server. As long as you keep your passion for the game and have fun, I am sure I'll see you back in rbtt.
You concluded your last message saying you had a lot of fun with the team this season
despite me saying you look like Syndrome. Well...you are damn right about it and I am sure we'll have more chances to team up again in the future :)
Drxxtv > the MVP of the team, finishing rbel with an phenomenal 8-1 record and representing a certainty whenever we needed a win. You could have easily been in rbtt for a second consecutive year but I am so so glad you forgot to sign up because it was a pleasure to team up once again after ccc lol
I have known you for more than one year in another server and even if you are already a successful content creator, you are an incredibly down to earth guy and you proved to be a true team player whose enthusiasm was contagious and led your teammates to look at the upcoming matchups with renewed optimism. I have been told you personally reached out to some of the guys to show them support and make sure they would not give up, which is another example of your qualities as a person and as a player, so thank so so much for doing that.
After rbel, it's time for you to shine in individual tournaments like gen 9 swiss and the circuit as a whole. I am sure this year you won't miss playoffs and then we'll see you in rbtt IX :)
virae > I have known you indirectly for a while since you and Vitor have played too many series in 2024, so I figured you were a good player and a pretty approachable guy too. Talking to our gen 1 consultants convinced us even more to bet on you with an early pick and you did pretty darn well in the madhouse. You were the person who completed the incredible comeback we had week 1, clinched our first win of the season against Glalie and started the tour with an absurd 8-0 record in games won. Your results and your late week gaming rightfully led you to become "the closer" of this team. That would be already enough to consider you a successful pick but I have nothing but praise for you as a teammate because you were engaged in the server and active even in voice calls. It was very cool to know you better and from now on I'll root for you in the future events of the gen 1 randbats server! See you soon in wcor and, I hope, rbtt :)
Stories > Ashley, watching you play was a rollercoaster of emotions, both for the speed of your games and because anything could happen!
We were quite surprised to see you were still available round 4 because we knew you were a great player who could cover multiple generations, so you ended up being one of many flexible slots we had on the team.
Your season had highs and lows that made you understandably frustrated but things took a more positive turn when we slotted you in gen 9. Trust me when I say you should stop blaming yourself for g1 of the finals, you really played it well given the knowledge at your disposal. Talent wise, I have no doubt you could be in rbtt next year, so I hope you'll stick to randbats events. Don't let the bad luck and matchups get too much in your head and you'll get the results a player of your caliber can easily achieve!
JustFranco > I am sorry that this season didn't go as planned, your score is probably the biggest surprise for us and it can be explained by the fact you faced pretty good opponents and you were on the receving end of some classic pokemon moments. You definitely had moments when you showed the bright talent you have and that allowed you to obtain prestigious results in your career. Thanks for giving us your availability for the entire competition and for not backing down from the challenge, I hope this "traumatic" experience won't discourage you from joining more randbats events in the future.
BigWes95 > I started interacting with Wes a few months ago after a ladder game, if I recall correctly. Further encounters on the ladder and the chats in the randbats room made him believe he had the right to reach out and annoy me every single day. He has a job in finance but for some obscure reason he always finds time to request some matches, which inevitably turn out to be long "best of" series either because we are cursed and we keep rolling gen 2 in roulette, or because he refuses to end on a loss. I have basically turned into one of his favorite ways to procrastinate work, I guess.
In the weeks leading to the rbel draft, he messaged me 6780283 times to explain why he would be a great early pick and that I should get him as fast as I could because other managers he talked to were interested. Shortly after we started inviting the players to ttarcord, he asked me a detailed account of the background of all his teammates, showing an unacceptable lack of respect for my boundaries and my time! On the third week he started a mutiny against me with the other bozo Drowsy69, which led to my figurative death. Last but not least, he has continued making fun of me for eating breadsticks as a snack ever since I ate some in a vc.
"But if he is that annoying, why would you draft him on your team?" First of all, I am a masochist. Second of all, he is a very good player. Third of all... I simply couldn't have wished for a better player. You know, sometimes we always forget there is a whole world behind a simple nickname. Talking pretty much daily led me to know and appreciate him as a person and I'd like to say we have established a good relationship based on mutual respect and trust. Wes, I think this is the right place to thank you again for sharing your experience and the advice you gave me when I expressed my concerns about my present and my future. I appreciate even more what you wrote me in another battle that happened a few weeks later. Ok, you were drunk as hell but as we have discovered in the server, brits are really built different and their tolerance to alcohol is impressive. So yeah, you can't eat those words anymore :p
If you are a rbtt manager in 2026 and are reading this post, please give him a chance, at least for tryouts. He finished with a convincing record in gen 7, he is always on top on the megas ladders and can easily adapt to every other format. By drafting him, you'll get a passionate teammate who will always seek to improve by reviewing his games and will be more than happy to play training games and spectate his teammates.
