[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o's access to an array of viable moves and good mixed attacking stats make it one of the tier's most versatile Pokemon, as it can serve as a sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, or wallbreaker. Its Dragon / Fighting typing and ability Bulletproof give it a unique set of resistances, that allows it to check Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Krookodile. It also has access to boosting moves in Dragon Dance and Swords Dance alongside a great base Defense and Special Defense, which give it many opportunities to set up and make it difficult to revenge kill. Kommo-o's excellent STAB combination and access to coverage moves like Poison Jab, Flamethrower, and Ice Punch make it difficult to switch into and let it hit the entire tier super effectively or neutrally. However, Kommo-o's average base Attack and Special Attack stats make it difficult to nab OHKOs without using a Z-Move, even with a boost. Kommo-o is susceptible to being revenge killed, as it is outsped by most Choice Scarf users such as Hydreigon and Latias even at +1 Speed and it also dislikes priority from Scizor and Mamoswine. Its typing also gives it a 4x weakness to Fairy and a 2x weakness to Psychic and Flying, which leaves it vulnerable to some of the tier's best Pokemon in Togekiss, Mega Altaria, Latias, and Mega Aerodactyl.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Drain Punch is an alternative to Close Combat that improves Kommo-o's longevity. It increases setup opportunities by recovering from some of the damage it takes while using Dragon Dance while also avoiding the Defense and Special Defense drop from Close Combat. However, it is significantly weaker than Close Combat. Poison Jab nails Fairy-types that resist Kommo-o's STAB moves, such as Mega Altaria, Primarina, and Togekiss. Ice Punch hits some of the aforementioned Fairy-types while also allowing it to hit Flying- and Dragon-types like Crobat and Latias without using its Z-Move or locking itself into Outrage. However, it fails to hit Sylveon, Florges, and Primarina for super effective damage.

Set Details
========

Bulletproof provides Kommo-o with an immunity to moves like Shadow Ball and Gyro Ball, letting it counter Chandelure and Stakataka and giving it more setup opportunities. Gengar is another example, but Kommo-o can take heavy damage from a fast Never-Ending Nightmare or Sludge Wave. Soundproof grants an immunity to Roar and Sylveon and Mega Altaria's Hyper Voice, but it is less useful than Bulletproof, as offensive teams prefer Kommo-o's ability to deal with Chandelure and Stakataka. Also, Sylveon and Mega Altaria may respectively opt to run Moonblast and Return to circumvent Soundproof. Dragonium Z turns outrage into Devastating Drake, a powerful Dragon-type attack that doesn't lock Kommo-o into Outrage. +1 Devastating Drake OHKOes Celebi, Tentacruel, and Suicune after Stealth Rock while also dealing a large amount of damage to Slowbro. Fightinium Z secures the OHKO on Mega Steelix and Klefki at +1 while also doing significant damage to Mega Aggron. However, opting for Fightinium Z forces Kommo-o to completely rely on and get locked into Outrage, which isn't ideal against Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latias and Chandelure. Life Orb boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and secures the KO on Fairy-types like Choice Specs Primarina and Togekiss after Stealth Rock with Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Use Kommo-o's large bulk and good typing to set up on resisted hits and proceed to sweep mid- or late-game. For example, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Mega Manectric are some Pokemon that are helpless against it. Kommo-o can also set up on neutral hits from Pokemon like Cobalion and Krookodile, but only do so if there are no easier targets. Be wary of status moves and secondary effects from Pokemon that you might set up on, such as Scald burns and Toxic from Swampert and Empoleon as well as Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-H and Chandelure. Try to avoid switching Kommo-o in early to take hits if it cannot immediately punish the opponent, as chip damage hampers its ability to set up later and puts it in range of Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mamoswine's Ice Shard. In a pinch, Kommo-o can set up on weak super effective hits such as Mega Aerodactyl's Wing Attack and Starmie's Psyshock, since it avoids the OHKO from these attacks. Avoid using Outrage after using Devastating Drake unless absolutely needed or if Steel- and Fairy-types are KOed.

Team Options
========

Steel-types are excellent partners, as they resist everything Kommo-o is weak to. Scizor and Mega Aggron are some partners that can take advantage of the Fairy-, Dragon-, and Flying-types that threaten Kommo-o. Fairy-type checks are crucial when using Kommo-o. In addition to the aforementioned Steel-types, Poison-types like Gengar and Nihilego can take on most Fairy-types and threaten them with a powerful Sludge Wave. Pokemon that punish Choice Scarf Hydreigon and Latias, such as Cobalion, Scizor, and Primarina, make for good partners. Spikes support from Klefki puts Kommo-o's grounded Fairy-type checks into KO range faster, and Klefki is also capable of checking Hydreigon and Latias very well. Prankster Thunder Wave can also create setup opportunities later on. Kommo-o punishes Fire-types that come in on Klefki, too. Toxic Spikes support from Nidoking, Nihilego, and Tentacruel can also help wear Kommo-o's checks down. These Pokemon can also switch into the Fairy-types Kommo-o draws in like Primarina and Klefki. Pokemon that can lure Choice Scarf Krookodile like Nihilego and Gengar provide Kommo-o with free setup opportunities if it opts to Pursuit trap them or use Knock Off.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Flamethrower OHKOes Scizor and hits physically defensive Steel-types like Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix harder while avoiding Close Combat's stat drops. Stealth Rock is a powerful move that Kommo-o excels at using due to its bulk and ability to force many Pokemon out. Taunt denies recovery and status moves from bulky Pokemon like Alomomola, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. It also can stop slower Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Hippowdon from setting hazards. Work Up is an alternative that boosts both Kommo-o's Attack and Special Attack, which bolsters its wallbreaking capabilities.

Set Details
========

Life Orb is the preferred item, as it boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and does not take up the Z-Move slot, but Dragonium Z is an option to give a powerful Dragon-type nuke that also avoids dropping its Defense. Bulletproof lets Kommo-o serve as an offensive counter to Chandelure and Stakataka as well as punish Gengar if it is locked into Shadow Ball.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Kommo-o in early on a Pokemon it checks such as Chandelure and Empoleon, to dish out damage as soon as possible. VoltTurn users are also great for bringing in Kommo-o unscathed. Spam Clanging Scales as much as possible if the opponent's team does not have a Fairy-type. If the opposing team does have a Fairy-type like Primarina or Togekiss, try and predict it to switch in and hit it with Poison Jab for a 2HKO. If running Stealth Rock, use Kommo-o's great bulk and typing to find an opportunity to set it early. Kommo-o has a great matchup against most Stealth Rock users, such as Swampert and Empoleon, so leading with it to prevent the opponent's hazards with Taunt is a good idea. Unleash a Devastating Drake on any team lacking a Fairy-type when presented with the opportunity. Be wary, however, that it fails to nab OHKOs on Pokemon like Hippowdon and Alomomola, so they may simply heal off the damage.

Team Options
========

Sweepers that appreciate Kommo-o luring in Fairy-types and taking them out with Poison Jab, such as Mega Sharpedo and Lucario, make for good partners. Other sweepers, like Swords Dance Cobalion and Scizor, that struggle against Fire- and bulky Water-types pair nicely with Kommo-o. Kommo-o appreciates Volt Switch support from Mega Manectric and Rotom-H, since they help it pivot in safely and resist Flying-type attacks that threaten Kommo-o. Kommo-o struggles against Fairy-types, so Nidoking and Nihilego partner well with it, as they can switch into most Fairy-type attacks easily. However, they have to be wary coverage moves such as Mega Altaria's Earthquake and Primarina's Hydro Pump. Stakataka can set up Trick Room and proceed to sweep, especially if Choice Specs Primarina locks itself into Moonblast. Spikes support from Klefki and Stealth Rock support from Pokemon like Hippowdon and Mega Aggron help Kommo-o power through bulky Pokemon.

