[Overview]

<h4>Uber</h4>
<p>Although Quagsire has rather average stats, it works well in Ubers thanks to Water Absorb and an immunity to Electric-type moves. Quagsire has one main purpose in Ubers: to be one of the best Kyogre checks in the game. It doesn't do much else, but Kyogre is such a force in Ubers that Quagsire can be useful if you can find nothing else to check Kyogre. An immunity to Thunder Wave sets Quagsire apart from Latias as Kyogre may carry it, which could be devastating for Latias. Without its STAB Water moves, Kyogre is forced to use Ice Beam, which from a standard Choice Scarf Kyogre is only a 4HKO. Encore, Toxic, and Yawn give Quagsire an effective support movepool, which can be used to cause switches and inflict status on opponents. This can be extremely helpful when used in conjunction with entry hazards, such as Stealth Rock and Spikes. Quagsire's main downfall is its low offensive power. This makes it an easy Pokémon to set up against, and it's especially vulnerable to Pokémon with Taunt.</p>

[SET]

ability: Water Absorb
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[Set Comments]

<p>Quagsire's excellent typing, above average HP stat, and Water Absorb ability make it a solid support Pokémon in Ubers. Quagsire is an excellent counter to all Kyogre sets due to its immunity to the Water- and Electric-type moves Kyogre throws around. If Kyogre tries to set up Calm Mind or Substitute, Quagsire can cripple it with Encore and force it to switch out. However, many Kyogre use Choice items, forcing them to switch out immediately.</p>

<p>Encore is a staple on this set, as it allows Quagsire to cripple any Pokémon who tries to set up, like Rock Polish Groudon. Not only that, but it's also helpful because it forces Pokémon such as Kyogre to use Ice Beam repeatedly, which allows you to bring in a Pokémon who will take little damage from it. Yawn is an excellent move to force switches and rack up damage from entry hazards. Toxic can be used to wear down bulky opponents such as Groudon, Kyogre, and Wobbuffet. An attacking move isn't used on this set due to Quagsire's low offensive stats. You may consider using a Shed Shell to escape Wobbuffet, as it can Encore a status move and make them useless with Safeguard.</p>

[Additional Comments]

<p>The EVs listed are geared towards Special Defense, due to the specially-based nature of the Uber tier. Max HP gives Quagsire an excellent level of bulk, while max Special Defense allows it to survive powerful special moves, such as Choice Scarf Palkia's Spacial Rend and even Choice Specs Kyogre's Ice Beam. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense, giving Quagsire an extra point in its defenses.</p>

Below are some damage calculations showing Quagsire's ability to take hits.

<ul class="damage_calculation">
<li>252 SpA Timid Choice Scarf Kyogre Ice Beam = 27.4% - 32.5%</li>
<li>252 SpA Hasty Palkia Choice Scarf Spatial Rend = 43.4% - 51.3%</li>
<li>252 SpA Timid Dialga Choice Scarf Dragon Pulse = 39.1% - 46.4%</li>
</ul>

<p>A Pokémon to set up entry hazards is a necessity, as Quagsire's ability to cause switches with both Yawn and Encore will rack up a lot of residual damage. Deoxys-S is one of the best options in the Uber tier due to its insane Speed stat, access to Taunt, and the choice of Stealth Rock, Spikes, or both. Forretress is another fine option thanks to its amazing typing and Rapid Spin. Unlike Deoxys-S, Forretress also has access to Toxic Spikes, which allow it to cripple grounded walls such as Groudon and Blissey. Skarmory is another excellent choice as it can switch into Pokémon like Choiced Shaymin-S or Rayquaza locked into Outrage, then set up Spikes or Stealth Rock.</p>

[Team Options]

<h4>Uber</h4>
<p>As Quagsire has a nasty 4x weakness to Grass-type moves, a partner who has a resistance to Grass should be chosen. Forretress is an excellent addition to your team, as it can switch into Grass-type moves with its 4x resistance, Rapid Spin, and set up its own entry hazards. Rapid Spin is helpful as it allows Pokémon like Ho-Oh to switch in without losing a large chunk of their health. Dialga is another great partner who can switch into Grass-type attacks, while it poses an immediate threat with STAB Draco Meteor.</p>

<p>A Pokémon that acts as a lure to Water-type moves from Pokémon like Kyogre and Palkia should be considered, as it allows Quagsire to switch in easily and shuffle the opponent's team with status, stacking residual damage. Ho-Oh is a great option, as it can switch into Grass-type moves while luring Water- and Rock-type moves, which Quagsire can switch into. Groudon is another excellent lure for Water-type moves, though it shares a weakness to Grass-type moves. Finally, Heatran is an excellent choice, as it can switch into Grass-type attacks from the likes of Shaymin-S, while it lures Water-type attacks from Kyogre and Palkia.</p>