You last told me you truly enjoyed this experience and this means a lot to me because that was always my primary goal as a manager and as a moderator of this community. These tournaments do be wacky but they can be a ton of fun if you meet the right people along the way, you know?
Now it's time for you to embark on a new adventure. It's going to be a different "game" but I have no doubt you will keep being great in your new role as a father x)
Kinetic > as Icy already said, we really liked the idea to recruit a former Tyranitar for this second campaign and we knew you were a valid player to have on board. Two years ago you made a name for yourself reaching finals of the gen 9 open, and then all the matches I have seen you play in rbel I and wcor showed that you knew what you were doing. Well, you exceeded our expectations and finished with a phenomenal 6-1 record after facing some very tough competition along the way and overcoming unpleasant situations irl. You kept a very high level week in and out and I rarely recall you making mistakes. The best thing is that you are still incredibly young despite being quite experienced in tournaments, so I have no doubt that this will be the year when you bounce back in the circuit and in wcor :)
Hrishioo7 > this tournament was the classic example of growing pains because you couldn't fully translate your ladder results into a successful run in rbel. Thanks you for remaining active in the server pretty much every week, I am sure that the player I have seen in the replays pre-draft and even more recently in your swiss series will make an appearance in important randbats tournaments pretty soon, hopefully starting with wcor :D
Celever > drafting you for rbel was pretty much a no brainer because you are super versatile and you know randbats like very few in this community do. You were another victim of "the big shuffling" we implemented to give everyone a chance to play and your neutral record doesn't show that you actually scored two of the most important wins of our season, both in Mystery Box: the one vs Yuudachi helped us clinch playoffs, the one vs Tarre shifted momentum in our favor going into the legendary last 4 simultaneous/consecutive matches in semis.
Mr Bear, you were one of the first people to welcome me with open arms in this community along with
nemoauditur, advising me to sign up for rbtt just because I was a room tour hero (lol?). I am not sure I would still be here without you two so thank you for all the work you have put in randbats.
I know it wasn't probably the best period for you to enter a tournament like this but I am happy we teamed up together for once and that you seemed to enjoy the ride, especially in the last few weeks. The Saturday night vc will always be one of the best memories of this adventure :)
velvet > similarly to Stories, we knew that with you we would get a good all rounder that could grant us a lot of flexibility without sacrificing the quality of certain slots. I am sorry we kinda forced you to play gen 8 at the start, also because you definitely did better when you found yourself in more familiar territories like gen 9 and 3. The same applies to the very last match: BSSF is a very unorthodox format and hard to train. As always, we win and lose together, so I hope you are not too disappointed. I also saw what you wrote in the server and I hope it's not one of the last times we see you in rands but whatever you decide to do, I wish you good luck for your future tournaments!
Hats > man, I think you are not going to touch gen 4 randbats ever again, are you? I recently discovered this tier is considered the actual "madhouse", at least for tiers, and you definitely got below average luck. Still, thank you for never giving up and for always being available to cover the slot as a true team player. We didn't even know before the draft that you and Zoyo were good friends, so that was a pleasant surprise that made the server even more lively and...french x)
I know you already took part in wcor but it would be cool to see you in more randbats events, so I hope gen 9 swiss is just the beginning!
Zoyotte > after 9 weeks, I can finally reveal the story of how I got to know Zoyo. I am good friends with
Xilefi, who used to play in BDSP tournaments before becoming the
tyrant leader of that community. In one of these tournaments
three years ago, he was supposed to face a french guy with a shiny Furret pfp who lived in the same city, someone named Bhalal. I am pretty sure I watched those games and I wasn't particularly impressed by how this person played. Then he started joining randbats events and got picked in wcor in the last two years. I was still doubtful about his qualities but then I saw him play a very good series against Fantsy in the First Blood Mystery Box slot for ccc (I swear I am not joking) and along with some good performances in room tours, I quickly changed my mind and I understood that - surprise, surprise - players can get better over time!
If it wasn't clear enough, Bhalal is the previous name of Zoyotte and I am very happy that you opened my eyes because you were a great player for us (drafting you in round 12 was daylight robbery) and a very dedicated teammate. Most importantly, you introduced us to the marvelous :vous: emoji that immediately became a hit in the server. Thank you for the s/o post you wrote as well, I am excited to see you in future tournaments because I am sure that you still have margins to improve, so I am looking forward to seeing you climbing higher and higher...
Zelph > you were one of our bets for this rbel and I think you performed pretty well overall for somebody who was playing his first randbats team tournament. Your matches definitely showed you are capable of making big momentum-shifting plays and you are well aware of how you need to handle your resources. You reminded me of what Amaranth said about a certain young gen 3 player, which is that sometimes they might be too aggressive. You are already good but once you keep that part under control, you'll become almost unstoppable. I hope you are not disappointed in our choice to bench you in the finals, me and Icy know your value and it's only a matter of "when" and not "if" before we see you on the most important stages!