[SET]

move 4: Outrage

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance boosts Kommo's Attack two stages, turning it into a terrifying wallbreaker. Poison Jab can be used instead of Swords Dance to round out its coverage by hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Set Details
========

Dragonium Z lets Kommo-o unleash an extremely powerful Dragon-type attack without locking itself into Outrage. It is particularly useful for Fighting-immune or -resistant foes, such as Chandelure and Amoonguss. Bulletproof makes Kommo-o an excellent offensive check to Stakataka, Chandelure, and Choice-locked Gengar due to its immunity to Gyro Ball and Shadow Ball. Soundproof is an option to prevent Sylveon and Hyper Voice Mega Altaria from coming in freely, but Kommo-o needs to boost multiple times to actually threaten them without Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Kommo-o's amazing bulk to bring it in early and set up Stealth Rock. Tier staples like Empoleon, Mega Manectric, and Krookodile are some Pokemon it can take advantage of to set Stealth Rock. Once Stealth Rock is set, start firing off strong attacks. Kommo-o hits hard enough even without a Swords Dance boost, so sometimes firing an unboosted Devastating Drake on frailer Pokemon like Chandelure is a fine play. If the opponent has a Fairy-type such as Togekiss or Mega Altaria, try to predict their switch in and make a double switch after bringing in Kommo-o. Use Swords Dance against more defensive teams lacking a bulky Fairy-type and begin punching holes in their team. Don't waste a turn setting up if they do have one. Avoid locking Kommo-o into Outrage if the opponent has a Pokemon that can set up on it, namely the tier's Steel-type sweepers such as Swords Dance Scizor and Swords Dance Cobalion.

Team Options
========

This set fits well on offensive teams looking for a reliable Stealth Rock user that can check threats to offense such as Mega Manectric, Chandelure, and Stakataka while also dishing out damage. A solid Fairy-type answer is a must, since this set invites the majority of them in. Mega Aggron and Scizor are excellent partners that take most Fairy-types on, with notable examples being Mega Altaria, Klefki, and Togekiss. Other Steel-types, such as Empoleon and Klefki, make for good partners as well, since they resist every type Kommo-o is weak to. Empoleon gets a special mention as a Steel-type that can switch into Primarina. Mega Aerodactyl takes on Flying-types like Crobat, Togekiss, and Mega Pidgeot trying to revenge kill Kommo-o. Pursuit trappers like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Alolan Muk can trap faster Psychic-types such as Latias, Starmie, and Celebi. Kommo-o often lures in Ground-types such as Swampert and Hippowdon, so sweepers that appreciate them being weakened form an excellent offensive core with it. Some examples are Cobalion, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Substitute + Belly Drum set with Salac Berry is another viable boosting set, since Kommo-o can recover lost health with Drain Punch. However, even with +1 Speed, it is outsped by common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Latias. A set with Autotomize, Focus Blast, Clanging Scales, and Flash Cannon with Life Orb can serve as a late-game cleaner against offensive teams. However, without a way to boost its Special Attack, it struggles to obtain KOs against bulkier Pokemon like Florges, Sylveon, and Hippowdon. Kommo-o can wield both Choice Band and Choice Specs effectively. The Choice Specs set can run Overcoat with Sleep Talk to serve as a great pivot into Amoonguss, but the Choice Band set prefers Bulletproof, since getting locked into Outrage from Sleep Talk can be disastrous. A defensive set with Rest + Sleep Talk is an option for defensive teams looking for a counter to Crawdaunt and Calm Mind Chandelure. However, Rest is an unreliable form of recovery, and it faces competition from Chesnaught and Mega Altaria, which check similar Pokemon. Kommo-o can also run Overcoat, which is useful for pivoting into Amoonguss's Spore. However, it is useless in every other matchup.

Kommo-o has a number of alternate yet viable attack moves. Earthquake on Dragon Dance sets is useful to nail Doublade and Klefki while also hitting Primarina for neutral damage but leaves Kommo-o helpless against other Fairy-types. Iron Tail is Kommo-o's strongest move to hit Fairy-types, but it suffers from unreliable accuracy. Draco Meteor is Kommo-o's most power STAB move and can be used on mixed or special sets, but it is not as spammable as Clanging Scales due to the Special Attack drop. Lum Berry can be used on Dragon Dance sets to mitigate Scald burns, confusion from Outrage, and Toxic from Pokemon like Empoleon and Blissey. It sorely misses a Z-Move, however.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, Primarina, and Sylveon, can switch into both of Kommo-o's STAB moves and avoid the OHKO from its coverage moves while easily OHKOing it back. However, Kommo-o does outspeed all of them and can thus power through if carrying Poison Jab or Flash Cannon late-game.

**Faster Dragon-types**: Even after a Dragon Dance, Kommo-o is outsped and OHKOed by Choice Scarf Hydreigon and Latias using Draco Meteor or Psychic.

**Mixed Walls**: Mixed and special sets struggle to break through walls like Hippowdon, Mega Slowbro, Mantine, and Alolan Muk without sustaining heavy damage through Life Orb recoil and their attacks. They all need to be wary of Devastating Drake, however.

**Doublade**: Doublade completely walls and safely uses Swords Dance against the standard Dragon Dance set, as it does not often carry Earthquake. However, it cannot switch into mixed or fully special sets, as it takes significant damage from Clanging Scales and Flamethrower.

**Strong Priority**: While Kommo-o has good physical bulk, both Clanging Scales and Close Combat drop its Defense. Using these moves often puts Kommo-o in range of being killed by Mamoswine's Ice Shard and Scizor's Bullet Punch.

**Unaware Users**: Quagsire and Pyukumuku get a mention for shutting down Dragon Dance sets due to their ability Unaware. Kommo-o's special sets can break through, however, as neither takes Clanging Scales or Focus Blast well.

QC ready. @QC team I have noticed a significant uptick in Moonblast Sylveon, so I am thinking of putting Bulletproof as the primary slash for DD sets. Any thoughts on this?

Reactions: ehT
Added CB/Specs in OO, removed Work Up as a move option and replaced with Taunt, removed Serp/Gliscor mentions, and added Overcoat as a slash. Holding off on Venu mentions until it is confirmed to be not quickbanned.

We took care of the first two sets and overview on discord, so I'll finish up the last set and the remaining sections here since it's been taking a while. Please try implementing this swiftly, my apologies for not having done this earlier.

Set: Stealth Rock
Set/Moves
* Say that Stealth Rock can punish switches by inflicting chip damage on foes.
* Find a more formal way to word your Close Combat line. Give some examples of the move's targets as well.
* Mention Dragonium Z in the Outrage line and list specific targets of the Z-Move.
* I'd add Poison Jab in as a Moves mention to hit Fairy-types but be sure to say that the overall coverage it offers isn't as valuable as Kommo-o's STAB attacks.

Set Details
* List Z-Outrage targets to illustrate why it's Kommo-o's best item option.

Usage Tips
* I don't love the 'taking the majority of the tier 1v1' section of this first sentence, so just restructure the overall line to illustrate that Kommo-o can utilize its typing and bulk to come in on a lot of tier staples and set Stealth Rock.
* 'Others Fairy-types, like Klefki and Choice Specs Primarina, don't take Close Combats very well, so feel free to spam it.' - Choice Specs Primarina needs to be weakened anyway for CC to do considerable damage, so I'd remove this line.

Other Options
* Put SubBD at the top of this list, as it's one of the better options in this section.
* Remove the Poisonium/Steelium line and the Thunder Punch line. Neither is good enough in comparison to the rest of what's here to warrant staying listed.