<p>Status moves cause major problems for Quagsire; poison will drain its health until it becomes unusable, and sleep will leave Quagsire vulnerable to set up on. A status absorber or cleric is needed to overcome this. Blissey is an ideal partner, as she can rid the team of status effects with Aromatherapy, while Natural Cure can cure her upon switching out. However, Blissey should watch out for users of Trick and Taunt, as these will stop her from supporting the team. Celebi is another excellent option as it has a resistance to Grass-type attacks, while it also has access to support moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave.</p>

<p>A Spin-blocker is recommended when using entry hazards, as you want to preserve them as long as possible. Giratina-O is an excellent option to block Rapid Spin from the most common users like Forretress, as it can set up Substitutes and raise its stats with Calm Mind. Giratina-O should beware of Payback though.</p>

<p>Mew, Mewtwo, and Tyranitar that carry Taunt will cause Quagsire problems as it becomes complete set-up fodder. Scizor is an effective check to each of these threats as it can hit them with U-turn, or Pursuit if you predict a switch. Scizor should watch out for Fire-type moves from Mewtwo and Tyranitar though. Metagross is another great choice as it can hit a switching Mew or Mewtwo with Pursuit, while it can hit Tyranitar with STAB Meteor Mash.</p>

<p>Wobbuffet will cause problems for Quagsire if you aren't using a Shed Shell, as it traps you with Shadow Tag and forces you to repeat a status move while the opponent switches to a powerful attacker, like Scizor into Toxic, or, worst case, the opponent may set up Safeguard and bring in Rayquaza to set up Dragon Dance or Groudon with Swords Dance. As Wobbuffet doesn't have a true counter, you must rely on prediction and lure it into Pokémon that may carry Choice items like Palkia or Dialga.</p>

[Optional Changes]

<h4>Uber</h4>
<p>Quagsire has a few usable options; however, it lacks the space to use these moves. Sleep Talk is an option for Quagsire in Ubers, as Darkrai will inevitably put it to sleep with Dark Void, though it's better to switch in most cases. Safeguard is an option to prevent damaging status, such as Darkrai's Dark Void or Giratina's Will-O-Wisp. Earthquake may be used to hit Heatran (who shuts Quagsire down with Taunt) and Dialga super effectively, while gaining a boost from STAB. Ice Punch may be used as it will 2HKO Rayquaza, while it ensures that Quagsire isn't completely shut down by Taunt. Finally, Brick Break is an option as it allows Quagsire to break screens.</p>

[Counters]

<h4>Uber</h4>
<p>Faster Pokémon with Taunt will cause problems for Quagsire, as they will stop it from using Encore, Yawn, and Toxic. Mewtwo is one of the best options, as it can cripple Quagsire with Taunt, while setting up Calm Mind or supporting other teammates with dual screens. Mewtwo can also use Trick along with a Choice item, which will cripple Quagsire and make it easier to counter.</p>

<p>A simple Lum Berry will also cause problems for any Quagsire who wish to status you. Darkrai is a good example as it can switch into Yawn or Toxic and put Quagsire to sleep with Dark Void. RestTalkers such as Dialga are effective at countering Quagsire as sleep status won't cause them any problems, while poison can be Rested off. However, RestTalkers should beware of Encore as Quagsire can lock a Pokémon into Sleep Talk while it wakes up.</p>

<p>Shaymin-S can switch into Encore and OHKO Quagsire with Seed Flare or set up Substitute from its respectable HP stat. Any Grass-type move with a considerable amount of power behind it will cause problems for Quagsire. Latias, Latios, and Deoxys-A can all use Grass Knot to hit Quagsire with 80 Base Power, which will deal large amounts of damage due to their high offensive stats.</p>

Quagsire is invariably destroyed by Rayquaza", while Brick Break is helpful to break any screens. Finally, Toxic allows Quagsire to cripple bulky opponents such as Lugia and Blissey, while Recover will restore half of Quagsire's health.</p>

[Additional Comments]

<p>The EVs listed are geared towards Special Defense, due the the special nature of the Uber tier. Forretress is another fine option thanks to its amazing typing and Rapid Spin and its disposal. Unlike Deoxys-S, Forretress also has access to Toxic Spikes, which allow it to cripple grounded walls such as Giratina and Blissey. Giratina always has Rest, so just Blissey. Maybe also add Groudon to the list.</p>

[Team Options]

<p>Set up sweepers are great additions to a team with Quagsire as they can switch into moves they resist or have an immunity to. For example, Dragon Dance Rayquaza is able to switch into any Ground-type move with an immunity and get at least one boost from Dragon Dance while the opponent switches out. Giratina-O is another option, as it can switch into Normal-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves with an immunity and can proceed to use Substitute or Calm Mind.</p>

