Rules
  • Follow all rules listed here.
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for me to make decisions for activity calls when I can actually see what went down with scheduling.
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your captains know ASAP so they can communicate that to the host or the other team's captains for a potential substitute.
  • Substitutions may be made after a week has started. When making a substitution, please tag the host, the captains of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.
  • Post replays. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later. Your win won't be counted without a replay

Predicts for the impending Psycho Chunglers mid-off! I have to gently roast a few of you (sorry). Enjoy!

SV: Larry vs Metallica126 - The player who beat Xiri with some help from Tera Dark Zoroark Dark Pulse flinch into redbull vs the player who beat asa in last week's tie breaker without any hax: these two SVers who took out circuit finalists in recent rounds look intimidating and have built up some momentum coming into this round, though I rate Metallica's builds and plays higher here.
SV: Bouff vs gulch - Council vs the guy who is mostly known for his ham-fisted predicts, gg. It seems like the scowlers opted to move gulch out of DPP into SV after having lost to BeatsBlack in DPP already, a week 1 result they don't want to see repeated.
SS: TJ vs Kate - If it's a question of skill ceiling, team choice, and overall meta knowledge in SwSh, TJ is an easy vote here. At the same time, Kate seems to be having a rough tour and is beating the non-mainers only (robjr in W3 and went 1-1 vs THE STRAP in W4 / semis). I had the opportunity to team with TJ in previous PUWC i and iii (back when it was basically a region-locked PUBD before its pointless re-branding) and his ability to pick out and pilot a team that would give him the best chances in the actual game is some of the best I've seen. Kate's builds and plays aren't the worst either, but Kate has already been knocked out by TJ this tour and so it is very possible it'll happen again against the self-proclaimed GOAT of SwSh PU.
SM: Hacker vs sugar ovens - I actually rate sugar's SM higher than Hacker's, as sugar has much more experience than Hacker here and is remembered for taking matchup with unorthodox but functional team choices, but Hacker has been on a hot streak and has yet to commit any serious building faux pas like forgetting a Victreebel answer while using a grass spam team. Actually, that's not true, there was a Bibarel on Hacker's end for little to no reason other than a possible 'omg Bibarel punishes estarossa's lower Jellicent usage, let's do that'. A message to the SM players: don't forget to say GG or Dugza who embodies the peak of Smogon sportsmanship will be on your ass in tour disc chat.
ORAS: DugZa vs Vulpix3K - Some funky stuff going on here with the ORAS builders and team choices, and this has been the case for the whole tour for both sides. Neither of these guys were around for the meta's lifetime, and while you can't really call it a mid-off because their plays have actually been pretty good on the whole, their team choices make me wonder just how much koolaid they've been drinking / how much effort they've been putting toward CTing versus just running with a solid team. The last time they played, Vulpix beat Dugza's bulky balance squad with a DD Fraxure HO (w/o a fairy resist to account for scarf mime) and took the W despite obvious problems with the team, so he might very well be outplaying with a suboptimal build again here. On the other side, Dugza has very confidently been bringing invalid team configs like missing a volt stop and just relying on SubLO Rotom-F to do Rotom-F things vs Many in W2, or fully missing a breaker last week vs me for semifinals to name a few examples; while it's not all bad in builder for Dugza, there have been some notable bumbles here that have me hoping lowkey for some ORAS mainers to hop into either server to help out with the builds for finals.
BW: ninjadog vs LpZ - It seems like the only thing that could beat LPZ was recently banned by LPZ himself (rip Swanna). He's been at the top of the pool for a while and that seems unlikely to change going forward.
DPP: BeatsBlack vs dunoks - I liked BeatsBlack's DPP builds quite a bit, and it seems like BB (not to be confused with Breakfast Biscuit) has a high skill ceiling to match. Meanwhile, dunoks has been seen beating good players like kyuss in SV PU and is no slouch. These players recently played in DPP NU for some other tour and BeatsBlack took it there, so it's not inconceivable that the same would happen here.
ADV: zoowi vs Lily - If I'm looking at overall results in ADV and at who is more known, I might've bolded Lily just off the cuff, not thinking about tour performance this PUBD. However, Lily is 1-1 vs nebi in W4 / semis (suffered a very hard loss to SunnyBeamer Tangela in W4) and lost against zoowi in W1 and exguaradiaN in W5 (they play better than they spell). zoowi definitely has the potential to lock this one up again with some unconventional team choice.
GSC: LustfulLice vs torkonpeter - I almost didn't write anything here because GSC. LustfulLice took out Bee, bloodace, my brother in Vigoroth Gallinova, and most notably, torkonpeter in week 1 - it stands to reason that LustfulLice has a good shot at doing it again in finals.
RBY: Maris Bonibell vs DiannieRatson - In a meta where anything can happen and it takes a BO3 to even know who the real winner was, Maris seems to stand untouchable still and perhaps beatable only by their testing partner, Sabel or some weird 1/256 level luck. I continue to be impressed by the consistency here, even in the face of rby's inherently haxy nature.