Checks and Counters
* Change 'Bulky Pokémon not weak to Kommo-o's STABS idk a better name for this' to 'Mixed Walls'

1/3, again sorry this took so long

[OVERVIEW]

  • Kommo-o's access to an array of viable moves and good mixed attacking stats make it one of the tier's most versatile Pokemon, as it can serve as a sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, or a wallbreaker.
  • Its Dragon and Fighting typing and Bulletproof ability give it a unique set of resistances, which allow Kommo-o to check Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Krookodile.
  • Access to boosting moves in Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, and Automize and a great base Defense and Special Defense give it many opportunities to set up and difficult to revenge kill.
  • Excellent Dragon / Fighting STAB moves and access to coverage moves like Poison Jab, Flamethrower, and Ice Punch make it difficult to switch into and let Kommo-o hit the entire tier super effectively or neutrally.
  • Average base Special Attack and Attack make it difficult to nab OHKOs without using a Z-move, even with a boost.
  • Kommo-o is outsped by most Choice Scarf users such as Hydreigon and Latias, making it susceptible to revenge killing after one Dragon Dance. Mention here that it also dislikes priority from Scizor and Mamoswine.
  • A 4x weakness to Fairy-types and 2x weakness to Psychic- and Flying-types leave it vulnerable to some of the tier's best Pokemon (Lati, M-Aero, M-Alt, Toge, Prim).

Moves
========

  • Dragon Dance boosts Kommo-o's Speed and Attack, letting it sweep late game.
  • Outrage is its strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, hitting Fighting-type resists like Celebi, Chandelure, Gengar, and Tentacruel for the most damage.
  • Close Combat is a reliable Fighting-type STAB attack, which allows Kommo-o to break through Steel-types in Cobalion, Mega Aggron, and Scizor.
  • Drain Punch improves longevity and increases setup opportunities by recovering from damage it takes while Dragon Dancing and avoiding the Defense and Special Defense drop from Close Combat. Loss of power is notable.
  • Ice Punch nails Mega Altaria and Togekiss, which resist Kommo-o's STAB moves. It also hits Flying- and Dragon-types, such as Latias and Crobat, without being locked into Outrage.
  • Poison Jab hits the aforementioned Fairy-types while also hitting Primarina. It also hits Sylveon for 2x damage, but Soundproof lets Kommo-o wall most Sylveon sets due to its Hyper Voice immunity.
Set Details
========

  • Maximum Speed and Attack investment and a Jolly nature are mandatory to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding the entire unboosted metagame at +1 while speed tying Heracross and Nidoking without a boost.
  • Bulletproof lets Kommo-o counter Chandelure and Stakataka with Shadow Ball and Gyro Ball immunities, giving it some more setup opportunities. (mention Gengar here as well)
  • Soundproof grants an immunity to Roar and Sylveon and Mega Altaria's Hyper Voice, but is less useful than Bulletproof as offensive teams prefer its ability to check the aforementioned Pokemon. Also, Sylveon and Mega Altaria may opt to run Moonblast to circumvent Soundproof.
  • Overcoat is also an option to pivot into Amoonguss, but it is less useful as it reduces setup opportunities. (remove this and put it in other options)
  • Dragonium Z gives a powerful Dragon-type attack without having to be locked into Outrage. OHKOs Celebi, Tentacruel, and Suicune after Stealth Rock while dealing big boy damage to Slowbro. (specify that this is after a dragon dance, also mention that it allows you to use a dragon-type move without locking yourself in)
  • Fightinium Z secures the OHKO on Mega Steelix, Scizor, and Klefki at +1 while also doing significant damage to Mega Aggron. However, you're forced to Outrage on Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latias and Chandelure. (I don't really think Scizor's the best mention here because offensive variants guaranteed die after Spikes or Rocks
  • Life Orb boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and nabs the KO on Fairy-types like Choice Specs Primarina and Togekiss after Stealth Rock with Poison Jab.
Usage Tips
========

  • Use Kommo-o's large bulk and good typing to set up on resisted hits proceed to sweep mid or late game. For example, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Mega Manectric are some Pokemon that are helpless against it.
  • Kommo-o can also set up on neutral hits from Pokemon like Cobalion and Krookodile, but only do so if there are no easier targets.
  • Be wary of status moves from Pokemon that you might set up on, such as Toxic on Swampert and Hippowdon. (Also Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-H, also mention Empoleon in the list of Toxic users)
  • Try to avoid a witching (switching?) Kommo-o in early to take hits if it cannot immediately punish the opponent. Chip damage hampers its ability to set up later. (Also mention that it can be put in range of priority if it takes even like 50%, since then it can die to CB Scizor and guaranteed dies to Ice Shard from Mamoswine)
  • In a pinch, Kommo-o can set up on weak super effective hit such as Mega Aerodactyl's Wing Attack and Starmie's Psyshock since it avoids the OHKO from these attacks.
  • Avoid using Outrage unless absolutely needed or if Steel- and Fairy-types are KOed.
Team Options
========

  • Steel-types are excellent partners, as they resist everything Kommo-o is weak to. Scizor, Cobalion, Mega Aggron are some partners that can take advantage of the Fairy-, Dragon-, and Flying-types that threaten Kommo-o.
  • Fairy-type checks are crucial when using Kommo-o. In addition to the aforementioned Steel-types, Poison-types like Gengar and Nihilego can take on most Fairy-types and threaten them with a powerful Sludge Wave.
  • Pokemon that punish Choice Scarf Hydreigon and Latias, such as Cobalion, Scizor, and Primarina, make for good partners.
  • Spikes support from Klefki put its grounded Fairy-type checks into KO range faster while checking Hyreigon and Latias very well. Kommo-o punishes Fire-types that come in on Klefki, too. (Also mention that Klefki can paralyze stuff to potentially give Kommo-o more setup opportunities)
  • Toxic Spikes support from Nidoking, Nihilego, and Tentacruel also help. They can also switch into the Fairy-types Kommo-o draws in like Primarina and Klefki.
  • Pokemon luring in Choice Scarf Krookodile like Latias or Gengar provide setup opportunities. (Elaborate a little more on this.)

Moves
========

  • Clanging Scales is a spammable, high base power Dragon-type STAB attack, which avoids the drop in Special Attack from Draco Meteor.
  • Close Combat hits decently hard even without Attack investment, and it nails the Steel-types and special walls that can take Clanging Scales like Empoleon, Blissey, Klefki, and Muk-Alola.
  • Poison Jab rounds out Kommo-o's STAB coverage by nailing Fairy-types like Primarina, Togekiss, and Mega Altaria for super effective damage.
  • Flamethrower OHKOs Scizor and hits physically defensive Steel-types in Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix harder while avoiding Close Combat's drops.
  • Taunt denies recovery and snuffs status moves from bulky Pokemon like Alomomola, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. It also can stop slower Stealth Rock users from setting hazards like Swampert and Hippowdon.
  • Stealth Rock is a powerful move that Kommo-o excels at using due to its bulk and ability to force many Pokemon out. Switch this line with Taunt, since Stealth Rock is slashed before Taunt on the set.)
  • Work Up boosts both Kommo-o's Attack and Special Attack to bolster its wallbreaking capabilities.
Set Details
========

  • Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Kommo-o outspeed as much as possible while allowing hitting as hard as possible on the special side.
  • A Naive nature is used to avoid dropping Kommo's Attack and to maintain its high Defense.
  • Most of Close Combat's targets take significant damage without Attack investment. For example, Blissey and Empoleon are OHKOd by it with a Life Orb after Stealth Rock damage. (This is really out of place in set details. You could try to find a way to put this into Usage Tips or just remove the line altogether, but it shouldn't be in this section.
  • Dragonium Z gives a powerful Dragon-type nuke that also avoids dropping its Defense.
  • Life Orb boosts all of Kommo-o's moves and does not burn a Z-move.
  • Bulletproof lets Kommo-o serve as an offensive counter to Chandelure, Stakataka, and punish Gengars locked into Shadow Ball.
  • Soundproof is less useful since Roar is not an issue without Dragon Dance, and this set struggles against Fairy-types regardless of a Hyper Voice immunity.
  • Overcoat is a nicher option to allow Kommo-o to pivot into Amoonguss, but it is useless otherwise. (again, put this in other options)
Usage Tips
========

  • Bring Kommo-o in early on one of its resists, such as Chandelure and Empoleon, to dish out damage as soon as possible.
  • Spam Clanging Scales as much as possible if the opponent's team does not have a Fairy-type.
  • Try and predict the Fairy switch in, like Primarina and Togekiss, and hit it with Poison Jab for a 2HKO.
  • If running Stealth Rock, use Kommo-o's great bulk and typing to find an opportunity to set them early. It has a great matchup against most Stealth Rock users, such as Swampert and Empoleon, so leading with it to snuff the opponent's hazards with Taunt is a good idea.
  • Use Close Combat if the opponent switches in a Pokemon to take on Clanging Scales, like Empoleon or Blissey. (This is a pretty obvious thing to
  • Unleash a Devastating Drake on any team lacking a Fairy-type when presented the opportunity. Be wary, however, that it fails to nab OHKOs on Pokemon like Hippowdown and Alomomola, so they may simply heal off the damage.

