So I've been getting into them a little more lately. I was wondering which album of theirs to get first: I have Greatest Hits I and A Night at the Opera, but I know they shifted styles through their career: what album should I go for? I was considering Queen II since that's closest to my musical taste, but not sure.

Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack are both amazing albums. I am actually presently relistening through their discography, so if you want any advice for specific songs, feel free to ask me, or I can update you on which albums I find better and worse! The first time I listened through their entire discography I was too amazed to judge things very well, and this time I am listening with more thought!

queen is the greatest rock band ever, and i own all their CD's. heres my opinion on all of them:

Queen - this is okay but kinda boring. no real standout tracks

Queen 2 - fucking rocks, a must listen. standout tracks: march of the black queen, father to son

Sheer Heart Attack - not as good as the above, but still very good. standout tracks: killer queen, stone cold crazy, misfire

A Night At The Opera
- very good but overrated. standout tracks: '39, you're my best friend, bohemian rhapsody

A Day At The Races - queen's best album. essential. only one bad track.

News of the World - dangerous territory here. a heavier, rockier album, but the songs are uneven. standout tracks: spread your wings, it's late

Jazz - a good balance between heavier stuff and earlier material. some songs are questionable to say the least. standout tracks: fat bottomed girls, dont stop me now, mustapha

the game - chaos hates this album, but i quite like it. consistently a pretty good album. standout tracks: play the game, save me, crazy little thing called love

hot space - a really terrible disco cd. get the one standout track, under pressure, and move on

the works - thank god they recovered after the last cd. this is good but the overall sound is a bit flat. standout tracks: hammer to fall, radio gaga, its a hard life

a kind of magic - a bubbly, bouncey cd that contains some of their best songs. standout tracks: a kind of magic, friends will be friends, princes of the universe

the miracle - get the title track, as it is magnificent. the rest of the stuff here is too flat and boring.

innuendo - a great way to finish queens career, this is a magnificent, sweeping album with only a few minor hiccoughs. standout tracks: innuendo, headlong, these are the days of our lives, the show must go on

my mom and my aunt basically revolve around the band Queen. So for Christmas, i decided to get each of them Sheer Heart Attack. Queen is also one of my favorite bands, but i had never took time to listen to Sheer Heart Attack. My mom put it in the stereo as soon as she got it, and boy was i surprised. It's a great album and i highly recommend it

loling because I just got to this album again and it is killing me to even listen through each song all the way

okay, I guess I might as well mention my thoughts so far, kind of going on ratings I gave, but I rate harshly!
Queen I - I agree with Steelick's analysis that it is nothing really standout, and I rated no song above 4/5..Keep Yourself Alive is probably the best on this album, and it is not bad, as almost every song a 3/5, but nothing that kicks your ass
Queen II - The March of the Black Queen, Seven Seas of Rhye, and Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke are all amazing, and White Queen and Father to Son are also stellar
Sheer Heart Attack - Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Flick of the Wrist, In the Lap of the Gods, and Bring Back That Leroy Brown are all standout
A Night at the Opera - Bohemian Rhapsody and Seaside Rendezvous are two of my top five Queen songs, and Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...) is also stellar, with a lot more 3/5 level songs too
A Day at the Races - in my opinion only the fourth best Queen album! The Millionaire Waltz and You and I are my third and sixth favorite Queen songs th ough, and Somebody to Love is also amazing, and Teo Torriate and Good-Old Fashioned Lover Boy pretty good
News of the World - We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions are obvious and you have probably heard them enough lol Spread Your Wings is a really depressing happy sounding song, which is cool, and Sheer Heart Attack is pretty good
Jazz - Don't Stop Me Now and Bicycle are standout, Mustapha and Fat Bottomed Girl and a few others 3/5 level songs
The Game - Sail Away Sweet Sister and Dragon Attack are amazing songs
Flash Gordon - The Hero is pretty good, but this is probably the second worst album besides Hot Space
Hot Space - disco shit, but Under Pressure is amazing

I've heard some of these, I have Greatest Hits, but looks like Queen II is the album to get.