[Optional Changes]

<p>Quagsire has a few usable options, however it lacks the space to use these moves. Icy Wind can lower an opponent's Speed, allowing you to bring in a Pokemon to revenge kill it. Safeguard is an option to prevent moves that damage status, such as Darkrai's Dark Void or Giratina's Will-O-Wisp.</p>

edit: beaten to the punch by mtr BUT I have another comment. I think you're really overhyping Quagsire. I don't know much about Ubers, but statistically Quagsire's HP stat is the opposite of "high" in Uber standards, and the overview never once mentions Quagsire's obvious downfalls (I mean, what can it really do besides beat Kyogre?). otherwise it is not a bad tasting enchilada!

I haven't used Quagsire in a while, but I dont think Recover should just be slashed in. The reason being is that with a reliable recovery move, Quagsire is going to have a much easier time beating Kyogre, since it'll be harder for the opponent to try and get it into Ice Beam's KO range. I am unsure of which move it should go over, but I think you should test it over Yawn.

I don't think using it over Yawn is the best option. Yawn seems to be one of the most effective moves since it can cause double switches, since most people won't keep in a drowsy Pokemon. Toxic is probably more helpful then Recover too. I think Yawn has been more helpful than Toxic most of the time so I believe it should be slashed with Toxic. Besides, if you can set up Toxic Spikes, Yawn will force a ton of switches anyway, so using Recover over Toxic is better in that sense. Other than that, putting it in other options could work.

I would say possibly put Toxic in other options, I feel Recover is just too important of a move to be slashed in with Toxic. At the very least, I think it should be the primary option over Toxic. I'll add more nitpicks to this later when I get the chance to.

Agreed. Toxic can be moved to other options as Yawn and Encore are the moves used the most anyway. I removed the Toxic comment from set comments and added the following to other options:

"Toxic can be used to wear down bulky opponents such as Groudon or Blissey, though Quagsire has trouble giving up a moveslot for it."

Thanks :)

Latias, Latios, and Deoxys can all use Grass Knot to hit Quagsire with 80 Base Power, which will deal large amounts of damage due to their high offensive stats.</p>

Encore, Toxic, and Yawn give Quagsire an effective support movepool, which can be used to success due to its ability of causing switches and statusing opponents. This can be extremely helpful when used in conjunction with entry hazards, such as Stealth Rock and Spikes. Quagsire's main downfall is its low offensive power. This makes it an easy Pokemon to set up against, and it's especially vulnerable to Pokemon with Taunt.</p>

Not only that, but it's also helpful because it forces Pokemon such as Kyogre or Manaphy to use Ice Beam repeatedly, which allows you to bring in a Pokemon who will take little damage from it. Yawn is an excellent move to force switches and rack up damage from entry hazards. Toxic can be used to wear down bulky opponents such as Groudon, Kyogre, and Wobbuffet. Ice Punch allows Quagsire to 2HKO Rayquaza, while Brick Break is helpful to break any screens. Finally, Recover will restore half of Quagsire's health.</p>

Avoiding the "encore" repetition.

Ubers support said:
<p>A Pokemon to set up entry hazards is a huge bonus, as Quagsire's ability to cause switches with both Yawn and Encore will rack up a lot of residual damage. Deoxys-E is one of the best options in the Uber tier due to its insane Speed stat, access to Taunt, and the choice between Stealth Rock, Spikes or both. Forretress is another fine option thanks to its amazing typing and Rapid Spin at its disposal. Unlike Deoxys-S, Forretress also has access to Toxic Spikes, which allow it to cripple grounded walls such as Groudon and Blissey.</p>

Team Options said:
<p>As Quagsire has a nasty 4x weakness to Grass-type moves, a partner who has a resistance to Grass should be chosen. Forretress is an excellent addition to a (remove) your team as it can switch into Grass-type moves with its 4x resistance and remove the foe's entry hazards with Rapid Spin while setting up its own entry hazards. Rapid Spin is helpful as it allows Pokemon like Ho-Oh to switch in without losing a large chunk of their health.</p>

That changed line was for the better in terms of flow. It also felt like it was saying that Forretress was setting up its own entry hazards and removing them (Forretress's, not the foe's).

The last sentence is speaking of multiples or many Pokemon in general.

Team Options said:
<p>Groudon is another good partner as it acts as a lure to Water-type moves from Pokemon like Kyogre and Palkia, which allows Quagsire to switch in easily and shuffle the opponent's team with status and rack up residual damage from entry hazards. Ho-Oh is another great option as it can switch into Grass-type moves while luring Water- and Rock-type moves, which Quagsire can switch into.</p>

Team Options said:
<p>Status moves cause major problems for Quagsire; poison will drain its health until it becomes unusable, burns will make Ice Punch or Brick Break useless, while sleep will leave Quagsire vulnerable to set up on. A status absorber or cleric is needed to overcome this. Blissey is an ideal partner as she can rid the team of status effects with Aromatherapy, while Natural Cure can cure her upon switching out. However, Blissey should watch out for users of Trick and Taunt however, (remove) as these will stop her from supporting the team.</p>

Avoiding repetition with a simple switch of a word and comma.