Team Options
========
  • Sweepers that appreciate Kommo-o luring in Fairy-types with Poison Jab, such as Mega Sharpedo and Lucario, make for good partners.
  • Other sweepers, like Cobalion and Scizor, that struggle against Fire- and bulky Water-types pair nicely with Kommo-o. The mixed set does not fear Scald burns like its Dragon Dance set does.
  • Mega Manectric is a great partner since it provides pivot support while resisting Flying-type attacks that threaten Kommo-o. (Give another example of an electric-type; Rotom-H works pretty well here)
  • When not running Poison Jab, Kommo-o is helpless against any Fairy-type. Nidoking and Nihilego can switch into most Fairy-types easily, but has to be wary of Mega Altaria's Earthquake and Primarina's Hydro Pump. Stakataka can set up Trick Room and proceed to sweep, especially if Choice Specs Primarina locks itself into Moonblast.
  • Mention some hazard setters here like you did for the above set.
  • Give a line dedicated to VoltTurn support. Honestly, you could merge that with the Electric-types line to make the section flow a little better.

Moves
========

  • Stealth Rock is one of the best moves in the game, and Kommo-o is a great offensive user of it. It punishes switches by inflicting chip damage on the opponent's Pokemon.
  • Swords Dance boosts Kommo's Attack two stages, turning it into a terrifying wallbreaker.
  • Close Combat is a high base power Fighting-type STAB move that comes with the drawback of dropping its defenses, and it greatly complements Outrage by nailing Steel-types that resist it.
  • Outrage is a high base power Dragon-type STAB, but it locks Kommo-o into using it for multiple turns. With Dragonium Z, Kommo-o can unleash a strong Devastating Drake on Pokemon like Tentacruel and Chandelure without being locked.
  • Poison Jab rounds out the coverage by hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage, but Kommo-o sorely misses its ability to boost its Attack to break through walls like Alomomola and Hippowdon. (this sentence is a little bit misleading, so specify "Poison Jab can be used instead of Swords Dance to round out the coverage.." or something along those lines)

========

  • Max Attack investment is to hit as hard as possible.
  • Max Speed investment and a Jolly nature is to outspeed base 80s like Chandelure and speed tie other base 85 Speed Pokemon like Nidoking and Heracross.
  • Dragonium Z lets Kommo-o unleash an extremely powerful Dragon-type attack without being locked into Outrage. It is particularly useful for Fighting-type resists, such as Chandelure and Amoonguss.
  • Bulletproof makes Kommo-o an excellent offensive check to Stakataka, Chandelure, and Gengar with a choiced item due to its Gyro Ball and Shadow Ball immunity.
  • Soundproof is an option to prevent Sylveon and Hyper Voice Mega Altaria from coming in freely, but it needs to boost multiple times to actually threaten them.
  • Overcoat is useful for stopping Amoonguss’ Spore, but is useless in any other scenario. (remove, other options)

Usage Tips
========

  • Utilize Kommo-o's amazing bulk to bring it in early and set up Stealth Rock. Tier staples like Swampert, Mega Manectric, and Krookodile are some Pokemon it can use to set Stealth Rock. (I'm a little iffy on the Swampert mention since Kommo-o really doesn't want to get burned, so just remove it. Also, Swampert isn't really a tier staple anymore like it was when you first wrote this.)
  • Once Stealth Rock is used, start firing off strong attacks. Kommo-o hits hard enough even without a Swords Dance, so sometimes firing an unboosted Devastating Drake on frailer Pokemon like Chandelure is a fine play.
  • If the opponent has a Fairy-type such as Togekiss or Mega Altaria, try to predict their switch in and make a double switch after bringing in Kommo-o.
  • Set up a Swords Dance against more defensive teams lacking a bulky Fairy-type and begin punching holes in their team. Don't waste a turn setting up if they do have one.
  • Avoid locking yourself into Outrage if they have a Pokemon that can set up on it, namely the tier's Steel-type sweepers such as Swords Dance Scizor and Swords Dance Cobalion.

Team Options
========

  • This set fits well on offensive teams looking for a reliable Stealth Rock user that can check threats to offense in Mega Manectric, Chandelure, and Stakataka while also dishing out damage.
  • A solid Fairy-type answer is a must, since this set invites the majority of them in. Scizor is an excellent partner that takes most Fairy-types on, such as Mega Altaria, Klefki, and Togekiss. (Also mention Mega Aggron)
  • Other Steel-types, such as Empoleon, Mega Aggron, and Klefki make for good partners as well since they resist every type Kommo-o is weak to. Empoleon gets a special mention as a Steel-type that can switch into Primarina.
  • Mega Aerodactyl takes on Flying-types like Crobat, Togekiss, and Mega Pidgeot trying to revenge kill Kommo-o.
  • Pursuit trappers like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Muk-Alola can trap faster Psychic-types such as Latias, Starmie, and Celebi.
  • Kommo-o often lured bulky Ground-types such as Swampert and Hippowdon, so sweepers that appreciate them being weakened form an excellent offensive core. Some examples are Cobalion, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • A Substitute + Belly Drum set with a Salac Berry is another viable set up set since Kommo-o can recover lost health with Drain Punch. However, even with +1 Speed, it is outsped by common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Latias.
  • A set with Automize, Focus Blast, Clanging Scales, and Flash Cannon with Life Orb can serve as a late-game cleaner against offensive teams. However, without a way to boost its Special Attack, it struggles to obtain KOs against bulkier Pokemon. (give some examples of bulkier pokemon, maybe florges / sylveon and moltres or something along these lines)
  • Kommo-o can wield both Choice Band and Choice Specs effectively. The Choice Specs set can run Overcoat with Sleep Talk to serve as a great pivot into Amoonguss, but the Choice Band set prefers Bulletproof since getting locked into Outrage can be disastrous from a Sleep Talk.
  • A defensive set with Rest + Sleep Talk is an option for defensive teams looking for a counter to Crawdaunt, Calm Mind Chandelure, and Mega Sharpedo. However, Rest is unreliable form of recovery, and it faces competition from Chesnaught and Mega Altaria, which check similar Pokemon.
  • Kommo-o has a number of alternate yet viable attack moves. Earthquake on DD sets is useful to nail Doublade and Klefki while also hitting Primarina for neutral damage but leaves it helpless against other Fairy-types.
  • Iron Tail is Kommo-o's strongest move to hit Fairy-types, but suffers from unreliable accuracy.
  • Draco Meteor on mixed or special sets is Kommo-o's most powerful STAB move, but it is not as spammable as Clanging Scales due to the SpA drop.
  • Mention Lum Berry somewhere here. Can prevent confusion and also gives safer setup opportunites against Scald and Will-O-Wisp users.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, Primarina, and Sylveon, can switch into both of Kommo-o's STABs while avoiding the OHKO from its coverage moves while easily OHKOing back. Kommo-o, however, does outspeed all of them and can thus power through if carrying Poison Jab or Flash Cannon late game.