SoggyDoggySage > after asking Jordy for some feedback, we realized you could represent an interesting pick because we wanted an accomplished player who could fill the modern gens slots and steady the ship in case things didn't go as planned. I am sorry we didn't give you many opportunities to shine, your positive final record shows that you are a capable player and you could have given us even more (heck, you were the lone survivor of the tragic series against Dragapults). You showed enthusiasm in joining this developmental tournament and never stopped supporting your teammates up until the very end.
It's always a bit scary to draft a tier player because you don't know how committed and motivated they are going to be, but it was very clear you have a great personality and cared about the team and randbats. Good luck in the swiss tournament (3-0 so far wooo) and I hope you will team up with Icy again in wcor!
Bonus: much needed thank you for the lovely pics for your dog such as the one shown down below :D
And now, let's talk about the two partners in crime who got drafted back to back and are definitely the MVPs of the team in terms of vibes:
drowsy69 > I would have never expected that the guy I faced in relatively forgettable round 1 of a spotlight would become one of my players for my first real managerial experience but life works in myserious ways sometimes. The first thing I want to say is that I am sorry, because of course I ended up jinxing the team three weeks ago after promising you that the moment to write a celebratory post for the finals would arrive. But it didn't happen. And I am sorry especially for people like you who gave their 100% from the start to the end. You were the only person who really volunteered to play gen 8 when Velvet couldn't and at first I was a bit scared because I knew you were more accustomed and would do better in 9. Much to my surprise, you adapted quickly and managed to climb the gen 8 ladder, a life-changing experience that led you to flood my dms to tell me about the deserted landscape of gen 8 and that you were dying inside a bit every time you lost a lot of points to players who were way below in the standings :D
You and Hare are the best examples of why rbel can be such a great opportunity and a fun competition. You both started as bench players but your unwavering willingness to help the team led you two to grind multiple ladders and to adapt to new formats. Drowsy, it's very fitting and absolutely deserved that you got the win that sent us through the finals and winning your last match against a strong opponent as Drizzle is a fitting ending to your personal story in rbel.
You were the first person to start the voice calls in the server, you were the one to start the "Lrogue vs Tyranitars" challenge and you were there with us at
5 am just to support the team, just to see if we could clinch the tiebreak and turn the tides in our favor. We all know it went differently and it's clear there is disappointment, but I think it won't take much time until we can look back at this season with a smile.
The many times we spent spectating the other ttars but also just to talk and play are what made everything worth it to me. I am proud of being your manager and I have no doubt you have the qualities to be successful in pokemon and life overall. If you ever need someone to talk to, remember you can always count on this old and grumpy italian man x)
TheHorrorHare > The last but most certainly not least pick! We wanted someone that was relatively new to the community and who could be a young and promising player. I got to know you a bit thanks to your room activity and from auth challenge, when you told me you were taking mons more seriously lately and that you had settled for the current nickname after changing a bunch. For these reasons and the fact we discovered you were into VGC (making you a possible dubs backup) just a few seconds before we got to pick, we decided to take a chance on you.
I already anticipated in the section above that you were a phenomenal team player, willing to play three formats that couldn't be any more different from one another with good results and becoming the unofficial emergency sub in case people weren't available.
We struck gold with you and Drowsy not just for your positive record but because you two were instrumental in creating the joyous and chaotic atmosphere we cherished in the team server.
Thanks to you we discovered the existence of the mythological - 2.5 timezone in Canada, we saw a quite adorable Appletun plush, we talked about VGC and spectated your matches against ungodly teams on the ladder. According to Drowsy, the inhuman noises we heard from you in vc were the consequence of you falling down the stairs over and over again. I am not sure I believe in this conspiracy but what I know for sure is that they have contributed to create some unforgettable memories :p
I'll finish by saying that you have a lot of room for growth. It's normal to make mistakes and feel a bit overwhelmed in the heat of the battle but you always bounced back and handled the pressure pretty well, which is not a given for someone at his first team tour experience.
I am sure you'll stick around the community for long and I am happy about it because it's always nice to see you in the room and chat whenever I get the chance x)
I can't end without more words dedicated to my co-manager
IcyPenguin2. The best moments in my life came when people forced me to do stuff that deep down I knew I would like but that for some reason I was too scared to do. So yeah, thanks for convincing me to join you in this journey because it was a great and fun experience and you were an excellent co-manager. And let's be honest, could I pass on the opportunity to create an unofficial team penguin? Of course not! It's crazy to see how much better you got after you started in rbel last year and I hope your journey in pokemon will lead you to even higher heights. Most importantly You are a good lad and I am glad that you are part of this community, you definitely help make it better :]
With this I can declare finished my double, giant wall of text. Shamelessly stealing the idea from Roginald and Derpy, here are some screenshots that can document the atmosphere we truly cherished and bragged about. Thank you all once again for this splendid adventure. For the last time, TTARS ON TOP!