Team Options said:
<p>Set up sweepers are great additions to a team with Quagsire as they can switch into moves they resist or have an immunity to. For example, Dragon Dance Rayquaza is able to switch into any Ground-type move with an immunity and get at least one boost from Dragon Dance while the opponent switches out. Giratina-O is another option as it can switch into Normal-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves with an immunity and can (remove) proceed to use Substitute or Calm Mind.</p>

"can" just slows the motion of the sentence there; I don't like it.

<p>Faster Pokemon with Taunt will cause problems for Quagsire as they will stop it from using Encore, Yawn, and Toxic. Mewtwo is one of the best options as it can cripple Quagsire with Taunt, while it (remove) setting up Calm Mind or supporting other teammates with dual screens. Mewtwo can also use Trick along with a Choice item, which will cripple Quagsire and make it easier to counter.</p>

I know you probably think the "while it sets up" stuff is okay, but it isn't. "while" is used to bring in more momentum, and thus needs the verb going into action (ending with "ing"). I think it's the word "it" itself that's just stopping the sentence from being good.

Minor, minor nitpicks.
Deoxys-E is one of the best options in the Uber tier due to its insane Speed stat, access to Taunt, and the choice between Stealth Rock, Spikes or both. Forretress is another fine option thanks to its amazing typing and Rapid Spin at its disposal. Unlike Deoxys-S,
Inconsistency; Should be Deoxys-S anyways.

Might want to mention Earthquake on Quagsire, at least on Optional Changes, because it gets STAB and demolishes Heatran, who ironically counters Quagsire with Taunt. it can also somewhat dent Dialga.

Toxic and Encore shouldn't be slashed. I've been using Quagsire for a long time in Ubers and I've come to realize that he doesn't need an attacking move, and he actually functions better without one. Quagsire is much more deadly when using double status (Toxic and Yawn). He causes tons of switches with Yawn and Recover alone, and once your opponent's Pokemon finally falls asleep, they're going to switch out which is where Toxic comes in handy and lets Quagsire cripple not just one but two Pokemon. No need to worry about getting Taunted since you have no reason to keep a Taunted Quagsire in under any circumstances, even if he does have Brick Break or Ice Punch.

Attacking moves aren't necessary. Encore lets you take down CM Ogre by Encoring Sleep Talk or Ice Beam and then switching out, or screwing over Rayquaza by Encoring them while they use SD or DD, expecting you to switch. Brick Break only allows you to deal damage to Dialga, whom you can Yawn with ease and then heal off any damage that you took while it switches out or falls asleep.

Quagsire also fares well against Manaphy who don't carry Grass Knot, again due to Water Absorb.

I don't agree with this, mostly because of the fact that any Manaphy user will also make sure that it is raining throughout the battle, which means that Manaphy will continue to boost its stats with either Tail Glow or Calm Mind while it heals off whatever status you inflict on it turn after turn. Brick Break and Ice Punch aren't helping you either.

Quagsire can fit onto almost any team just because of the fact that he stops Kyogre in its tracks, but when using him you need to be careful not to let him become your last Pokemon left, because then you're pretty much screwed.

[Set Comments]

<p>Quagsire's excellent typing, above average HP stat, and Water Absorb ability make it a solid support Pokemon in Ubers. Quagsire is an excellent counter to all Kyogre sets due to its immunity to the Water- and Electric-type moves Kyogre throws around. If Kyogre tries to set up Calm Mind or Substitute, Quagsire can cripple it with Encore and force it to switch out. However, most Kyogre use Choice items, forcing them to switch out immediately. i thought the stats said cm is quite common ?_? sorry september, i dont know about "ubers Quagsire also fares well against Manaphy who don't carry Grass Knot, again due to Water Absorb.</p>

<p>Encore is a staple on this set, why is it the secondary slash? as it allows Quagsire to cripple any Pokemon who tries to set up, like Rock Polish Groudon. Not only that, but it's also helpful because it forces Pokemon such as Kyogre or Manaphy to use Ice Beam repeatedly, which allows you to bring in a Pokemon who will take little damage from it. Ice Punch allows Quagsire to 2HKO Rayquaza, while Brick Break is helpful to break any screens. Finally, Recover will restore half of Quagsire's health.</p>