**Faster Dragon-types**: Even after a Dragon Dance, Kommo-o is outsped and OHKOd by Choice Scarf Hydreigon's and Latias' Draco Meteor or Psychic. Automize sets, however, outspeed both after a single boost.

**Mixed Walls**: Mixed and special sets struggle to break through walls like Hippowdon, Mega Slowbro, Mantine and Muk-Alola without sustaining heavy damage through Life Orb recoil and their attacks. They all need to be wary of Devastating Drake, however.

**Doublade**: Doublade completely walls and sets up Swords Dance on the standard Dragon Dance set, as they do not often carry Earthquake. It cannot switch into mixed or fully special sets, as it takes significant damage from Clanging Scales and Flamethrower.

**Strong priority**: While Kommo-o has good physical bulk, it uses moves that drop its defense in Clanging Scales and Close Combat. Using these moves often put Kommo-o in range of being killed by Mamoswine's Ice Shard or Scizor's Bullet Punch.

**Unaware users**: Quagsire and Pyukumuku get a mention for shutting down Dragon Dance sets due to their Unaware ability. Special sets can break through, as neither take Clanging Scales or Focus Blast well.

[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o's access to an array of viable moves and good mixed attacking stats make it one of the tier's most versatile Pokemon, as it can serve as a sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, or a wallbreaker. Its Dragon and Fighting typing and Bulletproof ability give it a unique set of resistances, which allow Kommo-o to check Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Krookodile. It also has access to boosting moves in Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, and Automize (this is mentioned only in oo so it shouldn’t be mentioned in the overview. also, the move is called Autotomize so fix throughout) and a great base Defense and Special Defense, which give it many opportunities to set up and difficult to revenge kill. Its excellent Dragon / Fighting STAB moves and access to coverage moves like Poison Jab, Flamethrower, and Ice Punch make it difficult to switch into and let Kommo-o hit the entire tier super effectively or neutrally. However, Kommo-o's average base Special Attack and Attack make it difficult to nab OHKOs without using a Z-move, even with a boost. It also is outsped by most Choice Scarf users such as Hydreigon and Latias, and it dislikes priority from Scizor and Mamoswine. Thus, it is susceptible to revenge killing after one Dragon Dance. Its typing also gives it a 4x weakness to Fairy-types and a 2x weakness to Psychic- and Flying-types, which leaves it vulnerable to some of the tier's best Pokemon in Latias, Mega Aerodactyl, and Togekiss. (4x fairy weakness is a huge problem so mention something that runs fairy stab on its main set)

Moves
========

Dragon Dance boosts Kommo-o's Speed and Attack, letting it sweep late game. Outrage is its strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, hitting Fighting-type resists like Celebi, Chandelure, Gengar, and Tentacruel for the most damage. (can also mention it hits a lot of the tier neutrally as well as just fighting resists) Close Combat is a reliable Fighting-type STAB attack, which allows Kommo-o to break through Steel-types in Cobalion, Mega Aggron, and Scizor. Drain Punch is an alternative Fighting-type STAB move that improves Kommo-o's longevity. Ice Punch hits some of the aforementioned Fairy-types while also allowing it to hit Flying-types and Dragon-types like Crobat and Latias without burning a Z-move or locking itself into Outrage. (mention drawbacks of this mainly inability to hit prima and doesn’t hit florges/sylveon super effectively)

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Attack investment and a Jolly nature are mandatory to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding the entire unboosted metagame at +1. Unboosted, Kommo-o speed ties with Heracross and Nidoking. Bulletproof lets Kommo-o counter Chandelure and Stakataka with Shadow Ball and Gyro Ball immunities, giving it some more setup opportunities. Gengar is another target, but Kommo-o can take heavy damage from a fast Never Ending Nightmare or Sludge Wave. Soundproof grants an immunity to Roar and Sylveon's and Mega Altaria's Hyper Voice, but is less useful than Bulletproof as offensive teams prefer its ability to check the aforementioned Pokemon. Also, Sylveon and Mega Altaria may opt to run Moonblast to circumvent Soundproof. (mega altaria doesn’t run moonblast at all, but you can mention physical sets here instead because they also aren’t affected by soundproof) Dragonium Z gives a powerful Dragon-type attack without having to be locked into Outrage. OHKOs Celebi, Tentacruel, and Suicune after Stealth Rock while dealing a large amount of damage to Slowbro after a Dragon Dance. Fightinium Z secures the OHKO on Mega Steelix and Klefki at +1 while also doing significant damage to Mega Aggron. However, Kommo-o is forced to use (and get locked into) Outrage on Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latias and Chandelure. Life Orb boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and nabs the KO on Fairy-types like Choice Specs Primarina and Togekiss after Stealth Rock with Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Use Kommo-o's large bulk and good typing to set up on resisted hits proceed to sweep mid or late game. (think you’re missing a word here) For example, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Mega Manectric are some Pokemon that are helpless against it. Kommo-o can also set up on neutral hits from Pokemon like Cobalion and Krookodile, but only do so if there are no easier targets. Be wary of status moves from Pokemon that you might set up on, such as Toxic on Swampert, Hippowdon, and Empoleon, and Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-H and Chandelure. (can also mention scald here with swampert/empoleon) Try to avoid switching Kommo-o in early to take hits if it cannot immediately punish the opponent. Chip damage hampers its ability to set up later and puts it in range of Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mamoswine's Ice Shard. In a pinch, Kommo-o can set up on weak super effective hit such as Mega Aerodactyl's Wing Attack and Starmie's Psyshock since it avoids the OHKO from these attacks. Avoid using Outrage unless absolutely needed or if Steel- and Fairy-types are KOed. (add something about using the z-move in this section too)

Team Options
========

Steel-types are excellent partners, as they resist everything Kommo-o is weak to. Scizor, Cobalion, Mega Aggron (cobalion actually doesn’t resist psychic, flying, or fairy. it’s a fair example but saying all steels resist this then giving one that doesn’t isn't the best. can either change the example to something like stakataka or reword the original point) are some partners that can take advantage of the Fairy-, Dragon-, and Flying-types that threaten Kommo-o. Spikes support from Klefki put its grounded Fairy-type checks into KO range faster while checking Hyreigon and Latias very well. Prankster Thunder Wave can also create setup opportunities later on. Kommo-o punishes Fire-types that come in on Klefki, too. Toxic Spikes support from Nidoking, Nihilego, and Tentacruel also help. They can also switch into the Fairy-types Kommo-o draws in like Primarina and Klefki. Pokemon luring in Choice Scarf Krookodile like Latias or Gengar provide setup opportunities if they opt to Pursuit trap them or use Knock Off. (specify it’s about using the free turn to set up. you can also replace latias with nihilego because latias isn’t the best kommo-o partner)

Moves
========

Clanging Scales is a spammable, high base power Dragon-type STAB attack, which avoids the drop in Special Attack from Draco Meteor. Close Combat hits decently hard even without Attack investment, and it nails the Steel-types and special walls that can take Clanging Scales like Empoleon, Blissey, Klefki, and Muk-Alola. Poison Jab rounds out Kommo-o's STAB coverage (its not STAB its just coverage, and it doesn’t actually round out coverage when another coverage move is the next line) by nailing Fairy-types like Primarina, Togekiss, and Mega Altaria for super effective damage. Flamethrower OHKOs Scizor and hits physically defensive Steel-types in Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix harder while avoiding Close Combat's drops. Stealth Rock is a powerful move that Kommo-o excels at using due to its bulk and ability to force many Pokemon out. Taunt denies recovery and snuffs status moves from bulky Pokemon like Alomomola, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. It also can stop slower Stealth Rock users from setting hazards like Swampert and Hippowdon. Work Up boosts both Kommo-o's Attack and Special Attack to bolster its wallbreaking capabilities.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Kommo-o outspeed as much as possible while allowing hitting as hard as possible on the special side. The lack of Attack investment is not a big problem since most Close Combat targets are OHKOd without it. A Naive nature is used to avoid dropping Kommo-o's Attack and to maintain its high Defense. (naive boosts speed. either have that with max special attack and speed or here but the info should be here somewhere) Life Orb is the preferred item as it boosts all of Kommo-o's moves and does not burn a Z-move, but Dragonium Z is an option to give a powerful Dragon-type nuke that also avoids dropping its Defense. Bulletproof lets Kommo-o serve as an offensive counter to Chandelure, Stakataka, and punish Gengars locked into Shadow Ball. Soundproof is less useful since Roar is not an issue without Dragon Dance, and this set struggles against Fairy-types regardless of a Hyper Voice immunity.

