(Um... if too many of you find this racist, please do lock the thread. But my opinion is that racial preference is different from racism. )

So, I came across several Youtube videos with the statistics of racial preference in dating.
The results are actually quite shocking.
(I'm not saying that these are mega mega accurate, but I'm sure that it couldn't be too off.)

It somehow shows that people aren't necessarily more attracted to their own race, which was not what I predicted.
I also thought that white women would be the most popular, but in fact they were statistically the 2nd least popular group.
They also showed white men are most attracted to Asian women, which was also shocking because I thought most Asian parents would forbid their daughters to date white men.
I thought Asian men would much prefer white women, but in fact they dated Latinas the most.


Thinking about it, I actually saw several photos of you Smogonites with an Asian wife or girlfriend.
I wonder why.
I think white people dating Asians probably only increased in recent years. Is it because of the rising economics in Asian countries?
 
There's room in this world for all kinds of beautiful ladies. But Asian women are just the best. I'll settle down with a woman based on her personality, but if she's a sexy Asian at the same time that'd be nice.
 
these are all just assumptions, but:

- i think that people who are half and half (asian/caucasian, w/e) are extremely attractive, and would want my child to be sexually appealing to carry on my genetic line
- i think we're programmed to be attracted to people who look as different to us as possible, for greater genetic diversity
- i like things that "stand out", i live in europe where most people are fair skinned, and seeing asian people generally just turns my head when i walk past them, they're different, and thus interesting to me
- i just personally think that asian women are extremely attractive

So, maybe because this generation is less racist than the older ones, that they start to look at different people?

PS: I also find half-half Asian-Caucasians really attractive. They are very popular people in school as well. Plus, many many Miss Hong Kong winners are part Caucasians.

I'm really just attracted to people who carry the same facial looks that I adore. People find it strange though that I expressed attraction to pale white women from time to time, they feel that white people such as myself would often be chasing darker women and vice versa. I can say that my actually white friends just adore brown/bronze/tan/dark skinned women over their own kind, and from my experience I find Indians/Saudi Bedouin ladies and Eastern Asian women to find me very appealing...

So I really don't know what the fuck is going around. To quote my personal hero, Chrisitan Bale: Give me a fucking answer.

People like what's new and different, so in many respects I'm not surprised by a degree of preference towards other races -- plus it makes sense smell based science of attraction wise.

Oh yeah, that's true. I've always wanted to date people outside my race, but I know very well that my mother would disagree.
She suffered a lot in her marriage due to cultural shock/ cultural clash and she was discriminated a lot when she first arrived. (and it's not even inter-racial.)
Heck, she doesn't even want me to date with people from another country. She even has stereotypes for people from different parts of Taiwan, not to mention different parts of China.

But dating someone outside my race sounds soooooooo cool though.

My dad is totally open. He wants me to date a guy with a kind heart, and that's it. He's part white anyway.
 
White girls are the best they have all different types of hair and eye colors and that blows my mind. I'm Asian so I obviously don't have much of an attraction to them, especially since their hair/eye combo only comes in like brown.

edit: nvm this thread is about dating I don't know shit about that LOL

I personally mostly like white girls but that may just be because my town is so white you will go blind walking in.
 
I can be attracted to anything except certain types of black women, and asians. I will never understand why most men have a boner on asians. White redheads are master race though, forever have a boner for those.

When it comes to men though, I guess what I -can- be attracted to is what most typical girls are attracted to, fit/slim-looking men with a bit of a scruffy beard etc :p
 
I'm half Asian and half Caucasian, and I can assure you I'm neither that attractive nor popular. Guess those traits went to my little brother instead...


Anyways for me, I only find white and asian chicks attractive correspondingly, black women and latinas aren't attractive to me. A few middle eastern chicks I have found attractive, but most of them, nah (besides like most iranians wanted to kill us in the US last I heard).
 
Personally, I am (East) Asian (as you probably guessed from my custom title) and while I am attracted to most kinds of girls, as far as dating goes I pretty much only go after the same race. This is more for the shared culture than anything else really. Socially, I act very American, but when it comes to family I do like to stay traditional.
 
Personally i don't tend to have much of a preference, although in general i think i rate black people as a bit less attractive than most people do.