<p>A Pokemon to set up entry hazards is a huge bonus, as Quagsire's ability to cause switches with both Yawn and Encore will rack up a lot of residual damage. Deoxys-S is one of the best options in the Uber tier due to its insane Speed stat, access to Taunt, and the choice of Stealth Rock, Spikes, or both. between refers to 2 items Forretress is another fine option, thanks to its amazing typing and Rapid Spin. Unlike Deoxys-S, Forretress also has access to Toxic Spikes, which allow it to cripple grounded walls such as Groudon and Blissey.</p>

[Team Options]

<p>As Quagsire has a nasty 4x weakness to Grass-type moves, a partner who has a resistance to Grass should be chosen. Forretress is an excellent addition to your team, as it can switch into Grass-type moves with its 4x resistance, Rapid Spin, and set up its own entry hazards. Rapid Spin is helpful as it allows Pokemon like Ho-Oh to switch in without losing a large chunk of their health.</p>

<p>Groudon is another good partner, as it acts as a lure to Water-type moves from Pokemon like Kyogre and Palkia, which allows Quagsire to switch in easily and shuffle the opponent's team with status, stacking residual damage. Ho-Oh is another great option, as it can switch into Grass-type moves while luring Water- and Rock-type moves, which Quagsire can switch into.</p>

<p>Status moves cause major problems for Quagsire; poison will drain its health until it becomes unusable, burns will make Ice Punch or Brick Break useless, while sleep will leave Quagsire vulnerable to set up on. A status absorber or cleric is needed to overcome this. Blissey is an ideal partner, as she can rid the team of status effects with Aromatherapy, while Natural Cure can cure her upon switching out. However, Blissey should watch out for users of Trick and Taunt, as these will stop her from supporting the team.</p>

<p>Set-up sweepers are great additions to a team with Quagsire as they can switch into moves they resist or have an immunity to. this is true of almost everything, elaborate? For example, Dragon Dance Rayquaza is able to switch into any Ground-type move with an immunity and get at least one boost while the opponent switches out. Giratina-O is another option, as it bears immunity to Normal-, Fighting-, and Ground-type attacks, and can use these to set up Substitute and Calm Mind.</p>

[Optional Changes]

<p>Quagsire has a few usable options; however it lacks the space to use these moves. Icy Wind can lower an opponent's Speed, allowing you to bring in a Pokemon to revenge kill it. Earthquake may be used to hit Heatran (who shuts Quagsire down with Taunt) and Dialga super effectively, while gaining a boost from STAB.</p>

[Counters]

<p>Faster Pokemon with Taunt will cause problems for Quagsire, as they will stop it from using Encore, Yawn, and Toxic.

RestTalkers such as Dialga are effective at countering Quagsire as sleep status won't cause [color=#FF00F#]them any[/color] problems, while poison can be Rested off. However, RestTalkers should beware of Encore, as Quagsire can lock a Pokemon into Sleep Talk while it wakes up.</p>

<p>Shaymin-S can switch into an Encore or weak Brick Break and OHKO Quagsire with Seed Flare or set up Substitute from its respectable HP stat. Any Grass-type move with a considerable amount of power behind it will cause problems for Quagsire. Latias, Latios, and Deoxys can all use Grass Knot to hit Quagsire with 80 Base Power, which will deal large amounts of damage due to their high offensive stats.</p>

nice work, eheh, quagsire's so cute :3

Just a thought, is protect a possibility on Quagsire? It works with Yawn and ensure the yawned opponent can't attack you, maybe over toxic?

Using Protect is mostly pointless, most players won't keep a drowsy Pokemon in to sleep(unless it's a RestTalker, which makes Protect a wasted turn anyway). Also, putting it over Toxic is even worse. Without Toxic, Quagsire is almost worthless as it needs to cripple a Pokemon switching out from Yawn (helps you deal with bulky opponents mostly). Relying on sleep isn't the best idea because after you Encore an opponent (and possibly Yawn) Quagsire will be doing nothing with Protect, whereas you can cripple a switching opponent with Toxic. Overall it's a bad idea.