Usage Tips
========

Bring Kommo-o in early on one of its resists, such as Chandelure and Empoleon, to dish out damage as soon as possible. (you mention voltturn in team options so say something about how it can be brought in via that here too) Spam Clanging Scales as much as possible if the opponent's team does not have a Fairy-type. Try and predict the Fairy switch in, like Primarina and Togekiss, and hit it with Poison Jab for a 2HKO. If running Stealth Rock, use Kommo-o's great bulk and typing to find an opportunity to set them early. It has a great matchup against most Stealth Rock users, such as Swampert and Empoleon, so leading with it to snuff the opponent's hazards with Taunt is a good idea. Unleash a Devastating Drake on any team lacking a Fairy-type when presented the opportunity. Be wary, however, that it fails to nab OHKOs on Pokemon like Hippowdown and Alomomola, so they may simply heal off the damage.

Team Options
========

Sweepers that appreciate Kommo-o luring in Fairy-types with Poison Jab, such as Mega Sharpedo and Lucario, make for good partners. Other sweepers, like Cobalion and (specify swords dance) Scizor, that struggle against Fire- and bulky Water-types pair nicely with Kommo-o. The mixed set does not fear Scald burns like its Dragon Dance set does. Kommo-o appreciates Volt Switch support from Mega Manectric or Rotom-H since it provides pivot support while resisting Flying-type attacks that threaten Kommo-o. When not running Poison Jab (poison jab is the only slash for move 3 so there isn’t really a listed alternative. just remove this part because it still appreciates fairy checks no matter what) Kommo-o is helpless against any Fairy-type. Spikes support from Klefki and Stealth Rock support from Pokemon like Hippowdon and Mega Aggron help Kommo-o power through bulky Pokemon.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is one of the best moves in the game, and Kommo-o is a great offensive user of it. It punishes switches by inflicting chip damage on the opponent's Pokemon. Swords Dance boosts Kommo-o's Attack two stages, turning it into a terrifying wallbreaker. Close Combat is a high base power Fighting-type STAB move that comes with the drawback of dropping its defenses, and it greatly complements Outrage by nailing Steel-types that resist it. Outrage is a high base power Dragon-type STAB, but it locks Kommo-o into using it for multiple turns. With Dragonium Z, Kommo-o can unleash a strong Devastating Drake on Pokemon like Tentacruel and Chandelure without being locked. Poison Jab can be used instead of Swords Dance to round out its coverage by hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment is to hit as hard as possible. Maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature is to outspeed base 80s like Chandelure and speed tie other base 85 Speed Pokemon like Nidoking and Heracross. Set up a Swords Dance against more defensive teams lacking a bulky Fairy-type and begin punching holes in their team. Don't waste a turn setting up if they do have one. Avoid locking yourself into Outrage if they have a Pokemon that can set up on it, namely the tier's Steel-type sweepers such as Swords Dance Scizor and Swords Dance Cobalion.

This set fits well on offensive teams looking for a reliable Stealth Rock user that can check threats to offense in Mega Manectric, Chandelure, and Stakataka while also dishing out damage. A solid Fairy-type answer is a must, since this set invites the majority of them in. Mega Aggron and Scizor are excellent partners that take most Fairy-types on, such as Mega Altaria, Klefki, and Togekiss. Other Steel-types, such as Empoleon, Mega Aggron, and Klefki (you have mega aggron twice. pick one) make for good partners as well since they resist every type Kommo-o is weak to. Empoleon gets a special mention as a Steel-type that can switch into Primarina. Mega Aerodactyl takes on Flying-types like Crobat, Togekiss, and Mega Pidgeot trying to revenge kill Kommo-o. Pursuit trappers like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Muk-Alola can trap faster Psychic-types such as Latias, Starmie, and Celebi. Kommo-o often lured bulky Ground-types such as Swampert and Hippowdon, so sweepers that appreciate them being weakened form an excellent offensive core. Other Options
=============

A Substitute + Belly Drum set with a Salac Berry is another viable set up set since Kommo-o can recover lost health with Drain Punch. However, even with +1 Speed, it is outsped by common Choice Scarf users like Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Latias. A set with Automize, Focus Blast, Clanging Scales, and Flash Cannon with Life Orb can serve as a late-game cleaner against offensive teams. However, without a way to boost its Special Attack, it struggles to obtain KOs against bulkier Pokemon like Florges, Sylveon, and Hippowdon. Kommo-o can wield both Choice Band and Choice Specs effectively. The Choice Specs set can run Overcoat with Sleep Talk to serve as a great pivot into Amoonguss, but the Choice Band set prefers Bulletproof since getting locked into Outrage can be disastrous from a Sleep Talk. A defensive set with Rest + Sleep Talk is an option for defensive teams looking for a counter to Crawdaunt, Calm Mind Chandelure, and Mega Sharpedo. (wouldn’t say it counters shark because psychic fangs) However, Rest is unreliable form of recovery, and it faces competition from Chesnaught and Mega Altaria, which check similar Pokemon. Kommo-o can also run Overcoat, which is useful for pivoting into Amoonguss' Spore. However, it useless in every other matchup.

Kommo-o has a number of alternate yet viable attack moves. Earthquake on DD sets is useful to nail Doublade and Klefki while also hitting Primarina for neutral damage but leaves it helpless against other Fairy-types. Iron Tail is Kommo-o's strongest move to hit Fairy-types, but suffers from unreliable accuracy. Draco Meteor on mixed or special sets is Kommo-o's most powerful STAB move, but it is not as spammable as Clanging Scales due to the SpA drop. Lum Berry can be used on Dragon Dance sets to mitigate Scald burns, confusion from Outrage, and Toxic from Pokemon like Empoleon and Blissey. The lack of Z-move is sorely missed, however.

Checks and Counters
===================

(autotomize is oo so shouldn’t be here)

Kommo-o's access to an array of viable moves and good mixed attacking stats make it one of the tier's most versatile Pokemon, as it can serve as a sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, or a wallbreaker. Its Dragon and Fighting Dragon / Fighting typing and ability Bulletproof ability give it a unique set of resistances, which allow Kommo-o to check Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Krookodile. It also has access to boosting moves in Dragon Dance and Swords Dance alongside a great base Defense and Special Defense, which give it many opportunities to set up and make it difficult to revenge kill. Its Kommo-o's excellent Dragon / Fighting STAB moves combination and access to coverage moves like Poison Jab, Flamethrower, and Ice Punch make it difficult to switch into and let Kommo-o it hit the entire tier super effectively or neutrally. However, Kommo-o's average base Attack and Special Attack and Attack stats make it difficult to nab OHKOs without using a Z-Move, even with a boost. It also Kommo-o is susceptible to being revenge killed, as it is outsped by most Choice Scarf users such as Hydreigon and Latias even at +1 Speed, (RC) and it also dislikes priority from Scizor and Mamoswine. Thus, it is susceptible to revenge killing after one Dragon Dance. Its typing also gives it a 4x weakness to Fairy-types and a 2x weakness to Psychic- and Flying-types, which leaves it vulnerable to some of the tier's best Pokemon in Latias, Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Altaria, and Togekiss Togekiss, Mega Altaria, Latias, and Mega Aerodactyl.