SV: Larry vs Metallica126 - I think this one is a no brainer, Metallica has been thriving for quite a while and doesn't show any signs of weakness, his builds, his ingame, everything is on point and I can't see Larry overcoming it.
SV: Bouff vs gulch - I am torn between Bouff going undefeated and gulch having to stop him from doing so, both are good players, but unless gulch calls out Bouff perfectly, I think he will have a hard time winning
SS: TJ vs Kate - Yeah TJ is just the better player here, I don't see it any other way
SM: Hacker vs sugar ovens - Hard one, both are equally good, it will come down to so little details, sugar ovens has the edge knowledge-wise while Hacker can upset anyone with their builds, a must watch for sure
ORAS: DugZa vs Vulpix03 - I honestly don't know much here, I know both are good, so this bold is just vibes
BW: ninjadog vs LpZ - LpZ seems unstoppable rn, I don't see anyone actually beating him
DPP: BeatsBlack vs dunoks - as much as I love my boy dunoks, as much as it brings me joy to see a french player in finals, beatsblack might be one of the toughest one he could face, but it's dpp, an upset is always possible, though I wouldn't count on it
ADV: zoowi vs Lily - zoowi's unorthodox building may reach its limits, or at least get prepped against with more efficiency on Lily's side, but we never know what zoowi can bring
GSC: LustfulLice vs torkonpeter - Do I need to elaborate?
RBY: Maris Bonibell vs DiannieRatson - Do I need to elaborate again?

SV: Larry vs Metallica126 Metallica is clearly incredibly capable in this meta and has been playing very well when bringing strong teams.
SV: Bouff vs gulch Bouff is on a serious roll. Don't see them dropping the ball in finals.
SS: TJ vs Kate TJ is just the better SSPU player if we're keeping it a buck.
SM: Hacker vs sugar ovens I'm seeing stall on the horizon baby
ORAS: DugZa vs Vulpix03 Vulpix is kinda cracked. Been very impressed this tourney!
BW: ninjadog vs LpZ Dunno if this guy is even beatable in BW PU lol
DPP: BeatsBlack vs dunoks Beatsblack has shown some crazy prowess and I think is just slightly favourable.
ADV: zoowi vs Lily Lily has had a bit of a torrid time in the slot and Zoowi is clearly the best player ever as he beat me
GSC: LustfulLice vs torkonpeter Extremely strong ass player.
RBY: Maris Bonibell vs DiannieRatson Better record and plays very well.

Lily our first time teaming together i believe? kinda shocked ngl. glad that it ended with a ring though! you were one of the original cornerstone pieces of our draft plan since adv pool looked weak, unfortunately some bad matchups made the sheet look a lot worse than you actually performed. thanks for sticking it out though!

Metallica126 probably one of the people on this site i've gotten closest to in the shortest amount of time, and also our first time teaming together. we launched the 30k nuclear football to make sure we could get you and thank god it worked LOL. sorry you never got to play sm this season! thank you for holding down the fort in sv and your dedication to prep.

torkonpeter i was introduced to you as the luckiest bastard on the face of the planet and it felt like this entire season was god's punishment to you for your past transgressions. i know you're probably not happy with your record, but it's okay! you did a great job and the amount of effort you put in despite how wishy-washy the tier seemed was admirable.

also want to thank Bloshh Aurist BeeOrSomething for supporting us throughout the season/during playoffs respectively, BeatsBlack for helping me out in the dpp builder, and of course the host team for making this happen :) go birds!!