Here's a log that includes our nitpicks and quality control etc.
[3:45pm] Theorymon: okay I am gonna check over Quagsire right now, you 2 care to join me?
[3:50pm] Theorymon: okay I just read over Quagsire, anyone else read it over yet? I feel there are a few issues, but I want you two to look over it first before I mention them
[3:51pm] Theorymon: anyone here?
[3:52pm] ibojangles: yeah sorry
[3:53pm] Theorymon: tell me when you read it all
[3:54pm] ibojangles: i'll go look at quagsire
[3:55pm] ibojangles: uh there are no calculations
[3:56pm] ibojangles: like it says 'helps it survive special attacks', but what
[3:56pm] Theorymon: yeah that was one of the issues
[3:56pm] Theorymon: another one is that there is a paragraph about using it with set up sweepers that seems sort of... tacked on tbh
[3:57pm] Theorymon: also I think he might want to mention spin blockers, since entry hazards are pretty important for Quagsire
[3:57pm] Theorymon: (Giratina-O, Giratina, Gengar)
[3:57pm] Jibaku: hmm
[3:58pm] Jibaku: I didn't notice this channel for a bit sorry
[3:58pm] Jibaku: anyways
[3:58pm] Theorymon: also he only mentions Forretress for the 4x grass resist, theres Skarmory, Skymin, Dialga, and Rayquaza too to just name a few!
[3:58pm] Jibaku: I don't really consider gengar too much of a spinblocker tbh because if it gets Paybacked on the switch it's dead
[3:59pm] Theorymon: hmm yeah I guess so
[3:59pm] ibojangles: gengar should only be used as a spin blocker if its already on the team
[3:59pm] ibojangles: if you just need a spinblocker, a giratina forme is much better
[4:00pm] Theorymon: well sometimes, I have found myself using Gengar like that because Giratina-O is sometimes too slow
[4:00pm] Jibaku: I mean in the rain poor Gengar gets massacred lol
[4:00pm] Theorymon: yeah fuck the rain
[4:00pm] ibojangles: imo gengar is a great checking pokemon
[4:00pm] ibojangles: but spin blocking is risky for the reason jibaku described
[4:00pm] Theorymon: well anyways at least Giratina and Giratina-O need to be mentioned
<snip>
[4:07pm] Jibaku: oh yeha
[4:08pm] Theorymon: btw I already talked to locopoke, and he said he doesnt have anymore to add to Quagsire
[4:08pm] Jibaku: okay we need
[4:09pm] Jibaku: damage calcs
[4:09pm] Theorymon: hmmm what else...
[4:09pm] Theorymon: more grass resists
[4:09pm] Jibaku: like Palkia's Spacial Rend
[4:09pm] Theorymon: spin blockers
[4:09pm] Jibaku: I think Forretress was singled out there because it provided entry hazards
[4:09pm] Theorymon: SKARMORY!
[4:09pm] Jibaku: yeah that works too
[4:10pm] Theorymon: I feel that the set up sweepers paragraph in the team options section can go
[4:11pm] Jibaku: yeah
[4:11pm] Jibaku: Quagsire isn't a wobb
[4:12pm] ibojangles: yeah if you leave the analysis page thinking quag is like wobb then its doing its job wrong
[4:12pm] Theorymon: since hes talking about luring in water moves, he MIGHT want to mention more things that lure in Kyogre, like maybe Scizor
[4:13pm] Theorymon: bojangles do you mind making the post? since me and Jibaku have already posted in that thread
[4:13pm] Theorymon: anyways
[4:13pm] ibojangles: should i just post this convo with the irrelevant parts snipped out?
[4:13pm] Theorymon: sure
[4:14pm] Theorymon: not yet though I have more to nitpick!
[4:14pm] Jibaku: hmm
[4:14pm] Jibaku: you can also mention that powerful attackers that are immune to toxic can give Quagsire problems
[4:15pm] Jibaku: in certain cases they can swap to their Sleep Talker to take the Yawn
[4:15pm] Theorymon: he should mention Heatran as a teammate
[4:15pm] Theorymon: well Quagsire can encore!
[4:15pm] Jibaku: that's why I said powerful attackers!
[4:15pm] Theorymon: oh
[4:16pm] Jibaku: stuff like Lucario
[4:16pm] Theorymon: hmm actually a lot of attackers give Quagsire problems, its sort of hard to get spefic there lol
[4:16pm] Jibaku: (lol a ground type being countered by a defenseless steel type)
[4:16pm] Theorymon: well without getting really long
[4:16pm] Theorymon: HEATRAN
[4:16pm] Theorymon: well that and again, Heatran REALLY needs to be mentioned as a teammate
[4:17pm] Jibaku: okay
[4:17pm] Theorymon: Heatran has a 4x grass resist, AND attacks water moves like a magnet