Moves
========

Dragon Dance boosts Kommo-o's Speed and Attack by one stage, letting it sweep late game. Outrage is its strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, hitting Fighting-type resists Fighting-resistant or -immune Pokemon like Celebi, Chandelure, Gengar, and Tentacruel for the most damage. Close Combat is a reliable Fighting-type STAB attack, which allows Kommo-o to break through Steel-types in Cobalion, Mega Aggron, and Scizor and hit the majority of the tier neutrally. (was given the ok to just nuke this bc of the new rules regarding how information is conveyed. this happens throughout the remainder of the analysis as a forewarning.) Drain Punch is an alternative Fighting-type STAB move to Close Combat that improves Kommo-o's longevity. Ice Punch hits some of the aforementioned Fairy-types while also allowing it to hit Flying-types and Dragon-types like Crobat and Latias without burning using a its Z-Move or locking itself into Outrage. However, it fails to hit Sylveon, Florges, and Primarina for super effective damage.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Attack investment and a Jolly nature are mandatory to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding the entire unboosted metagame at +1. Unboosted, Kommo-o speed ties with Heracross and Nidoking. Bulletproof lets provides Kommo-o with an immunity to moves like Shadow Ball and Gyro Ball, letting it counter Chandelure and Stakataka with Shadow Ball and Gyro Ball immunities, and giving it some more setup opportunities. Gengar is another target example, but Kommo-o can take heavy damage from a fast Never-(AH)Ending Nightmare or Sludge Wave. Soundproof grants an immunity to Roar and Sylveon's and Mega Altaria's Hyper Voice, but it is less useful than Bulletproof, (AC) as offensive teams prefer its ability to check the aforementioned Pokemon deal with Chandelure and Stakataka. Also, Sylveon and Mega Altaria may respectively opt to run Moonblast or and Return to circumvent Soundproof. Dragonium Z gives Kommo-o turns Outrage into Devastating Drake, a powerful Dragon-type attack without having to be locked that doesn't lock Kommo-o into Outrage. +1 Devastating Drake OHKOs Celebi, Tentacruel, and Suicune after Stealth Rock while also dealing a large amount of damage to Slowbro after a Dragon Dance. Fightinium Z secures the OHKO on Mega Steelix and Klefki at +1 while also doing significant damage to Mega Aggron. However, opting for Fightinium Z forces Kommo-o is forced to use to completely rely on and is get locked into Outrage, (AC) which isn't ideal on against Psychic- and Ghost-types like Latias and Chandelure. (i have a feeling i interpreted this incorrectly, but it felt like there were words missing from the original text, so i did my best here. also, i thought you countered chandelure?) Life Orb boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and nabs the KO on Fairy-types like Choice Specs Primarina and Togekiss after Stealth Rock with Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Use Kommo-o's large bulk and good typing to set up on resisted hits and proceed to sweep mid-(AH) or late-(AH)game. For example, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Mega Manectric are some Pokemon that are helpless against it. Kommo-o can also set up on neutral hits from Pokemon like Cobalion and Krookodile, but only do so if there are no easier targets. Be wary of status moves and secondary effects from Pokemon that you might set up on, such as Scald burns and Toxic on from Swampert and Empoleon, (RC) and as well as Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-H and Chandelure. Try to avoid switching Kommo-o in early to take hits if it cannot immediately punish the opponent. Chip damage hampers its ability to set up later and puts it in range of Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mamoswine's Ice Shard. In a pinch, Kommo-o can set up on weak super effective hits such as Mega Aerodactyl's Wing Attack and Starmie's Psyshock, (AC) since it avoids the OHKO from these attacks. Avoid using Outrage after using Devastating Drake unless absolutely needed or if Steel- and Fairy-types are KOed. (AP)

Team Options
========

Spikes support from Klefki put its Kommo-o's grounded Fairy-type checks into KO range faster, (AC) while and Klefki is also capable of checking Hydreigon and Latias very well. Prankster Thunder Wave can also create setup opportunities later on. Kommo-o punishes Fire-types that come in on Klefki, too. Toxic Spikes support from Nidoking, Nihilego, and Tentacruel can also help wear Kommo-o's checks down. They These Pokemon can also switch into the Fairy-types Kommo-o draws in like Primarina and Klefki. Pokemon that can luring lure in Choice Scarf Krookodile like Nihilego or and Gengar provide Kommo-o with free setup opportunities if they it opts to Pursuit trap them or use Knock Off by giving Kommo-o a free turn to use Dragon Dance.

Moves
========

Poison Jab covers Kommo-o's STAB moves by nailing Fairy-types like Primarina, Togekiss, and Mega Altaria for super effective damage. Flamethrower OHKOes Scizor and hits physically defensive Steel-types in like Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix harder while avoiding Close Combat's stat drops. Stealth Rock is a powerful move that Kommo-o excels at using due to its bulk and ability to force many Pokemon out. Taunt denies recovery and snuffs status moves from bulky Pokemon like Alomomola, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. It also can stop slower Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Hippowdon from setting hazards like Swampert and Hippowdon. Work Up is an alternative that boosts both Kommo-o's Attack and Special Attack, (AC) to which bolsters its wallbreaking capabilities.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment let Kommo-o outspeed as much as possible while allowing hitting as hard as possible on the special side. The lack of Attack investment is not a big problem since most Close Combat targets are OHKOd without it. A Naive nature boosts Speed and is used to avoid dropping Kommo's Attack and to maintain its high Defense. Life Orb is the preferred item, (AC) as it boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and does not burn take up a the Z-Move slot, but Dragonium Z is an option to give a powerful Dragon-type nuke that also avoids dropping its Defense. Bulletproof lets Kommo-o serve as an offensive counter to Chandelure, (RC) and Stakataka, (RC) and as well as punish Gengars if it is locked into Shadow Ball. Soundproof is less useful since Roar is not an issue without Dragon Dance, and this set struggles against Fairy-types regardless of a Hyper Voice immunity. (this sorta feels like unnecessary information, though i'll let you decide if you want to remove it or not.)

Usage Tips
========

Bring Kommo-o in early on one of its resists a Pokemon it checks, such as Chandelure and Empoleon, to dish out damage as soon as possible. VoltTurn users are also great at for bringing in Kommo-o unscathed. Spam Clanging Scales as much as possible if the opponent's team does not have a Fairy-type. If the opposing team does have a Fairy-type like Primarina or Togekiss, try and predict the Fairy switch in, like Primarina and Togekiss, it to switch in and hit it with Poison Jab for a 2HKO. If running Stealth Rock, use Kommo-o's great bulk and typing to find an opportunity to set them early. It has a great matchup against most Stealth Rock users, such as Swampert and Empoleon, so leading with it to snuff prevent the opponent's hazards with Taunt is a good idea. Unleash a Devastating Drake on any team lacking a Fairy-type when presented with the opportunity. Be wary, however, that it fails to nab OHKOs on Pokemon like Hippowdown and Alomomola, so they may simply heal off the damage.

Team Options
========

Sweepers that appreciate Kommo-o luring in Fairy-types with Poison Jab, such as Mega Sharpedo and Lucario, make for good partners. Other sweepers, like Swords Dance Cobalion and Scizor, that struggle against Fire- and bulky Water-types pair nicely with Kommo-o. The mixed set does not fear Scald burns like its Dragon Dance set does. Kommo-o appreciates Volt Switch support from Mega Manectric or and Rotom-H, (AC) since it they provides pivoting support while also resisting Flying-type attacks that threaten Kommo-o.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock is one of the best moves in the game, and Kommo-o is a great offensive user of it. It punishes switches by inflicting chip damage on the opponent's Pokemon. Swords Dance boosts Kommo's Attack two stages, turning it into a terrifying wallbreaker.