I think people really tend to fall into two categories though, people who like what theyre comfortable with (not necessarily their own race, but largely what theyve been exposed to during formative years), and people who like the exotic, and in this as in basically any other situation i definitely prefer going with my comfort zone rather than something "different"

This is actually not true-- it's been proven through numerous psychological studies that (I won't be looking up) we are most attracted to people who look similar. This has been tested by computer meshing test subject photos into other photos, and finding that test subjects respond most positively to photos that have had their own photo data meshed in at higher degrees.

That said, this "looking similar" does NOT = same race; because the features that have a higher influence on test subjects are proportions-- distance between eyes, length of nose, balance of face, etc. etc., which are not inherently connected heavily to race. While it's true you might see "more similar faces" more frequently amongst people of the same race, the "proportions" that human eyes respond to from attraction are more fluid between races than you would think.

tl;dr-- you're programmed to like "similar" in faces, but "similar face proportions" can be found in people of other races surprisingly frequently.

I think racial preference in a partner has no ethical repercussions, nor do I think that it has much of anything to do with our "basic genetic wiring." For me, the Asian women are only attractive for a likely higher shared value system/cultural understanding. "Asian Fever" in white men is probably heavily influenced by media sexualization of Asian women (though they are cute).

In terms of simple physical attraction, I'd say I'm just as likely to be attracted to women of any race.

That's probably why. I'm thinking that this is temporary as well.
I thought big boobs and big butts were important in females from a male point of view, so I was confused why Asians were the current trend.

We also heard that white people didn't like our flat noses, slanted eyes, etc.

I am white and I prefer asian women. I am not attracted to big boobs or big butts at all. However, I am attracted to slanted eyes and flats noses.

A lot of the reason why I like Asians is because at my school, all the white girls are dumb and get bad grades. I am highly attracted to intelligent women. Also, the Asians at my school tend not to drink or party which is preferable to all the white girls partying. Some Latinos are attractive but that is uncommon. Very few black women are attractive to me. I also have seen attractive Middle Eastern women but of course they are not interested in a white Catholic like me.

Fair-skinned white women. Definitely. I love country bitches. As far as dating, I've only ever dated fair-skin or tan white women. Next would be mixed. Anything mixed is interesting. The lighter skin in the mixed girl the better. Latinas are super attractive but as far as dating they can be pretty annoying and every single Latina I've been close with has pushed their annoying Catholic faith on me. NO GO. They have the sexiest voices, tho.

I find some Asian women EXTREMELY attractive and others not attractive at all depending on the face, skin tone, and body shape. Don't really get the fascination white men have with asian girls. Too much fantasy from porn or anime would be my guess. Girls with bent legs are NO GO regardless of the race. lol.

Also I'm really sorry to say this but even black people don't find dark-skinned black people attractive. I've seen some beautiful dark-skinned African/African-American girls but I would say 95% of the time I don't find myself attracted to them. Light skin is a different story.

Ah, grades do explain a lot.

They are typically superior in maths for a fact.
I think it's because traditionally, in both China and Japan, wives are the ones who kept the money. They also made plans on how much to save and how much to use on where. Especially in Japan, women were the ones who decide how much pocket money to give to the husband, whilst all the husband's income has to go to the wife first.

in brazil as a whole we have a pretty wide diversity though some groups are more or less confined to certain areas - or social classes ;(. rio de janeiro is a clusterfuck as far as gene pool goes.

media advertisement has a lot to do with what people perceive as attractive (but i guess that's a completely different topic). let's also give our friends oedipus and elektra some credit.

my preference has always been caucasian women and the more similar to the european average the better. i don't find asian women to be particularly attractive but if i kind of see the alure. i'm hardly ever attracted to affrican features. brown skin is ok, don't really like black.
 
I'm black and mostly date white women (surprise ik). Asians CAN be cool but they have to have a pretty face and nice assets (uhh like brains ;]). Not really into black or Indian women unless they are mixed and have a nice skin color. Latinas are hot af and are a secondary preference, but through dating have realized they are all high maintenance and I don't need all that noise. Going back to white women I like brown hair with green eyes, blonde hair with brown eyes, and if you have red hair and blue eyes just marry me. Racial preferences start my selection process when choosing a woman to date but isn't the sole factor. I like intelligent, athletic, funny women with a great smile regardless of what you look like but would probs just chill with you if I wasn't attracted to you.

Shallow = yes
Stereotypical = yes
Ok with that = you best believe it :]
 
white boys mostly (caucasian & stuff), some black guys are hot tho but generall I dont like much.

I dont like neither asiatic/oriental/arabic/latin guys (except certain br ones and some exceptions from latin guys which doesn't look like that at all).