[4:17pm] Theorymon: attracts*
[4:17pm] Jibaku: yea
[4:18pm] Theorymon: in the cleric paragraph, Celebi should be added
[4:18pm] Theorymon: (Celebi also resists grass wheee)
[4:19pm] Theorymon: oh yeah if Quagsire uses Encore or Recover, Taunt Mewtwo switch-ins are gonna be hell
[4:19pm] Theorymon: same deal with Mew
[4:19pm] Jibaku: anything with taunt
[4:20pm] ibojangles: especially if they have stat-up moves too, which most do
[4:20pm] Jibaku: although, not many things have taunt + stat up
[4:20pm] Theorymon: "A Pokemon to set up entry hazards is a huge bonus," I dont like this sentence, because I feel that entry hazards are REALLY important for Quagsire
[4:20pm] Theorymon: its basicly Mewtwo, Mew, and sometimes TTar
[4:21pm] ibojangles: i mean if it carries taunt it has a good chance of having a stat-up move
[4:21pm] Jibaku: "A Pokemon to set up entry hazards is a requirement"
[4:21pm] Jibaku: ibo: Heatran!
[4:21pm] ibojangles: i didnt say all
[4:21pm] Theorymon: yes there we go
[4:21pm] Theorymon: oh Heatran is another one
[4:21pm] Jibaku: we keep saying heatran
[4:21pm] Theorymon: hmm in team options, maybe there should be another paragraph for speific problems like taunt whatever
[4:21pm] Jibaku: it keeps on falling into our categories
[4:22pm] Theorymon: Heatran and Quagsire love eachother and hate each other
[4:22pm] Jibaku: it counters quagsire, it's a good partner to quagsire, and it's a set up less taunter
[4:22pm] Theorymon: oh what Icy Wind is in optional changes
[4:23pm] Theorymon: that should probably be removed
[4:24pm] Jibaku: well
[4:24pm] Jibaku: Icy Wind lowers Mewtwo's Speed
[4:24pm] Jibaku: so...that might be handy....
[4:24pm] Theorymon: Ice Punch and Brick Break should be mentioned in optional changes, they arent even in the set comments anymore
[4:26pm] Jibaku: "Latias, Latios, and Deoxys can all use Grass Knot to hit Quagsire with 80 Base Power, which will deal large amounts of damage due to their high offensive stats"
[4:26pm] Theorymon: more like OHKO I bet lol
[4:26pm] Jibaku: also Deoxys -> Deoxys-A
[4:26pm] Theorymon: yeah Deoxys-N isnt usually gonna bother with Grass Knot
[4:27pm] Jibaku: lol
[4:27pm] Jibaku: Deoxys-A countering something....
[4:29pm] Theorymon: wow thats amazaing
[4:29pm] Theorymon: Deoxys-A the hard Quagsire counter (well MOST of the time!)
[4:31pm] Theorymon: hmm what else can we nitpick...
[4:35pm] Theorymon: hmm okay lets make an easy list so ibo can easily post it
[4:35pm] Theorymon: 1. needs damage calcs
[4:36pm] Theorymon: 2. get that paragraph about set up sweepers out ot team options
[4:36pm] Theorymon: well delete it I mean
[4:36pm] Theorymon: 3. dont talk about entry hazards as a bonus for Quagsire, talk about them as if they are important to Quagsire's success
[4:37pm] ibojangles: required pretty much
[4:38pm] Theorymon: 4. mention spin blockers in team options
[4:39pm] Theorymon: 5. mention more grass resists in team options, ESPECIALLY Skarmory!
[4:39pm] Theorymon: 6. mention Celebi in the clerics paragraph
[4:41pm] Theorymon: 7. MENTION HEATRAN AS A TEAMMATE! it has a 4x resist to grass AND lures water moves in
[4:42pm] Theorymon: 8. have a paragraph about how the Mewtwo, Mew, and some TTar can give you problems with taunt, and how to deal with them in team options
[4:42pm] Theorymon: oh and Heatran is another problem with taunt
[4:43pm] Theorymon: [16:15] <&Jibaku> you can also mention that powerful attackers that are immune to toxic can give Quagsire problems
[4:43pm] Theorymon: [16:15] <&Jibaku> in certain cases they can swap to their Sleep Talker to take the Yawn
[4:44pm] Jibaku: oh
[4:44pm] Jibaku: how fast is Quagsire
[4:44pm] Theorymon: 10. Mention Brick Break and Ice Punch in other options
[4:44pm] Theorymon: faster than Wobbuffet
[4:44pm] Theorymon: but Wobbuffet WILL own you if you dont have Shed Shell lol
[4:44pm] Jibaku: yeah
[4:44pm] Jibaku: let's mention that
[4:45pm] Theorymon: 11. mention Wobbuffet has a huge problem without Shed Shell in team options
[4:45pm] Theorymon: *as
[4:47pm] Theorymon: 12. remove Icy Wind from Optional Changes
[4:49pm] Theorymon: 13. replace the Deoxys mention with Deoxys-A