Maximum Attack investment is to hit as hard as possible. Maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature is to outspeed base 80s like Chandelure and speed tie other base 85 Speed Pokemon like Nidoking and Heracross. Dragonium Z lets Kommo-o unleash an extremely powerful Dragon-type attack without being locked locking itself into Outrage. It is particularly useful for Fighting-type resists Fighting-immune or -resistant foes, such as Chandelure and Amoonguss. Bulletproof makes Kommo-o an excellent offensive check to Stakataka, Chandelure, and Choice-locked Gengar with a choiced item due to its immunity to Gyro Ball and Shadow Ball immunity. Soundproof is an option to prevent Sylveon and Hyper Voice Mega Altaria from coming in freely, but it needs to boost multiple times to actually threaten them without Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Utilize Kommo-o's amazing bulk to bring it in early and set up Stealth Rock. Tier staples like Empoleon, Mega Manectric, and Krookodile are some Pokemon it can use to set Stealth Rock. Once Stealth Rock is used set, start firing off strong attacks. Kommo-o hits hard enough even without a Swords Dance, so sometimes firing an unboosted Devastating Drake on frailer Pokemon like Chandelure is a fine play. If the opponent has a Fairy-type such as Togekiss or Mega Altaria, try to predict their switch in and make a double switch after bringing in Kommo-o. Set up a Use Swords Dance against more defensive teams lacking a bulky Fairy-type and begin punching holes in their team. Don't waste a turn setting up if they do have one. Avoid locking yourself Kommo-o into Outrage if they the opponent have has a Pokemon that can set up on it, namely the tier's Steel-type sweepers such as Swords Dance Scizor and Swords Dance Cobalion.

Team Options
========

This set fits well on offensive teams looking for a reliable Stealth Rock user that can check threats to offense in such as Mega Manectric, Chandelure, and Stakataka while also dishing out good damage. A solid Fairy-type answer is a must, since this set invites the majority of them in. Mega Aggron and Scizor are excellent partners that take most Fairy-types on, such as with notable examples being Mega Altaria, Klefki, and Togekiss. Other Steel-types, such as Empoleon and Klefki, (AC) make for good partners as well, (AC) since they resist every type Kommo-o is weak to. Empoleon gets a special mention as a Steel-type that can switch into Primarina. Mega Aerodactyl takes on Flying-types like Crobat, Togekiss, and Mega Pidgeot trying to revenge kill Kommo-o. Pursuit trappers like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Muk-Alola Alolan Muk can trap faster Psychic-types such as Latias, Starmie, and Celebi. Kommo-o often lured lures in bulky Ground-types such as Swampert and Hippowdon, so sweepers that appreciate them being weakened form an excellent offensive core with it. Some examples are Cobalion, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Substitute + Belly Drum set with a Salac Berry is another viable set up boosting set, (AC) since Kommo-o can recover lost health with Drain Punch. The Choice Specs set can run Overcoat with Sleep Talk to serve as a great pivot into Amoonguss, but the Choice Band set prefers Bulletproof since getting locked into Outrage can be disastrous from a Sleep Talk. A defensive set with Rest + Sleep Talk is an option for defensive teams looking for a counter to Crawdaunt and Calm Mind Chandelure. However, Rest is an unreliable form of recovery, (RC) and it faces competition from Chesnaught and Mega Altaria, which check similar Pokemon. Kommo-o can also run Overcoat, which is useful for pivoting into Amoonguss's Spore. However, it is useless in every other matchup.

Kommo-o has a number of alternate yet viable attack moves. Earthquake on DD Dragon Dance sets is useful to nail Doublade and Klefki while also hitting Primarina for neutral damage but leaves it helpless against other Fairy-types. Iron Tail is Kommo-o's strongest move to hit Fairy-types, but it suffers from unreliable accuracy. Draco Meteor is Kommo-o's most powerful STAB move and can be used on mixed or special sets is Kommo-o's most powerful STAB move, but it is not as spammable as Clanging Scales due to the SpA Special Attack drop. Lum Berry can be used on Dragon Dance sets to mitigate Scald burns, confusion from Outrage, and Toxic from Pokemon like Empoleon and Blissey. The lack of a Z-Move is sorely missed, however.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, Primarina, and Sylveon, can switch into both of Kommo-o's STAB types while and avoiding the OHKO from its coverage moves while easily OHKOing it back. However, Kommo-o, however, does outspeed all of them and can thus power through if carrying Poison Jab or Flash Cannon late-(AH)game.

**Faster Dragon-types**: Even after a Dragon Dance, Kommo-o is outsped and OHKOed by Choice Scarf Hydreigon's and Latias's Draco Meteor or and Psychic, respectively.

**Mixed Walls**: Mixed and special sets struggle to break through walls like Hippowdon, Mega Slowbro, Mantine, (AC) and Muk-Alola Alolan Muk without sustaining heavy damage through Life Orb recoil and their attacks. They all need to be wary of Devastating Drake, however.

**Doublade**: Doublade completely walls and sets up safely uses Swords Dance on against the standard Dragon Dance set, as they it does not often carry Earthquake. However, it cannot switch into mixed or fully special sets, as it takes significant damage from Clanging Scales and Flamethrower.

**Strong Priority**: While Kommo-o has good physical bulk, it uses moves that drop its defense in Clanging Scales and Close Combat both Clanging Scales and Close Combat drop its Defense. Using these moves often puts Kommo-o in range of being killed by Mamoswine's Ice Shard or and Scizor's Bullet Punch.

**Unaware Users**: Quagsire and Pyukumuku get a mention for shutting down Dragon Dance sets due to their ability Unaware ability. Kommo-o's special sets can break through, however, as neither take Clanging Scales or Focus Blast well.

[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o's access to an array of viable moves and good mixed attacking stats make it one of the tier's most versatile Pokemon, as it can serve as a sweeper, Stealth Rock setter, or wallbreaker. Its Dragon / Fighting typing and ability Bulletproof give it a unique set of resistances, which allow Kommo-o that allows it to check Pokemon like Mega Manectric, Chandelure, Crawdaunt, and Krookodile. Its typing also gives it a 4x weakness to Fairy (RH) and a 2x weakness to Psychic and Flying, (RH) which leaves it vulnerable to some of the tier's best Pokemon in Togekiss, Mega Altaria, Latias, and Mega Aerodactyl.

Moves

Set Details
========

Soundproof grants an immunity to Roar and Sylveon and Mega Altaria's Hyper Voice, but it is less useful than Bulletproof, as offensive teams prefer its Kommo-o's ability to deal with Chandelure and Stakataka. Also, Sylveon and Mega Altaria may respectively opt to run Moonblast and Return to circumvent Soundproof. Dragonium Z turns outrage into Devastating Drake, a powerful Dragon-type attack that doesn't lock Kommo-o into Outrage. +1 Devastating Drake OHKOs OHKOes Celebi, Tentacruel, and Suicune after Stealth Rock while also dealing a large amount of damage to Slowbro. Life Orb boosts the power of all of Kommo-o's moves and nabs secures the KO on Fairy-types like Choice Specs Primarina and Togekiss after Stealth Rock with Poison Jab.

Usage Tips
========

Try to avoid switching Kommo-o in early to take hits if it cannot immediately punish the opponent, (comma) as chip damage hampers its ability to set up later and puts it in range of Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch and Mamoswine's Ice Shard. In a pinch, Kommo-o can set up on weak super effective hit hits such as Mega Aerodactyl's Wing Attack and Starmie's Psyshock, since it avoids the OHKO from these attacks. Avoid using Outrage after using Devastating Drake unless absolutely needed or if Steel- and Fairy-types are KOed.