Thanks Bojangles, I'll work on this as soon as possible. Just a checklist below for my own reference.

1. damage calcs (Kyogre Ice Beam etc)
2. remove paragraph about "set up sweepers" (done)
3. emphasize how important entry hazards are for Quagsire
4. mention spin blockers (Giratina / Giratina-O)

5. mention that Heatran is a good partner as it resists Grass and lures Water moves (done)
6. mention Skarmory as Grass resist and how it sets up entry hazards (done)
7. mention Celebi as a cleric (done)
8. mention Brick Break / Ice Punch in other options (done)
9. mention that Wobbuffet is a problem without shed shell
10. remove Icy Wind (done)
11. Replace Deoxys with Deoxys-A (done)

Alright, this only needs one some final grammar checks, and then its uploading time!

Encore, Toxic, and Yawn give Quagsire an effective support movepool, which can be used to success due causing (the "due causing" before this doesn't fit with the rest of the sentence) switches and statusing opponents. This can be extremely helpful when used in conjunction with entry hazards, such as Stealth Rock and Spikes. Quagsire's main downfall is its low offensive power. This makes it an easy Pokemon to set up against, and it's especially vulnerable to Pokemon with Taunt.</p>

[SET]
name: Uber Support
move 1: Toxic
move 2: Yawn
move 3: Encore
move 4: Recover
item: Leftovers
ability: Water Absorb
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[Set Comments]

<p>Quagsire's excellent typing, above average HP stat, and Water Absorb ability make it a solid support Pokemon in Ubers. Quagsire is an excellent counter to all Kyogre sets due to its immunity to the Water- and Electric-type moves Kyogre throws around. If Kyogre tries to set up Calm Mind or Substitute, Quagsire can cripple it with Encore and force it to switch out. However, many Kyogre use Choice items, forcing them to switch out immediately.</p>

<p>Encore is a staple on this set, as it allows Quagsire to cripple any Pokemon who tries to set up, like Rock Polish Groudon. Not only that, but it's also helpful because it forces Pokemon such as Kyogre to use Ice Beam repeatedly, which allows you to bring in a Pokemon who will take little damage from it.

<ul class="damage_calculation">
<li>252 SpA Timid Choice Scarf Kyogre Ice Beam = 27.4% - 32.5%</li>
<li>252 SpA Hasty Palkia Choice Scarf Spatial Rend = 43.4% - 51.3%</li>
<li>252 SpA Timid Dialga Choice Scarf Dragon Pulse = 39.1% - 46.4%</li>

<p>A Pokemon to set up entry hazards is a neccessity (necessity), as Quagsire's ability to cause switches with both Yawn and Encore will rack up a lot of residual damage. Skarmory is another excellent choice as it can switch into Pokemon like Choiced Shaymin-S or Rayquaza locked into Outrage, then it can proceed with Spikes or Stealth Rock.</p>

Rapid Spin is helpful as it allows Pokemon like Ho-Oh to switch in without losing a large chunk of their health. Dialga is another great partner who can switch into Grass-type attacks, while it poses an immediate threat with STAB Draco Meteor.</p>

<p>A Pokemon that acts as a lure to Water-type moves from Pokemon like Kyogre and Palkia should be considered, as it allows Quagsire to switch in easily and shuffle the opponent's team with status, stacking residual damage. Ho-Oh is a great option, as it can switch into Grass-type moves while luring Water- and Rock-type moves, which Quagsire can switch into. Groudon is another excellent lure for Water-type moves, though it shares a weakness to Grass-type moves. Finally, Heatran is an excellent choice as it can switch into Grass-type attacks from the likes of Shaymin-S, while it lures Water-type attacks from Kyogre and Palkia.</p>

However, Blissey should watch out for users of Trick and Taunt as these will stop her from supporting the team.

<p>Wobbuffet will cause problems for Quagsire if you aren't using a Shed Shell, as it traps you with Shadow Tag and forces you to repeat a status move while the opponent switches to a powerful attacker, like Scizor into Toxic, or worst case the opponent may set up Safeguard and bring in Rayquaza to set up Dragon Dance or Groudon with Swords Dance. As Wobbuffet doesn't have a true counter, you must rely on prediction and lure it into Pokemon that may carry Choice items like Palkia or Dialga.</p>

[Optional Changes]
<h4>Uber</h4>
<p>Quagsire has a few usable options; however it lacks the space to use these moves.

<p>Faster Pokemon with Taunt will cause problems for Quagsire, as they will stop it from using Encore, Yawn, and Toxic.

However, RestTalkers should beware of Encore as Quagsire can lock a Pokemon into Sleep Talk while it wakes up.</p>

Some minor nitpicks in bold. Also I'm unsure if RestTalkers can be spelled as one word or two separate words.

This makes it an easy Pokemon to set up against, and it's especially vulnerable to Pokemon with Taunt.</p>

<ul class="damage_calculation">
<li>252 SpA Timid Choice Scarf Kyogre Ice Beam = 27.4% - 32.5%</li>
<li>252 SpA Hasty Palkia Choice Scarf Spatial Rend = 43.4% - 51.3%</li>
<li>252 SpA Timid Dialga Choice Scarf Dragon Pulse = 39.1% - 46.4%</li>
